An intense book written from the perspective of a homicide victim's sister. The author's brother was murdered while sitting in his car, unarmed. At the time of the murder, the author was serving God and did not know her brother had been dead for seven hours. Driven by pain, the author enters a debate with God. She exposes revictimization by the criminal justice system and explores the relationship between grieving and mental health. The author admits the legal proceedings invoked more fear and anxiety in her and her family. Amid darkness, this book is full of inspiration to live purposely.
I was initially drawn to read this book because of her ties to the Mississippi gulf coast. However, when I read her book I understood that God drew me to read it because I struggle with faith because of grief I still go through almost a decade later. This book put many things in perspective. I highly recommend this book if you struggle with faith and grief too!
This was truly a good read. I enjoyed the book entirely. There are highs and lows; allow yourself to break where needed and return. This perspective allowed for a better understanding of justice system. I love that it is written on true basis.
