Welcome to Twirled World Ink where the crazies run the asylum.
Model perfect Jimmy “Trouble” Carver had never heard the word no. Tattooed, sexy and the quintessential bad boy Trouble had men falling over themselves to get to him. What people didn’t know about him was he was self-conscious even if life was easy for him. He’d started out as an apprentice at Twirled World Ink after college and never looked back. Trouble was exactly where he wanted to be, although there was one speed bump, his crush refused to go out on a date.
Brody Vaughn worked in a dead-end job, barely making it from paycheck to paycheck. He didn’t have much time for anyone other than his five-year-old daughter Mina and besides he’d never quite found a place in this world he fit. Chunky and average, that's how he felt, except for when Trouble came into the grocery store where he worked. The flirty, gorgeous man asked him out every week with a sexy smile, but Brody had to refuse. It wasn’t as if he wanted to say no, it was just how could he date a man Brody knew he had no business trying to keep.
The Crazies of Twirled World Ink excel at one thing, matchmaking, and they are determined their resident bad boy would get his man. They just had to make sure that neither Trouble or Brody screwed up their plan.
Author's Note: Although this is part of a series each book is a stand alone and every book deals with a separate couple.

USA Today Bestselling author J.M. Dabney is a multi-genre published writer of Body and Fat Positive Romance & Fiction. They live with a constant diverse cast of diverse characters in their head. They live for one purpose alone, and that’s to make sure everyone gets the happily ever after they deserve. There is nothing more they want from telling their stories than to show that no matter the package the characters come in or the damage their pasts have done, that love is love. That normal is never normal and sometimes the so-called broken can still be beautiful.
The author is Non-Binary and uses the pronouns They/Them.
This is one of my go-to series when I can't find anything to read. It's simple but good.
Reread October 2017
Poor Trouble...he gets me every time.
May 2017
Decided a reread was in order. I just love this series. I really loved these two even more the second go round.
Originally read February 2017
These two were so sweet and perfect together. I love this whole crew. Trouble broke my heart several times. His family needed to die! They were awful. But Brody was there to lift him up along with his true family. And little Mina was just too awesome. I love kids in romance and she just fit right in. And when she called Trouble Papa I just melted into a puddle of goo!
Part of me wants to rate this story (and series) higher. I actually really liked the plot, the characters, and (hallelujah!) the communication between all.
But.
But...it's poorly edited and proofed, and there were time jumps, which made for an, at times, frustrating read.
If you're the type of reader who can ignore typos, grammatical errors, wrong punctuation, and misused words then I would not hesitate to recommend this book and series.
Dabney offers a fresh voice, the series (so far) has a likable cast, some hot sexy times, and (my personal favorite) communication between partners.
Although this is the second book in the series each book is a standalone featuring a different couple.
Okay! Book two of J.M. Dabney's Twirled World series was even better than the first! We met Trouble in book one. He was a secondary character in Zerk and Landon's love story. Well, now it's his turn to get his fairy tale.
For these guys happy isn't really a word they use while hopping through a field of flowers. No. These are rough, tough, gritty guys. They are not your run of the mill romance heroes. However, Trouble is pretty much model perfect, inside he's all sorts of messed up.
In book one you remember them mentioning that Trouble kept asking out this guy who works at a grocery store and the guy always telling him no. I couldn't fathom it personally. But in this one we meet the store clerk, Brody, and we find out all the reasons behind all the no's. And it comes in the body of a little girl named Mina.
You'll fall in love with that girl and she'll have you wrapped around her little finger just like she has all the guys! Thing is Brody doesn't think he's anything to write home about. He thinks he's average looking, sort of on the marshmellow-y side and he thinks Trouble is way out of his league. Trouble thinks Brody and Mina are way out of his league. I enjoyed watching them prove each other wrong.
Trouble's family is quite possible the worst family in all the world. I wanted to jump into the book and beat the ever loving snot out of each of them. But one thing this book and this series shows us is that family is chosen not made.
All the secondary characters are amazing in this series. You see old and new and they all just fit in perfectly. This book is more emotional than the first and you can't help but fall hard for Trouble and want to put him in your pocket and forever protect him.
