Caitlyn Moreno’s no stranger to trouble. It’s part of the job for any cat burglar, let alone a thief who’s literally a cat. Well, ocelot shifter. No lock is beyond her capabilities, no mark beyond her reach. When rumor has it that the priceless Vandervelt broach will be kept for two nights in a hotel safe, guarded by shifter mafia, Lyn is compelled to make it hers. One mistake could cost Lyn her life, or worse, land her drugged, tossed in a crate, and dressed as… a bride?
When Tribunal enforcer Mason Blake returns home to his Alaskan cabin from a stressful assignment, he looks forward to a peaceful, quiet break. Alone. But a surprise late-night delivery leaves the anti-social polar bear shifter in an impossible situation—a gorgeous woman on his doorstep. Shut the door or let her in? Either way, she’s bound to be trouble.
This standalone story contains steamy shifter romance, action-packed and suspenseful circumstances, scorching love scenes, and a happily ever after ending.
USA Today Bestselling Author Keira Blackwood writes exciting paranormal romance and romantic urban fantasy with all the snort laughs and all the feels.
I freely admit to having a soft sot for the Blake “brothers”, so I was certainly excited to have their personal stories finally told. I’m a reader who loves secondary characters, they add so much to a story or a series. When those former “in the background” characters get to shine in their own series – then I’m one happy reader.
First up is Mason’s story. Always a loner, Mason works best in a solo mission and usually one in a very cold location. His last mission has left a bitter taste that he cannot shake off. So a retreat to his cabin high in the Alaskan mountains is a welcome break. What he didn’t expect was someone to barge into his seclusion leaving a box on his doorstep. Not just any box either – no, this one held something far more precious than beef steaks.
Lyn is good at what she does – usually. A cat burglar only has so many lives and this time she’s been caught by just about the worst possible person. As a result she’s ended up in a box, wearing a wedding dress dropped on a cabin’s doorstep in the frozen middle of who knows where. Knowing who it is that she was trying to steal from, the wedding dress comes as no real surprise – she’s been sold and this highest bidder better be prepared for broken body parts once she’s out of this box. Thing is she’s released from the box and… left to do as she pleases – walk down the mountain, come into the cabin – hide in the wilderness… none of which are exactly appealing options but at least she hadn’t been welcomed as a “bride” so far.
Misdelivered is full of the witty bantering and sexy couples that I’ve come to love and expect from Keira Blackwood. Mason isn’t much for words, but his actions speak loud and clear. And right now, his actions are saying this woman’s mine and I’ll protect her no matter what comes at us. Caitlyn is a unique woman who can usually handle life on her own terms. Yet now she’s faced with a decision – to keep running or letting someone care enough to keep her safe while she does the same for him. It’s really not a difficult decision. You’ll find a compelling couple, some nasty villains, an interesting plot and a few surprises tossed in for good measure. I’m looking forward to Lincoln’s and Mia’s stories soon. Lincoln has always had an air of mystery and seduction about him and his mate will have to be something amazing. Mia is going to be an interesting story for she is the most unknown of all the Blake “brothers”. She is a mystery that I’m looking forward to unraveling. So the look ahead for the remainder of the Can’t Prove Shift series is very anticipated by this reader.
If you’re in the mood for a good, solid Shifter Romance with action, danger, a touch of mystery and certainly a sexy couple then Misdelivered should be on your reading radar. I would highly recommend this story and suggest you get in on the beginning of this series from the start. And if you haven’t yet discovered the Riverwood series, now would be a good time to correct that oversight.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
An Ocelot and a Polar Bear???? What's the world coming to, but how could she not purr at the sight of him, he is so big & hot!
Lyn thought she had been trafficed and sold to this hunk, but he just closed the door on her! Purrfect, she could just shift into her ocelot and get out of there......No way, it's too cold with no where to go.....
Mason Drake and especially his Polar Bear loved it out here in the Alaskan wilderness with no one around for miles especially after a very disturbing mission. Then his tranquility is turned around with just a knock on his door....Who can this woman in a box be, just a figment of his sleepy imagination.....But it keeps bugging him so he goes out to look for her and finds a curled up Kitty in his shed, she is soooooo cute and freezing, so he picks up the ball of fur and takes her in to his cabin. Uh Oh!
