Tia Parker always seems to fall for the wrong guy. But when she meets Evan Spence at a friend's wedding, it seems like she's finally found Mr. Right. Their spark is undeniable, but reality may extinguish any hope for a future: they are separated by thousands of miles. As the couple struggles with the pitfalls of pursuing romance long-distance, Tia is taken off guard by a new arrival in town. Colby Farren is handsome and charming and has made it clear he's interested in Tia. Yet despite his obvious infatuation, Tia can't seem to get Evan out of her mind. Caught between the attention of two very different men, her complicated love life is soon eclipsed by much more sobering concerns. A break-in at her apartment is just the first in a series of bizarre events, each bringing her one step closer to a dangerous liaison. And knowing who to trust could be a matter of life and death.

Have I said how much I love Traci Hunter Abramson's books? Lol, I'm sure I've mentioned it each time I review one. I was so excited to see this one available for review on NetGalley. This was another page turner for me and I probably lost sleep staying up to read this one (it's been a couple of weeks since I finished it so I don't remember).

Tia Parker and Evan Spence meet at the wedding rehearsal dinner of their friends Julie and Drew. Tia's a high school athletic trainer and Evan is a tech guy who has his own company. They're always late, even when they really try to be on time, so their friends told them the rehearsal dinner was a half an hour earlier than it really was. I thought this was funny and cute way for them to meet--both rushing in thinking that they're late. They find out they have a lot in common except Evan's "geographically challenged" (he lives in Detroit but travels a lot for work), but there are sparks and a mutual attraction between them.

Colby Farren is a police officer moving from Alaska, where he's lived all his life, to Arizona. We don't know much about him except he and his fiancee broke up before he moved to take the deputy position in Arizona. He shows an immediate interest in Tia.

Strange things start happening to Tia--she has 2 flat tires after a game, but when she brings her truck in to have them replaced, she's told there was nothing wrong with them; sometimes she feels as if someone's watching her; she can't find things (like her lotion) where she usually keeps them.

I can't say too much more without giving anything away other than Tia should definitely listen to her gut and good thing there's an FBI guy in the story. 🙂

I loved Evan and Tia together. Evan's a great guy and SO sweet. I got the creeps every now and then while reading this so I'm glad I read most of it during the day. Once the action took over I couldn't wait to finish to see how it ended--let's just say the suspense level was high, and I'm happy I finished it before bedtime or I wouldn't have been able to sleep.

This book is told by the viewpoint of the three main characters--Colby, Tia, and Evan. I know some people don't like multiple "voices" when they read, but I like that we get everyone's viewpoint.
Thanks to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for allowing me to the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

October always puts me in the mood for a great suspense--especially when it's a book by this author. The story starts out fairly gentle, yet I knew there was an underlying dark current. Even though I knew what was coming, I was still caught off guard, and for me, that made it even better.

Tia is a competent and capable woman, although she is always running late. In fact, that's exactly what brought her and Evan together. The romance in this story started out almost immediately, yet the connection gradually builds, giving it a very authentic feel. Evan is a very compassionate man and his fascination with Tia was so sweet. I loved seeing glimpses of characters from a previous book.

The subtle escalation of events carried me away and even had me glancing over my shoulder, especially at the climax of the suspense. The bad guy in this one is definitely crazy and gave me the creeps.

One especially fun note is that we have friends who live near this area and we went to visit a few years ago, so it was very easy for me to picture the setting of the story. I was completely transported to Arizona for a few hours and even though I was freaked out, I loved it.

Content: mild violence; mild+ creepiness; mild romance

So I thought this was going to be a triangle love story. But it was so much different than I thought! I am so naive sometimes! I knew that this was a suspense book but ….

I was just reading along and wondering who she would pick. My first thoughts are always the person first mentioned in a story. But I was really liking Evan and saw that they were really cute with each other.

As the story moves along, you start to get subtle hints of some trouble. Then later they aren’t so subtle as the story plot thickens. I realized my naivety not too long before our main character, Tia, did! Because Tia is just like me; a little naive. She trusts people and why shouldn’t she? Her friends are the whole police department!!

My heart began racing when the suspense part got started. Time was ticking and I needed to go to bed but also needed to find out how this would all end! Now I need to read about some of the characters in this book that had a book of their own!

