Davis Sanders

I'm a bit on the chubby side, and I tend to somehow walk around with at least one foot hanging out of my mouth at all times. It's amazing how spectacularly I can vomit out a run-on sentence with every phrase being more offensive than the last. When my father sends me to Purdy, Nebraska to talk my favorite author into signing on with his publishing company, I know he doesn't know what kind of author the man is, and that the whole venture is a lost cause. One, an author of gay romance wouldn't touch Sanders' Publishing with their worst enemies…pen. And two, has there actually ever been someone with less social skills than me? But he's the overly controlling parent that I can't seem to get out from under the thumb of. And I'd really like to meet one of my favorite authors in person. And then I do. And he's truly the most gorgeous, delicious man I've ever met in my life, and me fantasizing about all the things I want to do to him is pointless. Right? Except, all the things he writes about in his books are real, and my birthmark makes me something I've never been in my entire life. Important.

Ward Butler

I'm a quiet man, usually. Not because I'm shy, or even antisocial, but because I like to sit back and watch. I'm an observer. And sometimes, I'm lonely. I was starting to worry that our leap was going to meet its quota of soulmates before I found mine. I mean can we even fit any more gay men into our micro-town? I feel like there is a law somewhere about it. When the old, bigoted geezer from Sanders' Publishing shows up at my not-job to offer a contract I've turned down multiple times already, I'm ready to throw him out on his wrinkly rear-end. Only, the delicious little chubby I find waiting for me is definitely NOT Alder Sanders. But he IS my mate, and he's flipping perfect. His body was made for tying to the bed and devouring. If we can somehow make it past Alder Sanders, my mate's insecurities and the creepy cult's terrifying new chemical weapon, maybe it will actually work out. One could hope, right? Because I'd really like to get Davis back to my room and do ALL the hot stuff.

Warning: Mpreg elements!

Also, my books have little to no angst, and lots and lots of fluff! They are better read in order, because I kind of write them like a continuation of a story, and I don't like to repeat explanations over and over if I can help it. No cheating, because that makes my heart hurt. And definitely a HEA! I write 'em short and sweet, because I like to read 'em short and sweet. Sorry, I just don't want anyone being disappointed if they like the angst filled heart-rippers that are chapter after chapter of emotional upheaval. (I read those too, but I have to be mentally prepared, and have a few days to put aside for recovery!) "These read more like a romantic comedy than a romantic drama.

Enjoy!! ::blowing you kisses::

In this sixth instalment of the Chosen series, quiet and steadfast leopard shifter Ward finds his fated mate in chubby nerd-boy Davis, who comes to town as a representative of his father’s publishing company to try and sway author Ward to sign with them.

As a plus sized person myself, I appreciated reading about one of my own finding a forever love and being worshiped for the extra cushioning. Davis, with his uncontrollable rambling and his cute little bow-ties and suspenders, had a lot of insecurities, all thanks to his cruel father and scathing past boyfriends, but I adored how he learned to love himself in all the right ways because of the way Ward made him feel sexy and empowered, loving on him for exactly who he was, love handles and all.

Although the realization of shifters and what it means to be a mate and a “chosen” is always a fairly smooth transition in these stories, I particularly liked how Davis ran with it this time around, accepting what he had already learned in his years of shifter romance reading as actual truth. It was a fun spin on the unveiling process, that’s for sure.

I also appreciated that we finally were given an mpreg 101 lesson this time around, thanks to our friendly neighborhood fox shifter (Foster, MC from book four), as the logistics up until this point had been super vague on the whole thing, which was kind of annoying considering the underlining theme of the entire series is about shifters finding their “chosen” male mates who can breed with them. We’ve still—six books in—not yet had any of the couples give birth on page, but now more than one pair of mates are expecting and it was definitely about time for the hows and the whys.

This was on par with the rest of the series for its light-heartedness and it’s easy reading, as well as it’s speedy but sexy mating arcs, but I rounded this one up mostly for the humour. I’ve laughed a lot over the course of this series, but this book specifically had me in stitches. I can’t get enough of Bennett’s playfulness (MC from book two) and the fun way the group dynamics play out when a larger number of the men from this series share page time. It’s highly entertaining and I appreciate the levity.

Again, though, I would not recommend these books be read as standalones—the entire thing reads as a run-on story, regardless of the fact new couples feature in each book.

Another super sweet and cute addition to this series. It was definitely insta-love on steriods: ILY's after 30 hours but hey, it's a true mate book so I'm down with that.

I am a sucker for an awkward, nerdy character who has diarrhea mouth and an imperfect body. Davis was just that. I loved him. And Ward was the silent observant type who was into Davis' body like nobody's business. No pun intended there.

The ending was rushed in a wham, bam, thank you ma'am kind of way which disappointed me. But I loved this couple.

