It's been a while since I read a Bliss short and this is another good one. It made a nice change to read a story where both leads are in their fifties. Detective Angela Hill hasn't had contact with Jackie in twenty years but seeing her again brings back all the memories of their one night. Sounds a little insta-love-y but it's not. I haven't been disappointed a Bliss book yet.

I don’t really have much to say about this. As a novella, it’s obviously a quick/short read, but pretty much everything about it is written in the synopsis. If you like Harper Bliss, you’ll probably appreciate this well enough, but nothing particularly noteworthy happens. I don’t feel compelled to write anything spectacular about it nor am I’m particularly moved in any direction. It’s not often I’m left feeling ‘meh’ about Bliss’s work, but if I were leaving a one word review, that would be my word, ‘meh.’

3 Stars for a novella.
The two main characters, Angela, is a cop on medical leave after getting injured on the job and Jackie is a Psychologist. The met briefly 20 yrs ago when Angela was a rookie and Jackie was giving a seminar for policemen. We are told they had an intense, albeit a one night stand that neither forgot nor got over.
The pluses - The are both over 50, Jackie is 58, Angela I would calculate early 50s. It sounds like this is a start of a new series by Bliss of over 50 MCs. Both characters are likable.
Otherwise this is just OK, well written Harper Bliss novella. Pleasant enough but not enough for me to read again. I am looking forward to more in this series.

I enjoyed it!

I'm not one for love/romance stories with the MCs in their golden years. I'm immature like that I know. Regardless, I really did like this story and honestly wish it was a full blown novel.

Second chance romance between Detective Angela Hill and Dr. Jackie Smith.

Lightning doesn't strike twice, except in lesfic land. Straight, married, a dedicated mother and police shrink, Jackie Cooper loved and lost Officer Hill twenty years ago. Things change over time, like a woman's marital status and their children grow into adulthood. Feelings long buried can resurface given half a chance and desire can obliterate years of pain.

No Greater Love than Mine kicks off the Silver Lining series by settling the past, heating up the present and whispering about the future. Two older women find that love can be postponed, but not denied. A worthwhile beginning to a mature love story.

I really enjoyed every word of this novella because it features mature women who have so much love to give. This story has an angst filled beginning that will keep you wondering whether or not Angela and Jackie could ever address the issues of the past and move on or will they let the pain of years gone by destroy their future happiness. I adore stories that have women in uniform as the main characters and the author combined all of my favorite themes into this delightful story.

Short and sweet, two women reconnect after 20 years. Jackie was married and chose her son after a one-night stand with Angela. They never forgot each other, but for Angela it’s a painful episode in her life. The novella starts out with plenty of anger and angst so we don’t know what will happen after they meet up again. Can they find love with each other? I enjoyed this novella, and that the characters were mature women.

Our two MCs are over 50 and I very much love that fact. Also a policewoman which I adore! I can honestly say that there has never been a Harper Bliss book that I didn’t enjoy and this novella is no different. The only problem I ever have with her work is that I always want more! It’s like only having 1 Pringle “Once you pop you can’t stop!”😆 Or trying to eat only 1 Hershey kiss it’s just not feasible. I was given an arc.

I have yet to read a book by Harper Bliss that I haven’t liked and this Novella is no exception. No Greater Love then Mine, is well worth the read, a second chance romance, what’s not to love. This novella has it all, angst, forgiveness and ultimately love. I also enjoyed the alternating POV, so you really understood all the feelings of both characters.

The story is told in the first person, shifting between Angela and Jackie’s perspectives. Given that it’s a novella, this worked really well for ensuring we understand both women’s perspectives as they’re confronted with their past. Angela and Jackie are developed well, and I especially appreciated that as women in their 50s, they had different concerns than the much younger women we usually see in lesbian romance.

Harper Bliss and yet another delish mature romance dish served ever-so organically appetising that it's a tragedy that it's only a novella!!!! Alas! Just when the taste gets increasingly addicting that readers such as yours truly are bound to want more, Bliss just ends!!! NOOOOO!!! K was gutted when I reached the last page and wished I could swipe more!!! Ohhh... .what a pisser! I absolutely love all the characters! Angela and Jackie ooze this undeniably sizzling chemistry the moment they set eyes on each other, thanks to Bliss' inmate gift in writing the unspoken nuances of the human behaviour ever so subtly yet deeply resonating and affecting. The words just tug at one's heartstrings? Ugh!

Sp here's my shameless plea to Bliss - PLEASE reward this sensational story about Angela and Jackie and their incredible serendipitous journey spanning to a second chance love, true love...with a full- length novel. Please, FFS! Have mercy.

Thank you!!

Meanwhile, READ it! Don't let the age deter you becuz age is just a number. The incredible journey of love, loss, and second chance that Bliss has deftly woven, yet again, makes you forget and realise that love is love. Her romance is as sexy, complex, dramatic and erotic, as usual.

I am always thrilled when there’s a new book from Harper Bliss, it is guarantee of a great read and this novella wasn’t the exception. It is short but very intense, with a lot of emotions, a beautiful story, appealing characters and of course lovely sexy times.

We get to know Angela Hill who is a detective and Jackie Smith who is a Psychologist, twenty years ago they shared something special but forbidden leaving Angela heartbroken and both empty. Because of an injury they are somehow reunited, will they be able to come to terms and leave the past behind to give place a second chance at love?

