DNF - quit at 47%.
Holy mackerel, the first book had a lot of issues, but held my attention enough to want to at least go on to book two especially because of the cliff-hanger ending. This book (2) moved so slowly, I found myself watching Food network on TV instead of reading. I got totally bored & lost interest in what happens to the 4 main characters. To be honest, I didn’t like Red or Tristan at all, even in book 1. Sam & Dante had moments that made them ok, but not good enough to hold the story in book 2. To be honest, character development is shallow, which doesn’t help me like any of them enough to want to read about them. Authors need to quit putting @ssholes as main characters. I don’t see a correlation for a woman to fall for an @sshole, there’s nothing that can convince me of that. It makes the relationship feel fake or forced, not believable at all, even with a “mate bond” for paranormal types. There is so much inner pack drama with all the wolves (& all the supernaturals) in this book, it left a sour taste in my mouth about this story being able to resolve itself without the whole town imploding from the war that’s brewing. Definitely not a fan of the series, & I’m wishing I hadn’t wasted my time reading book 1 & part of 2 now.
At my age, life is to short & my time to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
