The Traveler

Rate this book
Imagine for a moment that you could be sent back in time to witness the life of any historical figure. The Traveler’s Best Seller is a fiction novel about a humble school teacher who gets just that opportunity. Having already suffered great loss, and now facing a terminal cancer diagnosis, he embraces a bizarre “travel” opportunity offered by an unorthodox trio who seem unusually interested in fulfilling his dying wishes. It begins as a very human struggle with his fate, and delves into an odyssey of heart and soul as he surrenders to the adventure, eagerly returning to his classroom to share his newfound knowledge with his increasingly engaged students.

This book is a reminder to live your life without fear or the limitations and insecurities brought on by worrying about what others think. It will challenge how you feel about dying and dreaming, about your purpose, and about love and living in the here and now. This is a must read for teachers, students, and anyone facing mortality issues through cancer or the untimely loss of a loved one.

A thought-provoking read...left wanting more!

As someone who adores Historical Fiction, this book was right up my alley. I purchased the book and was kindly offered the Audible for free from the author himself! He suggested I listen to the Audible to really immerse myself in the travels. I couldn't put the book down, but I REALLY enjoyed the way the narrator brings the book to life. Although the adventures are thrilling, the audiobook still has a very gentle flow to it- making it a relaxing listen in the car.

Also, I think the author does a wonderful job of detailing the personalities of these historical characters. I love his interpretation of their mannerisms and traits. I feel more connected to George Washington, Mozart, and Cleopatra than ever! The one thing I will admit, this book brings up a few thought-provoking topics. I specifically am drawn to the conversation: If you could travel to heaven, would you want to come back? I was so stuck on this discussion that I did NOT see the twist coming at the end...of course, I wouldn't want to spoil it for you. All I will say is, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this author!

A sci-fi/historical fiction hybrid

How would you handle the last months of your life after a terminal diagnosis? The author uses this question as the premise of a very engaging novel, melding science fiction with historical fiction. As the story evo!ves, it makes the reader think about his own situation on our planet. Well done!

An imaginative and inspirational tale!

What can I say? I loved this book. It was phenomenally creative and inspirational at the same time. Its a powerful story, and I wish I could travel just like the main character. Brilliant for history lovers.

A clever, well written book that kept me so gripped that I read it in one sitting.
Beautifully descriptive, it transported me to other times and places…..”pink and brown conch shells adorn the beach.“
This book is certainly worth taking time out to read.

Interesting!

Interesting and touching as the same time...it can be frustrating when you know your days are numbered on this world the whole story seem like a true story.

Its both fun and serious, light and heavy. it's intellectually stimulating and irreverent at the same time. I enjoyed it and recommend it. If nothing else, it is a clever twist inside standard fair.