I really can’t say a whole lot more without ruining it. So go and get it!

If you like athletic trainers, high school personnel, hiking, suspense, Paris, High heat in Arizona, Cold temps of cottages, classic antique trucks, police, security devices, stories that have just a little violence (can’t explain without giving the story away), chocolate croissants, the man of your dreams than this might be for you!

Ooh, stalker books are so freaky to me. I really felt the build up of tension in this book as Tia got closer and closer to trouble. I knew it was coming and I was getting so worked up just waiting for the "big thing" to happen. It was so good!

The bad guy is so sneaky- so slimy. He gave me the willies. Tia is so sweet though. I loved the romance in this book even when I was freaking out. I also loved the return of characters from previous books in this book. It was like having some old friends around.

Clean romance with a touch of suspense is just what I was hankering for this week. This fit the bill perfectly.

Content: light suspense, mild peril, kissing

If something feels off about a person, you should listen to your gut. Traci Hunter Abramson has delivered another page turner full of suspense and some romance.

Tia Parker is a woman that everyone likes. She is an athletic trainer and can play baseball with the boys and be feminine at the same time. She seems to know everyone and is a kind person to all around her. She has the instant attraction when she meets Evan at her friends wedding. They have chemistry. But, he lives across the country and his work keeps him busy. While her interest is in Evan, a new man comes to town and lets his interest in Tia be known.

Strange things start to happen, like the air being let out of her tires at a baseball game. Someone is keeping track of her and it is unsettling to say the least. The suspense builds as Tia tries to find out who is following her.

This book keeps you on your toes (or your eyes on the book) as you follow Tia, Evan, and Colby. It was hard to put this one down.

It’s always a great day when there’s a new book by Traci Hunter Abramson to read! I love her books so much. She’s great with characters, romance and suspense. Everything you could ever want in a book is packed in!

Proximity starts off with Colby. He’s the newest police officer in the tiny town of Cottonwood, Arizona. He’s from Alaska, where life didn’t quite work out. I couldn’t put my finger on why, but I never really liked his character. Maybe it was his cockiness…but I really don’t know.

I loved Tia in this one! She is really her own person. She’s always late, she’s great at playing baseball with the guys and everyone who knows her likes her. There were so many little things about her that made her her own person. I loved that! It was really fun how she and Evan meet and immediately like each other.

Evan is just in Arizona for the wedding of his friend, Drew to Tia’s friend Julie. His life seems so full of adventure. Working in Paris just seems so romantic. I loved the way he always watched out for Tia, no matter what the consequences. And the way that he’s so in-tuned to her to know when something is terribly wrong.

And it was so much fun to see much loved characters Kendra and Charlie from Obsession. It’s always fun to “see” characters that you’ve loved before and find out what’s been happening to them.

The plot of this one is amazing! There were many parts that were romantic and amazing. But the very next part would be so suspenseful that the reader doesn’t want to put down the book until they figure out what’s going to happen next.

If you love romance or suspense, make sure to read Traci Hunter Abramson’s books. They’re some of my very favorites!

PROXIMITY is a romantic suspense that starts off tame and slowly builds to a climatic ending. Readers will enjoy the small-town setting as well as the sweet romance. Those who read OBSESSION by the same author, will enjoy cameos from Kendra and Charlie. An overall enjoyably suspenseful story.

I wasn't quite sure with this one if the author would give readers a goose chase with who the villain would be or if she would lead us on while having another villain in mind. I was kind of hoping for the latter as the prior was almost too clear cut. I won't spoil who it ends up being though. I felt like the suspense was fairly mild until almost the end when things get really intense. The romance was super sweet. I liked how it played out although I would have enjoyed a little more chemistry. The ending was great in both the suspense and romance department!

On a side note, we lived in the town this story is set in for a year and it was rather fun to read and relate to that aspect of this story and know what the author was talking about.

In the end, was it what I wished for? I enjoyed reading this story. It had some areas I would have liked developed more, but otherwise it delivered some sweet romance and climatic suspense.

Content: Some violence that fit the book and genre - still clean.
Source: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, which did not require a positive review nor affect it in any way.

