Grinding Frost: A Reverse Harem Dragon Fantasy Starcrossed Dragons, Volume 2 By: Erin Bedford, J. A. Cipriano Narrated by: Melissa Moran This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I love this series! This continues the series where book one left off. There is political intrigue, suspense, assassins, and the love grows between Maya and her harem. It is not a love triangle, they all love her and she loves them and they all protect and care for her together. There is fighting but not between the harem, it is to keep them alive from their enemies. It just keeps getting better! The narrator is great, she knows how to increase the emotions and keep the story flowing quickly and never lets it lag. Great job!
I have been really enjoying the new focus on reverse harems. It has become a new favorite. I recommend you read the series.
This is the second book in the series featuring Maya and the three dragons that she has selected as her mates. They have told everyone she is pregnant and that lie has really put pressure on them from their families.
She is still trying to get one of them to truly commit. The dynamics among them all are definitely interesting. The men all have very different personalities. Maya has formed a different type of relationship with each and those bonds are strengthening. The sexual relationships are really hot. There is a lot of political intrigue too as they meet the other families.
I would like to thank Booksprout and CreateSpace Independent Publishing platform for this partnership.
We find there the pretty Maya who lied to her people by telling them that she was pregnant for the preserved. Except that lies can only be paid for. Fearing for her life and her compatriots she will leave with the lightning dragons but will she pay for her lie?
I loved this second book as much as the first one I read in one go with the character of Maya, always as endearing and a scenario as captivating as ever. Looking forward to reading on.
The Second Installment Was Even Better Than The First
I adore these characters and this world. The corruption in the kingdoms is enthralling, the abilities of the dragons impressive. I just don't quite know how to describe it beyond stating I really love this series and can't wait to read more.
Emotionally thrilling, sexy, fun and engaging romantic adventure to save their love and their lives.... filled with so much danger, mystery, uncertain loyalties and smoking hot passion... loved every heart pounding twist and turn and looking forward to more.
Amazing fantasy story with Maya having all the guys instead of the other way around. She’s not really pregnant but says so to protect the others. Totally different type of story, but I certainly enjoyed it. Received a free book.
I loved this book. The boys are getting along and focusing on a relationship with Maya not just having an heir and getting to rule the Western lands. In this book the personalities of the men really comes through. Their affection for Maya gives them depth. I am sure I would want to keep them all.
Grinding Frost by Erin Bedford and J.A. Cipriano is book two in their Starcrossed Dragons series. In Grinding Frost the story picks up where book one left off with Maya and her men. Maya is back from her brief stay on Earth with Jack. Maya is desperate to keep up the charade of being pregnant but things are quickly falling through the cracks. Fewer and fewer believe her and that is bringing danger closer and closer to Maya and her men. When Maya is attacked in her own home, she and the men decide that it is time for them to leave. When they decide to go to Raiden’s home to try for some safety and to help with a situation there, they believe it is for the best. When they get there, things seem to be okay, but once Maya meets Raiden’s mother a new danger arises. Grinding Frost brings us back to Maya, Firestar, Raiden and Jack. We get to meet new characters as well in Raiden’s brothers, who are fun, and then Raiden’s parents, one of which is a snake-like reminder of another we all love to hate. Pretending to be pregnant is not Maya’s forte and deceiving those around her isn’t one either. You see too often of where keeping up the façade is not an easy thing for her to do. There are still bouts of jealousies between the men at times, which on a level I find a bit annoying. I hate to say it, but it’s probably because it mostly comes from Firestar. Especially in one moment of where he is complaining about Maya being in danger. Honestly, at the end of the day Maya is constantly in danger, the difference is its show it’s face now. Grinding Frost takes things up a notch in this book. Things are getting more intense and dangerous. I love that there are several surprise elements in this story that will grab you and pull you in more. There are dangerous situations and there are heartwarming moments. Maya and her men face more than one dangerous situation and you can just see Maya and her men begin to come closer as a whole. I am an avid fan of this author and this is a series that I am thoroughly enjoying. There are moments of where a couple characters annoy me, but the storyline is so engaging. I could do with a bit less on the arrogance from Firestar but this book is worth the read. If you enjoyed the first book in this series then I say grab this one up! I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series. This book doesn’t end on a major cliffhanger but it does leave me eager for more!
