Microdosing A Practical Guide to Upgrade Your Life by Paul Austin is a comprehensive guide to all the necessary information on the practice of microdosing – including protocols, benefits, drawbacks, and sourcing. Weaving together anecdotal narratives and preliminary research on the use of small amounts of psychedelics, Microdosing Psychedelics is oriented toward anyone interested in microdosing to improve their general well-being, particularly those in leadership and creative positions.Over the last few years, microdosing has entered the cultural zeitgeist. From bio-hackers in Silicon Valley seeking to improve their focus, to writers and artists looking for a creative edge, to suburban moms struggling with depression, to everyday people who want to achieve emotional balance, microdosing has led the way in mainstreaming and normalizing psychedelics. In the most comprehensive book of its kind, author, public speaker, and microdosing expert Paul Austin provides a thorough overview of how just about anyone can benefit from an intentional, structured microdosing protocol. In Microdosing Psychedelics, Austin provides readers with everything they need to know about microdosing, •What exactly is microdosing and how did it become a “thing?”•How to set up a weekly schedule if you want to experiment with microdosing•Three ways microdosing can benefit your professional career•The safest and easiest ways to obtain psychedelics if you wish to experiment with microdosing
Paul Austin was named a 2007 tuition scholar at the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference. A former firefighter, he has more than twenty-five years of experience working in emergency rooms. He lives in Durham, North Carolina.
This Paul Austin is not the same Paul Austin who wrote, "Return of the Lost One," or who co-wrote "I Am a Woman." If anyone knows how to remove these titles from my profile, please let me know.
After reading 88 pages I'm giving up for the following reasons:
- There are whole chapters filled with quotes from other books, papers and even reddit users (for example the chapter about why you should try microdosing. Would you trust what an anon reddit user says? I mean). And with whole chapters I mean there is more copied stuff then stuff he has written. Very frustrating format to read.
- In every single chapter so far he used subliminal marketing about his business 'The third wave'. Just in case you didn't google this business or podcast after reading about it in every chapter (10 chapters at 88pages), he offers you a website link to visit too.
- Underwhelming. This book has nothing to add if you are familiar with Fadiman and Mckenna, actually after the many quotes you will realise they were used as a reference for this book.
- Did I already mention the marketing? Originally people would buy books to learn stuff, they pay for content, they get it. These days however there are so many people out there who write a book, not because they want to help people... but because they wish to REACH people, so their business would grow. It's crazy when you think about it... normally a company needs to pay for advertisements but if they write a book, people actually pay for the subliminal advertisements. Best case scenario, readers fall for it and sign up for the 330usd course where the real content can be found.
Or they give a bad review because they sure as hell don't want to pay all that $$ for content they can find for free.
If you’re curious about the myriad ways that psychedelics can impact your life and society at large, this book may be of interest to you. Beyond the practical advice for sourcing and experimenting with psychedelic substances on your own, Austin places these substances in the wider contexts of psychology, creativity, business and leadership. As the stigma on mind-altering substances steadily recedes in the western world, the curiosity will only grow, and people will ask more and more questions about how psychedelics can positively impact their own lives and careers. Austin attempts to answer as many of these questions as he can in this book.
Fascinating read. The scientific studies are (as of yet) small and far between, but the preliminary findings are very promising, especially in terms of helping to deal with depression, addiction and PTSD. Looking forward to more research and larger scale group studies.
Great info in the book, but honestly it could be summed up in one article. I expected clear and detailed comparison of mding different psychedelics. And comparison of different protocols. On the other hand mentioning some life philosophies wasn't relevant in this book in my opinion.
4hour work week.
The author has a definite promotional agenda when it comes to use of psychedelics, so much so he developed a business around it. He sounds like an old hippie excited to help legitimatize a substance that changed his life as a teenager. So this is not a scientific view, it’s a bit of a sales pitch, but he does share a lot of references so I give him credit for that. Parts were interesting (potential for treatment of some mental health issues). Including a chapter on leadership was kind of odd, but the author credits microdosing with improvements in his leadership style so that’s why he included that chapter. Now I at least know what microdosing is. I kept hearing about it for some reason.
I really enjoyed reading this book and learned a lot about microdosing. except for the totally unnecessary chapter on leadership/entrepreneurship in the middle, it was a good read.
Introduces the key concepts of microdosing and puts in context with societal concerns, individual goals, and the evolution of life as we know it. Worth the read!
Great primer. Did not read some sections on leadership & management or entrepreneurs, but the rest was good solid info to get started. Feel late to the game, but I'm here now!
Great reading and great teaching skills. Desmistifies psichedelic experiences adds knowledge opens mind. Recommend this book to everyone. Will follow the site.
Majority of LSD stalwart writers are somehow your ordinary Tom, Dick n Harry. There's no harm in being one. But then, if LED provides focus, superiority, self-control etc . Why end up writing a book which is not superior by any angle. Its merely a collection of news article and couple of quoted research papers focused on aggrandizing some wanna-be super hero wishlist.
All I see is "Notice me" kind of book writers , disguised as "world changers".
Where's the actual output ? And if you cannot find the proof ( and it exists), then unfortunately your LSD hasn't helped much. All you have done is copied and pasted some stuff to prove your superhuman wishlist.
Está interesante pero a ratos es muy repetitivo. Creo que una parte importante del libro es para rellenar. Esta bueno para tener algunos datos extras sobre cómo utilizar microdosis
