The author that brought you "Jack" in Shopping list 2 and "Unholy Trinity" in the Big Book of Bootleg Horror Volume IV now brings you an assortment of four tales that will leave your spine tingling and soul looking for redemption
Highway 666 - Read the newspaper account of the horrifying death of 3 teenagers who encountered a Demonic traveler
Til Death - A wife is taken on an anniversary treasure hunt following clues left by her husband. At the end of the path, she will be shown he has completely given his heart to her.
Demon Apocalypse – It is the end of days, but not how the Bible described it. Save your prayers, they won’t save you from this.
Eternal Journey – A young girl is stricken by a cruel twist of fate condemning her to repeat the same journey day after day, until the end of time.
David Clark is an author of multiple self-published horror novels and anthologies (amazon genre top 100) and can be found in 3 published horror anthologies. His writing focuses on the suspense, horror and sci-fi genres with a writing style takes a story based on reality, develops characters the reader can connect with and pull for, and then sending the reader on a roller-coaster journey the best fortune teller cannot predict. He feels his job is done if the reader either gasps, makes a verbal reaction out loud, throws the book across the room, or hopefully all three.
This collection is a 'combo' of different terrors you can enjoy: psychopaths, apocalypse, gore and paranormal. It makes me think of the tales you hear when you're a little kid, which terrify your nights and steal your sleep. Four stories completely different, all of them disturbing in their own way.
I never spoil a book, but I can say this. The first one is shuddering, you get to hyperventilate when you're following the horror those witnesses expose. The second one, ah, love, how deep and insane. You really shouldn't betray the wrong one... The third story draws an apocalyptic scenario, but not the regular one. You'll find yourself lost in... Hell itself?
That said, Clark closes the collection with a very beautiful, sharp one. "The Eternal Journey" has been, perhaps because I'm a nostalgic, my favourite one.
The author shows the proper skills to jump from one subgenre to another since he's now demolishing, loving afterwards, gore at the end. Always with winks and little smirks for the reader. I would say, a perfect little read for a horror aficionado.
This book got me out of a reading slump. It is a collection of 4 short stories that are as well written, imaginative and unpredictable as they are unsettling, descriptive and gory. The first two stories did a fantastic job of churning my stomach - definitely not for the squeamish and faint of heart but it was the last tale that is my favourite. Absolutely loved the book and I highly recommend it.
A short collection of gruesome tales that were drawn out. Am not against gruesome stories or horror but this book was not for me. I would have liked it better if the stories had not dragged on at the expense of the practicality of the plot.
This is a new author i found. I have read this book and giving my honest review. Wow what a gripping book. Loved the anniversary story Not spoiling you will have to read yourselves I enjoy to the end could not put this down.
I still have goosebumps. Had to keep putting it down and taking a breather. Warning: When you read it at night, you will hear every bump and creak in your house... lol
***I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.***
Nice collection of short horror. They were all pretty good but my favorite by far was the last one. Even though I was sure I knew what going to happen, it still gave me chills. Worth it for that story alone.
"A fun read! Lots of the dread combined with the the scary to make for fun read if that is your sort of fun! It is mine! Plots were well developed, action was succinct and all in all a fun read!"
I'm trying to erase the images in my head that this book painted. If grotesque, graphic writing is your thing, you're in for a ride, literally. Read at your own risk, but he aware, you will experience nightmares. Sleep with the lights on!