Little did these two imagine that their lives would become so intertwined in both love and work.
I am really going to love this series that deals with the rest of the Tribunal brothers finding their mates. Mason is first and quickly finds himself falling for the cute little ocelot that ended up on his doorstep. Lyn was kidnapped and sold after a failed robbery attempt. At first she was wary of Mason but then she grew to love him also. Great story with the bad guys being taken down and a new life for Mason and Lyn in the Tribune.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
She has skills and is stealing some very valuable. She ends up at the door of a grouchy hot polar bear. What a combination and you know it will be excitement from there on. Loved it. It was exciting, fun, hot, and suspenseful. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
The only part of this book that I remember liking was the detail about the polar bear throwing a bunch of fish at his girlfriend's feet. I have read a couple books by this author and I do not like her writing.
Can’t Prove Shift – The Protectors unlimited book 1 - Keira Blackwood
What happens when a Polar Bear shifter meets an Ocelot shifter? Not what you’d expect!
Our FMC, Caitlyn (Lyn) Moreno is an Ocelot shifter who has lived a solitary existence after being orphaned as a young child. She bounced around the system, never really finding a family that was a good fit. She became a solo cat burglar which enabled her to live the (relatively) good life, until one bad decision puts her at the mercy of a mafia type pack of wolf shifters with only sinister intentions!
Our male protector in this book is a Polar Bear shifter named Mason Blake. He’s happiest when he is in his Alaskan cabin away from the people and the stress of assignments, he is in the shifter world, the equivalent of the FBI. He basically gets the bad guys!
As Mason discovers a mystery delivery at his front door, he opens it thinking someone has sent him a gift of steak. He’s pretty shocked when it turns out to be a woman, and a beautiful and feisty one at that! Mason soon discovers she is also a shifter, but what kind? He senses feline and he would be not far wrong there!
The usual antics that come with a crime family and male protagonist are here, along with some lively characters and excellent world building. There are a couple of fairly steamy scenes between our unlikely shifter couple that oddly work and are hot yet endearing all at once! It does make this however, an 18+ read.
Cute story and a fast page turner. I gave it four stars!
Here's the beginning of another winning series and I loved it. Lyn is very talented. She's been on the job since she was fourteen when she ran from the evils of the foster care she found. Now, she scored from wealthy guys who could afford it. She knew one day she may just make a misstep and it looks like that day is here.
Mason was glad to be back in his snow world. His little cabin in Alaska was home even though he didn't get to spend as much time here as his Polar Bear would like. He didn't get visitors. Just the way he liked. That's why he was surprised when a big wooden crate showed up at his door. He wasn't due a supply delivery. He sure hadn't ordered the gorgeous feline shifter the crate contained.
I loved the loners learning about each other, depending on each other, and feeling for the other. Their honesty is a refreshing change from most romances where secrets keep the couple apart. There is a snow scene that was delightful. Plenty of action, both the steamy kind and the dangerous kind, in this one. I dare you not to fall for this couple and cheer them on. A Polar Bear and an Ocelot shifter. What kind of match do they make? You don't want to miss finding out. I can't wait for the next brother, I think it's going to be Lincoln. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
A thrilling romantic tale that lures you into the story from the start with abduction, suspense, spine-chilling action, danger, intense passionate romance and a well-deserved joyousness ending after all the obstacles are put to rest.
Lyn a sassy charming independent Ocelot shifter makes her living as a thief. When trying to steal a priceless jewel she is caught by a villainous mafia wolf shifter. Mason is an eye-catching gorgeous powerful polar bear shifter and a Tribunal enforcer. After a stressful mission, he takes pleasure in being alone in his secluded Alaskan cabin. Lyn is catapulted into a heart-stirring world when she meets the aloof Mason.
A fast-paced captivating read that holds your attention until the conclusion. The characters are praise-worthy and come alive with quick-witted dialogue and powerful vivid scene descriptions. The romance between Lyn and Mason is genuine and filled with much devotion. The author shows how trust and communication play a large part in a loving lasting relationship. I adored these two together and look forward to the next book in this series. If you treasure shifter romance this is definitely a fabulous book for your library. I found this to be a most gratifying read so {I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy}. Without, reservations, I recommend this book.
