This textbook elucidated concepts about the world of music composition very wonderfully! I am new to the world of music scholarship, and this book lived up to its purpose - to introduce the new scholar to the more refined method of enjoying music. Highly recommend for new students of music, both within and without academia!

In chronological order, this textbook effortlessly teaches the evolution of music throughout mainly the western culture. Massively interesting with great detail to make you want to seek out further information. Was a great read for a semester, and one I am glad I spent the time to read.

Will increase your understanding and vocabulary of music.
