One Last Chance #2

One Last Touch

Rate this book
One wild night in college, was the best lover I’d ever had.
Cal made me scream till I was hoarse and begging for more at the same time.
Then it was over, and I never saw him again.
He was always the man in the back of my mind.
Cal was the measuring stick to the next one.

He’s standing in front of me now, as sexy and devilish as ever.
It took me a minute to place him.
It’s been so long, and he wasn’t supposed to be here.
I was here for a wedding, not Cal.

I try to deny the attraction.
I try to refuse the draw.
But it’s impossible to say no to Cal.
I just don’t want to.
There is no stopping the change my body made when I see him.
It had always been this way.

This is the control he has over me.
And he doesn’t even have to do a thing.
I naturally want back in his arms.
And back in his bed, where anything was possible.

One Last Touch is a stand-alone novel. As always, lots of love and romance and a very satisfying HEA!

No just no!!!!!!

I normally don't write reviews but I had to with this one. I absolutely hate cheating and anne forgave him 2 days later because she's pregnant. Like wtf there was no reason for him to cheat on her then he says he's sorry and gets drunk and sleeps with a bunch of women. And cal encourages him and tells him not to tell anne. Both the guys in this book are disgusting and the women are made to look cheap. Would not recommend this book to anyone.

THE FIRST STEP IS ALWAYS THE HARDEST!!!
Wow! I don't know who the genius was that named this tale like some mundane second chance relationship. I would say I hate to burst your bubble but I'm not and we did say "HONEST OPINION". Yep, you heard right. There isn't one thing about this modern day marvel thats "just" anything. Whatever your thoughts about what you'd find in this "second chance" romance, you might want to pitch those, cause Lauren brought out the big guns. This is one refeshing spin, with no holds barred, action packed, fast paced with a fantastic perspective that grabs your attention from the first paragraph and doesn't leave you hanging. Lauren brings down the house with this bad boy. How about a two for one? The magic between two of the main characters was that awesomely romantic and often referred to as soulmates. Yep! They clicked right off the bat and didn't even know each others name. *SIGH* This is one read thats hard to take and harder to put down. Lauren tosses her magic into the mix and brings out all the emotions that we don't understand until later, its that soul deep connection. Lauren brought this bad boy up front, close and personal. The characters are complex, intriguing and very realistic. That first eye lock may have been instantaneous but no less electrifying and explosive. Well, until someone hits you upside the nogging with a frying pan. Yeah, Lauren made these guys work for it. Nothing like a slippery slope. The scenes are so vividly detailed that it brings all of your senses rushing forward and makes for one awe-inspiring backdrop for this page turning masterpiece brilliantly. Lauren was totally on point and believable as she brings it all together flawlessly. All the twists, turns and roadblocks are thrown in to add suspense and drama that keeps you on edge until the last word. Phenomenal job Lauren, thanks for sharing this remarkable read with us.

Cal and Mariss were at college together but he was the bad boy playboy who had any female that he wanted. When he spotted her he knew that he would have her and he did in one amazing night but then she left without a word to go and care for her aunt.  Years later they meet at their best friends' wedding that goes belly up.  he's had too much to drink and has [unbeknown to Mariss is engaged to his boss's daughter whom he doesn't love but got him fast track promotion] another night with Mariss. But what is going to happen when she finds out that he made her the 'other woman'???  He's not being fair to either female in his life!  I must admit I think Mariss is a bit of a doormat in so many ways and Cal just repulsed me at times.  But then again, this is a book by Lauren Wood who is a top USA best selling author who I am a fan of her stories. There is some great witty dialogue and humour. This isn't by any means a favourite of mine - mainly as I just don't like books with any cheating at all - I only continued reading as it was by Lauren and well written.  I do, however, look forward to Lauren's next book being published and I will definitely be getting a copy of that to read. I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.  A well written story.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Cal and Mariss. They had met ten years earlier at a party in college and had a one night stand. When Cal woke the next morning Mariss was gone and never returned to college. Cal was disappointed and never got over her. When Mariss arrives for the wedding of her best friend, she is shocked to find Cal is the best friend of the groom. Cal is excited to see Mariss and he wants to be with her again, only he is supposed to be married himself in a few weeks to someone else. When Cal is too drunk to drive home and stays at his best friend's house, Mariss sees him in the middle of the night and Cal makes a move thinking he is dreaming. Mariss and Cal still have a great connection but when she finds out he is engaged, she is furious and leaves him. Cal wanted to end things with his fiancee but Mariss found out before he could. I liked this story, i thought they had a great connection to have lasted through the years. I wish Cal would have handled his fiancee a little different but he really didn't want to marry her in the first place. Good one.

Cal and Mariss shared one amazing night together and then she was gone. Cal has never forgotten her and just as he was moving on with his life she's back for a wedding of a mutual friend. Mariss never forgot Cal either but life got in the way and she never was able to reach out to him again. Running into him again after all this time is amazing and its like no time has passed. Cal gets drunk and ends up crashing with their friends where she happens to be staying and one middle of the night incident has everyone exploding. Cal didn't mention to Mariss that he was engaged to be married to someone and things went a little too far between them. Will Cal ends things to be with Mariss or will Mariss disappear from his life yet again?

This was a amazing story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Cal and Mariss was off the charts hot. I would recommedn this book to any book lover.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.

