Roscoe Romance #1

His Dirty Secret

Rate this book
A Billionaire Bad Boy Romance.

ANTHONY

I never thought I was the guy who loses his head when someone tall, dark and dangerous looks my way. Who’d risk everything for a taste of something that’s never as good as it seems.

It only takes one night with my best friend’s brother to change that.

The secrecy is what drew me in, not the way my skin tingled from the moment I lay eyes on him. No, it was intrigue that led me to seek out the eldest Roscoe prince, the mysterious black sheep of the family.

Where had he been until now? Why did scandalized whispers follow him into every room? What sins in his past had even my best friend wanting nothing to do with him?

I don’t know if he’s as dangerous as everyone claims. I don’t know why I’m the only one who thinks there might be more to him than this darkness everyone else sees.

All I know is I can’t stop looking for proof I’m right…because I’m already in way too deep.

RYAN

I thought prison had prepared me for this. The stares, the cold shoulders, the contempt…but it doesn’t matter. I can’t take back what I’ve done. I’m not sure I would, even if I could.

There’s only one shining light in the darkness, a brightness I can’t look away from, no matter how many people warn me I should.

Anthony, my little brother’s best friend.

They say I’ll only hurt him too, and they’re not wrong. Yet every time he shows up at my door, I can’t help but let him in. I don’t know why he believes I’m worth it, what he sees that nobody else does. I just know that I need it.

Crave it.

Crave him.

And when a one-night stand leads to unexpected consequences, when he finally starts to listen to them and pull away…all I know is I’ll do anything to stop it.

I don’t know how he convinced me I could be the man he deserves, but he did. I can.

And I’ll do anything to prove it.

This book is 55,000 words of American royalty and their dirty family secrets, mpreg and a brooding ex-con’s love child, not to mention blackmail, bar brawls and secrets that refuse to stay buried. Come for the sex and scandal, stay for the sweetness….but only if you’re over eighteen!

Ok, this book had potential, but dear lord did it fall flat. It was super speedy rushed - the two MCs basically had one night together, two conversations and then were in love. Ryan’s family were awful. His brothers were arrogant know it all jerks, his dad a farcical example of head-in-the-sand parent, Tommy was a completely underdeveloped character and Ryan’s mother a spiteful cow. I can’t believe no one defended him from her tirade, they just allowed her behaviour because ‘you know how she is’. No. Just no! You don’t invite your brother to brunch and then let your mum wish him dead. The way the family drama was resolved at the end was downright pedestrian - the book spend the first 70% building up this whole backstory of what happened to Ryan to soap opera proportions and then dumped the whole story on two pages as a flashback. And I don’t have a clue what the point of Paul was.

All in all, it started off with promise but I’m kinda gutted I invested the time to read it, feel dissatisfied and a bit let down. Couldn’t even bring myself to read the epilogue.

His Dirty Secret was a interesting read. Ryan and Anthony meet at Ryan's younger brother Jamie's birthday party but for some reason the party get quite and the hushed whispers starts. Ryan knew that it was a mistake to stop and wish his brother a Happy Birthday but hey that's his brother. So why not.

While wishing Jamie a Happy Birthday he spots Anthony and is intrigued by him. He knows he shouldn't pursue him because of where he's been but Anthony is gorgeous, sexy and sweet he couldn't resist.

Yes you are going to want to kill Ryan's family, especially his bitch of a mother. You are going g to want to root for them to get through the rough stuff and when it happens you will be satisfied with reading this book.

**** I was given an ARC copy of this book for my honest opinion*****

There was a lot going on in this book. And it took forever for Ryan to come clean on why he really went to prison.
He let his family think the worst of him. And his mother and brothers! Omg! The things they said! And what his mother did! I would never forgive her! Then we have the husband popping up out of nowhere.
It was all just too much.

I couldn’t focus on just Anthony and Ryan.

My whole Review was just lost ... I'm so frustrated ...

Well again in short:

I really like Mpreg, but in this case the Mpreg was too random, did not fit in and did not hold any real value for the storyline. No storybuilding or explanation.

The author seems to have the tendency to make people fall in love too fast. I'd call that lust not love.

