Tucker Locklear is just starting to move on after his wife's death. While he can't deny his attraction to the gorgeous, vivacious Josie, he won't risk the pain of losing someone again. “I just wanted to tell you how I felt. Then I wanted to take you inside and show you.” A slow grin emerged on her lips. “I’ve always loved show-and-tell,” she whispered.

My Review:

This is such an adorably sweet and easy to follow small-town series with relevant family issues, secrets, and heart-squeezing moments. I enjoyed the colorful descriptions and stories of the quirky and eccentric characters inhabiting Sweetwater, each with their own unique spin that makes them stand out several shades from the norm. I also greatly appreciated the long-overdue implementation of a Native American as a successful and hard-working professional as a main character. I adored the kindness and thoughtful patience and insights of Tuck and look forward to peeling back his sister’s tale in a future installment.

5 - "I'm so glad I didn't miss this..." Stars!

We return to Sweetwater Springs for the second book in the series; Springtime at Hope Cottage. Town physical therapist; Tucker Locklear and city girl; Josie Kellum find their happily ever after together in this installment, and they are quite the opposites at first introduction.

He was ready to put himself out there in the dating world again but he didn’t want to set himself up for another heartbreak…

Which is exactly what Tuck expects to happen when his feelings for Josie start to change, two years on from his wife’s death Tuck is looking to move on, but not with someone whose time in town comes with an expiry date, even if that date is extended by a nasty fall and then a fire in her New York block of apartments.

"The more I try to resist you… the more I want you."

Nice slow burn with this one, both of them are commitment shy for their own reasons. But the more they get to know each other, the more those reasons seem to become less important, Tuck still dealing with his wife’s passing takes up a bit of page space, but I think because the relationship between him and Josie started out slow too, the pacing of everything felt right. There are a few surprise twists in their tale as well, and we get to catch up with the residents of Sweetwater as things move along.

"Home… I’ve found home."

I love small town contemporary romance, Annie is delivering that in spades with this series, the tropes may be tried and true but the stories they are being matched with are an absolute delight to read.

Tuck’s sister; Halona and his BF Alex are up next with; Snowfall on Cedar Trail due later this year, all I can say is I can’t wait for more!

This was such a sweet and cute small town southern romance.

Not only did I love the romance of the story, I also loved the additional story that was being told regarding Tucker's past (and present).

The couple featured in this story had awesome chemistry which was steamy but also sweet. Their romance didn't feel dragged out and it also didn't feel like an 'instalove'. Everything came together at the perfect timing.

For some reason, I was so focused (and enchanted) by the romance that I was caught off guard and surprised with the revelation of the other storyline. I rarely am caught unaware or surprised when reading and I really enjoyed the feeling of being surprised! Especially because it was such a good and natural addition to the story.

This was a very cozy read in both setting and story. It's the perfect read to enjoy outside in the sunny Spring days ahead but would also be equally enjoyable year round.

4.5 Sweet Stars!

Springtime at Hope Cottage is a sweet romance that fills your heart with hope and leaves you smiling right until the very end.

Springtime at Hope Cottage follows the story of Josie and Tucker. Josie is all about business and doesn’t know how to disconnect from the world. She’s always on the go. So, when a trip to Sweetwater Springs ends up with her injuring her knee, Josie will finally be forced to take a moment and catch her breath. Being injured isn’t so bad if she gets to spend her time with Tucker, the town’s good looking physical therapist. Tucker intrigues Josie in many ways, but she’s not ready for love….or is she??? It’s been two years since Tucker’s wife passed and he’s finally starting to live again. He’s great at his job and his new home gives him what he needs; hope. So, while he can’t deny the pull he feels towards his new patient, Josie, he’s not quite ready to jump into the dating world. His heart is still battered, but Sweetwater Springs has a way of sneaking up on you and maybe just maybe it will be able to mend Tucker’s broken heart. There’s only one way to find out…

In a world of craziness, Springtime at Hope Cottage was just the story I was looking for. It was incredibly well written and captivating. The characters were real and easy to relate to. I loved seeing the friendships that Josie had and seeing that there was more to this girl than what meets the eye. I loved the slow build of the relationship between Tucker and Josie. While their chemistry was great, their hearts were guarded. I loved seeing the two of them get to know one another, build trust and explore the feelings they had for one another. Their romance was sweet and swoon-worthy.