I'm such a huge fan of author Traci Hunter Abramson. She has written such great books. This book is one I really loved! I started reading it and was only going to read a few chapters. Several hours later I was more than half way done. I just could not stop reading. The story is not only riveting, but the characters jump off the pages and you get pulled in from the first chapter. Main characters Tia and Evan meet at their friend's wedding. They immediately hit it off. I could feel their connection and loved them getting together.

The other main character Coby Farren, the new deputy in town wanted Tia from the first meeting. He bothered me right from the start. There are many disgusting and creepy things that start happening. I don't want to give it all away, but my stomach turned at the weird and terrifying things that happen to Tia. The last 1/4 of the book is where I couldn't hold still because I was so on edge. This is truly one of those heart pounding endings that you don't want to read at night when your by yourself...like I did! I never learn.

This stand alone book is an amazing thriller, clean, and chock full of tension. I highly recommend it to readers that love mystery, suspense, and romance. Traci Hunter Abramson always delivers a great story.

Let's be real, I'm probably never not going to like one of these books because I have pretty simple expectations. I want a little romance, a little suspense, an easy read, and something not too long and not too short. This fits the bill.

MY TAKE
This is a little hard to read. When the bad stuff starts happening for real, it's creepy. *shudders*

Another on-the-edge-of-your seat story with a satisfying conclusion and a swoony love story.

Suspense, Romance, clean
This was a fun read! The kidnapper, the romance, the clues and how authorities found Tia was an intense, suspenseful read, with a heartfelt romance. While the romance wasn't the main part of the novel, it still gave it a human, honest setting that was a nice foil for the kidnapper's character. Tia was a determined, resourceful, talented and a loyal friend. Her heart showed in her work at her school with her athletes, her fun-loving friendships, and her sense of fun. Evan with his talent in cyber security was a perfect hero for this novel. Loved the setting in AZ contrasting it with the Detroit winters, it was a perfect complication to their relationship, along with the communication issues. The final scenes so perfectly came together with a sense of intensity, and urgency. Loved this read!
Anyone who enjoys mystery and suspense would enjoy this read! Some clever twists and turns as this novel unwrapped and wove to it's conclusion.

Great story! Even though you can see early on what is happening the suspense builds as you wait to see the resolution.. There is some pretty sappy romance in the story, which I admit I liked, but the underlying character development was wonderful. Be prepared to allow time to finish when you get about 2/3 of the way through because it is VERY hard to put down through the end.

Proximity is not my first Traci Hunter Abramson novel. Since I have been reading her novels for years now I have come to expect certain things from each of her books. I expect each book to have a unique story, great character development, at least a little romance, and some suspense. Proximity delivered on all of my expectations.

Proximity starts with a little introduction to Colby. Colby is the newest police officer in the small town of Cottonwood, Arizona. In the first chapter of the book, we are introduced to him as he is leaving Alaska, we don't really learn a lot about him until a little later in the book.

The main character in this book is Tia. It's easy to love Tia, she is always late, plays baseball with the local police force and is loved by everyone in her small town.

Evan, Tia's love interest is quickly introduced to the book in a situation that is sure to have you smiling. Tia and Evan immediately like each other and decide to try and overcome the obstacle of a long distance relationship. Little do they know just how long distance this relationship might end up being, or the challenges Colby will throw in their path.

The story of Tia, Evan, and Colby will keep you wondering as you work through the twists and turns of the plot. How is it all going to work out? You will have to read and find out, the plot really is good.

Though this wasn't my favorite Traci Hunter Abramson novel, it was still a good read with some unexpected plot twists.

wow - what a story - a deranged stalker, Colby, moves to AZ from AK - gets a job on the police force of a small town, Cottonwood - in that small town is Tia, brides maid and athletic trainer for the high school sports program, meets a really nice guy named Evan, best man, at their friends wedding - they hit it off by the stalker falls for Tia without her realizing it and he conjures up a relationship between the two of them in his mind. At the same time, Tia and Evan are building their relationship, solid; even though he works in Paris - but they work out their long distance relationship and things are moving along nicely. This agitates Colby because Tia is gone a lot, either to the mountains at a friends cabin or Paris visiting Evan or Michigan visiting his parents - all along Colby is creating a plot to take Tia away and make her love him. So he kidnaps her and the story intensifies as the police and FBI get involved in finding Tia. There are quite a few more tidbits of detail in the story line that I don't want to give away - but this is great and easy listening. I love stories Traci's stories - they are clean and even though there is violence it is minimally explained - I also love that her stories are taken from actual cases or experiences that she is aware of. Love this story and highly recommend it.