But I do enjoy the author's books, this one was just not quite up to my standards.

It's mpreg, totally out of the blue. Like, with no clue whatsoever that this world is any different from ours and allows for mpreg.

It was a bit much from the beginning, the evil mother, 'nice' brother being a spineless dick, but I thought, hey some porn, bad boy realizing his true love, whatever. Then the evil husband appeared and well, that was TOO much, time for skipping pages. And then, My eyes fell on this

Just what kind of hack author does that?

Ugh, DNF at 60%.

Um no...

I don’t want to write bad reviews but, this was just the worst. I quit at 84% b/c it just got ridiculous. The mother was horrible and the bf had the nerve to say deep down she was a good person even after learning she tried to harm her child while in prison, the bf was so delusional I wanted to smack him up side the head. I felt bad for Ryan, but he seemed clueless at times. I can’t deal with insta love..even in fantasy..I know it’s not real but I need depth and you won’t find it here. God that was a brutal read.
And one more thing. When you have a character speaking and every sentence they speak is the start of anew paragraph that makes it doubly hard to even follow who’s saying what. I had to re-read so many lines b/c I wasn’t sure if the author switched MC’s or what. Seriously don’t do that! Why? Literally every sentence was a new paragraph ugh just the worst

Road to redemption.

Anthony King and Jamie Roscoe have been friends for ten years, even though Jamie comes from the very affluent and judgemental Roscoe family he never sees Anthony as less than. Ryan Roscoe, the black sheep of the family, tall , dark and deliciously tattooed turns up at Jamie's birthday celebrations after going to jail ten years ago to save his cousin Tommy, who's still a drunk after all this time, making Ryan's sacrifice of his life and future for nothing. Sparks fly between Anthony and Ryan and they end up in a hotel room having hot, sweaty hair pulling sex. Ryan decides to stay in town getting a little apartment above a garage and starts his own business. They keep in touch but Anthony knows nothing of Ryan's past and the Roscoe brothers aren't very forthcoming about it or Ryan and the rest of the family are disgusting and the mother is an absolute poisonous b##ch, they all just threw Ryan away and erased him not knowing of Ryan's sacrifices. Ryan opens himself up to Anthony because he's the only one who truly sees him and loves him, Ryan has been to hell and back this last few years and just wants to peace. Someone from Ryan's past turns up and drops a bombshell to Anthony and now everything is blowing up in their faces leaving Anthony heartbroken and hurt with a bombshell of his own. Everything is turning into a mess for everyone and poor Ryan just can't catch a break, but pushed to the limit by Tommy he lets out the whole heartbreaking, horrific truth in front of everyone to show what a s##t show of a family he has. Everyone has a lot to atone for, some too young to understand at the time, but they desperately want to prove to Ryan just how sorry and wrong they were and so the journey to try and build a future begins. Not a long story but very full. Well written in a way I could feel everyone's emotions right through this book, especially Ryan who made my heart hurt and I was genuinely angry on his behalf and I loved Anthony's kind, open, loving heart. I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Anthony is a go with the flow kind of guy. He works hard and loves hanging out with his best friend. Even though they come from different worlds they are close like brothers. So when Anthony attends his best friend's birthday party he had no idea what life had in store for his that night. He meets Ryan, the oldest brother of his best friend that he had no idea existed. Turns out Ryan is the black sheep of the family. All he sees at the party are people whispering out Ryan and he wonders why everyone is reacting the way they are about him. He has known his best friend for ten years that there was never any mention of another brother. One thing that Anthony does know is that he is intrigued bu Ryan and must get to know him.

Ryan is just out of prison and wanting to attend his baby brother's birthday party. He notices the stare and the whispers around him but all that falls away when he meets his brother's best friend, Anthony. Ryan sees nothing but good in Anthony and wonders how he got mixed up into the Roscoe family. Ryan isn't looking to get involved with anyone, especially not someone as good as Anthony. He knows all he'll do in the end is hurt Anthony.

After spending one night together they both can't get enough. As much as Ryan tries to push Anthony away, Anthony won't give up on Ryan. Ryan doesn't know what good Anthony sees in him. All he knows is that he wants to be the man that Anthony sees and he'll do anything to become that man.