MUCH better than book one. Running from the dense atmosphere at home in the Western Lands, Maya and her three suitors leave to pay a visit to Raiden's family, and possibly help the two ever-disagreeing brothers of our lightning dragon find a common ground. However, although the men in the family are cheerfil, playful, and openly friendly, the power-hungry mastermind that does not refrain from any means to fulfill her desires appears in the form of a frail-looking, harmless old woman. With the grace of a viper, Raiden's mother tries to blackmail Maya, insulting her with her offer. With the raids on their hands and assassins trying for Maya's life, the situation cannot be more strained. Except for the fake pregnancy and complicated relationship with Jack. Contrary to the mixed feelings and disappointment from book one, I actually enjoyed this book. Plotwise and character-wise the story developed, got more complex and complicated, and with new details about the world building revealed, even became much more realistic, considering the fact it is a fantasy book. I won't pretend I am fully satisfied, but I feel the difference, and the improvement is remarkable. Most appreciated it is when it come to the characters. I still cannot find a stable connection to Maya, although she grew up a bit and was able to rebel and stand her ground in much less childish way than before. However, I am really happy when it comes to Jack and his icy demeanor slipping up a bit to show the gentle and decent man beneath. Moreover, both Firestar and Raiden matured a bit since book one, a big win especially in Raiden's case since I no longer hated him. At the beginning, I only started to tolerate him, but closer to the end, I feel like I can actually grow fond of him. And the twins are kind of cute, adorable. In a boyish way. Also much less unnecessary and senseless violence, and more variety in expressions used in the steamy scened worked their magic on me. I am actually looking forward to read the next book in the series.
This is the second book in the Starcrossed Dragons series. Maya and her mates flee to the Raiden’s family’s kingdom so they can stop answering uncomfortable questions about Maya’s fake pregnancy. However, soon after arriving, things become just as difficult as Maya has someone out to assassinate her, rumors of her ability to grant great powers are spreading, and people are learning her pregnancy isn’t real. How will they get out of this with their lives intact? I love just about everything these two authors write in the genres I like, and I have to tell the truth: I wasn’t sure I would like this series. Knowing these two, I shouldn’t have worried. This book begins where the first one left off, and I eagerly started it to see where we would go next with Maya, Jack, Firestar, and Raiden. I love how well we get to know the characters, how interesting the book is, and how the interactions between the characters aren’t cheap (yes, there is hot, hot sex, but it is by no means the main focus). I was engrossed the whole book and I can’t wait for more. If you loved the first one, you’ll love this one. If you haven’t started the series, do so! Highly recommend! Thanks to the authors for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Maya has finally had physical relations with all her men plus she finally has her wings. This is another great addition to this STAR CROSSED DRAGON SERIES. They are at the home of Raiden because Maya got tired of the insults from her father and Raiden's father needed him home for help with his brothers. So once there she met the mother of Raiden, Lady Nariko. She is a viper and no one sees it but Maya. The King is Lord Shen and that is Raidens father. His brothers are twins Raijin and Fujin. When they get to Raiden's home they find out that its raiders attacking their villages that is the problem. So Raiden, Firestar, Jack and the twins figure out a trap for those raiders. When they leave they make Maya stay home. Later a messenger comes and she finds out the raiders have greater numbers than they thought and her men are getting over run. Maya starts getting upset with worry for her men and also the pressure that Lady Nariko is putting on her. Next thing she know she's sprouting her wings and she is finally a dragon. So she goes to help her men. Once again at the end of this story they are on the road again. So I'm going on to the next in the series.

Maya Rose told everyone she was pregnant to ensure her suitors stayed alive, but this lie could be their undoing. Add to that the way she can add power to the ones she has mated with and the world is becoming a much more dangerous place for them. They travel to Raiden's home to seek refuge with the lightening dragons but his mother knows the truth and her price is very high for her silence - something that horrifies Maya. Can she play the old woman at her own game and what will her mates make of this situation?
