He'd always said that his one true love was the sea... but he never guessed that it was true.
Wild as the seas he ruled, Poseidon was never one to listen when he was told to curb his wild ways. Passionate and untameable, Poseidon’s rages were as terrifying as the storms he whipped across the oceans of the world, but when he calmed, there was nothing to match his beauty. When the goddess’ rebellion divided the pantheon, Poseidon took refuge in the sea, and spent most of his time away from Olympus so he would not have to face the cruelty of the goddess’ betrayal.
After centuries of loneliness, Poseidon is once again absent from Olympus and unable to hear his brother’s call that the oracle’s promise had been fulfilled. But Poseidon has other things on his mind, a Californian surfer named Brooke Hart… and he can’t seem to get the memory of the shy blond’s eyes out of his head.
Brooke is a quintessential California surfer. Blond, tanned, and toned… but he’s also incredibly shy and avoids the limelight whenever possible. When one of the brashest, loudest, and cockiest surfers on the beach shows him some attention, it’s easier just to run away and take solace in the ocean until one day, his desire to be alone puts him in more danger than he could ever imagine, and his rescuer is none other than the Surf God he’d tried so hard to avoid. What he doesn’t know, is that Patryck is an actual god, and he must make a choice between his lonely life, or an option that seems too incredible to believe.
Rip Tide is book 2 in the New Olympians series. 30K words, with a HEA featuring a shy, loveable omega an alpha-god to claim him.
Poseidon doesn't believe in the curse. He's skeptical. But when he's drawn to Brooke and when they touch, well it's a spark.
Oh this one was so sweet. I loved it. I love how Poseidon was with Brooke. He was perfect. Poor Brooke. I thought he was sort of a doormat in the beginning with his friend Tanner. Tanner annoyed me and I wanted Brooke to tell him to fuck off. Or at least Poseidon to do it. But Brooke is a sweet gentle soul who just wants to be in the water. The perfect mate for Poseidon.
On to that rude, broody God, Hades. Let's hope he changes his tune because so far, he's a dick and not the good kind... 😉
I think I liked this better than the first. This whole idea of a feud between Gods is very appealing because in the course of Ancient Greek History no one really took Zeus or his brothers to task. They, if the legends are true, were very licentious and way too free with spreading the Godly love. Not that the Goddesses were that innocent either but something had to give.
So here we have Poseidon. At first I didn't like him much because he was a little too arrogant and flighty. But I guess him being a God kind of contributed to the attitude. But in the course of the book he hit a personal growth spurt so to speak. There were moments that I genuinely felt for him. In the end I felt more positive towards him especially given how he treated Brook and how patient he was.
Brook seems to be a lost soul just drifting through life and his only passion being the ocean and surfing. He comes with emotional baggage of his own. I would have liked to know more about his past than it was mentioned in the book. But all in all he was sensible, not prone to hysterics but a little bit of a doormat. My conclusion was that he needed a keeper. His friend Taylor used him, that was clear but Brook kind of let him so I can't blame either side.
I loved the talks Poseidon and Brook had - they were sometimes light, sometimes turning slightly philosophical and deep. I sometimes wonder if someone came to me that I was acquainted with and told: "Hey, I am a God! I will make your dreams come true and etcetera etcetera" would I believe as readily as Brook did? He was pretty laid back about the whole divine part - it was both astonishing and slightly unbelievable. But I really liked how their relationship progressed from start to finish. And Poseidon showing how powerful he is - mmhhmm. Any day!
It was a lovely continuation of this series. Some characters from previous book made their appearance, a little more was revealed about Hades and what other Gods were up to. I liked this book. It was a bit shortish and if you want a lot of steam, you wont get it here. There are only two times that anything smexy happens. But it didn't take away from the story which had action, flirting, shy surfer and an immortal with volatile temper and penchant for sushi. So it was a good read.

