He decided it was time to retire, settle down, become something nice and tame. Like an arms-dealing biker in some town called Navesink Bank. He could get behind that lifestyle.
He'd anticipated a lot of things. Drinking. Brotherhood. A little action peppered in here and there to keep things from getting too dull.
But there was one thing he hadn't planned on.
A woman moving in across the hall from him. The way something within him recognized something inside her. A past. Secrets. Darkness. Hidden behind thick walls, impenetrable shields, and a biting sort of confidence.
He damn sure couldn’t have prepared himself for the sudden and uncharacteristic urge to force his way into her life, get her to open up to him, feel comfortable enough to give her all the dark and ugly parts of his past. And - dare he even think it - plan a future with her.
You know… if she would stop disappearing for weeks at a time without a clue as to where she was going…

Title: ➳ ❤- Adler Series ➳ The Henchmen MC Series 13# Author: ➳ Jessica Gadziala ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Publication July 31st 2018
ღ Adler & Lou
I just love when you find a book with an sexy slow burn. I love when you find a female with just enough sass, fire & wit. That knows how to stand on her own two feet. Oh, how I love when you find a man that has enough balls & strength, that can be that loyal but can also be patient with his woman. and he still be his arrogant self in the right amount, without it being over the top …If you 👀for that type book you find yourself in the right place
This book got bit of everything, tears, laughs, slow burn & one hell of EPILOGUE…. This book started right around The Fall of V, for those of you trying to read Navesink Bank Universe in order
Damn it I wanted to know Adler’s story since Grudge Match, but after hearing both Adler & Lou stories honestly I don’t know who’s story was more heartbreaking
We first met Adler in Grudge Match… Adler & Ward had one hell of past together! I’ll leave it at that… his heartbreaking past is his to tell not my
Lou, is bounty hunter & of course one bad a$$ female, that can kick some serious a$$... her past is deep & her debt is even deep to pay
💖 On to the next book, I believe The Messenger (Professionals Series) is up next in the Navesink Bank Universe
Yay I’m slowly but surely making my through this Navesink Bank Universe… maybe just maybe I’ll get to the River Brothers series before thanksgiving
💖 Hope you enjoy this read 💖
⬇Always remember⬇ 📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book.
Adler has never known kindness or caring, so he only knows how to take what he wants with a bold and raw passion, so when the neighbor across the street caught his eye, he was determined to discover her secrets, because she definitely has some.
Lou is a bounty hunter, beautiful and deadly. She also has a debt to pay and she is determined to get a pound of flesh for the horrors she has lived through.
Both are rough, edgy and untamed. Neither trust with ease. Both are loners, but the Henchman sees more than a kindred spirit in Lou and he may be just who she needs to fill the gaping hole in her soul.
Raw, gritty and definitely edgy, this romance has no soft or fluffy lining, it is like sandpaper on roughhewn wood that continues to grind down a perfect fit for two loners with equal appetites for down and dirty lust and reluctant love.
ADLER by Jessica Gadziala is pure Henchmen romance, all or nothing, mind, body and soul. Coarse, yet romantic in its own way, proof that somewhere, somehow, two souls meant to complete each other may not be for everyone, but is fiercely beautiful!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Jessica Gadziala!

This is book #14 in the Henchmen series, and I am fully invested in this MC series as well as the other series that take place in the Navesink Bank world! At this point I’m starting to go back and read some of the other series that fit into the Henchmen series time line!! ( Thank you Paulette for showing me the link to Jessica Gadziela’s page that shows the reading order!!) I am fully immersed in this world and so far I don’t want to leave!!! I highly recommend this the Henchmen series, and I have to say that I have noticed that the author’s quality of writing gets better as the series progresses!
So I totally pretended to be paying attention during a budget meeting and was actually reading this instead. This was lots more entertaining.
Adler was excellent, Lou was awesome and Navesink Bank is still one of my most favoritist places to visit ever. I had a great time with this and cats totally agree that you must read this book.
Adler's story was great. I was so looking forward to his story after meeting him in Ward's book. But while I loved his connection with Lou and how she gave him a run for his money, I was kind of expecting more. For example I would've loved to have seen Ward in his book and seen a bondong moment that Ward's book was missing. Lou's story was absolutely heartbreaking and even with her story I felt like the ending was a bit anticlimactic. Overall, I just needed more on all fronts. I will say my favorite part of this book was Lou's friendship with Lenny. Their bond was just perfection. 4 stars! ~Ratula
Okay so my reviews are getting shorter and shorter. After finishing one book I’m always in such a rush to move onto the next one that all you get is a couple of lines.
