Wish.com version of Pretty Woman
The core of the story is that a wealthy money-maker's daughter becomes a high-class call girl after her father is incarcerated for bilking his clients (cough Bernie Madoff cough). Because she's lost her fortune, and has to pay for her mother's medical care (mom went insane after all that transpired), she changes her name and her eye color, and becomes an escort.
Um, what? How could it be possible that no one would know what a famous person's daughter looked like, especially if said famous person was in the news for his crimes? Totally unbelievable.
The male character alternated between being a dick, and being totally immature towards her. Worth millions, good-looking, didn't know how to act in most situations. I had zero connection to or sympathy for him, from start to finish.
Their chemistry was more like him being really horny 80% of the time, and her feeling hopeful that maybe, just maybe, he'd overlook the fact that she was a hooker - which is to say, there was no chemistry. All of the build-up with flirting and describing how hot they felt, and ... zilch.
The author tried so hard to make this book seem more erotic than it was, but failed miserably. This story was more or less a prim Harlequin novel with dirty words thrown in for shock value.
Seriously, I didn;t even care that the ending was a cliffhanger. There is no way I would waste any time reading another book by this author.