Hot Stuff (Davis) and Ward were such a fun mates to read about, the author is such an expert at writing romantic humorous fiction that I just can't stop laughing! Another sweet, sexy and funny love story!

Davis was fun and I loved his weirdness. He was so much fun!

But I couldn’t get over the fact that Ward was basically a feeder. He got turned on by feeding Davis.

Now I’m all for accepting anyone’s body the way they are, but I’m also for being healthy. I’m all for bad food choices (pizza, yum!), but if you don’t balance this out with fruit and vegetables, then you’re not making the best decisions, health wise.

Davis was chubby, and that’s just fine, but Ward told him that when they bonded he would have shifter metabolism, so he would just have to feed Davis more so he could stay chubby. Sure, you want your mate to stay chubby so you’re just going to feed him the bad stuff so he stays like that.

But I guess when you’re an immortal shifter you don’t actually have to worry about heart attacks and stuff….

HAHA! This was like meet and get at it. Whew!

I found it fun that Ward wrote M/M shifter romance and they were TRUE. HAHA!

I'm on the fence about the chubby though. I think it's cool that Ward didn't want a model and he didn't mind a little chub but, as someone who has always battled with her weight, I just don't know anyone who actually wants to be overweight. Accepted yes but I don't think anyone sets out to have a weight problem. So, well, I don't know.

I'd sign up for shifter metabolism though, RIGHT NOW!

This series is just so damn cute and sweet.

This is something you want to read when you want something sweet and adorable. I loved Davis so much, he was adorable.

There is an underlying plot that keeps the series interesting.

A good read.

Okay Ms. Light, I like your series very much. It's light, cute and has a hint of dominance. BUT what I don't like is the lack of plot. Don't get me wrong you give us the fated mates thing perfectly but yet again you give us little substance with the conflict. You have a hate group trying to kill all shifter kind and you dissonant less than one chapter to the cause. I would love to see more.

I forgot to log this one when I read it a couple weeks ago.
Davis is giving Bennett a run for his money in the funny guy department, he was cute with his ramblings. But I need something to happen! We're getting bits and pieces, but it's becoming a little too drawn out. I'm invested now, though, so it's on to the next!

This was a cute story. What I liked particularly about was that Davis was somewhat overweight and Ward just thought he was perfect.

Finally a lead character with love handles!!! I loved this and it’s brilliant how Davis handles trying to love himself as much as Ward does 😍

I get so excited about plainer heroes with not perfect bodies but this book just moves to fast to be any good with character development or plot development.

It is a happy fantasy for fated mated book though and an easy read.

Schade.

Davis and Ward are great together. Davis has been controlled by his father, even into adulthood, and when he's sent to convince Ward to sign with his dad's publishing company, they find each other instead. A sweet read!

Blah... I usually like these little novellas. A short, sweet, witty and smutty read after a long day of work is enjoyable when I don’t feel like digging into a longer read. This series has hit that mark for the most past, and all have been a 3 star for me, don’t love it, don’t hate it, but enjoyable enough to keep me entertained.

Unfortunately they just seem to keep getting cheesier and cheesier. This one was just dripping with sugar and cheese, so much so that it was just a hot mess imo.

Before I felt like I could at least fall back on this series if I couldn’t find something to read. After this one I’m pretty sure I’m just going to try harder at finding something else.

Fun and wonderful

I think Ward and Davis are my favourite couple so far. They are so sweet and I love the dynamic between them.

We get some resolution from the main plot as well and some fun news.

I can't wait for the next one

Can a gorgeous writer fall for a cute chubby guy? Two words: Mate & chosen.

So continues the Chosen saga. I loved this book. It shows that there is someone for everyone. That size & shape don't matter to a willing heart. You will become involved in the character's lives. Old friends are here. So is the continuing problem posed by the cult. You have to read this book!
Davis comes to town looking for Ward, to try & get him to sign with his father's publishing house. Chubby, nerdy, with no filter, he thinks no one could ever find him attractive. Ward hates Davis's father. But when he sees the cutie in bow tie & suspenders, his leopard screams Mate. Mine. When Ward realizes Davis is a chosen, he must introduce Davis to shifter ways, and convince him that he really is perfect for him. Ward has always been attracted to men who jiggle. Davis just needs to overcome years of being put down for his looks.
Ward & Davis will have their HEA. Along the way, they will discover hidden strength & courage. When the cult comes calling, the whole leap will be tested.
Come. Join Ward & Davis on their journey. Laugh with them. Share their joy, happiness, and love. You will love this book!
Please read the first 5 books. The storyline flows from one book to another. You will be glad you took the time to read them. I cannot wait to read book 7.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

PLEASE READ FIRST MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings (thanks to amazon I had to change it again and 'upgrade' it a little bit.
My old 3* is now a 3,5* and clicked with a 4*):

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like 'Liberty' from Seth King,
'Save the kids' series from EM Leya or
'Jesse's Smile' from Angelique Jurd), it's like
an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey books) it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times (most romances where you can enjoy
for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, but
not really an often reread book

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok) It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

My favorite so far

The blurb for this book was actually the reason that I got curious about this series and bought the previous five. I was certainly not disappointed.