Anthony and Ryan are one of my favorite couples ever. Their bond was just so present during the entire story. They are the perfect halves that make the whole. My heart broke for Ryan and what he endured. His resilience is something to be admired. I loved this book and had a hard time putting it down. I didn't want it to end but I could stop myself from reading it. Very well done!!!

There are a lot of secrets in this book, so it's hard to tell which one is actually his dirty one. When you read it, you can take your pick. That's what I did, and I'm not saying which one I choose to be the dirty secret either.

Anthony is Jamie's best friend. Jamie is one of the sons of the Roscoe family. When you hear Roscoe, think Kennedy, only richer and more powerful. The Roscoes are influential, rich, and very family-oriented. If you are a Roscoe and something happens, the family will pull together for you. At least, that's what Anthony thinks. That's what he's seen in the 10 years he's been best buds with Jamie. Except, he learns a little different on the night of Jamie's birthday party.

That night, at one of the ritzy hotels the Roscoe family owns, someone completely out of place walks in. He's covered in tattoos, wearing leather and biker boots, and all in all doesn't look like he would fit in with the Roscoes or their friends. Only it turns out that he's the oldest of the Roscoe boys, Ryan. He's been gone for many years, and now he can finally come home, but he's not entirely sure that he should be home. Then he sees the most beautiful Anthony. There's some kind of mutual zap between the two and they spend a glorious night together.

I think the only person named Roscoe that I like consistently through the whole book was Ryan. He and Anthony are beautiful together, and I love their relationship together. Jamie isn't bad, mostly, and it's obvious that he really cares for Anthony as a friend, but for the rest of them, especially their mother, except for their father, the Roscoes could all go take a long walk off a short pier.

I'd love to see more of Anthony and Ryan.

i read this book as part of an arc program. I really enjoyed this love story between Ryan and Anthony. Anthony was attending the birthday party for his best friend Jamie when a dark handsome stranger showed up wanting to see Jamie. Jamie was shocked to see Ryan and was happy to see him back in town. When Jamie introduced Anthony to Ryan, he learned Ryan was Jamie's oldest brother, who Anthony never knew existed. Ryan is obviously the black sheep of the family, with his tattoos and piercings and wearing leather. Ryan is also the hottest man Anthony has ever seen. Anthony and Jamie are best friends, even though Jamie comes from a very wealthy family, who own a number of real estate businesses as well as casinos. Anthony met Jamie ten years ago when his mother started working as a maid for Jamie's family. Anthony and Ryan have an attraction, but Ryan tells him it can only ever be for one night. Anthony decides to spend the night with Ryan because he thinks he may never get the chance again. They have a great connection and when they continue to cross paths, Anthony treats Ryan like a human when the rest of Ryan's family treat him like bad news. Ryan has been away for ten years and when Anthony asks why, he learns Ryan was in prison, but he is not told why. Anthony and Ryan continue to see each other, against warnings to stay away from each other from Jamie. When They start to develop feelings, things are going well until Ryan's past comes back to cause more problems. Anthony tries to stand by him, but he doesn't know the whole story and it is hard to know who to trust. i loved Ryan and Anthony together. Ryan was really a great guy who tried to be better, but he took on too much and had no idea how to handle it. Great one.

Miscommunication

There was a lot going on here. Subplots tied up in a nice little bow before being horribly beaten with a dead horse on steroids. Nothing says "get her done" quite like a cliche story with to many plots holes.

Ok ok there are not a lot of plot holes but this universe still doesn't make a lot of sense and some major stuff goes unexplained. We are to assume that this family is influential enough to be the owners of a huge corporation but of what? They started off being a family that owns this amazingly popular hotel who turned out to also buy casinos and owners of the local news paper. Basically they are the town and yet we are suppose to believe that the person who has lived there for 10 years had never heard of the oldest son? This people are basically Gods in human form yet no one in this town, city, nation(?) Talked about the missing son. I think the sauce not.
On another note, I got it was mpreg, but why? While the author did say it was there was no explanation as to why this was possible. It isn't even mentioned as a possibility till the end of the book. The MCs boinked a few times (with condoms) but the only reason they did this was because of diseases. One of the MCs even mentions how he wants to get tested to make sure he is clean. That would have been a good time to take about babies. There is so much wrong with this story but.....
But I kind of liked it. It was different to say the least. Wasn't all bad at all. Just had a lot of problems...lots

Fantastic!!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last. Not by a long shot!