Okay, let’s talk Trouble and Brody - because holy heck, these two? Fire. I mean, their chemistry was so strong, it was like watching two magnets finally click together. The tension? Electric. The banter? 10/10. Honestly, I was so ready for their relationship to hit all the high notes, but here’s the thing: just when I was like, Yes! I’m in! - the book basically pulled the rug out from under me. Like, can we please have a little more time to savor these moments? It’s like being handed a big ol' slice of cake and then, just as you’re about to take a bite, someone snatches it away. Classic.
Now, pacing. Oh boy. The first book, yeah, that one was a race to the finish line, but at least this time, the book didn’t feel like it was being chased by a fire-breathing dragon. So, major points there. But let’s be real - there were moments when I was like, slow down, honey, let’s unpack this a little. Like, yes, their connection is amazing and the sparks between them are real, but can we maybe stop and smell the roses for a second? We needed a little more time in the slow burn department, because the way they were rushing through their feels left me like, Are we getting the real goods here or are we skipping to the next chapter of drama?
The relationship was adorable though. I mean, I can’t deny it. Watching Trouble and Brody go from “Hey, what’s up” to “Okay, we’re officially obsessed with each other” was cute enough to give me serious heart-eye emojis. But let’s be real - this could have been so much more. There were little bits here and there that felt like a missed opportunity for real growth. Like, yeah, I got invested, but I was still asking myself, What’s holding us back from taking this to the next level?
All that being said, it was still a solid read. A sweet, fun, feel-good kind of book that you devour in one sitting and end up thinking about for a couple of hours afterward. So yeah, I’m not mad at it. I liked it, but I didn’t love it, you know? It gave me all the right vibes, but it just didn’t give me enough of them to make me feel like I got the full experience. Like, I was there, but I wasn’t completely there. You know?
But here's the kicker: despite it being a little too fast-paced and leaving me craving more of the deeper stuff, I still find myself rooting for Trouble and Brody. So if the next book takes the time to slow things down and really let them build, oh boy, that one could be a game-changer. This one had its moments, but it left me wanting more, and isn’t that what you want in a series? More? Because I’m definitely coming back for the next round.
Trouble is book 2 in the Twirled World Ink series and introduces Brody and his precocious daughter to one of my favourite set of guys.
Jimmy Carver or Trouble as he goes by at Twirled Ink has gotten a long way with his looks in the past and relies on them to get him everything he wants. It usually works well for him but the cute server at the local grocery store has been turning him down for almost a year and Trouble doesn’t really know what to do with that. For someone who seems to breeze through life his reality is very different.
Brody has had it tough. Left to bring his young daughter Mina up almost by himself whilst forgetting his college dreams and working every available hour just to survive has been hard and the walls he has put up around his heart are there to stay. The pretty guy that keeps flirting with him makes him secretly smile but he has no intention of changing his mind and giving him a chance. Mina is the only one that matters.
I’m not usually one for a storyline revolving around a child but let me tell you Mina will win your heart from the start. When she meets the rest of the Twirled Ink gang she wins their hearts too and it goes a long way to making Brody feel comfortable about finally saying yes and offering just a small part of himself to Trouble. Again not too much angst in this one although Trouble’s family were pretty awful – his mother in particular. This proved to me another hit with me and once again these guys left me with a smile on my face. As with the first book there are a myriad of editing problems but I have not let them reflect in my overall rating.
In book two, we get more of the tattoo artists we met in book one. This time, Trouble aka Jimmy, who has a pretty low self-esteem despite his model looks.
He has a crush on Brody, the soft clerk at the grocery store with a daughter. Brody doesn’t believe a guy like Trouble could be interested in him AND he’s wary of any entanglements that might hurt his daughter, so he continues to say “no”.
Eventually, Trouble wears Brody down and from then on it’s fairly smooth sailing.
We get some OTT drama with Trouble’s family (this was a little cartoonish, they’re SO horrible with no logical reason to be so) but it serves to make the couple closer, so, it works.