I liked how there was a bit more going on with the overall plot, but since this book took place in something like 48-72 hours, the main focus was on Ward and Davis. It was cute how Davis already knew about shifters through Ward's published novels and so he was fully prepared to move things along when he found out that shifters were real. I also loved how Ward consistently reaffirmed his love to Davis, and his appreciation for his mate.

It was refreshing to see an appreciation of a body type that is certainly more standard than your typical romance MC.

This is book 6 of the chosen series Though I love them all, occasionally I get a favorite like I did with Thompsyn in book 2. Ward and Davis are my new favorites. This one lightens the angst from Rory’s story with a chubby Davis with a hateful father that puts him down and insecurities. Ward likes a man with more meat on his bones and when he meets Davis he is everything he ever wanted in a mate. Now to get him out of his bigoted father’s clutches and show him the books he edits are not all fiction.
If you like a good shifter book, with some humor, light angst in a few stories and interesting plots this series is absolutely great!
I recommend the narration. Kenneth Obi gives these stories so much life and excitement.

And the series just gets better

I am completely head over heels in love with this series! Seriously! Every time I think that it can't get any better, it does. I love the diversity of the characters, both human and shifter, and how, what are seen as imperfections by most people, are actually treasured attributes. In this book, Davis is a chubby guy who doesn't think that anyone would love him because of it. Ward is the perfect compliment to him, and shows that attraction can take many different forms. I loved how Davis basically said whatever he was thinking! He's a totally fresh breath of air and I'm so looking forward to reading more about him and the rest of the gang up to this point. Loved this!

Mentions of mpreg (not the MCs)

Davis is...well....fluffy. He's a chubby man who wears suspenders, bowties and cute little glasses. When he's sent by his @sshole of a father to seek out the a well known self published romance author who refuses to sign up with their publishing company, he's wondered what he's gotten himself into. Davis is surrounded by rugged, masculine men and he's hoping his brain can muzzle his mouth so he doesn't get himself in trouble.

Ward loves fluff. He's a chubby chaser who likes a bit of extra on his men. He likes them smart too and Davis ticks all his boxes. It's not surprising that fate has made them mates and Ward goes out of his way to prove to Davis he wants him, all of him, just as he is.

I liked this part more than the first one. It was a typical insta-love with soulmates, but done in a really charming way. Davies was super cute, and I'm happy there's a chubby rep character because they are rarely shown in books, which makes me sad. Every body shape should be appreciated, so this book gets a higher rating from me for that.

I also appreciate that the author explained some issues related to male pregnancy in a quite sensible way, including how such matters could be discovered, for example, during autopsies. I really liked that she provided such a broad explanation, and it added another positive point to my rating.

A short but sweet story. It was a good read.

As usual with this series, I loved this book. Davis was a bow tie-wearing, cutie, whose mate was Ward, and he did wonders for Davis's low self esteem. Davis had a terrible father who was emotionally abusive towards Davis, but Ward put him in his place perfectly, which was one of my favorite parts, along with when the other couples get together and talk things out and joke around with each other. So fun. I'm patiently waiting for the next book of this creative, and well written little series. It also has its super passionate moments. =)

Davis and Ward

Cute! This book had me giggling out loud several times and others just smiling. There's just something about a man who loves a chubby, diarrhea mouth guy. Davis thinks he's not sexy because he's not got washboard abs or a models body, but Ward thinks he's the leopards meow.. purr... growl. Apparently they sound like a wood saw... FYI. Anyway, Not Stuff from the Chosen Series is cute, a quick read and full of fun and sexy M/M times.

Excellent Reading

I love this series it's funny, sexy, mpreg, mysterious and I laughed so much more throughout not stuff I had tears. I just hope Ward does as he promised to his mates father and breaks his company. I'm curious about the new book coming out. Harry's mate getting slightly nervous makes one wonder what is going to happen next.

Davis is adorably awkward...

I needed something with little to no angst and heavy on sweetness... And that's what I got with this book and rest of series. Quick, adorable and hilarious.. I love it. I really like Davis - I totally understand the socially awkward. And to have him be chunky but totally loveable is awesome. Definitely recommend.

Davis was a cute character when he rambled but his self confidence issues grew redundant and annoying after a few pages. I felt like the story plot was very flimsy and predictable. I also felt like it was really cheesy and didn't really enjoy the characters development. I don't think I'll be continuing this series. It should have stopped after the fifth book.

Sweet chubby MC

This is a shifter/paranormal suspense romance series, the sixth book in the series and it has to be read in order! The chubby MC is treated dreadfully but finds a loving mate. Seriously go back to book one to start this series as they literally read like one continuous story.
