There were three things I, Kitty Hoskins, didn’t know when I moved into the all-girls, non-sorority house Blossom Field Avenue #246:
1) The house opposite ours, #247, is home to the gorgeous jerks of the Iota Fraternity.
2) Lucian Spencer Anderson lives in #247 and is possibly the hottest stripper-slash-social-science student you’ll ever meet.
3) #246 (The Blossoms) and #247 (The Dudes) have the longest standing, most ruthless prank war in the history of rivalries. The only thing the two houses agree on is that they live and breathe for the next battle.
Funny then that the real challenge is the one I never saw coming: an alliance with Lucian Spencer Anderson. When a cold winter threatens the stray cats of Deepsilver, our mutual love for animals forces us to team up. Bad, right? Well, it gets worse: we’re going to need the cooperation of our two houses to pull this thing off.
Sunniva Dee is a USA Today and Amazon top 100 bestselling author with an eclectic taste in books. Born and raised in Norway, Sunniva lived in the United States for 17 years before returning to the mothership, where she sucks inspiration from trolls and barn gnomes and cold little mermaids popping their heads out of the fjords. Oh, and Spotify. Always Spotify.
Sunniva dabbles in literary romance, romantic comedy, contemporary romance, young adult fiction, new adult fiction, dark romance, and paranormal. Unlike some authors, she was not raised by fairies, and unlike others, she’s not also a musician. But she boasts a ridiculous sense of humor and an obsession with furry mammals, both evident in the bestselling rom-com series #LovePranks.
Many people might enjoy this book so by giving it 3 stars I'm not trying to discourage anyone from giving this book a try. This is just my personal opinion. While the description makes this book sound awesome I have to say that to me it just didn't meet my standards. Yes there were some funny parts in this book and some of the pranks were pretty epic but it just seemed to drag on. I couldn't quite get into it the way I thought I would. There were way to many characters to try to keep up with and I kept getting them mixed up. I made myself finish this book in hopes it would draw me in but it just never happened. It was not a terrible book but it definitely isn't something I would ever reread. Again you might enjoy it but it just wasn't for me.
What do you get when you mix wild personalities, a perfectly absurd prank war, and a talented author? A hilarious, yet rich, blend of heat, humor, and fantastic writing. From the “veranda girls” to the explosive chemistry of the leads, there’s so much to love about this book. My favorite aspect was the subtle humor from self-aware MCs who almost seem to recognize their role in this fun and ridiculous premise. It works perfectly, making the reader both witness and participant in their games. Sweet, funny, and ridiculously sexy, Sunniva Dee fires on all cylinders in this witty Rom-Com. Did I mention the adorable puppies?? Can’t wait for the next one!!
This book was so funny. The Blossoms and The Dudes have been in a prank war for a long time. Lucian and Kitty are supposed to be enemies but find themselves in a secret relationship. The non stop pranks were funny. The two houses came together for a good cause. Will Kitty and Lucian be able to make things work? A good funny read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic comedy, with an emphasis on the comedy!
I have been looking forward to watching the battle between the Blossoms and the Dudes in their prank war and I wasn't disappointed. I could feel the anticipation and trepidation between each prank as the groups waited for retaliation and it was generally more complex and conniving if the girls were organising it!
Amongst all this hilarity the two houses combined their efforts for good, to raise money and support for a cause and were very successful working together instead of against each other for a change.
Catherine is the newest Blossom, and her instant attraction for one of the Dudes, Lucien is palpable. She is sensible and sweet and a little shy, but just add a little pirate punch and watch the crazy side emerge. They are steamy and intense and seem to be at odds with what this relationship actually means and where it is going.
Let me start off by saying that I'm not normally a RomCom type of gal; give me an angsty-edgy-tortured-hero-darkish-romance and I'm a happy camper. But I was ecstatic to read this because Sunniva wrote it!
The cast of characters is, in my opinion, what really made this book a success. I encountered so many different people, and they all added a different vibe to the story. I can't imagine the book without any of them in it...they just all added that perfect something.
I liked Kitty because she just kinda rolled with it. Where many newbies in her situation might have balked at the tit-for-tat going on, she took it in stride and I admired her ease or adaptation.
Lucian also adds that special something to the story, but it's his qualities of loyalty and devotion that I found so endearing.