Lots of drama and danger in this second part of the series. Through it all everything stays good between Maya and her three mates and they cope well with everything that is thrown at them. It was nice to see their relationships develop a bit more and for the four of them to be even more of a cohesive unit. Everything was very clear and easy to understand. I could feel all the thoughts and emotions between the characters and shared their outrage at Raiden's mother and what she was trying to do.
Please note that this is a reverse harem story and does contain scenes involving sex.
👑I was afraid this might be just filler and well- empty sex 👑 I was so wrong -turned out to be an engaging and suspenseful story that will draw you in and have you actively participating with the scenes ( yelling, shrugging and fist clenching) - I had a lot of fun while lost within the pages of this one Characters are vivid and easy to connect with Absolutely loved the world that Bedford has created - a uniquely different yet familiar tone Each of Maya's mates is unique to himself and brings something different to their little polyamourous group bringing so much more depth to the characters and their situations Lots of political sabotage and greed "in the name of the kingdom" - action-packed with an undercurrent of suspense and some shocking revelations Turns out this is book 2 - I was able to read it without reading the first but I wouldn't suggest it. Available in Kindle Unlimited
Have it in Audio Book 2 in the series Loved how this picked up where book 1 finished. Love how this story has mystery danger and quick thinking. This story shows about teamwork
In book 1 young Maya decides to go back to earth with Jack . Once Maya and Jack come back from Earth they decide to go back to Maya’s home. Maya told everyone that she is pregnant to keep everyone safe . Little by little everyone is finding out Maya lied . They are wondering why ?Maya and her dragon mates were surprised that Maya was attached in her backyard. They decide to go to another mates home. They set out for Raidens home. The scene seems safe but the danger is from Raidens Mother’s. Her sneaking is like a creature that attacks when you least expect it. You get to meet Raiden brothers and you wonder if there will be more about them. The attacks bring the mates closer to each other How will they handle the danger
Love Melissa Moran love how she narrates . She nailed this one
This is the second book in this series. As Maya and her suitors carry on the lie that she is pregnant to forestall her father's demands for an heir, friends become foes, and the quartet are forced to run again. They flee to the realm of the lightning dragons, but there is trouble there as well. No matter where they turn, they find betrayal, traps, lies, and now assassins. Even friend and family become suspect, and when the knowledge that having sex with Maya confers great power on the male dragon partner, will they ever find peace? This instalment is packed with action, adventure, drama, and, of course, plenty of hot sex. There's a little humor, too, and Maya retains her touch of snark. However, she still has to question whether the guys really love her...or just the power and position they can obtain through her.

Maya tells her farther a fib in order for him to back off but how long can she keep the lie going before all of them are caught out on it not being true but does she even have to worry about that as time may be running out in regards to safety even in her own home. I really liked how the guys have started to bond and find there place within the group so they worked as a more cohesive group instead of fighting for dominance. I have to say I did start to find Maya a bit infuriating as I felt like she hadn't really committed to the relationship like the others and was just running on hormones so the was happy with how she reacted to Raiden's Mother and really started to show herself as a woman led by feelings and emotions and also letting the guys in.

While the plot thickens so do the lies. Using an excuse to leave her fathers castle they think they will be better received but things don't exactly go as planned. Lies, deception, betrayal and passion are all off the chart and on the platter being served to one and all. Betrayal that hurts worse when it comes from unexpected sources. This wayward group may be in more trouble than they ever imagined and being forced closer together.
This is a hot and sexy read with plenty of story to go along with it. It's not lacking in the intrigue and action either and doesn't look like that will have a chance to change. What might change is who may actually win the girl and all that comes with her, good and bad.
“... a reverse harem featuring hot sex, adult themes, dragons, cool weapons, action, adventure, a wise-cracking heroine, and much, MUCH more.”
I really don’t want to ruin Grinding Frost by giving anything away so I’m not going to summarize it (not really needed anyway as the kindle blurb does a perfectly good job) but rather will simply note that the above quote perfectly captures what is within. Maya’s relationship with Firestar, Raiden and Jack is just done perfectly. Add in some great new characters resulting in a perfect supporting cast (I loved meeting Raiden’s brothers and parents) and another wonderfully strong plot (perfectly written, of course). The result is a superb addition to the series.
