*OFFICIAL RE-RELEASE. ORIGINALLY RELEASED ON AUGUST 15TH 2013
Masters of the Game is a tale of three friends, with different backgrounds, and different struggles. Backgrounds and struggles so different that in order to bring them together, their own individual stories had to be told.
In the first short story entitled, “Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy,” Katrina Barnes is a straight-A student. She is the second child of two. Her mom was a single mother, struggling to keep things in order for her kids. Katrina’s brother Rodney was a basketball star at Trenton Central High School, but had a deep and dark secret. A secret leads to a family tragedy they would have never imagined. Katrina has to dive head first into the secret business of her older brother and master it.
In the next story entitled, “Family Separated by Lust,” Roniqua “Ronii Green” Greenfield was an only child living with both her parents. Too many, including Ronii, thought her parents had the perfect marriage. In reality, that was far from the truth. Infidelity tore through their marriage and a struggle with addiction produced a disease that would change the lives of both of her parents. With medical bills piling up, and options wearing thin, Ronii would have to turn to the streets just to stay above water. In a short period of time, Ronii would master her chosen game.
In the final story entitled, “Gangsta Girl,” Lyric “Crenshaw” Pasadena, is a full-blooded California girl. She’s the oldest of three girls. After losing her mother to a drug overdose, and her father and closest uncle to deadly gunplay, Lyric’s grandmother would gather the girls and bring them right into the heart of Trenton, NJ. Little did her grandmother know she would bring her granddaughters into the heart of a warzone. After the vicious murder of her grandmother, Lyric is forced to protect her sisters by any means. With the help of a long lost cousin, Lyric makes it her job to wreak havoc on her grandmother’s killers and in the midst of it all, become a master assassin. The stories of these three ladies are proof that men have some serious competition when it comes to the many different games that can be played in the streets.
A talented and dedicated author/writer, Elijah Foreman has been moving his pen for quite some time. As a young child, he was taught how to structure a stage play and that would birth his writing journey. At that time he wrote as a hobby and had no idea that this would one day be his career choice.
In 2010, at 18 years old Elijah made the decision to find a way to get into the urban lit industry. After having a chance conversation with Wahida Clark and NeNe Capri in his hometown of Trenton NJ, Elijah was motivated as ever to one day have his books read by the masses.
In 2013, at 21 years old Elijah would finally get his chance when he signed his first publishing deal and released his first book a month later. Over the next three years, Elijah had many pitfalls and setbacks hinder his progress but he kept pushing forward. Finally, in 2016 Elijah decided that it was time for a change. That change would be his own company, Elite Novelist Group.
Now, at 29 years of age, Elijah feels like he has dealt with every setback head on and is still here pushing his pen. And, with 28 books currently out, Elijah always lets it be known that he is not stopping any time soon. With podcast host and screenwriter being added to his list of accomplishments this year, there is plenty more of Elijah Foreman soon to come. Stay tuned.
This was 3 1/2 short stories mixed into one. The 1/2 short story was a glimpse into the fourth sequel in the series. The series was okay; sort of interesting.
Man this was my first time reading your books I say they are great I can't wait to get to the next book and see the out come of this story so Elijah Foreman keep up the good work.
3.5 stars but bad read...I do look forward to reading part two to see where this life took these youngsters. They all lived some heavy lives what changes will come about good bad or indifferent.
Really enjoyed how each book rolled over into the other book. Held my interest throughout each story and made the characters really interesting. Can't wait for book 2.