I’ve read umpteen mpreg books and sooner or later they all kind of sound the same. Not so with this book! What makes this book and author unique is there is no alternate universe, no intricate world building that’s necessary to accommodate an mpreg plot. This book is written in this universe, in real time, with real people and problems. The only difference is men can carry children too, and I LOVE IT!!

This book was perfect. There was no unnecessary angst, no required miscommunication needed to move the plot forward. The characters were developed beautifully and the MCs relationship happened totally organically. This author is super creative and he knows how to pull on the readers heartstrings without being dramatic. This book has all the feels. I was shocked, I cried, I was angry, I was even protective of Ryan when his vulnerabilities came to the surface. And while the next book is about another family member, I love how we get to keep up on Ryan and Anthony’s life as a couple.

I cannot wait to dive into this author’s catalogue of work, because I have a feeling I’m going to be anything but disappointed.

5/5 totally original and amazing stars!

His Dirty Secret, by Aidan Bates is a unique twist on the best friend's brother romance.

When Ryan returns home to wish his brother Jamie a Happy Birthday, he hooks up with Jamie's friend, Anthony. As Ryan is intrigued by Anthony, he ends up changing his plans and staying in town.

Ryan, back in town after spending time in jail, trying to protect someone else, is considered the loser of the family. As Anthony starts learning about Ryan via Jamie and others, he is warned away from Ryan, being told that anything he touches ends up destroyed. Everything Anthony hears is so contradictory from the man he spent the night with, leaving Anthony confused.

Ryan is extremely misunderstood, and has been shunned by his family. One can't help but to route for him to find joy and love, as well as prove his family wrong. Anthony may just be the one who can help him, just by showing him that someone cares about him.

This story is a compelling story full of strong attraction, family drama, secrets, threats and some sweet romance. I was sucked in from the first page and couldn't put His Dirty Secret down.

Ryan and Anthony !

Ryan is the Black sheep of his wealthy family. Ten years ago he went to prison and his mother "erased" all evidence that he was part of their family. Which is why Anthony is shocked when he goes to his best friend's birthday party and discovers his friend has a hot, sexy older brother named Ryan. He is also shocked to see the disdain some family members hold against the man, especially when they interact and the man Anthony has come to know seems nothing like the one his best friend and family warn Anthony away from. They will just have to keep their relationship on the down low.

But secrets have a way of getting exposed and the past has a way of haunting you, and soon the two men will find their lives rocked upside down and have to figure out how to make it all right.

Well written story of two men who have an instant attraction and bond, even when one tries to pull away due to doubt he's good enough. Both characters are likeable and relateable. And the supporting characters are intriguing. I'm excited to see what follows.

I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Wow

I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book. New series for Aiden and it's starting out with a bang. Anthony is friends with a Roscoe and it's a blessing for him. He's a son of a housekeeper and just happy him and Jamie clicked when they first met. No one messes with him when he drops the name. At Jamie's birthday party a stranger walks in and changes everything for him.

Ryan is home after spending ten years in prison for a crime he took the blame for. Love will have you do the craziest things sometimes. But what if what you did doesn't change anything? Ryan isn't welcomed with open arms when he walks into the party. Jamie is the only one that gives him a big hug and he was the only reason Ryan stopped in the dreadful town. But when he lays his eyes on Anthony maybe it wasn't such a bad ideal after all.

The truth about Ryan's prison stay is sad. But now he has a starker that is trying to blackmail him. Anthony wants nothing to do with him. Ryan is at his wit's end. Will there be a happy ending? Who knows. But there's a secret that needs to be exposed once and for all so the Roscoe's can start to heal.

A must read for sure!