The grammar is still atrocious in this book. One word kept popping up for me and that is passed for past – but that’s easy to overlook if you enjoy these two sweet guys finding love with one another.
Most importantly, I believe these books need to be read in order, because this book totally sets the scene for the next book which looks DELICIOUS! (mute guy, tough guy, buttoned-up guy ménage!)
I’ve really been enjoying this series and I look forward to the next one eagerly (we have to wait til February for book 4 dammit!) and I recommend the series.
This book definitely had potential, but it honestly needed a LOT more development. It had way too many supporting characters that may or may not have been future couples, patchy dialogue that was hard to follow with little indication as to who was speaking, and a story that had odd pacing every other page/chapter.
This series is the freaking best ever! I am totally in love with everyone of these guys! Even weirdo Lucky lol. And I'm loving the Brawlers crew that get more introduced in this book. I was so sad for Trouble because he's been trying so hard to get Brody to date him but Brody keeps saying no. And this is their story. Trouble is feeling low. He's not used to being told no, but even if he was by someone else, it would have bothered him as much as Brody telling him no. He tried to move on but he couldn't. It wasn't until Brody's little girl, Mina, broke the ice that Brody finally said yes. And immediately she had a whole new set of uncles. Immediately. Everyone of those gruff men feel for that little girl. Even gruff ole Scary. But Brody was nervous. After his own past with his ex wife, he was a little tentative to get back on that horse. Plus with working full time and Mina, he didn't have time. But with Trouble, he didn't care if he was with Mina or they were alone. He loved having Mina with them just as much. And little by little, they started becoming a little family. With a huge one encircling in. Until Trouble's family started making waves. Trouble was always hated, he knew that. By why couldn't they just leave him alone? When his mother started her usual threats, Trouble knew he would lose Brody and that precious princess. But Brody surprised him and stuck with it. But the threats got worse to the point of involving Mina and Trouble thinks maybe it's time for him to bow out. I really need a way to throat punch people in a book. For real. We need to make that possible. I hate Trouble's parents. And the fall that bitch of his mother tried to do. They way they degraded him constantly. All for being born. Wasn't like he asked to be. Thank goodness for his true family. The Brawlers and Twirled Ink crew. And now Brody and Mina. I get why Brody was scared. When you feel like someone gorgeous looks at you and all you feel is fat and dumpy, it's terrifying. All you can think is why do they like me? Is this a joke being played on him? But as he got to know Trouble and the crew, he learned Trouble really did care. He adored Brody for who he was. A little fluff and all. He didn't care about that. He just wanted love from someone. Someone who would love him, tats, piercings, flaws and all. And Brody needed someone to make him feel like he was worthy and gorgeous. And Trouble did that. They are perfect for each other. They bring out in each other what no one else could do. And it was perfect. Well, as perfect as could be with the Twirled crew lol. http://lovebytesreviews.com/
Trouble is gorgeous.... gorgeous but with low self-esteem brought on by his terrible family... and y'all, they're terrible... you're not gonna like them at all. Luckily, he's found a family with the guys from the shop... AND, a crush that he's had for the last year... Brody... not adding to that though, the last year, Brody's been turning him down... Once Trouble meets Brody's daughter, Mina, although affectionately nicknamed "Princess"... he understands why.
Brody had his daughter MIna and his brother Elijah and that's it. His ex wife left them and his brother raised him, so they're the only two people he has in the world. THat is, until Trouble and his slew of biker family. I have to say, I absolutely adored the way all the guys took up with Mina. They were all adorable!! Especially her bond with Scary <3 I can't wait to read about Scary and hopefully Elijah. I'm such a sucker for hot guys that are good with kids and this one just checked all my boxes.
Such a great addition to an already great series. There were several problems with editing and I'm pretty sure this author is allergic to question marks, but if you can look over all that, and i can... the story is just so cute and I loved every second of it!
For the love of all that's holy, I just can't give higher than a 3 star rating because I just can't believe these are being published with the massive amount of errors. Seriously, any child older than maybe 3rd grade could fix these books. I absolutely love these guys which would mean something's being done right but it's so frustrating mentally editing the entire time.
