Now, at last...she finds herself in the heart of Revelen, and face to face with this greatest of threats.

But all is not as it seems, and soon Sienna is embroiled in yet another mystery that will push her to her limits, and one which will make her question who she is and what she stands for in a way that no one ever has before.

So... We finally get to find out the deal with Revelen, and it's a doozy! (We also get to meet the guy that turned Friday into a gibbering wreck)

This instalment is the longest OOTB book to date, but is still chock full of the usual, expected RJC highs and lows with barely a second for our girl to catch her breath. There are more characters you just want to reach in and high-5 in the face with a shovel, but it's a Sienna book, so you know she'll do it for you at some point.
Another stunning episode, beautifully written, with a pretty breath-taking finale. I can hardly wait for "Flashback".

A little disappointed \mad at the narrative

She had a couple of obvious choices\opportunities to enhance herself and still use it for good... I know the point is keeping her with pure raw talent and ability, but gosh! Give her back flight or something. The whole reason i got into the series is because her power potential arsenal was infinite! Otherwise it was pretty good...

Awesome book, loved that it was longer and can’t wait to start the next one. Robert Crane’s Girl out of box is best series ever!

Sienna and Revelen have been on a sure fire head on collision course for a while now but I can honestly say I wasn't expecting any of what would happen in Hero.
Right from the beginning there are surprises in this book....."oh my God" moments and revelations which leave you open mouthed in shock but excited as to how they will affect things moving forward.
So does Sienna choose family and a way out or not ...... Yeah it's never as easy as that and chaos ensues. This one turned a corner in the Sienna story with the very dynamic, clever plot twists and a completely different mood to the more recent books. Pure brilliance from RJC

Wow!

The action never stops & the quips flow. In this epic 22nd book of the series I still find I can't get enough of Sienna & her squad. Fast moving, blood flowing & bad guys getting taken out in a myriad of Sienna style ways. In some surprising developments she comes up against a personal choice which will change her path & life irrevocably. Read it, live, laugh & love right along with our heroine as she does her thing.

Robert does a number of things really well in this book.

The action sequences are amazing. And very Sienna. He writes her personality so well it flows for the reader. Some books it's plot, action, more plot, more action. Sienna books are woven so strongly that the action is integral to the plot.

I also like the way he has of putting Sienna down and having her learn humility but then, when someone else other than her sorry self (she seems to go through a lot of "I deserve this") is being threatened she rises to the occasion. Her complexity and self-awareness has grown through the series and at this point I think she's finally understanding her own balance.

Lastly I like that her support team is an integral part of her power. They are not overwhelming "deus ex machina" and are written into the story like they belong there. But they also are like extensions of her action. It's almost like she has a hidden power where she plans something knowing that plans almost always fail, leads the way into a conflict, and then attracts the right person for the job to deal with the task at hand. Much like how she came up with the method of using Greg Vansen's power to kill Rose, in this book she seems to lead an even bigger organization - almost by accident. But there are no accidents when a Cassandra is involved. :)

All in all, Robert J. Crane did a bang up job. Pun intended.

The first thing I have to say about Hero is that it’s a lot longer than the rest of the Sienna books – not in a bad way! I would periodically check to see where I was in the book as I was so deep into the storyline that there were almost panicky moments of ‘oh god.. please don’t say you’re going to end it here! I can’t take it!!’. I did, eventually get a grip. After about the sixth freak out..

But I digress. Hero, for me was easily the best Sienna instalment to date – we finally get to Revelen and start to unravel at least some of the mysteries that have been popping up. And DAYUMMMMM!! Some of them are doozies. Like, majorly epic. And I’m not going to tell you, because you need to RAFO. No, really, you NEED TO!! There wasn’t a single moment that I wasn’t riveted to my kindle screen. There were several moments where I was glad that I am newly single, because no-one should witness you jumping on your bed at 44 whilst only in your scrundies because you’ve just hit a major plot point. Or weeping into your coffee at 4am because, well, you can’t sleep anyways, so you’re going to read the whole book, and that one bit is just totes emosh..

Utterly fantastic. Now I just have to develop some patience and wait for the next, because goshdarnit, I really want to find out where we go next.. 

A satisfying roles coaster ride.

Given the nature and style of the book some of the quick fix solutions to a few of the cliffhangers can be forgiven as the story thunders along at quite a lick.
The intertwined narrative over many locations kept the flow and at now part could be described as the slow bit. Old enimes and alies join in the proceedings. And some other threads from before tied up, serum and the like.
Not what I would call a starting point to start reading this series but very enjoyable when you get to it. Apparently this is the longest book yet, but given the fact it was impossible to put down, and was not a chore to read, did not "feel" that much longer. If you like Mira Brand you will love "girl in the box".
No swearing (real bad swears), not to blood thirsty and no graphic sex stuff, a safe YA read to, both series.

