The moment you think maybe.... Just maybe the characters are going to find a little bit of happiness in their miserable life, something terrible happens which takes away every bit of joy from them. This series is truly depressing and heart-rending but I love this series anyway....

With each novel we go deeper and deeper to the roots of the all evil or purity. The story is still revolving around the mystery of the beasts that roam the world, which apparently have been created by the ementywers but is it really them. What is there on the ashen world left behind. How long this world on the sky last till they finally have to venture for new space or return to the ashen world. The intriguing multi-faced story is unveiling with each new phase.
Still thinking will the story of love bloom between the two main protagonist or they will rot away with the surge new revelations.
Going to start the new volume soon.

A LOT of backstory on the origin of the monsters. Think unending flashback...

Of all of the books in the series, this is the weakest. Note, I hate extended flashbacks. I also find alternate reality generating magic that has no real effect on the story quite boring. Based on my attitude towards those story telling techniques, this book was never going to be a fun one for me.

So tough to judge a story like this. It's too short, I wish there were more, but this is what we've been given. Still, I love these characters

I'm officially caught up with the Anime and was absolutely delighted with the fact that there's more to the story!

Welp another interesting but depressing volume, yay! These kids definitely never catch a break, and it even ends in a cliffhanger!

Starts a bit slow. The first 2/3 consist of the setup and regular slice of life. It's a shame, because there is so much I want to know about this world and so many questions unanswered... the last third of the book is quite good. Won't go into any of it as the 5 books of the series are one big story and it would be extremely spoilerish...