Omg!!! when they were surfing together 🥹 so cute!! I'm really hating the cut-offs. This one wasn't as bad as book 1. I just feel like there could have been a little bit more.
I liked Poseidon and Brooke, the shy surfer, way more than the first couple. I'm not saying that this book deserved more stars, bcs sadly it doesn't, but at least Patrick(Poseidon) was less than a jerk than his older brother, and actually cared about his lover and his hobbies/decisions(he was nice, we could say). There were still many things that didn't get an explanation or weren't so clear, but the scenes were better linked together than the previous book.
I really enjoyed how this one had more to do with what’s lurking in the shadows; waiting for the God’s Sparks. Even though these are quick reads that kept me entertained, I do wish that the author would have spent more time with the certain parts of the storyline.
For example, it would have been nice to have more of a background on Brooke. Not to mention, what his roommate/manager Tanner thought might have happened to him since it seems like Brooke just vanishes in the end so to speak.
Loved I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion. This is the 2nd instalment of the new olympians series and follows Poseidon (Patrick) who at the end of the first book rushes out to get his human who he's been keeping on the download. But with the threat of there wife's destroying these little sparks within these humans to stop them from completing the prophecy he knows its time to come clean to his fated mate about who he is and to return to Olympus. Brooke loves the sea but when pressured into a surfing competition that he's not keen to do he goes out to practice but unbeknownst to him Amphitrite his boyfriend's ex wife is finally seeing the danger and draws a target onto Brookes back. I enjoyed this book this is where the characters already had established there relationship before the book begins but we still feel the love and romance between them as well as the danger that lurks to steal there happiness. Great characters, funny and a brilliant read that I demolished in one sitting. Can't wait for Hades story to come. Great cover.
Poseidon finally gets to find his spark! He tried doubting what was going on with Zeus and didn't want to get his hopes up about ending his loneliness. It all makes sense in his world, though, when he meets Brooke. Brooke is a professional surfer who feels most at home when he is in the water, and that is a perfect match for Poseidon. Brooke meets "Patrick" and is instantly attracted to him. They have an immediate connection, but Brooke fears the feelings he is starting to have for Patrick. Everything Poseidon can offer Brooke is exactly what Brooke needs. I liked watching them get to know each other. There is definitely more to the overall story here with the other brothers and the curse, and I can't wait to see what happens next. Very interesting series, and I am loving the story.

I have always liked Poseidon and seeing that Jason Momoa in Aquaman really resembles the old stylisation of the ancient Greek God makes this one hot read as he too fights to break the curse that Hera cast aeons ago in a fit of jealous rage.
Now we are talking. It gets a little darker here. Poseidon and Brooke have a darker journey than Zeus and Cameron. We also see some new danger that wasn’t thought of. I love watching it all unfold.
This second story of the series was quite an enjoyable read. I loved the relationship between Brooke and Patrick (Poseidon). The ending was nicely done, with an epilogue that works as a bridge to the next book which is Hades story, due out Sept 30. I liked the development of both MCs and I can't wait to see what the author does with grumpy Hades next. Apparently after that, Hermes and Ares are up next... then maybe even Apollo. I like the author's take on how the Greek Gods into this mess with Hera's curse and all... it is very believable that she would take that kind of revenge on her now ex-husband. All in all, this short (118pgs) book was a feel good, easy and happy read!
3.5 for me, not quite 4 stars. I'm really enjoying this series - I love the idea of taking Greek gods that we all know about, and giving it a m/m spin with a touch of mpreg! What fun!
Poseidon AKA Patrick finds his spark/mate in Brooke, a surfer who loves to surf but is finding himself kinda stuck in a bad circle where he doesn't want to compete, he wants surfing to stay fun, but in order to be able to surf, he needs to compete to make a living. I thought that these two were very sweet together, I loved their connection. I did feel like their story felt incomplete. I got to the end, and I felt like there should have been like another 15-20% of story for these two.