Springtime at Hope Cottage is a terrific second chance romance. It’s light on the drama. Light on the angst. But, filled with lots of heart. The characters both have painful pasts and have to learn to move past them. In the end, this is the kind of romance that just makes you feel good and in the end, leaves you with a smile on your face. I enjoyed everything about this book from beginning to end and look forward to getting my hands on the next book in this sweet series.

"A man with a broken heart and a woman with a guarded one probably aren't the best match."

On vacation to go see her friend Kaitlyn where she was supposed to stay for a week, Josie Kellum will have to change her plans when a sudden injury and other bad lucks force her to stay in Sweetwater Springs.

Widower and physical therapist Tucker Locklear is just beginning to date again after losing his wife to cancer a few years ago. Work-obssessed women with fancy clothes are not his type. However, there's something about Josie that draw his attention and when she suddenly become his client, Tuck will have the chance to realize she's not quite the city princess he thought she was. But even if Josie's return to New York is not assured anymore and there might have other changes in her career, she still wonder if it's a good idea to start something with him because she's not quite sure he's over his wife. And Tuck will have to face some serious changes in his life too.

The hero is American Indian. Cherokee, to be more precise and I like that the author added details about that, the traditions, customs... I also liked Shadow, his brown Lab therapy dog. Sweetwater Springs is a great place to be, whether you live there or read about it😜.

Well, my first trip to Sweetwater Springs was a huge success, what an adorable book! This is book two and read great for me on it’s own, but you can count on me following this series from here on out because it was beyond sweet. This had it all, an idyllic small town, quirky residents, a sexy hero AND heroine and a few adorable kids were magic ingredients for me here, I adored this book!

Nothing tugs at my heartstrings more than a hunky widower and Tuck was seriously swoon worthy. He’s a small town guy and Josie is a big city girl visiting her friend for what’s supposed to be a quick vacation. I really loved how authentically their relationship played out, it felt so realistic. These were two grown adults who approached a potential relationship with maturity and caution and while their attraction to each other was apparent early on they didn’t rush things which was nice. Their story was tender and a little sad as they both had past issues they had to work through, but overall this one was full of hope and joy. Steam level was super low, this was much more romantic than sexy and I’m fine with that! The next book in the series is set during Christmas and I’ll be savoring it come December.

After reading Christmas On Mistletoe Lane, I couldn’t wait to read this story. Josie and Tucker are complete opposites who slightly bumped heads at first. As time passes they get to know each other and I liked seeing the layers peeled back. Tucker was an all around good guy who mainly liked to keep to himself but was there if you needed him. Josie was a workaholic and it was nice to see them balance each other out.

During the book we had some secrets revealed that I wasn’t expecting but I liked the way it was handle. This small town romance series is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Rains creates characters that you can’t help but fall in love with when you read. They are relatable, flawed and you just want to be friends with them. This story was an all around feel good read and I can’t wait for the next book! If my theory is correct it will be about Tucks sister who we meet in this book.

Widower romance...
There is nothing less romantic than when a widower talks about his dead wife to the heroine and then makes out with her. Eeeew...

Never date a guy who takes flowers to his dead wife's grave and chats with her once a week. Never date a guy who can't get rid of dead wife's stuff.

Oh my!

This second book in the Sweetwater Springs contemporary romance series is an absolute joy to read from beginning to HEA. I cried and laughed and just could not put it down. SPRINGTIME AT HOPE COTTAGE (Sweetwater Springs #2) by Annie Rains was a pleasure to read.

Josie Kellum is a writer on a major magazine in NYC. It was her dream job until the arrival of the new owner. She decides she needs a trip to visit her BFF, Kaitlyn in Sweetwater Springs for article ideas and time to consider her future at the magazine. As Josie is walking behind Kaitlyn’s B&B, she goes off the trail and ends up with a severely twisted knee. Kaitlyn knows the perfect physical therapist to help get her up and about as soon as possible. She is supposed to return to NYC soon.