Whether you're a RomCom-er or not, one thing is for sure; you will NOT be bored with this book!
(I was given this book in consideration of my honest thoughts)
Love by Pranks is vastly different than your typical Sunniva Dee book. While remaining different it takes place in a city we have all come to love from her previous books and involves some famous faces of books past. Kitty and Lucian are very much star-crossed lovers in this book. They keep their love under wraps with secret rendezvous yet it’s plainly obvious they have a thing. Stolen touches and stolen glances all the while they are pranking each other.
Kitty is a new tenant in the Blossom house. She’s attending college to be a vet and volunteers her time at the animal shelter. She wants to make a difference and help animals in need. She even moves in various misplaced pets into the home she shares with several other girls. What she wasn’t expecting was the prank war she walked right into. They have a rivalry with the Dudes of Blossom Street. She helps the girls concoct some elaborate pranks from mealworms in a cake to messing with their plumbing. She didn’t expect Lucian AKA the Loozter to capture her attention. There is a strict rule that no Blossom can date a Dude.
Lucian is a college student and a stripper. Hey he has to earn money somehow. He was involved with a former Blossom girl that turned out to be a bad situation. He prides himself on pulling some good pranks on the Blossoms. He does everything he can to get near Kitty even volunteering at the same shelter as her. He wants to rewrite the rules for her and will stop at nothing to prove himself to her and the Blossoms that he has her best interest at heart.
I loved how the girls and guys all banded together to save the beloved animal shelter. I think each member of the Blossoms were unique and had a fun story to tell. I liked Kitty even though she could be a bit much at times. Lucian well he was smarmy when you first meet him, but you quickly learn this is an act. The pranks had me cringing at times and I was glad I wasn’t in their house!! All in all, a good start to what could be a fun series.
This book is coming across as very juvenile. There are quite a few things that are bothering me consistently.
-No one can remember Tilda's name. Rude, not funny. -The extension of every other word. Ex. Se-e-e-xy.. A-a-a-nd....H-e-e-ey. Just stop. Please. Too much. -Kitty (Seriously, her name is Kitty.) getting hammered and sleeping with someone and her internal dialogue constantly telling her no I don't want to do this, but her finding herself doing it anyway and outwardly saying yes. That is a bad, bad, bad message to be sending to people. Again. It's too much. -Kitty's descriptions of her roommates.
And that's all in the first 20%! Kitty was beyond annoying. She's holier than thou but apparently does a complete 180 when she's had a few to drink. She throws her inhibitions completely out the window. Oh and how about the fact that she's basically described like Jessica Rabbit, red hair, hazel eyes, big lips, but then says she looks weird. Sure. Right.
I feel like this book was trying too hard to be funny and instead just ended up sounding childish. The moments of funny comic relief were thrown out the window when the same joke was made multiples times (ex, Tilda). It's like when you laugh at something someone says and then they say it over and over to try to get the same reaction. I know someone's blood, sweat, and tears went into this so I'm sorry for tearing it up, but I just wasn't a fan. I can see how I could have liked it, but it just went a little overboard.
I feel like that boy from Polar Express that pisses everyone off by saying over and over ‘Christmas just doesn’t work out for me’. Because this book just didn’t work out for me. I liked Lucian. Everyone else was meh. There were some sweet moments between him and Kitty but not enough to keep me interested. The cat shelter charity campaign felt oddly forced. Like the book needed a focus. But it actually made you lose focus on the actual characters and the plot. They lacked development for me and all that characterisation at the beginning - the poor average looking introvert who really lets loose when drinking - just didn’t go anywhere. I mean, I can tell everyone over and over that I’m blonde, but unless you see me with blonde hair, or dying my hair blonde, or acting blonde... well then it’s a pointless anecdote. I love a prank war - CM Owens does it best. Closely followed by RL Mathewson. There was just too much going on here I got whiplash. BUT this is just my opinion - it seems to have rocked lots of people’s worlds. Basically this book just didn’t work out for me.
I've been a fan of Sunniva Dee's for ages now, and she just keeps getting better. I have adored the humor in all her books, but she has truly outdone herself with this one! You'll need some tissues here, but just for the peals of laughter that have to escape from your eyes.