A good story with characters who balance each other out. Anthony is a sweet and honest guy who hasn't had the greatest life but hasn't let it affect him. I like that he isn't swayed by other's opinion and keeps an open mind. Ryan doesn't exactly have a great or supportive family and has just started his life again after serving his time in prison. The two meet during Ryan's younger siblings (who happens to be Anthony's best friend) birthday party and they attraction is electric. The two agree to one night.

I liked the chemistry but it was a bit frustrating with the secretiveness of Ryan's past from his family and the secret Ryan himself keeps to protect his cousin. I wanted better for Ryan and felt bad that he was being treated like a piranha and didn't have any support from family members. Even Jaime who was glad to see Ryan thought badly enough of him to try to warn off Anthony and also told Ryan he couldn't pursue Anthony because he was a pox on life when it came to other people.I was glad Anthony was there for him.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

This book is well written don't get me wrong. Bates does an excellent job with the use of plot twists and the smallest clues to the big reveal. I just really don't like mpreg as a genre at all. Even when I'm reading straight romance novels I dislike when the author uses pregnancy as a plot device. It just really ruined the flow of the book; it had been building up Ryan and Anthony's connection and trust and then it just escalated exponentially. It was already quite soap-opera-y and that just a bit too much.

The thing that actually made me put the book down was how the Roscoe family kept dealing with Tommy, the town and family alcoholic. It was awful to read how a close-knit family empire wouldn't even attempt to help one of their own. And then foisting him off on Ryan saying "this is your fault so you can deal with him;" it was just really disgusting to read.

In conclusion, I think it was well written with a couple plot issues and I'm sure a lot of readers and potential readers would appreciate genre terms being properly assigned.

Ryan's Return!

After spending ten years in jail for a crime he didn't commit Ryan thought he'd run through his hometown for his brother's birthday. He knew he wouldn't be welcome but that didn't stop him, what he didn't expect was the young man his brother introduced him to. Anthony was glad to attend his best friend's birthday, what he didn't expect was that handsome stranger his friend was so happy to see. His first thought was the hottest guy he's seen in a while had to belong to his friend, where was he keeping him. When he found out it was his friend's brother, let's just say all bets was off, he wanted Ryan from the moment he saw him and if he had his way he was going to have him. Ryan wanted him too but he was trying to fight it, yet Anthony was more determined to have him than Ryan was to refuse him and that was the beginning of their journey together. Ryan himself or his brothers could deter Anthony from reaching his goal and that was to have and keep Ryan for a lifetime. GREAT STORY!!😍😍😍

This was another great story from Aiden Bates! This story is one of redemption, angst and forgiveness. Anthony meets Ryan and it is instant sparks but Jamie (Ryan's younger brother) keeps telling him to leave Ryan alone. Ryan is full of mystery and Anthony wants to know why he hasn't ever heard of him in the 10 years he has been in town. There are many things that happen to give Anthony doubts about Ryan...he finally finds out when Jamie and Ryan's cousin, Tommy, tries to commit suicide from the guilt of the past and the WHOLE story comes out.

This is an awesome read and keeps you on your toes because as a reader we get hints of Ryan's past but we don't know until Anthony knows what the whole story is! Such a great book. I was offered an advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

Anthony was always a good boy and he is a good man. He can see what others can’t.
Ryan has been in prison for ten years and now is back to his family or better said to his little brother.
An intense and emotional travel through Anthony and Ryan story.
When something goes wrong it’s easier to jump to conclusions rather than find out the truth. Only one person was able to see the truth, even though he has no idea about what was going on.
I have read Aiden’s stories for a while now and I have to say his writing has improved a lot; the chemistry between the characters are really good now and the stories are full of small things that show us what is going on in their heads and hearts.
An absolutely great story.

Wow! I read this book believing I'll get one thing but got something completely different and it did NOT disappoint.

Character breakdown;

Ryan: his suppose to be the "bad boy billionaire" but he was anything but that. I felt for him from the beginning it was hard not too, the life he led the family he had. Good Lord it's a wonder he didn't already off himself, but I loved the man he was written well and how he came to be.

Anthony: I loved him loved the way he fell for Ryan how much he gave him and did not turn away even when Ryan tried to get him to run. I loved his devotion and his willingness to help smooth out old wounds, Anthony was my favorite of the two.

