Sixty Battles: The Complete Battles of Napoleon Bonaparte - From Toulon to Waterloo

Rate this book
"I have fought sixty battles and have learnt nothing which I did not know at the beginning..."

So said Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the greatest military commanders to ever grace a battlefield. Yet, how true was this statement? In this ground-breaking new book, military historian Ricky D Phillips sets out to answer that question, examining Napoleon's entire military career, battle by battle, from the very first to the very last, with all of the statistics, his now-famous action-packed narrative and a multitude of maps, listing every action, battle, skirmish or siege in which Napoleon ever commanded or took part, to unveil the truth behind the Napoleonic legend.

This is a tour de force of Napoleonic history. Every single battle or minor skirmish in which Napoleon commanded is examined in detail. Full data grids, incredible narrative, tactical and strategic analysis and 40 battle maps, including some really rare ones I had never seen. This absolutely is, or should be, the cornerstone of every Napoleonic library.

Kindle version is a disaster.

This would be a valuable, worthwhile reference book for any Napoleonic grognard, but unfortunately the Kindle edition is marred by literally hundreds of stupid typos ( "riving" instead of "driving", "the" instead of "they", etc.) which only get worse as one gets farther into it. I didn't even know there was a selection of maps at the back until I got there... They are not listed in the Table of Contents. Mon Dieu! This e-book is the literary equivalent of the prematurely blown bridge at Leipzig.