A fun read, and a great romance!
I laughed, I cried, and wanted to shake some not-so-common sense into a few men! Yep, it’s just a typical day in Romanceland! “ONE LAST TOUCH” is a fun read – lighter hearted than some of the other romances I’ve read this Spring. It also has the added feature of giving the readers who purchase it two romance stories for the price of one. I fell in love with the strong women, Mariss and Anna. Both Jesse and Cal were a bit juvenile and stereotypical jock at the beginning of the story. Yet, there was no other way to introduce them which would allow readers to watch them grow and mature over time. How they get there is part of the fun – as long as you remember that promised HEA! Like most of Lauren Wood’s stories, the thematic stance that life is unexpected and never goes just the way one plans it, rings true in “ONE LAST TOUCH”! I was given an ARC copy to prepare this honest and voluntary review, and I am happy to give it a five-star rating and a strong recommendation. Get your copy of “ONE LAST TOUCH,” today. Happy pages! 😉

***I voluntarily read this ARC to give an honest review*** Mariss and Cal meet at a frat party where she was attending before her first year of college. Cal was a hound and thought that Mariss was the most beautiful women he had ever seen. He usually played the room, but she was the only one that he wanted to get to know in the biblical sense. For the first time in her life, Mariss was caught up with this man and she gave herself to him. Then she disappeared. She didn't go to school because her aunt became ill and she went home to take care of her. Ten years later, we find Cal and his best friend, Jesse getting ready for his marriage to Anna, who by the way is best friends with Mariss. Cal also is engaged to Marsha his bosses daughter. Jesse knows that Cal had met a girl back in school and was smitten but couldn't find her. They go to the airport to pick up Anna's maid of honor and it is Mariss. Now the trouble begins. A good read!

Voluntary ARC review.

This was an ok book for me. The only part that I liked the most was the prologue so... I guess I was not a fan of this story.
First, Cal was a like a child, complaining of his fake soon-to-be marriage e how his father's boss had him in his little finger.
Second, Jesse was also a hypocrite, giving wise advises to Cal for him to not do something stupid while he did it so much worse than him.
Third, Anna was self-centered, telling Mariss what to do and not to do, and when the situation changed, she did whatever she wanted, dispute what Mariss thought.
And, fourth, Mariss was so meh, so flat.

Idk, I just didn't feel these characters, there were uninteresting and boring. It was a quick read, like 2 hours or so.
Sorry, but this was not for me.

Excellent contemporary second chance romance. Cal and Marissa had one night together in college. Then she goes home to attend her best friend, Anna's wedding. Turns out that the Cal she's dreamed of for years is the best man. Cal knew back in college that there was something unique about Marissa and as soon as they see one another that feeling is back. Marissa reminds Anna of the guy she met at college and that it's Cal. All sorts of unique adventures await this couple who can't be a couple because Cal forgot to mention an important detail of his life. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I very much look forward to reading future books by Ms. Wood.

What a great story. It is so well written that it kept me on the edge the whole time. I just had to know what came next. Very captivating because of the writing style and the use of words. Characters are so well described that you almost feel you know them and you are there with them in the story.
A lot of twists, emotions, passion, chemistry, attraction, love and lust mixed with humour, disappointment, suspense, surprises and attraction makes it worth the read.
This is a must read if you like romances with a twist.

### this is a ARC Copy and voluntary and my review is honest###

This is a story about two college students Cal and Mariss.
They met at a frat pack party . They had a night of wild sex.
Then she attended a wedding and to her horror Cal is also part of the wedding party.
This is a second chance romance, were realistic character description . There were times that i felt like pulling my hair, crying, laughing and swearing., due to conflict situations.
From the beginning I was pulled into the story, action packed, real-page turner, entertaining, great word-building, steamy, romantic,

I went in enjoying the story and the characters were interesting. The writing seems a bit rushed at times, I didn't always feel a close connection with the characters. There were twists and turns with both Cal and Mariss as well as their best friends Jesse and Anna that kept me on my toes but left me feeling disappointed.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Cal and Mariss had a one night stand, and she left, but neither of them forgot about the other. Now Mariss is back for a mutual friends wedding, and they reconnect again, despite Cal keeping a secret from her. This is a good story, which had me intrigued and hooked throughout. I adore this talented authors’ work, however, this was not one of my favourites! I recommend for all lovers of a second chance romance.

While this was a good read and I enjoyed it, it's not my most favorite by this author. Cal and Mariss had one night years ago and find themselves face to face once again. Misunderstandings and lack of trust continue to come between the two as they work towards a HEA.

A Super, Must Read Story

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. I really liked “One Last Touch” by Lauren Wood. It is a really interesting, well written book with lovely, engaging characters who have great chemistry and interaction that had me glued to their story. This is an Entertaining, Must Read Romance that I really enjoyed reading from the first chapter.

I liked the blurb, and even if there are some twists, I wasn't really in the story. The characters might have been more passionate because they act with lust, but in fact they are quite sweet. When something happens, they describe what is happening, but they're often out of the description, not in the scene. (he say, she said...)

What a wonderful, fun and quick to read book. The storyline is fast-paced, well-written, has drama, sizzle, and eventually a HEA. The defined characters are strong, likable, relatable and have amazing chemistry between them, I enjoyed this entertaining read. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

This was a decent book. It was a quick read and easy to follow.

It was a well written book that included a good amount of spice and storyline, not just spice.

I also like that there are characters involved from previous books in the series.
This book had a second chance on 2 different couples and ended with a really sweet happily ever after!

One Last Touch is a second chance love story about a love that was meant to be. Mariss and Cal had a one night stand while in college that was unforgettable. Years later fate brings them together again but not in a good way. This is a well written book with believable characters and a storyline with twists that kept me interested. I read a lot, maybe 2-3 books a week. A few are excellent but most are good with good writing and a good story. This book had neither. There were so many typos and grammar errors that I wanted to quit reading many times. But I didn’t. I wanted to find out why others rated this book so high. I never did. Waste of time and money.
