An island brings together two damaged souls seeking respite and recovery...

Working wildlands fires is what Royce Donovan was born to do. But he’s been living in Dallas for the last year and fighting urban fires is fraying his nerves. When tragedy strikes, Royce finds solace in alcohol, and ends up in rehab on rural and remote San Juan Island.

Samantha Vickers swears she’s happy. She has the perfect job as Historian at San Juan Island’s National Park. Leaving the excitement and stress of the big city for the bucolic life of an island was a huge change—and a risk she had to take for peace of mind.

A firefighter coping with tragedy. A historian escaping traumatic shock. An island brings together two damaged souls seeking respite and recovery. Will they discover love as well?

Firefighter Royce Donovan has been helping his sister and her daughter in Dallas, but when he hesitates in a fire he struggles to cope.
Samantha Vickers is a park ranger on a beautiful island. She has her own reasons for picking such an out of the way job.
This us a story of two people who have chosen different ways to cope with trauma, and how they moved past it.
A sexy journey of self discovery Here is a lovely gentle story , with the fantasies of our characters having the most fun. It links into a series by our author and a Kindle World. But is easily read on it's own.

This is the first book by Regina Kammer that I have read and was delighted with the story.
Royce, an experienced firefighter has seen and felt a lot of devastation in his line of work and he uses alcohol as a crutch until he is sent to rehab by his boss. Samantha is a park ranger historian who came from the city to a quiet island with her own mental anguish. Together they find support.
This is a fast paced novella that ticks all the right criteria. It has realistic characters who seem genuinely caring, honest and trustworthy. The settings are described so well I want to go to both Dallas and this island, California's fires, as described by Regina makes me a little more hesitant. LOL
The simple boy meets girl plot is exciting due to this author's writing. I look forward to reading more penned by Regina Kammer.

My first read by this author. I always find it hard to rate a novella as I always want a bit more. It was a fun light read, even though Royce was on an island based rehab centre for his alcohol addiction. The story was more about the attraction between him and historian Samantha who takes the tours on the island. She's escaping her own traumatic event and the island is quite a 'safe' place for those with troubles. Will these two find love as well? They certainly steamed up my kindle. I enjoyed the story line and was invested in the characters and their future.

A firefighter goes on a drinking binge after watching a young girl fall to her death. He is sent to rehab where he meets a park ranger that changes his outlook on life. This story was cute and quick. There were a lot of places I could have used some more explaining of things. It goes really fast. Royce was a good guy. His grief over seeing a child die really grabs the reader. Samantha has a lovely life as a park ranger and didn't seem to desire more, but she was a good person, helping the people in the rehab facility as she did. I'd be interested in seeing more of their story.
I received a copy for review.

Royce and Samantha are complex characters, both have a lot of baggage from their past. Their chemistry is intense and hot, and left me wanting to read more about the side characters in this story. This novella is fast paced, and well written.
