Now a complete series!

My kingdom is under attack.
Four guardians cursed into dragons.
And a magic I can't use.

I’m the first in my family to have magic for over four hundred years, but I’ve never been able to use it.

If I had, then when the palace was attacked by a sinister darkness, I could have defended it.

Instead, I was rescued by creatures I didn’t know existed outside of tales—dragons.

Now I’m at a tower, filled with magical creatures, guarded by four of these beasts. But on the first full moon, I learn the secret of these dragons: they’re men cursed into dragon form.

The Huntsman, the magi, the assassin, and the warrior. The men are as dangerous as they are attractive. My heart and body don’t stand a chance against their advances.

And they need my help—my magic can break their curse.

To save not only my kingdom but also the four men who are capturing my heart, I have to discover the truth of a curse cast twenty-one years ago.

This steamy reverse harem paranormal romance is the first book in Magical Kingdom series. It features a strong-willed heroine, four smokin’ hot men, and a mystery to solve with a new twist on fairy tales and mythologies.

This is about Princess Maeve who on the night prior to her celebration ends up being whisked away to safety by four Dragons, before she can be touched by darkness.

Without the immediate guidance of her mentor Tabitha, Maeve must now continue her magical training in faraway land and work on breaking the curses laid upon her and her Guardians - Trystan, Septimus, Gwayne and Caliban.

Stone and Fire is a wonderful first book to the Magical Kingdom series, and one I highly recommend.

I absolutely love stories with fae, magic, fairy tale retellings, mythical creatures, reverse harem and more, which is what Marie Robinson has perfectly captured.

i don't know what to say about this.

i mean, it wasn't bad. it entertained me for a while and i quite liked the storyline, though i didn't really think of it as RH so much. i mean, i'm guessing that each book in the series swaps between Maeve and a different guy's POV, and this book had Trystan's POV, but for that reason it didn't feel much like RH. she only had sex with one guy throughout the entire book. still, for a free kindle book, it was pretty good. the characters were entertaining enough and i quite liked a few of them, and the plot was reasonably original.
thanks to the author and amazon kindle for the free book!

It was okay, but that’s about all I can really say about it. Not particularly interested in checking out the next at this point, but not actively opposed either.

I liked the characters and the setting was intriguing. Plot was good but the character interaction bugged me as cliché at times. Plot twist was nicely done but the cliffhanger for the next book was unbearably predictable for me to continue reading this series.

I must admit, this was a pleasant surprise! (though tbh, I don't know why since I did read the sample chapter and then bought it :D but you know what I mean!)

World building was good, though at this moment I would say it was the weakest part of the book. We know a tiny bit about Caledonia, we know that the Fae were made to leave centuries ago to neighboring lands, but that's pretty much it, we don't really get a lay of the land.

I liked how Maeve was portrayed. Yes, she is a princess, but she didn't mind getting her hands dirty and actually help out. She had hissy fits, she cried, she laughed and she learned. Though I feel we have only scratched the surface on who she is and I look forward to seeing a tad more depth to her character.
As for the men, what's not to like :D They are diverse enough but still in a tightly knitted group, that even the arrival of someone they all wanted, couldn't break them apart.

Pacing and flow were good, there wasn't a moment in the book (I read it in one go) where I felt bored or overwhelmed. A good balance between action and conversation.

The book itself was well written with only minor errors here and there (nothing that pulled me out of the story). And yes, there is sex described in this book (if that is important to you).

All in all, I liked it very much. The second book is now on my (ever growing) TBR pile so look forward to that.
If you enjoy a slow reverse harem romance, dragons, and magic... this is the book for you!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! when you have books about dragons, magic and kingdoms. So if you like those types of books with a reverse harem added then read this book.

Princess Maeve is born to a kingdom who has outlawed magic. However, she is studying about magic and is told to make sure that if she uses magic no one sees her do it. As she studies she knows that her magic is not strong enough to do anything big. She is preparing for the ball in her name but something goes down. This next thing Maeve knows, she is on top of a Dragon heading to somewhere safe. She ends up at a tower some place faraway. There She meets some magical creatures such as brownies and more dragosn. She is trying to figure out what is going on and then the creatures talk to her. Here she meets Trystan, Septimus, Gwayne and Caliban who are her guardians and dragons. Until one night she finds four men standing in front of her who are gorgeous until she realizes they are the dragons. She is drawn to them and she can't explain why. These four men tell her they are cursed and only become human during a full moon. They never expected her to stay long but their secret is revealed. They try and help her with her magic and to figure out what is going on. They also feel a pull to her and they think she may be the key to breaking their curse. Each one of These guys are falling in love with Maeve. In the meantime, there is a twist and she finds out established in her naming day. Then she sets off to.defeat an Evil Magi once she figures out what she is.