The only thing that could have possibly made it better would have been to let Inga have a couple of lines - as soon as I realized we were back in Deepsilver I was waiting for an appearance. Oh well, this is just the first book in the series, so there's still plenty of time. I don't care who the next couple is; I just want them soon!
5 Rib tickling stars for Love by Pranks by Sunniva Dee. This is such a feel good story, you come away feeling well and truly satisfied. Full of Humour and college shenanigans between The Blossoms and The Dudes, were there is an on going Prank war. Although this latest war now has Romantic connotations, as new girl Kitty and bad boy Lucien develop a magnetic attraction. But being on opposing sides the rules state that Blossoms and Dudes cannot date. But rules are meant to be broken right? Plus Lucien is a stripper, so how can you resist that.! I really really loved this book, it was like being on a crazy train going full stream ahead into Romcom heaven. It takes you on an hilarious ride, and you don't want to get off. It's funny, and witty and Sunniva's writing is comically fantastic and the characters she has created I just adored, they were so easy to love. It is a brilliant and enjoyable read which I highly recommend.
Kitty and Lucian lived across the street from each other. Lucian living with a group of partying guys and Kitty with a group of fun loving gals. Each house’s goal? Pulling pranks on the other group better than the one before. No relationships allowed. While all the fun is going on, Lucian and a Kitty fall for each other. Can they get past the rules of the game and find a way to be together? I enjoyed as Kitty worked through her feelings and figured out what was most important. Add in great secondary characters living in both of the houses and you had a light hearted story or friendship and love.
She does it again... This author consistently impresses and amazes me with the characters she has running through her head. It was funny, cute, and super HOT, all of which are classic Sunniva Dee. I loved the other characters also (my favorite is Picasso) and can't wait for their stories. As far as Lucian and Kitty go, I loved their journey, chuckled throughout and the background plots really kept me turning the pages. I'm really satisfied with their ending and I hope we get to revisit them in future books, especially if there are drunk conversations involved.
This book was soo much fun!! I was laughing out loud so much my husband thinks there is something wrong with me!! Kitty and her house of Blossoms, and Lucian and his house of Iotas have had a prank war going on for years. Kitty had absolutely no idea of the games when she moved in, but was given her initiation on move in day. The pranks were HILARIOUS! Throw in a bit of drama from Lucian’s ex, and an animal shelter that needs saving and this book has it all!! I can’t wait to see which pranksters have the next book!!
Love by Pranks is funny, sexy and oh so entertaining . The Blossoms and the Dudes have long been in a war of practical jokes . They go to the same college and live on the same street which of course makes these high jinx's so frequent and funny. Now Kitty is a new gal in the sorority and the moment that she lays her eyes on Lucian she knows that she should stay clear but she can't . Lucian is well aware that he should not befriend a blossom but Kitty is irresistible . Loved their fast paced instant attraction that was like a romance whirlwind !!! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
get ready for your drink to come flying out your nose ...this romcom is so hilarious!! i love laughter, laughing, and just finding the humor ... so funny!! couldn't put it down. i am not a prankster ...but this book!! Sunniva Dee is one of those authors i keep meaning to read and i just never have enough time in my life to fit every book in ... great read!! hilarious, funny... so fuN! I hope that she will do more funny romcom again very very soon. maybe??! great writing style!!
This was a great story! It was cute and funny. I loved the banter between the houses. I loved the love/hate relationship between the couples. It had many "laugh out loud" moments. The characters are addicting. I can't wait to read their stories!
One of the first things that drew me to Sunniva and her writing was her witty and dry sense of humor. I get it, and I love it! This book had the humor you see scattered in her other books times a hundred. This is different than any other book she has written, and it worked. She used her humor and ran. I found myself laughing out loud, cringing at the pranks and just thoroughly enjoying seeing this couple try to make it work through it all.
What happens when you fall for your house enemies? The Dudes against The Blossoms live right across from each other and have a long time rival, a rival of pranks.
"One, there is never any doubt whodunnit." "Two, it's all about not losing face." "Three, the time between pranks can be short or long."
Lucian (H) is a swoony character, but down to earth and funny. Kitty (h) I found myself relating to so much, her inner dialogue are things I've said in my head.