I have read a lot of shape shifter romance in my life and I need a good hook for me to remain interested long enough to get to the “good” parts, as it were. I will say that an ocelot shifter being an actual cat burglar? Yeah, that was a pretty good hook. Unfortunately for this pretty kitty, she ends up going up against a less-than-wholesome mobster, and her life takes a turn for the decidedly strange. She ends up in a wedding dress and stuffed into a wooden crate but is, as the title suggests, mis-delivered. I am not sure that I would go so far as to call this book great literature, but it held my attention throughout, which is saying something in such a glutted genre. The author did take advantage of a more and more common method of storytelling wherein each chapter is from the first-person perspective of the two main characters: Lyn and Mason. I think that it would have been put to better use had the author taken a little more time to get to know her characters so that the perspectives were different enough, that the personality of each character came through better. However, it was still an enjoyable, fast read and definitely not a bad way to spend an afternoon. There is adult content and this book is best recommended to readers over 18.
Can't Prove Shift starts off somewhat confusing. Pay attention to the Point of View- it changes periodically. Lyn, a shifter, is caught as she tries to rob Salvatore Girardo, is drugged, and awakens in a coffin dressed as a bride. Mason Blake meets her under unfavorable conditions when he opens the coffin and she thinks he is responsible for her condition. Fortunately, it doesn't take long for them to realize they are fated mates and take revenge on the perpetrators of Lyn's abductors. Note: there is a LOT of hot, passionate sex, all steamily consensual, and erotically described. There is abundant action, magic, and paranormal happenings. Some shifters fight for good (most of the time) but some shifters are evil villains. It's a rousing, exciting story. BTW, you can get this and two other books combined in The Protectors Unlimited Box Set.
Misdelivered by Keira Blackwood is her first book in her new series Can't Prove Shift. It has a sexy main character that readers of her Riverwood series will recognize Mason Blake. I'm so excited that she decided to write more books with her wonderful characters in them. Mason if you recall works for the Tribunal. He's on vacation in Misdelivered at his cabin in the north country. He receives a very strange package that was delivered to him by mistake. When he opens it he finds a woman named Lyn inside. Wait till you see how she was packaged. Their story is full of intrigue, mystery, heartache, crime, friendship, family and love. It's a standalone novel with no cliffhanger. I truly enjoyed reading it. Mason deserved to find his Soulmate and I'm so please Keira decided to share his story with us. I can't wait to see who's next. I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest voluntary review.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "CAN'T PROVE SHIFT" What an interesting, entertaining, intriguing, suspense filled drama with humor, action, scorching hot scenes, grabs you from start to finish. Caitlyn Moreno an Ocelot Shifter a magnet for trouble she's a cat burglar wanting to get the Vandervelt Broach guarded by Mafia Shifters if caught she'll be in a box drugged wearing a wedding dress. Caitlyn & Mason meet he's not a talker but he's I credible in so many other ways they realize their mates the scorching hot sex scenes he'll do anything to protect what's his. I definitely recommend to get this very enjoyable book with great well developed characters the action packed journey they take to get revenge on who did this to her, I'm so looking forward to next book in this series. AWESOME READ!!!!
Can't Prove Shift is a paranormal romantic suspense by Keira Blackwood. Ms. Blackwood has provided readers with a well-written book. The characters in this book are fantastic and make it a fun read. Mason is sickened by what he's sent to clean up, trafficking women and children is the worst. When he arrives home after his mission he relaxes in his home on the top of a mountain. Lyn is delivered to Mason's home in a crate after being abducted and sold, she attacks Mason as soon as the crate is opened. Mason and Lyn's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Keira Blackwood in the future. Can't Prove Shift is book 1 of The Protectors Unlimited Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Misfortune that turns to fate Lyn, orphaned at a young age, then on her own from the age of 14, turned to cat burglar to survive. Though she’s a burglar, she’s doing her own thing with no one telling her what and where to do anything. Then one big mistake and trying to steal from the wrong person gets her caught, put in a box, and shipped off as a mail order bride. Mason, orphaned young but was picked up by the Tribunal. Trained by them from a young age to serve and protect all shifters. It’s a lifelong obligation to him. When a box gets misdelivered and ends up on his doorstep in the middle of nowhere Alaska, is where things really get interesting. Action, adventure, with a love story mixed in this well written self-contained story.