Can Maeve best this evil? What will it mean for the guys? So much happens, but it would not be fair to you if I told you. You have to read this book. It has action, slow burn scenes, betrayal and magic.

After reading House of Secrets series I wanted to read more of Marie Robinson’s books. Being that Stone and Fire series is her first RH series it’s not bad. The instalove comes so fast that it stands out as a little irrational especially on the part of the MC, but I can forgive that. On the other hand I like that the MC goes for what she wants. She initiates much of the physical contact with the dragons. She’s a young princess but not demur. Speaking of the physical stuff there’s not a lot of smut here in this first book, but hopefully that will be remedied in book 2.

Are you a fan of fairy tales? Heroes? And Princesses who find their own inner strength? Also sexy times and lots of tension? Then this is the book you have been looking for.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and I devoured it in about 6 hours.

The main character (Maeve) is a princess of a kingdom which doesn't allow magic. The reasons for this are explained early on. The princess has magic but she can't use it. Bad things happen and she is taken to safety by 4 dragons. Then the fun begins.

An awesome princess and 4 sexy dragons (did not expect to say that ever but there you go) make up the main 5 and I loved learning about all the dragons. It did feel a little like there was a focus on only two of them, but as this is the first in a series, I hope that there is some serious down and dirty time with the others in future books.

The world these characters inhabit is well thought out and the magic and creatures were, well, cool. I can't say much more without spoilers so I will conclude by saying that I LOVED THIS BOOK and I can't wait until October. New Favourite author methinks.

The author balances sexy times with a fully fleshed-out (LOL), action packed adventure story. There’s some great sexual tension as well as suspense regarding curses and magical missions. There’s some really cool, scary ghost beasts. And the book seems to *magically* resolve in many ways and present new issues requiring a sequel at the same time.

Good start

Good start to the series. Lots of info. Maeve is an interesting character. So innocent in some things. But can hold her own when it comes down to it.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

What an incredible start to this new series! It is full of rich details, amazing characters, and a story that will keep you hooked as it navigates the surprises in store. I was hooked from the very first page as it all played out and each new part left me fascinated wondering what the author was going to come up with next. I can't wait for the next installment. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

I liked one of Marie Robinson's newer series, so I decided to go back and give this one a try. Maybe I just didn't follow correctly, but I ended the book majorly confused about a plot point that no one else seems to have a problem with:

Aside from that, it felt the plot dragged in spots, and I do not really like RH series that add a man per book. I'd like to see the focus on the developing relationships be more balanced in each book, even if not with equal pacing. She's suddenly in love with the other men, but we don't get very many interactions with the others (aside from lessons with Septimus) to see those other relationships develop. All in all, I probably won't continue the series.

I enjoyed this first book in a reverse harem (RH) fantasy series - it had magic, dragon shifters and brownies (I can't remember the last time I read a book with brownies so this was a nice surprise for this long-time fantasy reader). A majority of the book took place in a huge tower that the dragon heroes and brownies have lived in for centuries and this was a fun setting to imagine throughout the different scenes. Each of the four heroes are distinctive and attractive; so far I am partial to Septimus and Caliban. I like the dynamic that the complications of their curse brings to the table and that they can speak in their dragon form. I would have liked for there to have been more interactions between Maeve (the heroine) and each dragon hero before internal thoughts and professions of emotional attachment, but it still worked better than some RH's I have read. The interactions they did have I really enjoyed, especially the different ways she spent time with them in their dragon form.
The book is told from both Maeve and Trystan's (one of the heroes) POV and I liked that as sometimes when every character gets chapters I get confused about who is speaking, etc. I'm not sure if the author is intending to have one hero POV each in subsequent books or not, but I like that idea if she does. The book could use one more editing/proofread pass but again, it's substantially better than some I have read in the last year. The book tells a complete story arc and sets up the next book at the end, but is not a cliffhanger. I had initially felt like rating this a 3.5 or 3.75 but upon reflection it is better than other RH books I have given those ratings to so I am going to go with a 4.
I read this as part of the Amazon KU program.