Tucker “Tuck” Locklear grew up in Sweetwater Springs and returned after college to run his physical therapy practice using the outdoors and nature at Hope Cottage to heal instead of an exercise room in a facility. He has been a widower for two years now and is just starting to move on. His first impression of Josie is of a high maintenance city girl, but as the two get closer he finds she is so much more. Tuck knows Josie will be returning to NYC soon and it would be stupid to risk his heart on someone who will be leaving, but there is so much he likes about Josie.

Tuck and Josie get an extra month together when there is a fire in the apartment next to Josie’s in NYC. They each have reasons that should keep them apart, but the attraction is too strong. Can Josie slow down and quit running? Can Tuck take the chance at a second love?

This is story that will stay with me for a while. Josie’s reasons for hiding in her work and Tuck’s reasons for not getting involved were all handled realistically by this author. Ms. Rains writing had me completely engrossed in Sweetwater Springs and its inhabitants. So many little things can add up in our lives and change a person. These characters showed that sometimes you have to forgive yourself as much as others. All of the secondary characters are as realistic and entertaining as the H/h. This is a sweet romance and none of the sex scenes are explicit.

This is an emotional romance read with a very satisfying HEA. I can highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

Thanks very much to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Net Galley for allowing me to read this eARC.

Springtime at Hope Cottage
is the second book in Annie Rains Sweetwater Springs series. This can be read as a stand alone, which is true for all the books in the series. For example, I'm working my way backwards going from book 4 to 1 #dontjudgeme

"A man with a broken heart and a woman with a guarded one probably aren't the best match."

This is a sweet opposites attract small town romance between a physical therapist widower and a city journalist. Josie was up beat, kind and caring. She may not have made the first impression on Tuck but you could tell right away that she was a good person. Tuck I didn't connect with as much. I felt he was way too judgmental of Josie and he was inconsiderate at times in the beginning. Even by the end I didn't really love him but I did enjoy him and Josie together as a couple. The story itself is low angst with fade to black love scenes that fit book perfectly.

"Seems to me things get easier when you're around," he offered. "It's even easier to breathe somehow."

Springtime at Hope Cottage
was another enjoyable cozy small town romance in Annie Rains Sweetwater Springs series.

Josie Kellum has a great job as an editor of a major New York magazine. She is pulled away from her job due to an injury sustained while she is visiting her friend in Sweetwater Springs. The doctor recommends a couple of sessions of physical therapy in order for the injury not to become more serious. Then, due to other circumstances, her stay is extended. But, oh, her therapist... Oh, so sexy!

Tucker Locklear hasn't so much looked at another woman since the death of his wife. Why is it that his newest patient, albeit temporary. Josie Kellum affects him? This is on a deep level from the moment they met. He is really glad she was planning to leave soon. Also, his policy is not to date patients. However, when he finds out she is staying longer than planned, Tucker begins to worry. Will he be able to hide his attraction to the stunning Josie? Also, how can he think about another woman. He still hurts from losing his wife. What if he loved and lost again? He just cannot take the chance.

This was a wonderful and effective story. The romance between Tucker and Josie was very touching. It was true to form with Tucker resisting a chance at love due to what he went through with losing his wife. Also, Josie's life was in the big city, not in a small town. Even if the people - and a chance at love - were compelling.

There was another character in Springtime at Hope Cottage that bears mentioning. That is young Maddie, a physical therapy patient of Tucker's. I found this portion of the story quite engrossing. Annie Rains has done a fine job of weaving a romance with another story that blended in quite well. The conflicts in this story balanced with a very pleasant ending. I really enjoyed this book and Annie Rains works.

This is part of the Sweetwater Springs series. The first of this series is Christmas as Mistletoe Lane. My review follows. The next book in the series, Meet Me at Sweetwater Springs, is due for release in August.

Many thanks to Forever and NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

For me as a reader there is nothing better then being able to get into a series. I just love the layers that a series brings you. Each book you get to learn more about the prior characters along with the supporting characters. Not to mention the hero and heroine of the book.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good series.

As you can see I just finished the second book in the Sweetwater Springs series by Annie Rains and I've really been enjoying it. The first book in the series the characters had their issues but I think in this one the characters had even more.

Poor Tucker, he was so sad and shut off from everyone. He just could move on in life. He was stuck in his grief. You can't help by feel sorry for him. In your heart you know that all he needed was a special someone to bring him into the living.