Author, Traci Hunter Abramson, did not disappoint me in yet, another great suspense/thriller!
In this novel, Tia Parker is a young woman who always seems to have a poor judgement of character when it comes to men! This last relationship, she even had a brief marriage to him!
Attractive celebrity Colby Farren is the Best Man at her best friend's wedding. Since she is the maid of Honor, their paths frequently cross. The last thing she needs is to entertain the idea of any type of romance with a celebrity!
While she battles her feeling between the two men occupying her mind, bizarre situations begin to occur which escalates to danger for her.
The characters feel so real, and the reader can easily picture himself/herself within each scene.
The Book Title and Cover are "fitting" & eye-catching.
This is more predictable than many of Traci's books, but us so well written with enough twists and mystery, that it is still a very entertaining tale.
This book is about an Latter Day Saint woman and has religious references.

Proximity by Traci HunterAbramson is another sweet suspense thriller which kept me turning pages. I had to finish within hours of starting the book. Tia Parker meets Evan Spence at her friend's wedding. and they seem to be an unlikely match. Tia lives in Cottonwood, a community close to Sedona, AZ and Evan lives in Detroit, MI but travels a lot for his company. They enjoy their time together and texting when Even has to leave Arizona. Evan's phone is damaged during his flight home and he is off for Paris within hours due to an emergency with his job before being able to contact Tia. Weeks go by and Tia does not hear from Evan, so she decides he is a flake and she moves along with her busy life. A new policeman moves to town and is attracted to Tia. Colby Farren has transferred from Alaska due to job cuts and finds life in Arizona to be very different. If he can gain the trust and attention of Tia, then all will be right in his world. The problems have just begun for Tia. I won't post spoilers, but the romance between Tia and Evan is wonderful, but the stalking of Tia by Colby is shattering!

It was nice to change up my typical genre a bit for Traci Hunter Abramson's latest suspense novel, Proximity. The cover is perfect, and would definitely catch my attention in a bookstore or library.

While I had some misgivings about one of the characters, I wasn't convinced everyone had been introduced for quite a bit of the story. It was nice being kept on my toes. Abramson did a good job of creating a creepy bad guy.

I like the way Abramson intertwined the romance with the suspense. Neither aspect was overpowering, but both felt like pretty realistic situations with natural timing.

Tia and Evan seemed great for each other, and I liked Tia overall. Her connection to the community and as well as her inability to be on time made her endearing. The way their mutual friends got them to the wedding festivities on time was a fun way for them to connect.

There is some violence, but I didn't feel that it was overly graphic. While this wouldn't be my go-to suspense novel, I felt like it was worth the read.

This book was overall really good. I love how the book starts out happy and she finds love, before the problem starts happening it really shows how real life is sometimes life is really good at points and it can also get bad, but we just need to hang on to those good things and it will get us through the bad things in life. The story line of this book is really good and it draws you more into the story as you go. There was never a time where I wasn’t on the edge of my seat. This book was very hard to put down. This book displays a sense of we don’t know who everyone is on the inside and it’s very important to get to know them before making a judgment, an example of that in the book is with the characters Tia and Colby, Tia doesn’t get to know colby and it ends badly. I love how the author shows the characters personalities like with Tia always being late, every character in the book knows her as that person. That lateness ends up bringing her and Evan together which was just so cool to see that. This book was so good!

While I enjoyed this book and still give it four stars, I like this less than Abramson’s other work. Maybe because it’s her second time in the “man obsessively stalks a woman” vein, and I think she did it better in Obsession. I didn’t dislike the book; I like the protagonists and the way their relationship develops. I love that we got to see Charlie Whitmore and Kendra Blake. (Even though this is a complete stand-alone, it’s always good to see friends from other books.) Colby was set up to be the villain pretty quickly, and lived up to those expectations.