I really can't wait for Hades' story - the blurb for that story is actually what got me into this series, so I'm really looking forward to his story. I like what the author is doing here with giving some conflict and some element of danger in the Goddesses trying to keep the gods from finding their mates. I hope that the worldbuilding in this will continue to grow and develop as we get more stories!
I am really liking this series and in this installment we were able to see the goddess attempt to thwart Poseidon from his spark. It appears that after all this time the goddess Hera is still just angry and will destroy the sparks before the Gods can discover them!
I really like CJ Vincent's take on Greek mythology. It's definitely something different, and I always love something a little different.
Poseidon loves the sea, of course, and he thinks that he will just let the sea be his love forever, forget his brother Zeus talking about finding the spark who can be their life partner and survive the curse cast on them by the goddesses, and just live his life. But, it's never that easy, because there's this surfer guy...
Brooke loves the ocean, it's the only place he feels at home. He'd rather spend the time out on the water surfing than do just about anything else. In order to do that, he has to do competitions because he can't afford to live any other way. He's got a roommate who manages him and pushes Brooke to do things that he might not otherwise do. After his latest win, a gorgeous man named Patrick came up to talk to him, and that was all she wrote.
OK, first of all. I totally hate Brooke's roommate. He's totally using Brooke things that they are best friends. I guarantee that he's benefitting more than Brookie is. I think Patrick/Poseidon and Brooke are such a cute couple, so stinking cute. I hope that they have all the most awesomest adventures and life.
I can't wait to see Hades fall. It will epic, I'm pretty sure.
This is the second book in C.J. Vincent's New Olympians series and take place at roughly the same time as the first book Lightening Strikes. In this book it's Poseidon (Patrick)'s turn to find his spark, Brooke is an up and coming surf champion and feels more comfortable in the ocean than on land and in his own words he's part fish. At the beginning of this book we find out more about the war between the Gods and Goddesses, how Hera's curse comes about. Poseidon at the outset seems arrogant, self-righteous and mercurial, as the book progresses he calls and grows showing a softer side upon meeting Brooke. I found Brooke to be a likeable character a typical laidback sugar stereotype but I found the ease in which he accepts everything too far fetched also these seemed to be a lot in his past that could have been explored. This book is just as good as the first, as the characters are as rich and detailed . I loved the uncommon feelings that the Gods had to work through when they come across the first mortals. The danger that they place their mortals in becomes more real to them in this book. I can't wait for Hades ' turn to fall seeing as he believes he can resist!
This is a fun continuation of the New Olympians series by CJ Vincent, and I am so glad Poseidon's story was as entertaining as I had hoped for. As we saw in book 1, he is not sold on this whole idea of finding his spark like Zeus did. Until Brooke, of course...
Brooke is sweet and loves the ocean (probably a good thing, considering.. ha!) .. and I liked the character quite a bit, but he definitely needs someone in his life aside from his roommate, who I do NOT have all the warm and fuzzy feels for. At all. But while there are sparks from the beginning, Brooke is overwhelmed and things don't quite go as Poseidon would hope. When Brooke is suddenly in danger, though, Poseidon will do everything he can to protect his man.
I like that this installment goes further into the underlying series arc and we learn more about what is going on with the sparks. I love CJ Vincent's take on Greek mythology. Love it. I do wish this one, like the first, had been a little longer to flesh out the story and Brooke's background a bit more, but I enjoyed it quite a bit and cannot WAIT for Hades next. If you are a fan of Greek mythology and mpreg, this is a series for you.
This book pissed me off so much at the beginning simply because Brook let his “best friend” Taylor walk all over him, belittle him and steal his boyfriends, without him doing ANYTHING ABOUT IT and even going so far as to blame himself. The things Taylor said to Brook....oh my god they made me furious.
This book has even less mpreg than the first one. Brook never gets pregnant on book and they have sex at the veeeery end of the book. The only pregnancy we see is at the epilogue and its Cameron from the 1st book; not Brook. So really? The mpreg tag is very slight or misleading, depending how you see it.