I’ve been curious about Adler’s backstory since he appeared on the scene. We not only get his story but also Lou’s and hers is a real heartbreaker.
These two are fabulous and I really enjoyed this one. So bring on Roderick now mami.
I've had a bit of a crush on Adler since I read Grudge Match so I started reading this salivating in anticipation. Shockingly as much as Adler was patient, LOYAL and surprisingly sweet he was not the one who made this book for me...Lou with her badassery,(😂) sass, fire and wit had me savoring every word! She dethroned Adler!!! This was an mc light read but Lou's career as a bounty hunter provided some action to the plot. I was hanging on in equal parts anticipation and dread because I just knew her backstory would leave me heartbroken, and it absolutely wrecked me to read it but I admired her even more for having the courage to dole out her brand of justice. It was wonderful seeing old favourites make appearances here and to get a teaser for Roderick's story. As much as I adored Adler and finally felt like I got to know and understand him better, and admired the time he took to get Lou comfortable enough to let him in I was beyond grateful to JG for giving this reader a strong but relatable heroine in a time in romances when doormats seem par for the course. Beautiful epilogues ended this engrossing addition to the henchmen mc and has just left me eager for more!
I may put the blame on extremely hot weather or maybe I shall be ashamed of the fact that I couldn’t follow some parts of the story? I read all books in this series and still spotted many ‘new’ names and I was a bit lost.
2 facts I know for sure: - They killed rapists - They adopted a dog
Strong sassy badass heroine. This woman delivered some cool lines! *lol*
Ok hero. Liked how he loved her.
Their pasts was tragic, but her tragedy was awful…. My heart bled. Possible triggers:
That’s why and also because it’s INHUMAN I would never ever support any book/author, which romanticize rape! Never!
I wish the vengeance scenes were more cruel and detailed. These abhorrent fuckers deserved to be tortured for months. A bullet was an easy death.
so our heroine is none other than my girl Lou... and the hero on this one is my babe Adler... who spends most of the first chaper like this... until he takes matters in his own hands and "crash her party" or better her car and poof our journey stars... and trust me what a journey!!!
This book takes you on a roller-coaster of emotions. You'll laugh (a lot!) And swoon. And cry. And will want to punch something for sure but in the end will left you with a warm feeling inside and a happy heart. (Spoiler alert..... unlike Vigilante... I love that one too but it was too much for my poor heart) This book... anyone who knows me knows my favourite book (and Henchmen!) Is Wolf and my favourite Heroine is JStorm... BUT... OMG ADLER AND LOU WON MY HEART!!! (Tho I still love my man wolf and JStorm, they just got "company" in #1 spot) anyway... love it! JG DID IT AGAIN AS PER USUAL WERE LOVING IT!
This book was like an Indiana Jones movie. Together we dug up allllll the skeletons...the ones in the closet, trunk of the car, the backyard, the creepy forest a few miles out of town, and the ones buried deeper than the lost queens in Egypt.
Adler when we first met him in Grudge Match (another of JG’s amazing works, go buy it now) it was insta-love for most of us. The quirky, quick wit and the unpredictable manner of living packed into this mysterious hot body gave us a sneak peek into what a full novel was going to be like. I never anticipated what was to come. I also never guessed Adler would end up as deep as his care-free manner previously led me to believe he wasn’t. I’m not even kidding about Indiana Jones here. Someone get me a shovel.
Lou was a huge surprise for me, but the kind of surprise like opening a iPad on Christmas when you only asked for a new paper journal. Like, “holy shit you bought me an iPad” kind of reaction. She was deep and dark with her own secrets, but with all the right equipment to carry Adler’s baggage. I loved Lou the way I’ve loved Janie and Lenny, which for those of you who aren’t my personal friends says a lot. (See Wolf and Edison for their stories).
Jessica clearly puts a piece of her soul into every book she writes and this one is no exception. She’s given us a world, a family, and friends over these past few years which is irreplaceable. Navesink Bank is in my blood now, and there will never be anything to replace it the way these characters have taken up residence. Take them as they are and love them for their faults, we all can relate.
Adler and Lou give us hope that the right kind of person is out there for each of us. Baggage that goes with ours, eyes that refuse to fill with pity because we’ve seen some shit, and a home cooked meal made with only us in mind.
Now excuse me, I feel the urge to cook for the hubster, specifically to chop some tomatoes with some....ah...help.