Possible objectionable material:
Perilous situations. Quick romance. Kissing. Stalking.

Who might like this book:
If you like romantic suspense, this is the book for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the eARC, which was provided in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

This book was soo long. I felt like it took forever to get through, and all the action happened in the very last part of the book. That being said, the characters were creepy. One person in particular had me freaked out. He went into a woman's room in the middle of the night and just stared at her sleeping, and then later he kidnapped her. Evan and Tia's relationship in this book just wasn't realistic to me at all, and you could pretty much tell what was going to happen the instant you opened the book. I think this book was supposed to be kind of mystery-ish, but it wasn't at all. You could tell from the very beginning pretty much the whole plot, which characters were the bad guys, and how the story was going to end. This was DEFINITELY not my favorite of her books, and I think I am going to take a break from her books for a while.

Traci Hunter Abramson is at the top of her game with this latest suspense/romance novel. You can see the trouble coming from the first page, and yet the suspense builds and the twists and turns take place and you can still see the trouble coming and things just get worse and worse (and better and better). I had trouble putting it down and stayed up way too late to get to the end. The characters are great, with brief cameo appearances by Kendra Blake and Charles Whitmore from Abramson's earlier novels. While the main characters are not LDS as in some of Abramson's earlier books, the book is certainly suitable for LDS readers. I love this author's work.

A good suspense story, that has a lot of buildup, so it doesn't really feel like a suspense novel until near the end when all the suspense starts to happen. But the story does leave clues as you read along, as to who the perp is. The suspense part is really well done. The author knows her subject matter, so the story is believable. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the protagonist drives a truck, but there are multiple times throughout the story that her car is referred to. She doesn't drive a car, so that's annoying. I don't get how the author or her editor missed that, because it's multiple times. But that mostly-minor error is forgivable.

I was intrigued by the picture. She wrote it really well to make both men seem really great. I knew right away who it was probably cause I'm an author and have studied how to put in hints. I also have read a couple other non-fiction to help recognize certain things. Even though I personally found it predictable it was still entertaining, which is how I read it. I did like the ingenuity Tia had. I also found it very creepy to have the main character as my name, not spelled my way but pronounced my way. It brought back some personal bad memories, yet held onto myself. Good job.

So I’ve been a long time fan of this author so I’m probably a bit biased, however, she is the BEST storyteller. It’s easy to figure out the bad guy and it’s pretty predictable, but she weaves everything so well that I was hooked from the beginning. I loved how she made a relationship work at being together even through difficult circumstances. Seeing Charlie and Kendra again was like catching up with old friends. A sweet gentle romance with a super creepiness that had me lecturing her many times! Another great read from one of my all time favorites.

Probably my least favorite THA book. I LOVE her writing so it was surprising that this one seemed to drag a bit for me. It is still worth the read and an enjoyable book, but it was one that I put down a couple times and was like, “Oh yeah, have that book to finish reading”. To be fair I have INHALED all of her other books and had the vague feeling I had listened to this one before, so maybe that was why it felt slow to me. But, her characters overlap (which I love!) so maybe that’s why the story felt familiar.

Tracy has written a sick and uncomfortable suspense novel here. Situations like this do exist in the world. It is very uncomfortable to listen to. The only thing I thought listening is oftentimes control is created via physical and sexual abuse which this book avoided, but for obvious reasons. Nonetheless that did not detract from the story itself or this read. If stalking is not a trigger for you then I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy suspenseful mystery and a little discomfort.

Tia and Evan seem to have found something good, only they live too far apart to make a relationship seem workable. When Evan doesn’t respond to Tia’s texts, she decides that maybe they aren’t meant for each other after all. Meanwhile, a handsome new police officer comes to town, Tia recognizes that they seem to bump into each other a lot. Others notice his marked interest as well. If she could just get Evan off of her mind…

This crime thriller will keep readers turning pages and biting their nails.

This was a great read. Tia was so fun and I loved her relationship with Evan. I was sad when distance seemed to be in the way. Then with Colby, I could tell something was off but couldn't figure out exactly what and why until the end. It is a fantastic read full of suspense and romance. It is a perfect read for anyone who loves a good suspense novel.
