A Lemon Tea Cozy Mystery #3

Witch is When it Gets Crazy

Rate this book
Welcome to Lemon Bliss, Louisiana where an abandoned lemon tea factory is the most happening place in town and witches secretly rule the roost. Violet Broussard is busy, really busy. She's running her bakery with her bestie and spinning in circles trying to get up to speed on her, ahem, powers. Life has been a bit crazy all on its own. Throw in Gabriel who's too handsome and charming for his own good, and she's juggling a lot. Despite the madness, she's discovered Lemon Bliss just might feel like home. On an otherwise uneventful day, a supernatural investigator turns up dead after a night at the defunct lemon tea factory. Though Violet thought the old factory would be the death of her, instead it's been the death of two others. Things get really crazy when it turns out the poor guy died of poisoning from a plant well-known for its use by witches in days gone by. Violet's suspicions are spiked more than her grandmother's lemon tea when she finds her mother and the other older witches snooping about in the factory at night and removing items. With the supernatural investigators determined to find ghosts in the factory and another mysterious death, Violet is thrown into the middle of the investigation. Again. Breaking and entering has become her go-to power because it's easy-peasy for her. It's all in the name of justice, right? Meanwhile, the supernatural investigators are talking to non-existent ghosts, the lemon trees are blooming out of control, and the older witches are making mischief to throw her off the scent. Loopy lemon tea, witches and wackiness abound in this cozy mystery.

This was a cute ending to the series, but was definitely my least favourite book of the series too. It frustrated me how violets mum and Lilah were being so sneaky, particularly when Violet was coming to terms with being a witch. I’m glad that the secrets were revealed though. I was happy (but expected) the proposal. And I liked how they spoke of children in their future and how he wouldn’t mind if they inherit her powers. Another completed series :)

This was a good ending for this series. Although I must say Violet's mom and Lilah were getting kind of annoying. In the end the older ladies ended up telling the kids what was going on though which helped them get along again. I am so happy he proposed to Violet. It was a nice ending.

Clearing the air

A good read but really not as good as the previous books. The storyline was good but it just lacked something and the characters acted differently too. When another ghost hunter is found dead, she and her BFF start sleuthing. How could he have gotten the item that lead to his death? Old potions, a full investigation, people visiting the factory willy-nilly, lies and accusations are all mixed into a storyline that actually had me feeling a bit disappointed. Okay the ending was sweet but the end of the mystery was lacking.

In Lemon Bliss, the only bakery in town was doing a brisk business today. Since Violet and Daphne's baker had been open 6 months now and was making a profit, the partners decided to hire more staff and to occasionally take a day off. However, Violet Broussard’s mother, looking very disturbed, wanted to talk to her right away.

It seems that “Harry”, a paranormal investigator, had died… and rumor said he had died right after visiting their old lemon tea factory! Six months previously, another man had died there, and it was making George, who was investigating their witch’s coven, even more persistent. He brought in a few more supernatural investigators, including the first victim’s son and two buddies, and they were apparently sneaking back into the off-limits factory again. Even though Harry had actually died at his home of an apparent heart attack, the Sheriff wanted to question Violet, always giving her a hard time. Violet was getting suspicious of the coven’s activities right now since they always seemed to be in the middle of it when the deaths occurred.

The Sheriff once again acted like Violet had done something. He wanted her to go with him to the factory, even though no one died there. He needed to eliminate it from his crime scene list, he said. As to why he didn’t arrest the trespassers, he glibly stated there was no need since they died after a visit! This time the Sheriff wanted to look in the basement. It was a waste of time, but he said he would be coming back to continue the search – for what, he wouldn’t say.

Violet returned to the factory herself to try to see where people were getting in since the padlock was still on. She caught Lila snooping, so the two of them checked the windows and found the point of entry. They checked their secret coven meeting room, but it seemed no one had discovered it.

When Violet met up with Gabriel for their date, he told her the medical examiner said Harry had been poisoned with wolf’s bane, an old ingredient used by witches! This wasn’t going to look good at all to the Sheriff! The coven was so determined to protect their secret. But would they murder a 19-year-old? Was the poison intended for George, the investigator who had been harassing them constantly? Or was it someone else in the community?

As with the other two mysteries in this series, I like the fact that so many things are going on at once in this small town that the reader hardly knows where to look next! The story line is good and moves at a steady pace. The mystery gives the reader very few hints which makes it difficult to figure out the perpetrator! You will love the crazy cast of characters, especially the town busy-body, Lila! She’s always right in the middle of things! This is a fun book to read and I definitely recommend it!

