Conditional Immortality: The Case for Orthodoxy on the Doctrine of Annihilationism

Rate this book
Hell has generally been accepted as the final place for the wicked. However, there are many disagreements among Protestant Christians on what hell is and what it does. Is hell a place of eternal torment or is hell a place of destruction? Traditionally, hell is viewed as a place of torment rather than a place of destruction. However, this traditional view is being challenged by proponents of Conditionalism – a theological view that says that eternal life is only given to the righteous, while the wicked will suffer destruction or annihilation. While this alternative view on the doctrine of hell has gained tractions in both popular and academic theologies, this view is still seen as heretical in the general Protestant understanding. Traditionalists argue that there is no solid biblical and theological evidence to support this view. This book was written to challenge this view by presenting the biblical and theological supports for Conditionalism with the expectation of having further conversations between conditionalists and traditionalists. This research project has found that there is substantial evidence for Conditionalism from biblical and theological perspectives. Therefore, this research project affirms that Conditionalism belongs in one of the views of the doctrine of hell. Furthermore, this research project also argues that by embracing Conditionalism as one of the alternative views on hell, one will have a higher view of God and Jesus’ redeeming work on the cross. In other words, Conditionalism does not only affect one’s eschatology, but it also affects one’s theology.

Absolutely brilliant work

Thank you very much for affirming exactly what the Scripture teaches ie conditional immortality. ECT is as you say heresy and ‘traditionalists’ cannot be said to be truly Christian as shocking as this sounds.