One of the best in the series

I really enjoyed Sienna’s “meeting with destiny“ and found the twists and turns to be thrilling. The last few books in this series have certainly led up to this adventure, but I was completely surprised (in the best possible way) by this episode in our heroine’s life! The story is fast paced, with a nice helping of humor and superhuman yummies. Robert Crane has redeemed himself in my eyes after publishing several shorter, much less satisfying Sienna books in the recent past (I’m still mildly annoyed by what he did to her in Scotland). Readers who are new to the Out of the Box world may find this book less satisfying because in order to fully appreciate the story they will need to know some of Sienna’s history, although I think a newbie will still find it gripping and enjoyable.

WHAT I LIKED
Sienna continues to be the biggest and baddest female lead that I've had the pleasure to read. Her adversaries are never redundant and she keeps the plot interesting. In this particular book it was cool to learn a bit more about her past and family tree, Crane has done a solid job in painting the full picture of Sienna.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
I loved everything.

WOULD I RECOMMEND
I would assume you'd only have gotten this far if you have read all of "The Girl in the Box" before getting to part 22 of "Out of the Box". If so, then you are like me, too invested to stop now.

At last!

I've been counting the days for this book to arrive in my greedy hands. Boy oh boy! It was truly worth the wait! The baddies were insane and Sienna rocks. Harry, Scott, Cassidy and of course big bro Reed were awesome! About time the country got behind her. There was so much villainy in this book it was epic. Loved Lethe and of course Vlad aka Death, Zollers on the scene helping Sienna too. I loved it! It had everything I was hoping for and much more! Thank you Mr. Crane another fantastic rollicking read xxxx

Wow

I took a break for a while on Sienna and crew right before Apex. Not because of the writing in any way, but because Sienna just had so much heartache. I bought Apex anyway, and waited a while to get back to the books. I am soooo glad I did! The stories just keep getting better, the hook (s) in this one... I can't wait to keep going. Even more, Sienna is learning new lessons, maybe from her own experiences or maybe maturity... but wow. I'm so excited to find out what happens next!

Best one yet

Holy wow! What an intense read. This book had me hooked from the first chapter. Sienna back to her badass ways and if you’re looking for a book full of action and one liners that you couldn’t make up, then this is the book for you. By far the best in the series yet. Can’t wait to see what happens to Sienna next. These books will never get old, awesome read from a genius of an author

Cassidy becomes the quarterback

Lots of the gang get a chance to become heroes including Sienna who finds out that dysfunction runs deep in her family. The good news is that she is up for every challenge including an army of mercs and world class metahumans.

As always quips fly with at least one about the size of her ass. Battle scenes move along fairly crisply although they remain as improbable as always. What I most enjoyed was Reed and Scott in action.

This was not what I expected. At all. I mean, obviously there is a bunch of kicking a$$. And there are some touching family moments.

But Revelen was a revelation. And perhaps some light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe. I suspect that Crane has something up his sleeve to torture our favourite snarky protagonist.

Another hit for me.

Another fantastic tale

A rollercoaster of a ride from Mr C!
Sienna discovers lots of interesting information, she is back (almost) to her old self, but a tad reflective (on occasion)
A tale that takes you through a gambit of emotions and throws more confusion & chaos into the mix that is Sienna’s life!
Waiting with bated breath for the next instalment.
Loved it Mr RJC!

I feel like this is one of the best books of the series. Still has it’s funny dialog and good scene writing. But feels deeper, more visceral. Maybe just more..... I loved reading it esp late in the evening when everyone else was sleeping and I could really concentrate on it. Very good series altogether and the lead up to this book is great.

Good read

Great story and as always in a Sienna Nealon book there is fantastic action and witty dialog. There were quite a few typos in this book and that did distract me some when I ran across them. I would recommend this book to any reader that enjoys very humorous dialog and lots of action.

I love every book in this series, though some are darker than others. I love the pop culture references (even though I don't always get them) and the character development. Although you'd think that a series this long about the same character might get stale, but the Sienna books always promise something new and fun! Keep 'em coming!

Brilliant writing!

So I quit writing reviews for every book because I have a loss for words after reading so many great books in a series! This one, however, ended in the way I needed it to end and felt it was a bit overdue. The fighting scenes are top notch and made me feel like I was there watching from a corner apartment in Revelen! Just great writing!

Finally!!!!

I’ve obviously loved all of the books in series in the box and out of the box because let’s face it I wouldn’t have just read book 22. That being said...finally, it took a long time (I don’t want to give anything away)

Just keeps you wanting more

I keep expecting one of this series to disappoint, after all how do you keep standards so consistent, but they don't. I love the characters, the dialogue and the twists don't feel overdone. How?????

Loved it! The nonstop suspense and plot twists were just enough to keep me constantly yearning for the next chapter. The ending was so satisfying, and I can't wait to see how it'll be factored into the next installment.

Sienna

I think that you are making sienna into something that she hasn't been become. A total badass. ShE should be able to consume and get different powers. That is what makes her Sienna.

Sienna has been taken to Revelen, where she learns who Vlad really is & what he wants from her. This was by far one of the best books in the series.I loved it! Very interesting on all parts. Solid five stars.
