As a Reflector, Lyssandra knows there are more supernaturals than her and her small circle of family and friends. As a lab tech at BioTech ChemLabs, the largest bio-engineering company in the area, she has met and worked with every kind of supernatural. Or so she thought.
When Lyssi comes home from work to find her best friend and roommate kidnapped, she learns what she thought is not what it seems. Her best friend Mila kept secrets, endangering them all. BTCL is not the company she thought it to be.
‘Work, eat, sleep, repeat’ will no longer be her life mantra as she and her friends fight to uncover the truth. With an angry vampire, hired shifters, and other supernaturals trying to stop them, searching for the truth could kill them all.
Ariz loves to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys cuddling up with her husband and reading books across many genres. Her favorite to read and write are Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance.
For a new author this book is GOOD!!! New species, new talents, a mystery and excellent character development. Not to mention some steamy scenes with some romance thrown in! Looking forward to seeing how the story develops in the next book!
This book starts with one of the most original prologues I have ever read. The author has created such an incredible context based on combination of various folklore and historical events. And then there is gripping fast paced action that does not stop. Need I say more? This was an amazing book and I am glad I got a chance to read it the moment it came out. I had a really good feeling about this author and her debut novel, and I was absolutely right, her writing is great, her characters are great, her plot is simply amazing, and the level of sarcasm in this book is just impressive. Lyssandra, Lyssi is the main character, and she is not a standard kick ass heroine, but more of a work in progress or heroine in training. She is incredibly lovable, entertaining, funny, and sometimes awkward, and I absolutely adore her. Then there are her friends Tia, Cason, Alex, Miguel, Mila and Bobby, a wonderful crowd whose friendly banter I could read about for days on end. The author did such a great job of describing all the important details, smells, feelings, characters, and locations, that at times I felt like I was there with the group, biting my nails not knowing what comes next. The plot was complex and original, as were the characters, especially Lyssi and her weird abilities, with Bobby as a close second. And then there are Mila, Mira, and Milena. This was definitely one of the best books of the year and I recommend it from the bottom of my heart. I can't wait for the next one. Grounded (The Coverton Chronicles Book 2) has been announced. Thank you Ariz Brune <3
Reflected was amazing, action packed book, with a mystery to solve. If you love supernatural books, this is the one to get. From shape shifters to elementals, each character is unique and gives life to the story. I cannot wait to see what the next book brings for Lyssi, and her friends. Great read!!!
I really enjoyed this book. I LOVE the cover and the artwork at the chapter breaks. There were plenty of twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what will happen next. I loved the banter between the characters and found myself chuckling at the insults thrown around. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2.
I just just finished reading reflected. It is such an excellent freshman book. The characters were engaging and kept the reader interested. I was very happy to be an arc reader for Ariz and would be happy to review more of her work.
This is a new twist on fantasy. Great new author, whom I am blessed with being an ARC reader for. Story kept me entertained and interested throughout. Characters that are easy to relate to and the type of people we would all like to know. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens.
Reflected draws you in from the beginning, and keeps you there. Paced just right, you become invested in the characters quickly, and are drawn to keep reading to see what will happen with them. I found it difficult to put down, and can't wait for Book 2!
Great book with a really cool storyline. It took a bit to get into it but once I did it was great. It is a new cool twist on paranormal and keeps you entertained throughout.
I absolutely adore this book. The characters are so much fun. Their snarky banter back and forth is so much fun that you wish you were part of their group. The comments that Lyssi makes for our benefit are just plain amazing, I found myself laughing out loud. The story itself is great from beginning to end. I will be reading the next one
This was an excellent read! Terrific plot line coupled with amazing characters and before I knew it I had reached the end. I didn't want it to stop. I seriously can't wait to read the next in this series. I highly recommend this book.
This story has the perfect balance of action, mystery, tragedy, and romance, all pulled together by a brilliantly constructed fantasy world, realism, and a main character that you can't help but relate to. I absolutely love this book! Onward to book 2!
This book is amazing! Instead of all the wellknown, cliche mythical creatures, the author comes up with her own mythical creatures that you start to relate to from page 1. Refreshing and daring.
I thoroughly enjoyed "Reflected", Ariz brought new elements of supernatural creatures both and old and new. Shapeshifters? yes. vampires? yes. Reflectors? yes.
The prologue's in books usually sometimes bore me, but this one did not.
The famjam (yep I am indeed using famjam you read right) are a really tight knit group of close friends and family, they're all so fun and really love one another and it shows, I adored getting to know them as I read.
I liked the hand on hand fighting and action and I did find myself rooting for the wolf shifters at some point. I also liked how the romance and relationship wasn't instantaneous.
I found myself relating to Lyssi often. She is a badass, that I can't say I relate to.
Would I recommend "Reflected"? yes, yes I do.
ps- Ariz, I still don't forgive you for what happened to you know who, how dareth you.
This was an amazing debut novel. I really enjoyed the mystery and intrigue of it. I don't read a lot of supernatural novels so it was really intriguing for me to see a character with a new magical power that I have not run into before. The storyline really grabbed my attention and held it from start to finish. I loved the characters in this novel and loved the passion and romance that was mixed in with the supernatural elements. I can't wait to see what Ariz writes next.
The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover and the authors work inside kept me reading page by page loving every twist and turn, while on the edge of my seat. For a new author this is an excellent start and this author has a new follower. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
DNF'd at 25%. Their friend has been kidnapped so they go party at a club? To what purpose? It seemed like it was only so the MC could get a boyfriend. POV changes in the middle of a paragraph? Numerous typos? No thanks. Not interested. Not sure who these people are that gave it 5 stars, but they're more patient than I am.
As a new author, Ariz has written a story of intrigue, action, and humour. Intriguing from beginning to end. The first of her series, this novel promises more adventure and action in the second instalment.
4 stars for Reflected : The Coverton Chronicles by Ariz Brune
I know this is the authors first book and you could not tell at all . The storyline and characters were developed, and truly great work. The prologue pulls you in right from the beginning . It is different from any I have read before , it seems more in depth than most and has a lot of history that is useful later in the story. I feel like the author really did her research and used folklore and history to excel the story to the next level . The characters were great and created a banter that doesn’t grow old. You have Lyssi, Tia , Carson, Alex , Miquel, Mila and Bobby who really are a family without the blood. Also what makes this story so great is that we see the potential in Lyssi to be great and a real badass but we are coming in when she is developing into this. She is what you would call a work in progress I think. This story draws you in the all the action and keeps you interested. I would say this author has a different take on paranormal than any other I have read . It has different characters than we would normally see , but some of the ones would all in the paranormal genre love. I look forward to reading book two ! Truly great work.
I'll start off saying this author has promise. However, there were a lot of typos (about 20), run on sentences, and numerous awkwardly written sections. I feel a friend of the author proof read and didn't offer much criticism to help the story. Too much info was shared and in the first half of the book not many contractions were used which made them sound like robots. Why is the main character so important? Why was Mila abducted? And why are the experiments happening? Was this written for the relationship or the mystery? Without any hints to keep me going, other than her preoccupation with Bobby, I'm not interested in reading the second book when this one already felt too long.
This is a story of pure evil. The 3 fates have separated and one is evil , one is good and ond teeters between good and evil. There is tragedy that makes you cry ugly tears. There is mystery, you want to figure out . Of course, there is panty melting sexy times with hot supernaturals. It ends with a cliffhanger. I cant wait to read book 2.