What he does and how he does it for a living is wonderful. He helps people without them feeling like it's all work. Great guy.

Josie's past has formed her into a single minded workaholic that is running from the hurt. A busy mind doesn't have time to think. It also doesn't have time to really live either.

I loved how much she loved her job and how good she was at it but everyone needs a life. And since her new boss is a dick it's time to find that life.

Their romance is very rocky. It starts off very slow (the romance, not the book) and then almost becomes to easy for them. They work out pretty good and have very little if any conflict between them. Then Tuckers life changes and Josie tries to make a sacrifice for what she thinks is right. Silly Josie. running never fixes anything.

This is a wonderful written romance that will make you wish you could visit this town. I look forward to more books in the series and I'm hoping that she really adds to the characters of this little town.

This book has been on my shelf on NetGalley for some time and I was recently able to start it. I'm sorry that I didn't get to it sooner. There was so much to love about this story.

Josie Kellum is an editor for Loving Life in New York City. She's returned to Sweetwater Springs to write another piece. Josie's new boss is making her frustrated because his vision of how the magazine should go is not hers. She's staying at her friend, Kaitlyn's B&B, and is not used to small-town life, she misinterprets a tap to get her attention to go on the attack of a friend of Kaitlyn and her husband who would be picking her up.

Tuck Locklear is a physical therapist who enjoys providing therapy in a natural setting. He's a widower and is trying to start dating again. His Lab, Shadow, often helps with treatment.

Tuck & Josie do not get off on the right foot after she nearly sprayed him, then forgetting her cellphone in his vehicle where she persistently calls her phone with the annoying ring tone to get Tuck to return it.

Despite doing his best to avoid Josie, he inadvertently finds himself being her physical therapist. Both are attracted to one another, but Josie is only supposed to be in town for a week. Another reason for Tuck to keep his distance.

When fate has other plans, Mitch, Kaitlyn's husband calls in a big favor of Tuck which puts Josie in closer vicinity than Tucker would like. Her stay has been extended providing them an opportunity to get to know one another.

Just when Tuck thinks things are looking up, Josie makes a rash decision to go back to New York leaving everyone wounded.

I loved this story from the beginning and was laughing out loud through much of it. It's a wonderful second-chance story! This is my first book by Annie Rains but won't be my last.

“Springtime at Hope Cottage has been exactly what I didn’t know I needed.”

I need to give a huge thank you to my friends at Forever Publishing for sending this my way at the beginning of the year. I don’t know why I put this novel off for so long, but it was perfect and exactly what I needed! I’ve fallen in love with this series, and I can’t wait for the Fall when the next book comes out!

She’d found herself here at Hope Cottage, and she’d realized that she could have more.

The fact that I loved this novel both did and didn’t surprise me. I say this because even though I gave a full five stars to it’s predecessor, Christmas on Mistletoe Lane, Contemporary Romance isn’t my favorite of the romance genre. I tend to like my romance a bit steamier, with more angst and sexual tension that I feel like I get from New Adult or Dark Romance. That being said, there’s something so sweet and refreshing about small town romance stories, especially if you’re looking for an escape from your every day life. No, this wasn’t as dark or angsty as I usually like, but it was an escape for me; a cozy, swoon worthy romance that refreshed and renewed my appreciation for Contemporary Romance.

The thing that drew me to this novel in the first place was the fact that it was idyllic as hell. A small town physical therapist meets a big city journalist, give it to me. It’s a subtle enemies to lovers story in the way they were complete opposites in the beginning and didn’t like each other, but overall it had that trope that we all love and adore. Take this and set it against the sweetest little mountain town and you have a recipe for the perfect Summer escape.

Don’t let the sweet cover art fool you, this is much more than a love story. There are some revelations in this that had me internally screaming at my desk at work while reading, and it’s these little twists and turns that really push this novel to the edge for me. Both Tuck and Josie were these perfect and yet flawed main characters, coming to terms with what they both want and need, and it’s a battle that I think most can relate to.

This had me laughing, swooning, and crying all through out the book. I couldn’t put this one down; I was reading at every spare moment I could and even the moments I shouldn’t have been (I think my fellow nerds can relate to this lol). I honestly loved this book and I love this series. The author has such a way with tone and pacing that makes these novels a complete knockout.