She has done it again! I don't know how , but at this point have learned just to sit back and take in the goodness of every story Jessica creates. Adler and Lou being no different. One of my favorite types of characters in a book is a bounty hunter so having Lou be a female bounty hunter was so cool. And what better type of man for such a tough, smart women then a tough, smart man. Adler and Lou just clicked into each other's lives so perfectly. Having both suffered some major hurdles and hard times in their lives and finally having the courage to share those times with each other. It was amazing to read and experience. the cameos in this book were so cool. We got to catch up with some of my favorites! My man Edison and his girl Lenny, Peyton and Sugar, Reeve and Rey and so many others. We even got all of Rey's pets!!! And the ending! Ahhhh... definitely not going to spoil it but leave it to Peyton to make me laugh so hard I had tears! I recommend this for all the Henchmen fans!!!!
Both Adler and Lou have had such horrible tragedies in their childhoods but managed to rise above them by finding ways to right the wrongs. I don't know how anyone could help but fall in the Lou fan club immediately. Adler is the perfect match. This is a beautiful love story where compassion, patience, and love take precedence over the sadness. This author is always "a must read."
I’ve found that a lot of Jessica Gadziala books fall prey to the whole show and tell bit when it comes to romance. Lots of tell, telling me how much chemistry they have, telling me how all of the sudden they’re in love, telling me they complete each other. But not a whole lot of showing me that happen.
Twasn’t the case here! Adler and Lou were great and I loved them together so yay.
Ever since meeting Adler in another book, I have been looking forward to getting his story, finding out what happened to him as a child. Jessica didn’t disappoint with his story. His book was every bit of awesome as I thought it would be. The heroine, Lou is a total bad @$$ and perfect for Adler.
What can I say that was not said before about Jessicas books. I don't think it’s possible to describe this book without swooning. Adler and his Duchess 😍 (swoon😍). See ... not possible 😉 I love this book and the characters. Adler, the always cool, collected and flirting type, that has always something to say to provoke others. In his own love life, he became the perfect combination of a flirty and understanding "boyfriend ". For a girl that was used to be so independent-minded, a perfect match. And Lou is the challenge that he needs. Sometimes I thought that she is a worse badass than Adler. I loved every moment of this book. I laughed so hard in some chapters, that my family probably thinks I'm crazy 🤷🏻♀. Definitely a must read for all MC lovers and HEA believers.
I'm going to be honest here and say that Adler is my most anticipated character ever. Since the minute he dropped into the crazy world of Navesink Bank in Grudge Match, Ross and Addison's story, I just knew he would be my favourite!!!. ADLER IS MY FAVOURITE yup I said it. They say admitting your problems is the first step to recovery right?.. I NEED more of him!!. I'm addicted to all things Adler.
This book has been highly anticipated by everyone who reads this series. So of course with the anticipation comes expectations right? And damn right I built hundreds of scenarios in my head about how the story was going to go. I knew damn well that what ever lucky female he landed up with had to be strong in every aspect. But I've got to say Jessica, you pulled that out the bag because hot damn are they a power couple or what!. You defied any and all expectations I had and took me on a different, far better journey that I ever expected.
Adler! Sweet, quirky mysterious Adler. Boy you had me all kinds of twisted. He's a ghost. A man whom nobody knows about. A guy who hides behind a that facade of humour and quirk that covers the broken all to well. Everyone knew he had a story but the reality of it was just unbelievable. Despite his past he was a good man through and through. Behind the humour, sarcasm and witty banter is a past that's never been resolved and a man whom never really had a chance. I love him hard! Such a great character with so much depth and so many layers to dig through. There was always something new and never a dull moment in sight.
Lou!!!!!!! Gah I love her. I knew she was perfect the second she forearm cracked him across the throat for following her. I knew we'd be best friends if she were real the minute her mind said this.. " It was the kind of month that made you decide you needed a healthy dose of Fuckitall, prescription strength. Chased with about a fifth of Wild Turkey.". Yes that right there is my kinda women. Not all is what you see with her and despite her tough kick ass beautiful exterior. Underneath that fuck off vibe and the badass layers. There is a broken women who's emotionally damaged. She knows, She wasn't in denial. I love that about her to. Strong to the core and a certified badass to the bone she is the definition of a worrier. Any other women would pale for Adler in comparison. She defied any and all expectations I had too and I could of happily read more of her. She's now officially my favourite heroine.
Together, holy hell on wheels I just loved them!. The banter, the Witt!. It had me crying in laughter. The chemistry, well fuck me side ways they about lit my phone on fire with that steam. Everything about them fit!, I couldn't imagine any two characters more perfect for eachother than them. Adler needed broken. Not the feeble kind. He needed exactly what Lou gave him. A mutual respect and understanding of eachothers damage. Two halfs making one complete crazy maybe a little.. ok a lot of fucked up whole. It was just so right.
