Afully illustrated, award–winning collection of tales about haunted places—some of which you can visit. If you're fascinated by haunted houses, ghostly graveyards, historic haunts, institutional apparitions, or spirited saloons, this spooky and spine-tingling collection of supernatural stories from across the U.S. will tantalize your paranormal palate. Some of these hot spots are open to the public (and we include their address and website information), while others are private residences with no visitors allowed. In this bone-chilling volume, witnesses tell terrifyingly true tales of cursed roads, ghoulish schools, eerie eateries, and more—so expect to be frightened out of your wits!
Pretty comprehensive collection of stories from around the country. The stories that had a legend or backstory were much better than the “my friends and I heard strange noises in the dark” stories, which thankfully were a smaller portion of the book.
While a few of these stories were interesting, and I appreciate having names and addresses of haunted places across the US that I might enjoy visiting, for the most part this book left me bored. Told in a sparse sort of way without details had me hungry for more, and not in the good way. The collection of photos were obviously photoshopped. Which is not a crime, it's not like they were claiming the photos were real. But in a day when you can grab tons of ghost photos from people online or archived at many touristy haunted locations (perhaps the very haunted locations this book talks about? eh?) then why use fakes at all?
“Weird Ghosts” is a wonderfully eerie and imaginative journey that leaves you thinking long after you’ve finished reading. The unique blend of folklore, humor, and chills makes for an unforgettable experience. Each ghost story feels fresh and original, with enough weird twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. The writing is captivating, pulling you into a world where the supernatural feels oddly real. Whether you’re a fan of ghost stories or just looking for something different, this book delivers! A must-read for anyone who loves a mix of strange, spooky, and fun.
Like most of the books from this collection, this one was a bit hit or miss. Some of the stories were fascinating, and some of them were a struggle to get through at all. Overall though, it's a solid read with plenty of fun recollections of people's experiences with the paranormal. The photos add to the feel and keep it more entertaining even when the book slows down a bit. If you've enjoyed other books from this series, this one is worth a read.
I found some of these stories both creepy and enjoyable. That is some of them. The rest of the stories I found boring and bland. There were a few famous hauntings that I had heard of previously that gave an in depth looked which I enjoyed. While others were told from a third person perspective and provided no creep factor what so ever.
Lots & Lots of well written & very believable Narratives that fulfill The usual requirements for a genuine first person account, without any sermonizing or proffered ’explanations’, that invariably get in The way of a good yarn, whether true, exaggerated, or fabricated by honest mental illnesses ! ( ? )
It was okay, but some of the stories were not very interesting. I like reading more about the history behind a haunting but a lot of these were just short, random vignettes about a paranormal experience. I got bored about halfway through the book.
I absolutely loved this book! I'm all into ghosts and hauntings. This has so many great places to read about. I loved the history parts as well as the paranormal parts. A great book!!!
A hit-or-miss collection with mostly misses. Needs more details and historical background and site photos, and fewer stock photos and random anecdotes.
