From the world of New York's Catholic Cathedral, to the secret and treacherous brotherhood of a Black Forest monastery, to a Vatican conclave to elect a new pope. Following the success of Rough Music, Robin has crafted a thriller full of verve and pace and introduces the fearless and Josie King, as she delves into an underworld of religious fanaticism on a personal crusade for vengeance.
This is the first in a series featuring Detective Josie King, who after witnessing her father's murder, begins to look into an old case he had been working on. This case reaches high into the Catholic church and uncovers an underworld of dark religious fanaticism.
This was a really interesting read and a great introduction to Josie, who despite the situations she finds herself in, had me laughing when perhaps I shouldn't have been. Robin has created a solid foundation for this series. The pace never slows and the tension mounted as I wondered if Josie had tried taking on more than she could manage.
This is the first book of Robin's I've read and I'm looking forward to reading more.
Great characters and a brilliant storyline made this story a quick and easy read! There were a few surprises and twists. I am looking forward to seeing more. Well done!
