I had a realization while listening to this audiobook... one of the best parts of this series (for me) is how many books there are.
This may sound obvious, but it feels like watching a TV show, where you grow with the characters as they grow, becoming more invested in their lives and experiences with each passing episode/book. I have felt this way about other book series, of course, but the last time I read this many books in a series was probably Narnia.
I'm enjoying how the author didn't choose an "easy out" by writing a couple or even just one book for this story. Feels like other apocalyptic books are so short and lacking the potential magnitude this kind of story could entail, whereas this series takes us on an adventure - multiple adventures! - around this new world situation and it's surprisingly varied inhabitants.
Admittedly, I wasn't completely enthralled and enthusiastic when starting this series, but it did seem interesting and a bit different from my usual taste in binge reading, so I kept on. And I think it was a great decision for me. The author has me hooked - I am emotionally invested in these characters now and I want to see where it goes from here.
While "Luke's Trek" was when I felt the series really shined, this book felt all too rushed and like the author was trying to get tonthe ending in the cleanest, most outlined way possible. I have rated it as high as I did mostly because of its place in the series overall. While I don't mind the ending whatsoever, I just wish it had been written out a bit better to get there. Overall though, I enjoyed the entire story through the books.
This series had me hooked from the very first book and I powered through the last few because I really want to know what would happen. I sort of felt the ending was a little rushed. I would have liked to have seen even the month after. I would have liked to see how all these different groups would coexist in the “new America”. It’s defiantly a series I could read again though.

Civil War is number six in the America Falls series and is just as brilliant a read as the first was. There is no padding in any of these books every word is part of the story. I can't believe that I've read all these books but I still have five to go. A fantastic, fast-paced, page-turner and I recommend the author and the series.
In this one new America, lead by the ex presidents son, tries to take over concord and Manchester. Issac gathers the brotherhood and the maurauders to help out and they defeat them. They draw up a treaty and a new nation starts to emerge.
Great Job Scott Medbury! You're doing this genre right. It's a busy literary niche right now (post-apocalypse) but you're making your story relevant and unique with this ongoing tale.
I like that this story starts off with the backstory of President Riley. There wasn't a huge unfolding of all his history but enough to give you the foundation of his motivation, after the fall of America. I like that Medbury straddles a line for a minute making you feel feelings about Aiden and his circumstances but also not enough to sway your feelings from Isaac and Luke's and Colonel Randall's groups. A clear line has been drawn between good and bad I believe.
I think we might also get a bit of foreshadowing for book 7 with the random attack on the mustang too!!! Hmmmm.
There WERE a few instances where I was feeling a little "C'mon, reallllyyyy?!" where Luke was more concerned with the dating prospects rather than battle or his daughter but I guess we have to remember they're still 21 after all.
At about 20min left to the book I was worried about how it'd get wrapped up in that short amount of time but I think Medbury cleaned it up nicely and hastened the epilogue like you do when a story is over, but I heard that there's another book coming so I guess we'll see if there's any overlap between characters and plots with the new story or if its just a parallel tale.
Again, he does great NOT boring his audience to death with a huge recap of previous books like many authors do in a series. A bit of recap is nice but most over do it in my opinion.
The narrator has been the same throughout and I like that. Barr does great with all the voices and really brings the story to life.
Scott Medbury's Civil War: Adapt, Fight,...Survive is the sixth novel in his America Falls series. As usual, this book, even from the beginning was very hard to put down. It continues the American Falls story by giving an account of the conflict between the soldiers and citizens of Concord and Manchester where some of the well known characters, such as Isaac Race and Luke Merritt, battle against a new foe called New America led by a ruthless despot who just so happens to be the son of the previous U. S. President. In any case, this book is another breathtaking ride, with likeable characters on the good guy side, and loathsome personalities on the bad guy side.
It makes for an entertaining read regardless of some of the logical missteps in this fast moving volume. For example, if a citizen is running around fighting with a baseball bat, it might be a good idea to pick up a gun from one of the corpses. Maybe Scott never read about the Battle of Stalingrad. In any case, the book is still fun reading.
as a new army calling themselves" New American "ran by a ruthless join us or die president, emerges. Isaac's group must face the threat and try to join all the other groups they've ran across to take on this massive army. not only is it coming for one of the groups but all of them. if these groups can't come together this may be then of their new worlds as they know yet again. there're also some new romances happening between ben and a new resident, Luke and a pretty red head from another group. the faith of the future remains unknow.
One of the best and SCARIEST books I have ever read. The scary part is that this could happen NOW. In this day and age of politics
This is a possibility! I loved the development of the characters as they deal with the new life in a war torn world. I hate waiting for the next book but glad I have time to clean my house again because when I read Scott's books....nothing get done. I can't put it down.
Hmmm. To start, the racially insensitive views of this author have reared their heads again. Praising the Dukes of Hazard, killing off the only black almost-main-character, the characterization of anyone who isn’t white.
The story is not as good as the others. The plot was rushed, the fights jumped around too much, there were some unexplained details. Overall, probably the worst of the series so far.

I read all six books in two weeks . I could not put them down. I would recommend this series to anyone young or old. A very easy read. Very entertaining. I am a female senior citizen.
This is a well written story with great characters. Hopefully we would have these results if a bacterial weapon was used. The author represents mankind in a positive light.
Finished book 6. Love this series. I will have to wait patiently for the next book but that's ok. Great storyline and Author. This will hold your interest to the end.
The sixth and, currently, final book in the series. Like the others, it's a short book, but well written; a page turner. Our protagonists have settled in Manchester, NH, and deal with other settled survivors, culminating in a huge battle. There's a finality to the book, but who knows.
The series grabs your attention immediately and doesn’t let go until you’ve read the last page in the last book. His characters grow yet stay true to themselves. I highly recommend this book to post apocalyptic fans.
This sixth book in the America Falls was full of suspense. I have enjoyed all the books in the series so far. When the president’s son decides to attack the people of Concord and Manchester the settlements must band together.
The battles and strategies in this last chapter (last for me, at least) were decent. However, the lack of development in the characters and lack of development in the plot started back in the first book just sinks this series.
I thought this would be the end of the series and it dawned on me...they haven't killed the Chinese and taken back the country. Anxiously awaiting the last book.