Witch You Wouldn't Believe #1 - My first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised by this good story. Set in Louisiana (my second choice after Texas), this well written story about a witch coven is intriguing and mesmerizing. The characters range from interesting to annoying and do grow as the series goes on (I've also read Witch is When it Gets Crazy #3). I do have a problem with a character not trusting her mother and she really doesn't have a broom to ride with her suspicions. She has a good relationship with her mother, but still thinks she could be a murderer? Nope, didn't work for me, but the story held my attention to the end. There is humor, but not much about magic. This book does a good job setting up the series. It is not a cliffhanger although I assume the story continues in book 2. (There's still the background story from book 1 in book 3.) 5*

Witch is When it Gets Crazy #3 - As much as I would have enjoyed reading the second book, I didn't have it. The coven is getting more interesting, along with the characters. The story is interesting, but I still have a problem with Violet not trusting her mother, and some of the older witches, she's too strong with her suspicions and her actions. She was proven wrong in Witch You Wouldn't Believe (#1), yet she didn't learn a thing and her actions are dishonest. Why not use a "keep out" spell for the factory, like the Coven's room. Otherwise, the characters are developing into an interesting bunch and the plot keeps the reader immersed. 4*

Oh another trip down Lemon Bliss way! George the ghost hunter is up to his shenanigans once again. This time he pulls in more guys to help and one of them actually dies. Once again the sheriff, Harold, goes to poor Violet because she is the owner of the abandoned building. The fun begins when the coven starts to act really suspicious and poor Violet and Daphne are feeling like they are really upset that their moms and the other coven members may be responsible for the young man;s death. Not enough info and too much paranoia is hard to take. It comes to a point Violet is ready to leave Lemon Bliss and the magic side of her heritage.
Loved the book! Loved the characters and I hope there will be more of them even if it;s just to peek in on their lives in future years.

A delightful, quirky tale. The same set of charming ladies are up to their usual antics, as they did in previous books in this series. They are indeed a hoot! Ms. May does very in-depth characterizations. All the players are interesting and hold their place in this tale. The main female character and her best friend experience much angst and drama unfolding this mystery. Throughout all the madness, the main female and the main male characters manage to develop their relationship more and leave us with a happy every after. Sigh! Sorry that this series has come to an end as I really liked to hear about the next set of adventures the ladies got into.

Great clean reading!

Interesting that someone dies but I spent the whole book trying to figure out who the was responsible for the death. Never a really clear indication of who (till end of course). Nice job! Had me working it all the way through. The interactions between the 'moms' and the two 'daughters' is very real.

This is the third book in this series and my first. Really fast, quick and easy read. I did it in a few hours.

Book does standalone but definitely would like to read first one to help explain some of the craziness in this one.

I received this book as an ARC and this is my freely and honest review.

I liked everything about this cozy mystery. The characters are well developed, the dialogue is entertaining, the love interest does not take over the book and the mystery was different than the usual.

It's a busy book, there's a lot going on, but it manages to all still make sense. There is a bit of a supernatural aspect, but it fits in well. Easy to get into and fun to read.

Part of a series but can be read as a standalone (although in order might be better since it does reference events from past books). Recommended to cozy mystery fans. Thanks to Booksprout for my copy, I have chosen to leave a review.

Series has potential

I'm not really into leaving negative reviews but this third book of the series seems a repeat of the first book. There is lots of potential with this series if the author would get past the characters being so fearful of being exposed as witches. Even if the author is maybe going for a more realistic view of witches in a small southern town which I'm from, it's not realistic. The characters just aren't progressing in the series but I see so much potential. The author is a good technical writer but just a little more pizzazz would make this series great.

This is book three in the Lemon Tree Cozy Mystery series. And I enjoyed this book just as much as the last, it had a good original storyline with characters you can relate to, that draws you into the story and keep you reading to find out what happens next. I couldn't put down the previous book in the story and this one was just the same. If you enjoy Cozy Mysteries or even Paranormal Romance about witches then you will truly enjoy this series. Book three in the series and there has been another death and the older witches are keeping secrets from Violet Broussard and her friend Daphne, what is going on? Violet with her boyfriend Gabriel's help are trying to find out what the older women are hiding. A well-written story. If you liked the first two books in this series I would say this one is a must-read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love books that have witches in them. Add the great characters, scenes, and the comedy and this was one of my favorites of the series. This as a book that had me wondering what the heck the main character was up to on every page. Thank you for allowing me to read and write about this book.

Finally

Why we need to disclose our lives to mom's but they consider their lies "protecting us ". A brief truth is more precious than any tangle of protecting lies. It's serves no one any good.

Sweet end to the series

This book finally sees the older witches in the coven giving up their secrets - and not before time too! It was a long time coming and a bit of an anticlimax for me, but overall the book was still a sweet read that I enjoyed.

The writing is sloppy and unfulfilling. I tried to read these books and give them a chance, but as each book has been added, the worst the writing is. Lots of unexplainable issues throughout the series. I probably will not read more from this series.

Cool Conclusion!

The ending to the Lemon Tree Cozy Mysteries series ties up all the loose ends from the first two books. Especially if you've read the first two, you won't want to miss it. Enjoy!

These books are very light reading. Not much action or drama. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t have smut or won’t make your pulse rise please read this series.