I cannot wait for my next visit to Sweetwater Springs, I’ll be counting down the days!

Springtime At Hope Cottage was a sweet and adorable addition to the Sweetwater Springs series.

If you have read the first book, you will remember our leading lady Josie is Kaitlyn's friend who wrote the story about the B & B and Sweetwater Springs.

The last thing Josie wants it to leave NYC or to find love. However, now she is back in town, and Sweetwater Springs is doing it's thing.

I adore Josie, and what woman cannot love Tuck? The sparks flew between them, and the emotion jumped off the pages. I couldn't wait to turn each page to see where Josie and Tuck's adventures would take us next.

I laughed, I smiled, and my heart hurt at times as events were revealed. But mostly I just couldn't get enough of these lovelies and this town.

Now I am impatiently awaiting more.

I’ll be perfectly honest – I just don’t understand why Annie Rains isn’t on everyone’s book shelf. Her characters are always complex and layered, her stories have a core of sweetness and kindness that we all could use, and their connections are palpable – you want to visit the places she’s created, make friends with the people and sit in the café to people watch. Springtime at Hope Cottage is no exception. From first coming to Sweetwater Springs where we met Kaitlyn intent on making the little B&B in the North Carolina mountains a viable business, and with her finding love with the half-owner Mitch, a resident, the magic in this little town was tangible. Now as Josie has returned for a little break, it’s been lonely in New York without Kaitlyn and with changes at the top for the magazine she works for, work isn’t all that hot either. And for someone who exists for her job, burying away her own fears of not being enough and fears of being too close to someone who could break her heart, she’s more in need of the magic of the place than anyone else.

But, the B&B is busy and Kaitlyn is swamped with work and the uptick in business, particularly with the upcoming festival, and she can’t meet Josie at the airport, instead sending her husband’s friend Tucker to pick her up. From the start, Josie’s wound a bit tightly, and Tucker with his no-nonsense connections to the earth, nature and the town as well as his good looks and instant impression of Josie as a high maintenance princess leaves the conversation rather stilted and both with an unusual reaction to one another. He can’t forget about her, even as he is still mourning his wife and wanting to ‘honor’ her memory, and Josie finding him annoying and perhaps a bit too aware of her – like down to her innermost thoughts aware – and finds herself unsettled and anxious.

From here it is classic Raines – Tuck is native American, a Cherokee whose mother has been dedicated to teaching her children and her community about the traditions, foods and ways of time immemorial. Tuck uses nature and his own training to work his magic on those who need help regaining function. When Josie, unexpectedly finds herself in need of his skills after twisting her knee, the two find themselves working together, and doors start to open in their relationship. When her apartment building is damaged by fire and she’s got to find a new place to live – the relationship with Tuck seems to jump forward as she moves into his garage apartment. So different these two are, but Josie’s proximity shows Tuck the caring person beneath the city polish, and discovers that with his new client, she’s simply magical. Of course, there are secrets to uncover, but the heartstrings and connection between the two build, giving both a second chance at new possibilities, all with plenty of support and some big changes for everyone involved. Leaving me with a smile and plenty of interest in the third friend in Tuck’s group and his little sister and nephew, the sweetness o Sweetwater Springs, combined with the community, it’s people and a few nudges from the author make this series one that is a pure delight.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This was a really cute addition to the Sweetwater Springs series. We met Josie in the last book since she was Kaitlyn's best friend from NYC. And of course everyone knew that Tucker was a widower and didn't really get out much. So I wasn't sure exactly how these two would fit given Josie's big city girl vibes and Tucker's recluse status. But it somehow worked well for them.

Josie is a big-time magazine writer, but is visiting Kaitlyn in Sweetwater Springs. She ends up having to extend her stay after a fall results in her injuring her knee. Of course, the best PT in town is Tuck and he doesn't exactly like Josie very much - mostly because he finds her attractive, but knows she's going to leave and he's not exactly over losing his wife, even though it's been years. They eventually decide to hook up and have a 'relationship' with an end date. Thankfully, they work things out and get a really cute HEA.

There's also an intertwined story with one of Tuck's patients that came as a surprise, but I loved it and thought it added some extra depth to the story.