Maya and her men are back with another fun story full of action and surprises as they try to survive their relatives. This time I was introduced to and fell in love with Raiden's family, well not his mother but his dad and brothers were a hoot. What a crazy world full of horrible family members. I thought the story well written and quite funny. Plus quite a few sexy scenes that fit in with the story line, this is a reverse harem story after all. Also shows t be careful when lying. All kinds of issues show up because Maya lied and said she was pregnant for the best of reasons. Enemies abound and people on their side show up too. I liked the story and it made me laugh a few times as I read it in one sitting to see what crazy thing and crazy relatives Maya would meet in this one.
I really enjoyed Grinding Frost. The twists from the first book were just as good as they are in this book. I cannot believe what Raidens mother does, she does it even without thinking it will upset not only Maya but her own three sons as well. Mayas hoping to get pregnant very soon as not only does her own sister and cousin know that she is not pregnant, but also Raidens mother. Maya only confirms to them that she is pregnant. They have to flee Raidens kingdom because of his mother, they head towards Jacks kingdom hoping to figure things out to sort their troubles out and hopefully save all the kingdoms that are fighting each other. Cannot wait to read the next book to see of they can solve their troubles.
Maya has told the lie that she is pregnant with an heir in order to save her mates. his lie has the power to take away and damage what she holds dear to her heart. Maya now has assassins after her and her mates and her life is now on the line as well. This is the second book in the Starcrossed Dragons series and it was a really good continuation to the first book which gave readers a good introduction and peak into the characters world. This book keeps the reader wanting more and makes it hard to put the book down. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Poor Maya! All she really wants is to be with her men but things can't be simple. Her dad is constantly on her case about her men and her "pregnancy". Her mom and sister are suspicious about her condition. An attack comes from someone Maya thought she could trust. Definitely time to leave her home. Since Raiden has been summoned home by his father, Maya and the rest of her men tag along. But, not all are happy to see them. Maya is "asked" to do something unthinkable. Looks like it's time to find a new home..again. I'm loving this series. I can't wait for the next book.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
Audio book version: The Story continues! This book continues the adventure and in no way disappoints. The characters are all still growing as a harem and settling into their roles and finding their footing. While their relationships still develop, they also have to worry about outside forces trying to destroy what they have and take power for themselves. I love the story and can't wait to continue the adventure.
The narration is fantastic. Melissa's voice is very enjoyable not to mention she brings great life to each and every character. The production is clean and well edited. Great Audio!
Wow! There is so much intrigue going on in this storyline that it is hard to keep the enemies in their places. Especially ones who are family! Traveling to the land of the east, to Prince Raiden's home, Maya and her mates encounter a whole lot of danger, rebel attacks from who-knows-where, suspicious behavior worth investigating and backstabbing relatives that really need to be dealt with! Oh yes, a lot happens in this book as Maya finally gets physical with her ice dragon Jack, and she finally gets her wings! So stay tuned for the next exciting installment. I know I will!

Oh boy, things are getting more complicated. Maya’s father is a tyrant so they are off to Raiden’s family. I love how she thinks his dad and brothers are the type of family she always dreamed of. Ooops, mom blew that dream. I was so glad she was able to see what she was dealing with right away. The way Raiden and his brothers stood by her, Firestar and Jack was exciting. I loved the way she took Firestar with her to confront the Queen. As it is, her lie about being pregnant is not fooling anybody. I loved that she finally got her time with Jack. Together they are a force to be reckoned with.
I loved getting back to Maya and her dragons. This part of the story was just as exciting as the first if nor more exciting because of the new challenges that they face. Each of Maya's men are sweet and sexy in their own way. I loved the fact that Maya doesn't show favorites among the men and that she loves each of them equally. I can't wait to finish the story and find out more about this amazing world. Just as in the first book Melissa did an amazing job narrating and her voice is just absolutely perfect for this series.
Grinding Frost is the second part in this entertaining adult fantasy adventure series, and if you enjoyed the first book, you should enjoy this one too. However, if you are put off by the idea of one girl with multiple guys, and you prefer the screen to fade to black when things get hot, this is definitely not the book for you. This is also not a book to listen to when other people may overhear, especially if kids are in the room. Cool dragons or not, skip this book for the family road trip!
The narrator does a good job bringing the book to life.