A Magical Princess Comes into Her Power

Princess Maeve of a mythical version of Caledonia is born with nascent magical powers thanks to her mother, but she cannot use them despite years of teaching in the arcane mysteries. Caledonia used to have Faeries but cast them out hundreds of years ago, giving Caledonia a dangerous relationship with magic. Children, generation after generation, no longer believe in magic; magic has slipped into the real of myth and fairytale in the minds of humans. But it is real ... and threatening. On the eve of Maeve's birthday, a magical attack occurs, and she is whisked away to be protected by 4 guardian dragons. For the first time, she realizes how real magic is, even if she still can't summon her powers fully. The guardians are not what they seem . . .

The book is written in the first person from three viewpoints but mostly from Maeve's. I found the backstory and mythical Caledonia fascinating. The author does a very good job worldbuilding. It doesn't seem forced or an "info dump," and it draws you well into the world. For a book that listed both an editing service and a proofreading service, I was surprised to find a string of punctuation at the start of the book (not using the required comma before the "and" in a compound sentence). This persisted but surprisingly didn't bother me as I was enjoying the story so much.

I'm looking forward to other books in the series!

There were inconsistencies and character choices/thoughts that made me roll my eyes. I’m all for cliche (sometimes cringey) stories if they’re well written and I’m in the right mood but the writing honestly didn’t flow well and was paced weirdly.

My main issue was the development of relationships (or lack thereof) between the fmc and the 4 love interests. Basically all of their interactions happen off page so the reader doesn’t see them getting to know each other at all (I mean her introduction to HALF of the mmc isn’t written and is only mentioned in one sentence not even from her pov!). Spending time together and her learning magic are all referred to in past tense with little to no detail.

I stuck it out to see if it would get better but almost stopped reading multiple times. The nail in the coffin was everyone outright declaring their love for each other randomly at dinner and talking about where to go with their relationship from there (AGAIN with no on page romance really happening up to this point except a kiss that felt like it came out of nowhere). It felt like a cheap way to let the reader know they would be together and having sex from this point on with no work put in on the writer’s or character’s part to justify this.

It all felt like insta love despite taking place over 2 months because MAYBE 5% of the characters interactions were written with another MAYBE 10% briefly mentioned.

ONE ENTHRALLING EXPERIENCE!!!
Unbelievable! Marie hits this first installment to what feels like a total block buster in all its wonder. If you're looking for an action packed, pulse pounding, heart racing, mind blowing, adrenaline rush. Congratulations my friends you've found it. Marie brought out the big guns with this tough as nails on point treat that blast this bad boy to life flawlessly. Pushing on-ward through the trials and tribulations as trumoil and distress run rampant while speculation soars. Throw in stressing intrigue, chilling danger and electrifying suspense and you have one page flipping bombshell that blows this bad boy wide open. A bounty of hapless surprises and a bevy of daunting events take you on one wild ride. Twists and turns, ups and downs, a few sharp corners and sleek lines keep you riveted on a razors edge blazing this baby together piece by piece. The characters personalities and qualities are well balanced and blended with enough flaws to make it interesting. 100% on point realism and amazing scenarios that are so colorfully described its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines. Fabulous job Marie, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Dragon shifters? Yes please!

I have eagerly waited for this book and when I was able to finally read it, I did so in about 5 hours. This is with life interruptions. I was hooked into this book from the start.

Dragon shifters are officially my new favorite thing and the way Marie has written this truly amazing story is beyond fantastic. Maeve and her men are beautifully written and delivered to you, along with a magical world filled with fun and laughter as well as some heartache and tragedy. All of which is perfectly balanced.

Marie left me craving more, which is an amazing thing! Each character has little quirks that you fall for and even the ones I didn't think I would care for (yes, I had favorites before I dove into the work) managed to wiggle into the category they were excluded from. Characters that I would consider minor, being that they aren't front runners, are given the same beautiful writing as the main characters.

I can't wait to see what is in store for Maeve and her men in the next book. I am completely enthralled by this world and I am waiting with baited breathe to return!