I like the story, and, even with the large cast of supporting characters, I don't get lost because they all have very distinct personalities. The characters are really what kept me reading the first and second book, because while I liked the story, the author desperately needs to learn basic writing rules like punctuation and capitalization rules with dialogue, and general sentence structure and comma rules so the sentences flow properly. I could overlook it, for the sake of the quirky characters I liked, but it really detracted from the professionalism I expect from a published work. That brings this down to a 2.5 rounded up to a 3 stars.
I gotta say. Troubles “Bio” family are total A-Holes. Trouble has a Crush on Brody. Brody keeps turning down offers for dates. Brody just isn’t sure he should get involved with someone who might not stick around. Since he has his daughter to think of as well. Trouble just wants someone to love him. Cute book. And I Love the Twirled / Brawler Family.
Brody and Trouble meet and fall in love , if only it was this easy . Trouble comes from a rich family who has made his life a living hell . Brody was raised by his brother and has a little girl who melts heart of every one . The two because friends and family .
I like this series a lot and the characters are all interesting and broken in some way. Strong romances make this series a keeper for me, but the editing is not good. It won't keep me from reading them. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Enjoyed this one more.. the fucking editing still blew my mind!! I think it may have been worse in this book.. but gosh darn it I really liked these guys and that little girl stole my heart!

This story was better than the first one. It managed to bring out several different emotions in me throughout the reading.
I had a stronger connection with the character who was represented on the cover of the book, and not because of his appearance per se, but because he gave the character a face, which allowed me to create the bond that I like so much. I can't say the same about the other character, besides knowing that he is short, overweight, sometimes has dark eyes and other times blue, white, and slightly wavy hair. Well, his features were not presented. I tried to imagine, but it is difficult when at one moment the author says one thing and at another he says another.
As I said before, I managed to create a bond with one of the characters and this allowed me to feel his emotions, which were well presented, which allowed me to feel emotional in his moments of sadness and suffering. It was nothing too intense, there was no anguish, but Trouble's emotions were presented in such a sensitive and truthful way that I was moved in some of those moments. Just like laughing at other times. I didn't feel the same way about Brody, not only because I don't connect with him, but also because I find his actions and reasons more superficial. And it's not that I don't agree with him wanting to protect his daughter from possible disappointments with separations if he got involved with someone, it's just that it didn't ring true to me.
The book needs a spelling review and developmental editing (even though it's been out for so long, it's still worth doing it in the next editions that are released). In the first book, there were already some contradictions in the characters' speeches and I overlooked them because it was the first, but this one was more complicated.
I already said in the previous book that Gib and Peache should have more participation, and I still think the same about this one. They were included here, but I found it so forced and artificial. That's a no. It could have been more about their day-to-day lives in the store, in their homes and then evolved into something more radical and not Peache, showing up to save the day for no reason at all. It didn't work.
Lucky. I hope with all my heart that I like him when I get to his book, because for now his appearances only serve to irritate me and make me want to stop reading. I've developed a dislike for him. His lines are confusing and uninteresting.
Another thing that's gotten to me is the characters' habit of interrupting each other's lines, especially in confusing dialogues or in the middle of jokes that no one understands.
This book has a lot of conversations about sex between several of the characters, but the act of penetration itself only happens once. Their first time is not described. This author is confusing.
Trouble comes from a rich family, possibly sociopaths, definitely narcissists. He's been mistreated and humiliated his whole life and created a life for himself at the store and with his friends at Twirled World Ink, where he hides his other life with his family. He's the kind of bad boy heartthrob that everyone wants to get with, but in truth he's so sweet. Brody, a single father, divorced from a drug addict and the brother of the town mayor, is proud, prejudiced, and boring. After much insistence from Troble, Brody accepts his advances. The narcissistic mother appears and tries to ruin everything and the rest is Lucky, being unbearable.
Overall, I liked the book, more than the first one. I hope it evolves throughout the series.