They were both such likable characters when they weren't planning revenge against the other…but really they were, and I love how they all come together to help out the animal shelter and put the pranks aside. These crazy neighbors also come up with some pretty fun ideas to raise money and reading the ideas play out was so entertaining.
Sunniva has you questioning Lucian's past right until the end, and even that was some pretty funny stuff.
"Oh man, what if he's not the guy I thought he was? What if he's actually boyfriend material?"
I'm so excited to read more of these wacky characters and see who will be our next pranks to lovers!!
Love by Pranks is something completely different for Sunniva Dee. Love by Pranks is a college based romantic comedy, which is more heavily sided to the comedy. It is a hilarious, rip-roaring, gut-busting barrel of laughs.
Kitty is the newest resident to 246 Blossom Field Avenue (aka…Blossoms). The Blossoms is the all-girls house, that is unfortunately across the street from 247 Blossom Field Avenue. 247 is the ‘Dude's’ house. Kitty is unfortunate/fortunate enough (depending how you look at it) to meet some of the ‘Dude's’ on her way into her house.
She has no intentions to get involved with any of them. Kitty is a vet student who also volunteers at a local animal shelter. This plan is blown to smithereens when she meets, Lucian. Lucian is the bad boy and semi leader of 247. He is a college student, who happens to be a stripper, to make ends meet while in college.
Prior to Kitty arriving at Blossom Avenue, the Blossoms and the Dudes, have some unwritten rules between them. The biggest one is that a Blossom cannot become involved with a Dude and vice versa. Well, it isn’t long, before this rule is tested. Lucian even finds himself volunteering at the same animal shelter as Kitty. When two lost souls, find comfort in each other, will these rules truly keep them apart or will they rewrite them throwing caution to the wind?
A MAJOR aspect of this book, is the prank war between the Blossoms and Dudes. This prank war has been going on for a while and the last thing Kitty expected to be walking into. Each prank is designed to out due the other, but things like food is off limits. At first, I thought Kitty was going to be a slightly stuck up individual who would keep to herself. This idea is changed when she finds hundreds of ladybugs in here room. The whole house (minus ‘The Verandas’) help her round them up to be placed in a natural habitat. After this, it’s all hands-on deck for pranking. Deep down, Kitty is a little hellion, who likes to have fun (it doesn’t hurt that she has an extremely low alcohol tolerance, especially with pink cocktails and pirate punch involved). Her first prank is to make a mealworm birthday cake, for Guns (one of the idiot and outrageous dudes).
I am a HUGE Sunniva Dee fan and was anxious to read this book. I thought the premise sounding interesting but was unsure as to what I would get. I was used to her slightly taboo, fully emotional, lesson learning deep heartfelt romantic books. Needless to say, Love by Pranks, although a different type of book, did not disappoint. Sunniva wrote a seriously funny book, with a cast of characters that had you entertained from beginning to end. It reminded me of my college years, not saying I participated in a prank or two, or three, four and five. I’m highly anticipating the book on the next couple. I can’t wait to read the story of Gun and Seraphina and wonder how/why they got where they are. Should be a good one!!
Awe a modern Romeo and Juliet but with a much happier ending. A fun college based read revolving around parties, charity, animals and pranks. Lots and lots of pranks. What’s not to like?
The romance in this book featured vet student Kitty who just moved in with a group of non-frat girls, the blossoms, and the sexy stripper Lucian who lives just across the lane with his group of frat boys, the dudes. The only problem is their houses are at war. And while its ok for a blossom to mess around with a dude dating is out of the question. Not to mention as sweet as Lucian is he’s also a stripper, a rival and everything Kitty hears about him doesn’t exactly say “Boyfriend Material.” But he does have some things going for him. Like the fact he loves animals enough to help bring the houses together with a goal of saving homeless cats. A sure way to win a future vets heart.