I am very skeptical about reading the 3rd or the 4th book, tbh. I will rather go and read some other Greek Gods fall in love with mortal book that’s more serious and has more depth.
PS: Whatever happened to the backstabbing-trash friend of his? Taylor? I wanted to see him put in place either by Poseidon or Brook.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have wanted to read this since Lightning Strikes came out as I want to see how this continues. Brooke is struggling with the direction his life is going, he wants to surf but his roommate has made it clear he can’t earn his way any other way than competing and all that goes with it. Poseidon is drawn to Brooke and quickly strikes up a friendship.
These two don’t spend as much time dancing around each other as Zeus and Cameron did but Poseidon had Zeus’s experience to build on though it quickly becomes more dangerous. I loved how accepting Brooke is once he actually knows what is going on, what he really wants is to be loved but also be able to be in the ocean. Poseidon doesn’t really fight with himself just worries about how to proceed but the goddesses take that option away from him. It looks like Hades is up next and I can’t wait to see the man find his other half.
The Goddesses cursed the Gods and life has been lonely, but some mortals with a divine spark can bring on the new age of Olympus. The New Olympians series takes us on a journey with the Gods as they search for their mortal mates and try to convince them to join them in immortality while keeping them safe from those who wish them harm.
Rip Tide is the second book of the series and is the sexy and sweet love story of adorable mortal surfer Brooke and the God Poseidon, aka Patrick. It is fun and entertaining story. Can't wait for next instalment.
I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.
This is the second book in The New Olympians Series. A wonderful book the writing was good. I think that this one was better than the first. But I think that it still needed more detail and background to make the story fuller. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Patrick or (Poseidon) and Brooke are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, betrayal, surfing, ocean, brothers, a roommate and more in this book. I thought that this was an enjoyable read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
I like the series and this book. I like the premise and find it to be interesting. I do wish that a little backstory on Brooke was given. Why is he alone sides from Tanner? Why does he feel like he needs to do what Tanner tells him to do? Also, what happens when he leaves?
This is a good book, it just leaves itself open. I liked how Poseidon decides to go about pursuing Brooke and how he doesn't want to lie to him.
Give it a chance and see what you think.
I received an ARC of this book from LesCourt Author Services. This is my honest opinion and review.
A great read that I really enjoyed especially since I love Greek mythology so I really liked reading about the gods and goddesses. I really like the whole premise of the curse placed by the goddesses and the gods trying to get around it. Poseidon and Brooke have great chemistry and I really enjoyed their journey together. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I still like the books of this series. I´m not so fond of the nearly instalove these books have. And I don´t like the predictability of the books. If you read the books in this series one after the other like I do right now it is nearly always the same plot. That´s a shame because the writing stile is one I like very much. Pitty I get bored with the books so much right now. I´ll still give the next one a try because Hades might be interesting. 3,5 stars from me
3.5✨ I liked this one, but there were some scenes that contradicted the first book. I felt like the first book was a rough draft and they edited things for book two. I felt the connection between the two MCs more in book 2 than in book 1. It’s a very interesting concept though. I am going to continue reading the series.
I love mythology so I was excited to read this book. I know I should have read the first book first, lol, but I wasn't lost at all because everything was explained.
My slight niggle (ok, it's more than slight) is that we barely have any Patrick(Poseidon)/Brooke time. I feel like there was more Tanner and Zeus&Hades time than anything. :(
I loved this book even more then the first. Patrick(Poseidon) and Brooke are such a sweet wonderful couple. I love that Brooke was so trusting and accepting of Patrick. It wasn't a long drawn out love story that involved rejection and heartbreak.
This is such a fun reimagining of the Greek gods. I have to wonder, as the gods find their sparks and Olympus is, once again, filled with children and life, will three goddesses who sided with Hera remain loyal in her spite, or will she end up abandoned and alone?