The book will make you cry it will, make you a bit angry but it isn't quite different from what you might have expected.

I loved this story by Aiden Bates and it’s definitely a fantastic read, and look at that cover it’s so sexy. Ryan has been in jail his family have disowned him and they don’t want anything to do with him. Ryan goes back home to see his brother Jamie and to wish him a happy birthday and that’s where he meets Anthony. Anthony has been warned away from Ryan by Jamie he says that Ryan is dangerous and brings nothing but trouble, but Anthony has seen a different side to Ryan and he doesn’t understand what’s going on. This is such an amazing read and I loved the characters and this story is so full of emotion and steamy hot scenes, so do yourself a favour and get this book. A 5 plus +++++ ⭐️ read it’s well deserved and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

An amazing story of love and secrets and forgiveness, and moving on. Anthony is just a normal guy whose best friend is rich and from a prominent family. Jamie, Anthony's friend was shocked when his oldest brother showed up in town. He loved his brother but he was a wild card and did not want his best friend near him. Ryan was back in town, how did Anthony not know about this brother, the big, motorcycle driving, tatooed, gorgeous man. It did not take long for Ryan and Anthony to hook up, but now with the secrets and his best friend trying to keep them apart and Ryan's past showing up, it is getting complicated. But not for Anthony, he loves and accepts Ryan and see what others do not. Things are not what they seem. I recieved this as part of a bundle ARC.

What in the %#!&*?!

**beware spoilers**
What in hellsbells-- mpreg?! Like how? I don't understand! I can't wrap my mind around how this is happening.. unless we're in a syfy world idk about..

I'm all for M/M romance, people being happy and having babies, but the logic and science behind mpreg isn't working for me.

Whatever happened to Peter, the stalker, unwanted husband? Are they divorced? Did Anthony and Ryan marry? If so, when.. where..

Lots of drama in this story jam packed into under 200 pages. Yet, a lot of the story felt like the descriptions were unnecessarily long, run on sentences with an occasional splash of a big rarely known word that didn't really fit the scenario. (ie: anathema)

Aiden has done it again! This is one of the most emotionally brave, heartbreaking, foolish, romantic, loving, supportive, sexy all encompassing books I've read in a long time. Aiden has matured awesomely as a writer. Anthony is wonderfully brave and wise in knowing himself and what he wants in life. He questions, but he is willing to take the risk for his happiness. Ryan is the type of man who takes family loyalty and commitment seriously and sticks with the painful plan because of love and family. I would love to know what exactly happened to Peter the predator who targeted Ryan. I hope we hear more of how Ryan and Anthony then Ryan and Marianna, his mother are doing in Liam and Jamie Ryan's brothers stories. Well done Mr. Bates!

Anthony goes to his friend Jamie's birthday party where he meets Ryan a tattooed Biker and is hooked.
Anthony had moved to Culvertown ten years ago and Jamie had been his friend ever since. Going to his birthday party he was shocked when A tattooed biker walked in and Jamie hugs him and calls him brother and Ryan. Why had he never heard reference to him before. He is attracted to the man and goes to a room with him. Ryan tries to push him away but Anthony keeps going back. As more of Ryan's past emerges life gets more complicated for the pair. A MM romance to relax and enjoy.

Moving and emotional

Anything is a outsider that is best friends with the rich family named The Roscoes. Jamie is his best friend that learns his brother Ryan is out of prison but was a big family secret that no one talked about and no reminders that he was even alive. When Anthony first sees Ryan he can’t stay away from him even when he learns the darkest secrets of all. They have to fight for their love but Anthony sees the good man that Ryan can be.

I cried and cheered for them all. As always a great book to read and can’t wait for the story to continue on with the next Roscoe.

Ryan returns home for his brother Jamie birthday. He meets and hooks up with Jamie`s best friend Anthony. But he is the black sheep of the very wealthy family and keeps lots of secrets.
Anthony is the good guy coming from a very different upbringing.
Sparks fly and they can`t stay apart.
Add to the misture Ryan`s poisonous and prejudiced mother and his alcoholic and drug user cousin/best friend.
Amazing book!!
Can`t wait to read Jamie`s story!!