It’s a very engaging story with so much happening, we get to know the story behind and all what happened in between those twenty years, they are very endearing characters, there’s some angst, a lot of love, forgiveness, great chemistry between them and character development. Also I like the fact that they are mature women. I enjoyed very much this second chance romance, reminds us that is never late for love and I am definitely looking forward for the next to come in this series.

Page Turner!

Harper Bliss delivers another great storyline, that once again captivated my attention from the start. Usually I try to avoid short stories, just because sometimes it feels rushed, the characters and the storline is unbelievable. But with No Greater Love Than Mine, Harper allows us to get a feel for both characters, and provides us with a backstory before the drama itself unfolds.

No Greater Love Than Mine, tells the story of Detective Angela Hill, and police therapist Jackie Smith. Both women started a short lived affair years prior, whilst Angela was undergoing police training. Circumstances have brought them back together again, with Jackie as Angela's therapist. Although time has passed, both women now in their 50's have a shot at love once again, if they are willing to conquer their fears, and open their hearts once again.

I loved reading No Greater Love Than Mine, and would love for their to be a sequel. Can not recommend this book enough.

Happy Reading =]

Great little short story

4 stars. I love Harper Bliss and this little short story did not disappoint. I always wish short stories are longer with more detail about their past affairs, but it was still good. This story was about Jackie, a councilor who has a one night affair with Angela, a cop. They share one night 20 years ago and then Jackie breaks it off for her son and they don’t see each other again until Angela gets shot and Jackie’s the councilor she has to see. They both don’t know how to act towards one another and things progress now that Jackie is divorced.

This was a good short read. This is what I expect and love from Harper Bliss, I gave it four stars instead of five because I do wish it was longer and had more details of their past affair 20 years ago. Still a good story.

When Angela, a police detective, is wounded on the job, she is required to attend mental health therapy appointments to deal with PTSD. But the therapist she expects has been suspended and his temporary replacement is Jackie, a woman that Angela slept with 20 years ago, but who walked away from their intense connection to go back to her husband and son.

Now with both women in their 50s, Jackie is divorced, her son is grown and she's dating men and women. Angela has given up on relationships.

This is a novella, and as such, it's focused on the second chance that these characters get. I wish there had been more description of their initial attraction and connection in order to better understand how it could last 20 years. Otherwise it's a decent read.

Time holds all the love we won't let our heart feel.

Jackie and Angela had one encounter, one moment of pure joyous connection. Jackie was not ready to be with Angela forever and broke her heart. 20 years later, an awful moment brings them together again. Jackie has to break the walls down she helped build. The spark that never left either heart finds the silver lining of this life.
These two strong women had their hearts on hold, real courage to forgive and love again is hard to reach. Harper Bliss has a way of making every emotion jump off the page and warm so many parts of th e reader. I felt the desire, the love and the pure connection even 20 years could not erase in this beautiful second chance for love.

Look, I love stories about older women. I consistently am messing with my subscription TV algorithms, by watching shows and films that prominently feature older women. But this didn't do it for me. First, I felt like the ages were just tossed onto two generic characters. Btw, was one of the MCs a woman of color? I felt like she was, but wasn't sure, and I would have preferred that it was said outright, so that it could be fully embraced and celebrated. Second, I get that this is a novella, but it was disjointed, and felt like story had actually been hacked out of a full-length novel, so that it could be presented in novella form. Lots of holes. Ugh, wont' be revisiting the series.

What can I say! This is Harper at her best. Absolutely fantastic read from start to finish. I loved that it was an older couple as the main characters (this being my first). You could feel the connection with the two main characters (Jackie & Angela) straight away. Loved the storyline. Loved the book that much I have already read it twice. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

Highly recommended!

Loved It! Definitely 5 stars here.

This was just so good to read!! I immediately liked Angela and I just felt her broken heart because nothing sucks more than just that, a broken heart. And to come face to face with the cause of the broken heart is just ugh . I loved that these two women were older and not younger. Makes me believe that it's never too late to find the real thing.
Harper is the best!!!

Cute

This was a cute little romance. Angela and Jackie met at a time when Jackie couldn't really commit. That didn't stop the memories of longing between the two. To meet again and not give it a second try would be questionable to say the least. Read to see what happens. Enjoy...

Second Chance Romance

This was a novella that focused on a second chance romance between two fifty-something characters, Angela and Jackie. For being a novella the character development was solid and also included Jackie's son Carl and his fiancé, Beau. I can't wait for more additions to the Silver Linings series.

Good story

This the 20th book by Harper bliss that I have read. Everyone of her books keeps me glued to the book from start to finish. This story had a special meaning as my partner was also a police officer. I look forward to reading more by Harper. All her story lines have been an adventure to behold. Such a talented author of topics not normally treated with finesse.

Breathtaking!

This is a very well written story about getting a second chance with the love of your life, albeit twenty years later. It's wonderful to find a love story featuring older women, especially when the characters as well developed as they are in this book. This is one for your must read list.

very good book

Very good book doesn’t seem to cut it. I have never read a Harper Bliss book I didn’t like. We all make mistakes in our life. Walking away from a love because it’s the right thing to do seems to be something many women of a certain age have done. But to get a second chance..... rare and too good to pass up.