The story is seamlessly written built with tantalisingly teasing anticipation, Suspenseful and climatic moments, Hilariously dysfunctional shenanigans that will have you in uproar with chemistry and passion so real it's palpable. Raw emotion that hits you in all the feels, for better or worse this journey is one you will remember. It's one of the best in my opinion but hey... I could be biased because I've been dying for Alder since say dot.
It's not hearts and flowers but it's true to them as characters. It's everything and more and I'm sure I will find it hard to love anyone as much as these pair!. But I sure as hell cant wait for whoever is next!.
Also a little side note.. that epilogue!!!!! I cried like a bitch and loved it like crazy.
Oh all the feels in this book. But this is a Jessica Gadziala book so you know going in that you will feel a lot. We finally get the history of Adler and what a horrific and heart-breaking story it is. But then you meet Lou, my heart hurt so much for the little girl she was. But even knowing their back story and what made them who they are, reading about the two of them together makes it all worthwhile.
I think what I really liked about this book was how all in Adler was once he knew what Lou was to him. He didn’t sugar coat his history and wanted to tell his story to her, he wanted to be free from his past. Same with Lou, it took a bit longer but she wanted to Adler to know and understand her. I just loved the scene when she got why he loved her cooking for him, my heart melted.
Even with all the heavy stuff, the scenes with 2.0 version of the girl club were awesome. I so love Peyton, she is a nut, but a lovable one. I loved how they all rallied around Lou, especially Lenny, they understand what they each had lost. I just love how both Adler and Lou are not alone anymore and they have the happily ever after. And don’t get me started on the epilogue, loved it.
Thank you Jessica for another excellent story in the Navesink Universe
Adler was such a good book & its so satisfying to finally know about his past & to know all the secrets he was hiding. Adler has been just a passing through type character in some of the previous books but he always left you wanting more. His accent alone is enough to make a girl swoon but add in the long hair & nice body that's just down right hot! His past will make you sad but you finally understand why he is how he is & what exactly happened to him before he met Ward. Lou was one bad*a chick so of course I liked her instantly! Right from the start I was intrigued by her & wanted to know what her mission was & why it was so important to her. I liked how throughout Adler & Lou getting together previous books were sort of playing out in the background of their story like the whole V situation & you could see what else was going on during that time that we didn't get in the other books. Overall this was another amazing book by Jessica & you should one click immediately!!!!
Adler is unique. We met him in Grudge Match, where we learned that he and Ross Ward had been kidnapped as youths and held hostage in horrible conditions and made to fight for the sick entertainment of rich, dissolute b@st@rds. Scarred, jaded, and full of secrets, Adler is not one to share, not even with Ward, who is the closest thing to a brother that he'll ever have. Little does he suspect that the gorgeous chick across the hall from his apartment (ok, technically, he's only squatting because he stole the key from Addy) has nearly as many skills and secrets as he does. Intrigued by her comings and goings, he decides he's going to tag along with her one day, in spite of her protestations. Thus begins a beautiful friendship. Ok, it's not really a friendship at first, but hell, neither one can stop thinking about the other. Mind the triggers on this one, as the bad guys in this installment are sick mofos. Another fantastic storyline from Jessica Gadziala, and a truly worthy addition to the Navesink Bank saga.
Adler, the man of mystery, meets his match. Adler came in like a wrecking ball in Grudge Match where we first met him and left me with a strong desire for his story. I was not disappointed and LOVED who his woman ended up being. I couldn't wait to get to the part of the story where we would finally learn about Adler's past but it was Lou's past I was totally blown away and shocked by.
Its not all drama though – plenty of laugh out loud moments especially between the 2.0 gals. Another bonus is the epilogue – Jessica blows me away with those..
Adler. Oh Adler how I have been waiting for you! Your story was even more devastating than I originally thought. This story was full of promise and genuine struggles. I love how they completely just accepted each other and where they were both at. Another AMAZING read by JG. Thank you!!
Just need to give up on this author. I've tried several and I just don't think we jive; me the reader, she the author. Probably neither at fault here ...
Remind me to not try her again. Not fair to either of us!

Characters H-Adler, that accent though! I could just picture it in my head, and I loved it. He wasn't sacred to love his girl, and that nice to see.
h- Lou 5 stars, she was a badass!!! But still had a soft side.
Parts I loved EVERYTHING!!!! The stuff that came out of Adler mouth, had me laughing so hard. I loved getting to see everyone again.
Parts I didn’t like Nothing, I liked it all
Sexy time 4 stars
