Great for managers and supervisors

I work in a government agency that has a history of punitive leaders. New leaders at the executive level are trying to transform the culture to be supportive of front line staff. I want to buy a copy of this book for all of the managers that report to me! I would also like for those above me to read it but it's best if they don't hear that from me. LOL.

What I appreciated most about this book is the story that reader follows of a manager who is learning how to best support a challenging employee. It allows you to better understand the application of the concepts contained within the book. In some ways, much of this was review of things I know to be true given my years of experience in management but also offered new insights and approaches toward supportive accountability.

A basic summary of how managers should interact with their staff. I feel that a disclaimer that this is a level 1 book and not a deep dive into any particular management area would be helpful because the books general usefulness for a sr manager may be limited.

This book is filled with extremely basic information and realistically would be better for someone in a business that was just starting and needed some foundation. Only about 1/4 of the book was useful, even to my newest leaders, but it did make up for it with the stories woven throughout.