A princess, four dragon-shifters, a curse (or maybe two?) and lots of magic...

Maeve is the princess of a kingdom where magic has been banned, and yet she posseses magic, which she can't control. When danger arises, she's whisked away to a tower where four dragons and other magical creatures reside. But Maeve is cursed and that's why she can't use her magic, while the dragons are in truth four men also cursed to take their human form for a few days a month. A bond establishes between Maeve and her dragons/men, while they work together to find the cause of her curse. Will they be able to break her curse and find a way to break the men's curse as well?

A wonderful RH, first in the series, with wonderful characters, great plot and full of action. The storyline completes at the end of the book, but it leaves open a few issues to be addressed in the next one. A great read!

This was an amazing read by a new author to me. I will definitely be reading more books by her and I can’t wait for the second book of this series to come out.
“Stone and Fire” is a fantasy RH with dragons. Maeve is a princess who has magic, but it’s blocked, so she can’t access it. She’s sent to a tower to be protected by four dragons, but they’re not just dragons. During the full moons, they turn into men and she finds out they were cursed to be dragons. Now, Maeve has the problem of falling in love with all four of them!
There are lots of plot twists and turns to the story and while the book ends on a happy note, it’s not a complete HEA. I can’t wait to see if the second book gives Maeve and her men their full HEA.

Stone and fire

I was pretty skeptical about this book at first. It seemed a little “old world” to me and I’m usually not a fan of those. However, after the third chapter I couldn’t put it down. Maeve is a naive princess who has magic but it is locked away, as she has been most of her life to hide her true nature. When her home is attacked she must flee and is aided by 4 dragons. She is forced to live in a tower, that is meant to be a safe house, with them. She quickly becomes friends with them and learns much of their pasts and a secret that they hide. When things start to get worse in her kingdom they formulate a plan to save it. I was enraptured by this book and can’t wait to read the next.

What a great strong story. From the moment I started reading, I was drawn into the story. The emotions clearly felt. The uncertainty when she is taken out of the castle, the fear of everything new, the magic that was always forbidden and is now being embraced. Her budding feelings for the dragons, the build-up to the romance between her and Trystan. But also her realization that she has feelings for all dragons. The betrayal of her father, the dangerous mission they face and discovering the secret to breaking a curse. The book contains everything to give you a few wonderful hours in a magical world and to warm your heart because of the love that is so palpable. I look forward to reading the 2nd part

I really enjoyed this first book I've read by Marie Robinson. I liked how Maeve's character went from unsure to confident as she became more used to the men and her magic. The men were all delightful from what we saw of them and the manner in which they were cursed was interesting especially with Caliban and how he feels about it.

The only problem I had was that I expected the relationship between Maeve and the men to develop at the same rate as they saw they all love each other. However, in this first one, we focus mainly on Maeve's relationship with Trystan, see Septimus a little in some lessons and hardly see Gwayne and Caliban at all. Maybe a different one will be added each book?

Despite this, I'll be continuing on with the series.

Flipped the Script

I've never read a reverse harem type book, but I have got to say this was pretty great. The H starts out timid but once she gets away from her own society's mandates becomes fierce as hell. There is depth to each of the supporting characters, a bit of humor done realistically enough. The magic was unique, the few R rated bits were hot but it didn't focus completely on the mind shattering orgasms to make up most of the story. Used more like decently added filler, but adding to the H discovering her own sexuality and also love for these men. Very well done! I definitely recommend this.

“Stone and Fire” had me hooked from the first page. This paranormal storyline is well-written, the world-building is intriguing and the flow is perfectly and in keeping with the tale. Maeve is a wonderfully strong character that made you glad that you got to know her and the guys…..need I say hot, hot, hot!!! The smooth pace and flow of the story keeps you entertained and emotionally invested until the last page. I can’t wait to see what adventure is in store for us in the next book!

Ever wanted to be a princess, have dragons and an amazing man (or four)? Well now's your chance! This is the story of Maeve, a princess, saved by four dragon guardians.

There's magic, mystery, passion, action, humor and so more. The story is addictive and pulls the reader into this magical world.

Though this is part one of a four part series, it is it's own complete adventure. I loved the way the author unveiled the story, the descriptions of the characters, the dialogue and the tension. I can't wait to read book two! I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