I loved that the author gave the Cherokee some prominence in the story. It wasn't much, but the Cherokee language included and even the food (3 sisters stew) were a nice addition.

I know I write this every review for this series, but after reading this one, I'm even more confused by the author's use of the last name Locklear for a Cherokee. Locklear is a VERY prominent Lumbee Indian name (Like the most common among 50K members. I know because that's my tribe and my maternal side's last name). But to add even more layers to the confusion, the author said that Tuck's dad is a balding white man and he's not Native American like Tuck's Cherokee mother. There aren't that many Locklear's out there that identify as Caucasian with that last name. Maybe the author was just confused and went with just any old common American Indian name and assigned it to someone from a tribe that the name originates from doesn't even like lol. It's just a disservice to the tribe that the name most commonly belongs to. Just pick a tribe and make sure you represent them correctly in your writing.

Regardless, I still love the series and love that the author includes Native American characters since we aren't often included in any series unless their western/cowboy romances.

SPRINGTIME AT HOPE COTTAGE BY ANNIE RAINS BOOK REVIEW
A sweet second chance romance takes place in the charming town of Sweetwater Springs. Y’all, can I move here?

LET’S ALL HEAD TO SWEETWATER SPRINGS
Full confession, I purchased Christmas on Mistletoe Lane by Annie Rains last holiday season. If you thought I could resist a Christmas cover with a blonde lab puppy, then YOU DON’T KNOW ME at all! I still haven’t read it because I had more books than time this holiday season. Christmas on Mistletoe Lane is the first in Annie’s Sweetwater Springs series. After loving Springtime at Hope Cottage so much, I’m thinking Christmas in July may make an appearance.

As a Physical Therapist (PT) I love the physical therapy aspect in this book. Tucker treats his patients in the wild out & works his PT in as part of their activities of daily living (ADLs). This is so cool to me because I know Annie Rains is an Occupational Therapist (OT). While OTs concentrate a lot on ADLs, PTs focus on walking & mobility. Tucker embodies the best of both PT & OT. You don’t get his approach in many places due to insurance constraints. His ability to treat patients in his own unique way makes like him even more.

SWEET, TENDER & HITS YOUR SOUL
This is a sweet romance. It’s not super steamy like my recent fave One & Only by Jenny Holiday but that is fine by me. I love every minute of this tender & charming story. While reading Springtime at Hope Cottage, I feel all snuggled up in this wonderful world. Everything will be okay, people get seconds chances, your neighbors support you & you may even get a free fudge sampler platter. Let me be clear, my friends, we all need that feeling in our life. Annie Rains delivers hope.

THE VERDICT
I am Really Into This book! I love the way Springtime at Hope Cottage makes me feel; joyful & fulfilled. May we all be so lucky to have our own Sweetwater Springs & get our own second chance.

Special thanks to Annie Rains & Read Forever for providing our copy in exchange for an honest & fair review.

With a title composed of both Spring and Hope, you should very much expect that this romance, Springtime at Hope Cottage by Annie Rains, will be an uplifting story about people getting second chances and finding spiritual renewal–and it is.

Springtime at Hope Cottage begins with an airport meet-cute in which Josie pulls out a can of pepper spray on her “attacker,” Tuck who was sent by her best friend to pick her up. Immediately Tuck decides that this big city girl is a snob and spoiled because of her expensive purse and more expensive shoes. Josie, on the other hand, thinks Tuck may be one of the yummiest things she’s ever seen. The more time they spend in each other’s company, the more attracted they become to each other (well, it is a romance) and Tuck’s first impression melts away.

I enjoyed Springtime at Hope Cottage. It’s the perfect novel for a little down-time. Both characters are realistically drawn, behave the way reasonable grown-ups should behave, and are extremely likable. The townspeople add that small town touch that so many of us readers enjoy. There’s also a little mystical element that I found charming. There are a few surprises that add depth and will go unmentioned because: spoiler.

“You want a man who will carry you when you fall down while chasing after some crazy bird.”

She giggled unexpectedly.

“Someone who will pull you off life’s treadmill and show you the beauty of this world and make you see the beauty in yourself, inside and out. Someone who thinks you’re funny, smart, and the most loving, giving person he’s ever met.”

And with this Tuck enters the category of being perfectly swoon-worthy.

