Coconut Cove is television’s newest hot sensation. The glitzy teen drama set in the beach lover’s paradise of Key West is the talk of every gossip rag eager for dirt and hookup news on the hot young actors—like Levi Phillips, who plays the show’s resident bad boy.
Levi’s attraction to costume designer Whit heads into high romance when Whit orders Levi out of his clothes—in an attempt to save Levi from heat exhaustion, of course.
Sassy Whit knows just how to dress, and undress, Levi, and soon the sexy duo are steaming it up offscreen, which is no surprise to their friends and castmates.
But love in the public eye is complicated, and rumors pose challenges that can threaten careers and love….
Add two parts sass and one part sweet and you have Poppy Dennison to T—sweet tea that is. Raised by a gaggle of Southern women who love reading and have backbones of steel, Poppy was brought up to see the best in people but always speak her mind. Mix it all together, like Grandma’s famous cobbler, and you get a sassy, Southern lady with a quick wit and loads of charm, who will soften any blow with “Bless your heart.” Her books reflect her small town roots, are filled with all the comforts of home, and come with side dish of spicy, because that’s the way she likes it.
Sooo, this wasn't my favorite. *sad face* I am not certain if it was previously released and I simply missed it a few years back or if this is it's official release. I only know I enjoyed the first two in the series and was looking forward to this one. But it didn't quite hit the high notes I had hoped for. I believe the reason it didn't work for me was because it felt rushed and was too short for me to connect with either of the guys. I did enjoy catching a glimpse of the cast from the first part of the series. I am kinda surprised because I tend to click with Poppy's books but this one just got away from me.
It wasn't necessarily bad (and I certainly don't agree with the other rating because the reviewer one starred the entire series! Why continue to read them if you didn't like them...at all?? Makes me wonder and doesn't seem fair...)
Anyways, it could just be me...I hope it works better for others!
Ok so far: 1st book: English 2nd book: Italian (since this was the 1st translated in italian for this series I chose my language) 3rd book: English (If I wait for Italian translation probably I will never finish this series) 4th book: Probably English ...
I’m totally in love with this book. I can’t decide which book of the series I love more. For being a series of novellas, they sure do pack a lot of heat and heart. I love the chemistry between the main characters. The banter was laugh-out-loud funny. This book had very little drama and no angst which made it even more fun to read.
Levi Phillips plays bad boy Robbie in the Coconut Cove hit tv show. I love his wit and sense of humor. He was such a fun character to read. He’s such a trooper especially when the Florida heat almost gets the best of him. This poor guy is having to wear a leather jacket in the middle of summer for his character and ends up with heat exhaustion. Luckily for him, he was in the care of Whit, the sassy costume designer before he passed out. When Whit orders him out of his clothes, things go from hot to scorching as these two banter their way into the bedroom.
Whitney is the show’s sassy costume designer, and I just loved his tenacity and take-no-prisoners attitude. He takes his job extremely serious, so when his lust interest almost falls out in front of him, he does what he’s good at… gets him out of his clothes. Sparks fly, and these two are just downright combustible.
I definitely recommend this book, and I would suggest you read the previous books in the series. Every character has something special, and I’m enjoying getting to know them all.
It was a lighthearted story with a humorous tone, but it just didn’t worked that well for me. The sense of humor wasn’t of my liking and the relationship between Whit and Levi wasn’t as good as I could expect.
There were things that I enjoyed about it. It had a nice steady pace, it was free of angst and I, particularly loved the way the story was mixed with the scenes of the show they were shooting. I loved that way of telling the story, although there were only few moments. I was even intrigued by the plot of the show. Sometimes even more than the one of the book.
I wasn’t that much convinced by their relationship. I couldn’t really feel much emotions between them and the chemistry just wasn’t there. The flirting was too aggressive for my taste. I prefer something more subtle.
The conflicts that were presented to Whit and Levi were really light and they got resolved with such easiness that I lost interest very quickly. For someone who likes angst, I was left wanting so much more.
Overall it was ok. I think a reader looking for a lighthearted book and free of angst would be able to enjoy it.