I enjoyed this book. I thought Brody and Trouble were great together. Brody has been a single father to his 5 year old daughter for years with help from his older brother/father figure Elijah who also happens to be the town Mayor. Brody’s ex wife Carly filed for divorce and signed over full custody to Brody when she went to rehab for her dr*g addiction. Brody hasn’t dated anyone since Carly, as he doesn’t want to get his daughter Mina attached to someone who eventually leaves. Brody and Trouble have known each other for a year, and Brody has turned down Trouble multiple times when he asked him on a date since then but Trouble worked his way past Brody’s defences. Brody really liked Trouble but can’t see how he can be serious all the times he’s asked him out as Trouble is sexy as f*ck, and he’s just plain old chunky him (the way he describes himself). It wasn’t until Brody actually got to know Trouble and the guys from Twirled World Ink that they became friends that eventually turned into everything. I loved how much Trouble loves Mina from pretty much their first meeting, and the guys from the shop become their extended family. I loved how they all showed up for Mina’s first day of school, Lucky even spent a week making her clothes. They all even escorted her to kindergarten on their bikes.
Man, Trouble’s family are rich, entitled narcissistic a*seholes who treat him so horribly, they look down on and judge him for having tattoos and piercings. They view him as complete trash that’s not even good enough to be in their presence. They make him have to be pretend to be James who wears a suit instead of Trouble who wears jeans and tees. He feels completely worn down and nausceous when being at his family home as he feels so unwelcome. His family’s Maid is the only person in that house that cares about him. Trouble’s mother is a complete sociopath, threatening Brody and Mina if he didn’t leave Trouble and then she called CPS with a bogus claim of child neglect/endangerment. The Twirled World Ink crew all had Brody and Mina’s back. When none of that worked she tried to bribe Brody with very little money to leave. Luckily Bull and Crave from Brawlers were there so she left pretty quickly. I loved how they got Troubles family to leave them all along. All I can say is Elijah can be pretty vindictive when he wants to be. I’m looking forward to reading Scary, Tank & Elijah’s story next after reading the first chapter of their book. I have no doubt that it’s going to be explosive between the three of them. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
Another great book to continue the series and this one may have been better than the first even though it had less elements that i loved *pouts* (very little lap cuddling)
Less funny moments - more depth.
This one was more emotional, not angsty to the point people shouldn't pick it up but I will admit I did cry a little for Trouble, whenever he would silently sob or resign himself to the fact he's 'guarenteed' to fuck up, my heart would ache.
I'm glad the push/pull wasn't as extreme as I first thought it would be, because in the first book we're told that Brody consistently rejects Trouble I was worried that half the book would be a lot of pushing away, thankfully this author knows how to keep readers happy and didn't drag it out in the slightest.
Children in romance aren't my favourite, mainly because they take away from the romance, usually make things more difficult and it seems to be very difficult to get the age right but Mina wasn't bad at all, she wasn't a 30 year old genius in a child's body, she acted what I would think a 5 year old would act like and thanks to the many uncles she cultivated, she spent a a decent amount of the story occupied (but not so much that it seemed like a flop out).
I felt so bad for Elijah and could sympathise with him so much, we're very much alike in that sense that if a child or animal shows us any sort of rejection then it fucking hurts. Maybe it's universal, maybe we're freakishly sensitive, i don't know, but I'm intrigued for his story (to be fair I'm excited for all their stories).
The couple were sweet, my belly didn't exactly flip and I don't recall the warm and fuzzies as much with this one (maybe because there was less lap cuddling *still pouting*) but I still thought they were a very solid and likeable couple to root for. There was only 2 sex scenes if I recall correctly so I probably wouldn't recommend if you're looking for smut but if you want a sweet, safe and easy MM romance with a little emotional depth and an array (a shit ton) of intriguing characters then I'd definitely say you're in the right place.
Safety.
Completely effing safe. So safe. So beautifully safe.
•Trouble is celibate for a year - the first time he saw Brody. He's not been interested in anyone since. •Brody has never been with anyone since his ex-wife with whom he had Mina (his daughter) with. That was in senior year, if I recall correctly, I don't think he's been with anyone else, ever. (He's Bi) •We never meet the ex-wife, Brody has full custody. •No OP, No cheating, no disloyalty in any way.