While this was the second novel in the Sweetwater Springs series, I didn’t feel that I missed anything (although I probably did) by not reading the first. It works very well as a standalone.

If you’re looking for a sweet romance with small town charm, a surly pre-teen, a beautiful therapy dog, nature, spaghetti dinners, and fairs, you might want to give Springtime at Hope Cottage a try.

Josie is a writer at a magazine in New York City and has made work the main focus of her life. When she goes to visit her best friend in the small town of Sweetwater Springs, North Carolina it turns into much more than she expected.

Josie is hiking alone on her first day there when she wanders slightly off the trail and ends up falling and injuring her knee. Guess that means she will have to spend more time with the physical therapist Tuck - though they didn’t exactly hit it off from the start.

I love an opposites attract, small town romance. I don’t think I would enjoy actually living in a small town but I sure love escaping to one now and then in a cozy book or some episodes of Gilmore Girls.

At one point in the story Josie thinks “So this is what small-town living felt like. It was warm and cozy, like a pair of wool-lined slippers on a chilly night.” I would say that’s a good description for this reading experience as well.

Thank you so much to the publisher Forever for providing the advance reading copy in exchange for my review.

I adored the first book in this series so I couldn't wait to start this one once I got my hands on it! Thankfully it was as good as the first!

I really like Josie and Tuck's characters, though their rolls were minor, in the first book, so I was excited to see this book was about them falling in love.

Josie is the big city girl who falls for the small town boy. But the small town boy is also a widower with a dislike for technology and too much structure. Josie has always been a career woman with no room for love or a family. But thankfully fate intervenes!

This book is squeaky clean. No language, and all the sex scenes are 100% closed door. Even though I usually prefer open door, the closed door works for this style of writing and type of romance.

I did not read the novella by Hope Ramsey that comes with this book, fyi.

I looking forward to the next book in the series!

Springtime at Hope Cottage is the second book in the Sweetwater Springs series by Annie Rains. I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first book in the series. It was nice that Rains was able to build off of characters she introduced in Christmas on Mistletoe Lane. In Springtime at Hope Cottage, Josie Kellum, a career oriented workaholic visits the charming small town where her best friend, Kaitlyn Russo, AKA the leading lady from the first book, has moved to. Soon into her visit, an injury causes Josie to have to spend more time with the attractive widower Tucker Locklear. With the two forced to grapple with Josie's life back in New York City and Tucker's past marriage this is a sweet story about second chances and finding what really matters in life: love.

I love a good small town romance and this book certainly satisfied my craving. It has an amazing group of characters with a nice slow burn romance between Tucker and Josie. Tucker is the town's physical therapist who has spent the last few years mourning the loss of his wife. No woman has peaked his interest until NY magazine editor/writer Josie Kellum comes to town. Why her?? They are so different and she will only be around a short time. She has heartbreaker written all over her. He just needs to lay low until she leaves town. Easier said than done!

I highly recommend this one.

My second trip to Sweetwater Springs was just as wonderful as the first! Annie has really proven herself as an amazing romance writer capable of crafting characters you love and can't wait to learn more about.
My favorite thing about this second book is how it further built on the relationships that were created and expanded the characters that you just started learning about in the first book.
I love Annie's writing and recommend her books to all my book loving friends. I can't wait for the third Sweetwater Springs installment coming this fall!!

I figured this was going to be a cute and entertaining romance novel, but this one was just so boring. The major conflicts are not really conflicts and I did not care about any of the characters. The cover is the best part of this book, I mean it is so pretty and I want to move to that place. I will say I had an okay time reading this, I just don't think this author or the tropes in this story are for me.

I loved this book just as much as the first in the series. Josie and Tuck are a true opposites attract when I comes to their lifestyles at the beginning of the book but as they grow closer and let their guards down you see how perfect they are together. Can’t wait until the next book comes out later this year!

Thanks to Forever Romance for sharing a free copy of this book with me in exchange for an honest review.

It is charming when you have two characters who are trying to keep their distance from each other, but circumstances keep them close to each other over and over again. It's so much sweeter when they finally give in when they have been fighting the fall with everything they've got.

Josie and Tucker were wonderful together. Their romance warmed my heart and certainly made me smile.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book via Forever Pub and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
