Rate this book
In love with a woman he had only seen once and could not find, the Highlander, Kevin MacGreagor was growing older and needed a wife to give him sons. No other woman pleased him, not even the daughters of other lairds, so he finally settled for Anna sight unseen. But when his men went to meet her guard, she was all alone and badly beaten. Who could have done such a thing and why? ~

Romantic History

Parts of my family lived in Scotland for a little more than a century. The stories in this series are well told and reflect the old tales of the early Middle Ages with just enough romance and adventure to add interest for all ages. Spend a few hours with the mythical clan and escape modern reality for a while.

Couldn't finish it...

Got up to Charlot or chapter 18, felt like I was reading novellas, which I don't like. The storyline just got interesting and was moving along then it ended, and then its 15 years later . No this free read is not for me, I prefer 300+ pages thank you.

There are times when I felt like the whole thing was just dragging on, but I had to remember that this is multiple stories in one spanning over generations.

Not great literature but definitely a good read.

This review is generic across all Talbott's Viking and Highlander books (so if you look for my review of another in this series you'll just see this).

Talbott has done a superb job of recreating the environment and culture of medieval Scotland and Northern England in these two series. No explicit sex and no gratuitous violence (though there is violence appropriate to the time and place of the novels). Perfect romantic historic fiction with enough swashbuckling tension to appeal to almost anyone. While I am well past adolescence (nearly to senescence), I believe YA readers looking for an entertaining read would like these novels as much as I did.

Highly recommended.

A compilation of three Medieval Scottish romance novellas with a lovely cover depicts life in this era for three young women (teens) of marriageable age. Similar plots of independent spirits with some violence involving desperate situations and flight to avoid unacceptable marriage situations. Novellas presented in a straight forward story form involving more facts than eliciting reader's emotions. Although it involved scenarios of the time, conversations were in basic English rather than Scottish dialect/terminology which distracted from an overall realistic Scottish theme. Otherwise, an overall entertaining read for those who enjoy this genre.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading these Highlander stories. I love Marti Talbott's writing style as it flows steadily, sometimes swiftly and sometime slowly, like a river to the sea. Creative scenes and plots building on each other to enhance the reader's vision of Highland life. The range of characters depicted give a wholesome feel to reading experience. Thank you Marti for the hours of reading pleasure. A great storyteller.

Everybody's and immature

I read through the "Rachel" part before I gave up. There is absolutely no depth to the characters, and the plot is very shallow. This book seems more suitable for a young teenage girl.

Highlander series Book 1-3

Loved the stories, as it continues the lives of some members of the MacGreagor clan. It describes their lives, their falling in love, lots of action, humorous parts, and best, no graphic parts. Just ordered another book from this author

Such a great series! It was hard to put the book down! A wonderful depiction of how it was. Good descriptions of events, clans, behavior, etc.!
