Which way is that darn Scenting Ceremony, there are some hot shifters there!
Hannah is tired of her aunt and mother harping on her to get a mate, never gonna happen, no matter how many scenting ceremonies she goes to she is still going to be the pack Old Maid. She is not meant to have a life mate and she has come to accept that. Then why does that big as all get out wolf turn her on so and he smells so good! What Hannah doesn't know is that her Aunt Isabelle and her freind Grace from the Black Paw pack have set a plan in motion, one that will rock her world!
Tanner being the biggest man, wolf and a Beserker to top it off, not to mention that he can hear everyone's thoughts, doesn't even consider having a mate. When his alpha's mother sends him to deliver a package to Isabelle for the Scenting Ceremonies, he is hard pressed not to stay.. More so when his wolf catches a whiff of sweet strawberries, he can hardly contain him.
What fun in this action packed and magical story.

Never hesitate
This book brings us a new look at Black Paw Pack and the wolves who live there. These two characters had to learn the hard-way not to go against their nature, lucky for them they had a bit of divine intervention before they lost everything. There was so much action in this book and more than one revelation of things to come in the future. I’m looking forward to reading the next book.

2.5 stars. I didn’t hate it but it could have been so much better if it had been thought out a bit more.
Have not read anything by this author before so am unaware of the packs Norse history and characters. I have read the Sassy Mates - Wolfe Pack books.
Reading my way through the Sassy Ever After series in Kindle Unlimited is a good way to find new authors.
This should have been a DNF for me except I have just grabbed some BLACK PAW PACK books and I wanted to stick till the end to see how things developed.
Despite proof reading errors I was enjoying this until chapter 8, then it just became a series of stupid eye rolling scenes I think were meant to be tension filled but just lost the plot for me.
Our heroine Hannah, is anything but sassy. I found her attitude depressing, with her moaning about her weight, her looks and not finding a mate.
At the scenting ceremony Hannah smells something divine, wolfs out and goes racing off into the woods chasing the smell.
Our hero Tanner, from another pack, who I quite liked and was very interesting, is off running in the woods to get away from all the wolves at the scenting ceremony when he smells a divine scent too.
Unfortunately for him he stumbles upon three rogues that are torturing a female shifter with SILVER and a branding iron.
The hero attacks and beats them apparently half dead but does not kill them as he is on another packs lands. Fair enough, I can understand this fact.
Hannah also arrives on the scene and helps Callie the tortured woman, who is a stranger to the area.
What happens after this scene is what had me rolling my eyes.
Callie has managed to shift to wolf, Hannah sends her off into the woods, the same woods that she was originally lost in when the rogues caught her. HUH. As Callie never found her way to the scenting ceremony, or to the Wolfe’s to raise the alarm, she must still be lost in the woods.
Neither of the two H’ have called, (yes they have phones that transition in their wolf form), or sent up a howl for help to deal with the rogues.
Hannah is too busy giving Tanner a hard time. As in - You might be my mate but I will decide my future, not my wolf, or the fates, even though I have dreamed about you and you are super hot.
The hero is a giant wolf berserker but the highly smelly rogues sneak up on them kissing and knock him out and of course grab his new found but unclaimed mate and take her away. Tanner then phones for help when he comes too. Barbara and Tristan Wolfe are, in the authors own words, there WITHIN MINUTES. Hence the stupidity of the plot.
Then it got sillier for me as one of the rogues mate marks Hannah but that is okay as Rafe the Black Paw Alpha can just make a mate bond go away.
I sometimes wonder if authors would read their own books if someone told them the plot beforehand.
I love a good shifter romance but I hate being treated like I am simple or stupid. Make things believable in a world of make believe for my reading pleasure.

Tanner agrees to run an errand for a Black Paws matriarch and while avoid the festivities of another scenting ceremony he stumbles upon three rogues attacking a female. Meanwhile, pack spinster Hannah is not looking forward to another convergence and meddling from her aunt to pair up. However, a strange smell immediately called forth her wolf and sent her running into the woods. She finds a massive wolf battling strangers and works to free their hostage, only to end up exchanging places with the victim. Having finally found his mate Tanner

I like the adaptation of Norse mythology for some of our key magical elements. I wish that the specific details were flushed out more, but this is only a novella length supernatural romance. The downside of this fast-paced tale is that convenient plot points feel like convenient plot points. First, a group of creatures with highly sensitive senses fail to notice an attack a few feet from a large gathering. Responders don’t call for help using their readily available phones and send an injured girl into foreign woods to get lost again. Our massive berserker is taken down by one hit so his lady can be taken. The drama of this forced bond that will take her life goes away easily because of a known associate. Teleportation, mystical seers, and strange dreams all just happen. Nothing feels organic or grounded. If you are okay with that in your escapism fine, but when there is nothing but a meet cute to the romance I need something more to be entertained.

When meddling pack members get involved and bring Tanner to Hannah’s pack for the early scenting ceremony no one knew what they were starting. It seems fate and the Gods are also at play for Tanner and Hannah.
Hannah wants Tanner but is not just gonna be the good little mate and take is mating mark without laying down the rules. Unfortunately, they get side tracked and the bad guys swoop in stealing Hannah.
I loved the twist of this paranormal shifter story. I loved the Norse Gods and their mythology being brought forth into the story. I am going to grab another book in the series to see if they continue to Tanner/Hannah story because if so this Pack has some trouble coming their way.

