Magic and Power... Dragons. These are the things of books and movies... of other worlds. They aren’t real. They can’t be real.

Mia wishes for the days when she truly believed that. Days when her biggest worry was whether or not she’d be accepted into the university of her choice. But that was before...

Before her reflection started playing tricks on her in store windows. Before she was unceremoniously ripped from her family and friends and dumped in a place she can’t escape from. A place where no one can reach her. Nethea,

Thrust into a world where Dragons exist and magic is Power, Mia must find a way to accept the role she’s been Chosen to fulfill. A role that seems more and more likely to claim her life as she uncovers the staggering odds stacked against her. If she can do it...if she can rise above the grief and anger that plague her heart and save Nethea from the dark fate waiting in the claws of a monster... Then maybe, just maybe she’ll get to go home again.

Can Mia find the will and the courage to defend and protect a world she doesn’t belong to? Will she take up the heavy mantle of the Guardians of Nethea?

The magic that the author has added into the novel through her words clearly shows how talented she is as a story teller.

Let me tell you, I am in love with Mia. She is a simple girl, yet there is something so unique about her. The title of the book itself will make you want to know more about it. CHOSEN! Who is the Chosen one, why was she Chosen and what is her journey. All these questions have been beautifully answered by the author.

The relationship between the characters and the dialogues in the book will make you smile and laugh and it'll make you shed tears too.

CHOSEN took me to another world and I don't wish to come back! :)

Amazing book! Do not pass up the chance to read this one! Great characters and world building. From the beginning you’re swept up in Mia’s story and can’t help but be carried along through her ups and downs! Highly recommend!

Very good read! The concept of the book and the way magic is used was something I've never seen in a book before. It's easy to sympathize with the main character Mia as her world literally changes in a day, and having dragons in a book will always reel me in! Can't wait for more from this author!

Mia Astor is just a regular young woman, excited to start a new future with her admission in an engineering course in a Canadian University. But the fate has other plans for her. One night, she’s thrust into a new world, the world where dragons exist, miracles happen, and magic is a real thing. Unable to accept the truth, Mia is too miserable to come to term with this harsh reality. Soon she learns that there is a slight hope of her returning to her earlier life. But before that she has to fulfill her responsibility toward people of Nethea; she has to take on the title of guardian of Nethnea and defeat the powerful Oluan army. For that she must learn to use the hidden powers she’s bestowed with.

The one thing I keep on saying about fantasy is that it is not my genre. But in the last few months, I have read quite a few fantasy books and I admit I’ve loved all of them. ‘Chosen’ by Christelle V Gregorchuk is no different. The book was really lovely and I enjoyed it thoroughly except for the first few chapters as the beginning was a bit slow. But once Mia enters Nethea, the story picked up the pace.

The everyday life in Nethea is intriguing. The characters are likable especially, Hanna and Orden Metrosson. Orden’s character as the keeper of guardians is intriguing. There is not much of Vander in the first book, but his character has a lot of potential and it would be interesting to see how he gets on with Mia in book two in the series. Mia as a major protagonist couldn’t impress much. Most of the time she’s whiny and unable to make up her mind. But that’s understandable considering she is stuck in an unknown world and barely has any hope to return to her old life. I hope she gets stronger, single- minded in the next book.

The plot is tight and story flows at good pace. The ending is a cliff-hanger and leaves the readers wanting to read the next book in the series.

The only thing that I didn’t like much was how the author didn’t pay much attention to the setting. Even though Mia has started to live in Nathea, readers do not get sense of this place. Nathea seems like Hanna and Orden’s home and nothing else. There is this mention of trade opportunities but no other family or people living in Nethea are shown. It seems there is this single house where the keeper of guardian and his family lives.

Other than that, the book is thoroughly enjoyable and would not disappoint fans of fantasy genre.

Definitely recommended!

Sooo... this story wasn’t like anything I’ve read before. It’s only my second time traveling novel, but the world was unique.

The first part of the story where Mia was still in her world I thoroughly enjoyed. When she jumped to a new world that seemed to be centuries behind as far as the amenities that we’re accustomed to, I got a bit bored at times.

Reading about the world and how it differed from Mia’s along with the magic that it had was entertaining, but the story felt like it barely progressed after Mia was dropped into the other place. I understood her grief and turmoil, but that seemed to be most of what everything was about except for the flashes into Vander’s life and Orden’s. I guess I wanted Mia to meet Vander and see where the story progressed to. Would they despise each other? Would they become romantic? Then I was disappointed when it finally happened because all my questions were left unanswered.

Gregorchuk's version of dragons is probably my favourite thing about this entire story! It was a bit slow in the beginning, only because we needed to get to know the main character. But once we dived into the fantasy aspect of the novel, i was hooked!

I'd say my favourite character would be Vander. There wasn't much about him in the book which made him more mysterious.. I wanted to read more about him and his story rather than the main character, Mia. But i'm thinking we'll probably read more about him in the next novel :) I did however, appreciate how Mia's character seemed real. She didn't accept her role as the "chosen" one right away. She did it kicking and screaming denying everything convinced she was kidnapped (which is what I would do too).

**spoiler**

The concept of dragons in this book is also really interesting! I've never read (or even imagined) about dragons shifting into human forms. I also enjoyed how they can't stay in one form too long or else they'll stay in that form. Can't wait to read more about them!!

I also hope we get to know whats going on in New York. Does time stand still in the normal world while Mia is off in another? Or does time move on and she's considered a missing person?

I. Need. More.

I was given the privilege of being asked to read this wonderful book before it went to publication. I am a veracious reader, but have seldom been attracted to the world of fantasy in books. "Chosen" has enticed me to read more of this world. The author writes so smoothly that each chapter flows into the next. I could literally feel the despair of Mia, being separated from her family and partner and being thrown into this new and unknown world of dragons and magic. It was a great read !!

I fell in love with Mia from page one. Starting off the novel is a little slow, not the story itself but the fact I wanted to get to this magical world and soon. Man was I rewarded when the world came though! It's beautifully set and sucked me right in. Once I got hooked the story pulled me in and I couldn't come back. I kept trying to turn more pages when the book ended. I was sad there wasn't more to it. I can't wait for Book Two, I hope it comes fast so I can continue right along with Mia.

This book was very enjoyable. I loved the authors voice and way of describing things. I really felt what her main character felt and couldn’t help but root for her. Looking forward to the sequel!

Mia wanted to go away for college and volunteer in Africa, a change of scenery so to say. What she got was something more. Training for a role she didn't ask for and hoping to return home one day where everything was more simple.