The pranks between the houses had my attention throughout the entire book. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I lived there but I agree this war sounds like it would be a blast. I’m really excited about the rest of the series. (Especially Doc. I knew I liked him because of his brainy ideas but Oh My once he did the Paul Newman skit I was a goner. I think I’m in love)
Love will always find her way no matter if it’s war or peace moment . In this case it’s about a war ( of pranks mostly) between two college fraternity groups of girls named the Blossoms and the boys named the Dudes. There is a ground law that nobody can cross it: nobody is allowed to date with one of them from the fraternity groups. I laughed so hard that sometimes my jaw ached so much, remembering my own college days and the pranks we used to go for against the boys. Kitty wants to become a vet and she dedicates her free time at an animal shelter. She is sweet and very involved in her aims but when she meets the boy who wants more of her than just fooling around she doesn’t know what to do because she has to follow the rules and can’t date him. That’s until both fraternity groups join their power to save the animal shelter and he will do anything to be able to spend more time with Kitty, even bending the rules to their favour. I really enjoyed the book and will definitely read more from this author work as I loved the writing style and the easiness to get through this story at just the right time.
When Kitty decided to move into the Blossom House, she didn’t realize that was about to become a warrior in the battle of the pranks. She is studying to become a vet with a heart of gold, but she also has a mischievous side which she will need if she is going to emerge the victor. The one thing she can’t do is get involved with anyone from the Dude’s house as any personal relationships between the two houses is strictly off limits.
Lucian is a member of the Dude’s house, a college student, a part-time stripper and a grade A prankster. He is drawn to Kitty and is determined that breaking the rules can be so much fun. Let the pranks begin!
Full of heat and humor this story will have you laughing out loud and wanting stories about the rest of the members in these two houses.
This one was quite funny!! The concept? Evilicious! Girl house 246 rivals guy house 247 in the pranks division. They each set out to better the other team’s prank. Until.... Blossom girl Kitty is new at the house. She fits right in with the rest of the girls no problem. Lucien rival bad boy. Student by day and Striper by night. Both 100% pranksters. Something is changing between these two houses. When the two get super cozy and pranking takes a back seat they need to take a step back and analyze the situation. The pranks in this book will have you laughing out loud! They are funny and some are downright mean!! Can’t wait to read the stories of all the other pranksters in the houses!!
Let me start off by saying that this book had me laughing so hard that my stomach started hurting. This story is about Kitty (a college student who moves in with the Blossoms) and Lucian ( a guy who lives across from the Blossoms with the “Dudes”) who fall in love while having a prank war. The whole time I was reading Love by Pranks, I was wishing I could be a Blossom. While reading you will be rooting for the couples and waiting to see what they come up with next. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who loves great pranks and an awesome love story. Can’t wait to read Gun and Seraphina’s book.
I thank Sunniva for the much needed comic relief!!! This was one that reminded me of college, frat parties and fun. Some of the pranks in this story were so thought through I think our Author has had a little FUN in the past. I do like how they were able to come together for a cause and yet keep their Prank war going strong. I did enjoy the building relationship with Lucian and Kitty, even though at times I was bothered by the fact she was influenced by "punch". I can't wait to see what these Pranksters have in store for us in the future....
This book had me laughing out loud. Two Greek college houses, across the street from each other, are engaged in a longstanding prank war. The girls, or Blossoms, against the boys, or Dudes. The characters are adorable and the pranks are ridiculous! My only complaint is that the cover doesn’t match the main characters. The main male character has “long, shaggy, dark blond hair” and “seafoam” eyes. The guy on the cover? Not so much. Other than that, this story is funny and sexy, with a bit of sweet romance. Thoroughly enjoyable!!
5 STARS FOR LOVE BY PRANKS!! There were times I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt. Lucian and Kitty's story was funny, sexy, hot and so good you can't put it down. I loved everything a bout this book from the pranks to the fantastic characters. Sunniva Dee always gives us a fabulous storytelling that you never want to end. I can't wait for more.
It took this book awhile to suck me in. I almost dnf but the story started to pick up. The pranks are funny and I like Kitty and Lucian's whole Romeo and Juliet type romance but I did not care for some of the other characters. I am on the fence on whether I want to read the next Pranks book.
This was a great book. I really enjoyed the concept of the story. It was funny and funny. I looking forward to more in the series! I hope each main character gets their own storyline.
It's a big thumbs up for me and I would recommend it to anyone who's interested in rom coms😁👍
This book is hilarious. I laughed so hard all through it that my stomach and chest hurt because I couldn't breathe. Lucian and Kitty are neighbors at college. They're are in a prank war where their emotions get involved. Can they have love and pranks?