Wolf shifter Tanner Larsen is more than a standard shifter - he is one of Odin's wolves and so has some special skills. He does also believe he has been cursed as those around him meet their mates and yet he is still alone. When he catches the sweet strawberry scent of his mate worlds collide and ancient legends are revealed to him. Tanner discovers that his curse may be the only way to save his mate when a rogue wolf tries to destroy them. Will they get a chance of a future together?.
I enjoyed this story which had true mates, respect for the female and emotional intelligence as Tanner and Hannah fought to keep their future alive. I loved the twist of the rogue wolves and their attitude towards women (and what Tanner did to them) as well as Hannah who was very sassy and completely determined to not just accept her mate and actually know more of him. The information from the Ancients will come into play later in the series I am sure. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

This was a quick shifter read that I enjoyed.
Hannah is a woman who is tired of being sent to these scenting ceremonies and not finding her mate. She has decided that she is just going to be single for the rest of her life. However, her meddling aunts aren't too happy about this.
Tanner is a wolf shifter who wants to find his mate. Others in his pack have and he wants that happiness also. Sent on an errand to a neighboring pack, changes Tanner's life forever.
I really liked the sass that Hannah gave Tanner when they first meet and he thought that even though they don't know each others names, they would mate now. You go girl!!

Tanner has given up on ever finding his mate, he can hear others thoughts and that is such a turn off when you are trying to get laid, let alone find your mate.
Hannah is tired of her mom and aunt constantly trying to get her to go to the convergences to find a mate. She cannot get her head around someone sniffing your butt. Used to being the fat girl in town, she has built a wall around herself and she just won't let anyone in...
Butttttt Hannah's Aunt Isabelle and Grace from the Black Paws have some tricks up their sleeves on how to try and get Tanner and Hannah together, they just might be a match.....Maybe???

Loved that wolf.
I really liked the way this starts out. Very cryptic dream scene. Hannah is great. I loved her ' Just leave me alone, and we'll see if I find a mate, or not" attitude. Tanner has a gift that is also a curse. It would drive anyone insane. His wolf, is the one thing that keeps him functional. When they find each other, it's explosive. I loved that he smells like Cinnamon, to her. Usually the woman has the sweet scent. They have a lot of life or death encounters, in the very short time after they discover each other. Great ending, with the obvious lead ins to the next book.

Tanner Larsen is asked by his Alpha's mother of the Black Paw Pack to bring a package to Barbara Wolfe, of the Blue Creek Pack, for their Scenting Ceremony. Hannah Jones, of Blue Creek, has just about given up on finding a mate. Unbeknownst to Tanner and Hannah, the two women are trying match making. Tanner & Hannah find more than they bargained for.
Loved this story and the big wolf Tanner and the sassy wolf Hannah There's action, suspense and hot sexy romance. Highly recommend.

Entertaining read
Tanner isn't your everyday wolf, he's bigger than most and has special powers. He's lonely waiting for his mate, watchong his friends all getting mated. Hannah is also lonely, and has no wish to attend the scenting ceremony this year, but her Aunt has a trick up her sleeve, wait till these two meet. Entertaining read, story line flowed, great group of characters. Recommend to all, for a quick read.

the h was an idiot.
All I could think when she initially denied her mate then got marked by someone else who attacked them was that she was an idiot and I had to stop reading for a while. She ignored her wolf, she ignored instinct, and her mate’s need for some idiocy she made up in her head. She said she wanted a mate, then played hard to get. I hate that sort of indecisive idiocy that is inconsistent with the nature of the shifters depicted including herself up to this point.
All I could think when she initially denied her mate then got marked by someone else who attacked them was that she was an idiot and I had to stop reading for a while. She ignored her wolf, she ignored instinct, and her mate’s need for some idiocy she made up in her head. She said she wanted a mate, then played hard to get. I hate that sort of indecisive idiocy that is inconsistent with the nature of the shifters depicted including herself up to this point.

The FMC is independent and sassy, with a good heart and her own insecurities. This is a tale that intertwines Norse mythology and shifters. There is action and a little heat.

A Hot Piece of Sass: Sassy Ever After (Black Paw Wolves Bk. One)
Highly recommend this book. Good character build through out. Really liked Tanner and Hannah. Both strong strong leads. Action is great. Ms. James is a good paranormal writer. Makes you care for the people she writes about.

Quite the pair
Hannah and Tanner are from different packs, but that doesn’t keep their people from getting them together.
Like all families/clans etc, the two packs have similarities and differences. Hannah’s pack still does a scenting ceremony, which Tanner thinks is incredibly old fashioned. Neither of them want to be there, but they go and meet. However, stuff happens, there’s bad guys and fighting, but the good guys win out.
Good one.

Finding your mate is not always easy. Sniffing her out at a mate-meeting of another pack is even more unusual. Having to save her from rogue wolves before you ever get to actually mate with her makes for a interesting day. The bad guys don't stand a chance.

Interesting Concept
Kind of slow starting for me. Almost have up with the beginning with Odin time period. But I pressed on. Then current time period. It is not Insta love, but a mating which yes is kinda the same, but animal driven in my mind. This is the first book in this series, so yes there is a HEA, but Tanner's story will continue with the progression of the series.

A hot piece of sass
Truly enjoyable. I really really like short stories that have good characters, nice story line and some sexy scenes and even tho there were some u answered questions I don’t consider this a cliffhanger at all. Just need to read next book to see what next for them.

When I read the bit about some guy "losing it" and "claiming his mate" in front of the pack, with her in human form ( didn't mention whether he was in human or wolf form, but something in the writing made me think it was wolf), I just knew I wasn't going to like it. That and the fact the wolf is a separate "mind" or consciousness, which to me makes the characters seem schizophrenic.