Misdelivered by Keira Blackwood is about an ocelot shifter who crosses the wrong person, and ends up sold in the shifter trafficking syndicate. But she is Misdelivered to the door of a polar bear, and her adventure begins there.
Ms. Blackwood has the ability to take a crazy situation, and make it work. She describes Masons snowy world, until you feel the cold. And the characters are real enough to touch.
Misdelivered is a wonderful 4.5 stars rounded to 5!!

This book starts out with Lyn trying to steal a piece of jewelry from a mafia crime boss. Unfortunately he catches her and the next thing you know she's waking up in a coffin-like box in a bridal gown but still drugged enough that she can't move. She ends up on a cold porch in Alaska. She assumes she's been delivered to a man who has purchased her, but when Mason opens the crate and finds her instead of a crate full of steaks, he goes back in his house and slams the door! Lyn is outraged but happy that she can escape. Thus starts a very odd journey of an ocelot and a polar bear, talk about the odd couple...a fun story to read.
Who is Lyn? What does she do for a living? What is the doing at this moment? Who is Salvatore? What predicament does Lyn find herself in? Who or what is the Sanguine Syndicate? Who is Mason? Where does Lyn unexpectedly find herself? When happens when the wolves come knockin' at the door? You really need to read this spinoff book from the Riverwood series. It was so much fun to read! What is Lynn? What is Mason? Read and find out!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
I was given an ARC and voluntarily choose to review. When orphan, street urchin who grew to became a cat burglar meets a Shifter loner and enforcer. By accident, by misdelivery. Things heat up despite the freezing temperatures. I can honestly say reading this book made me cold in a temperature kinda way. That vivid. Things are going to heat up further when she hasn't escaped the syndicate but that they're still after her. A touching love story and an action adventure rolled into one. An entertaining read. Totally recommended.
Two stars is generous. More of a 1.5 for me. This is meh. It’s quick, borderline a novella really. I didn’t care about either character and there are quick I Love You’s. If you are seeking a clean romance this isn’t it!
I am not compelled any way from this story to read anymore in this series. Honestly not sure I want to read anymore by this author. I have at least three other stories and I am struggling to decide to give them a chance.
YAY More of the Tribunal boys!!! I was so hoping that the author would give the remaining Tribunal members their mates. As usual there is suspense, action, danger romance and even a little bit of abduction in this story, you know the things that make you swoon to read a story! Oh and of course sexy shifter men finding their mates. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
Great start to for a new series. This was a interesting and entertaining read. I already know that I'm really going to enjoy this series that deals with the rest of the Tribunal brothers finding their mates. Looking forward to seeing what going to happen next in the series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC I haven't been compensated in any way.
This is a really good start to a new series. Lyn and Mason were great. I liked the idea of two different kind of shifters ending up together. There were some hot and steamy scenes between the two. I'm looking forward to the stories of the other Tribunal brothers. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
Another cutesy shifter story with an HEA. I liked the main characters, but felt the plot had a lot of holes & left unanswered questions. I did like the story, but wish the holes for this story had been filled in more. I did not read the previous series that other reviewers have mentioned the Blake's appearing in first. That being said, I wasn't really lost reading this, though.
Loved it! Proof that the right woman can tame the man! Full of danger, suspense, trouble, hope, and love! The characters are awesome a frighten but strong woman, a grumpy cantankerous man, evil wolf shifters, and a truly evil man. Together they can fight and conquer the evil stalking her! A surprise ending that will make you happy!
I have read all Keira's previous book and have really enjoyed them all.Mason's book I just loved it pulled me in right from the start and at times had me laughing out loud, but the line after he opened the crate made this my favorite 'I'd really hoped for beef'.Cannot wait for the next book.
Quick, fast, funny read about a pair of shifters with a happily ever after ending.
Lots of heat, a little action and romance sneaking in. The lady shifter is a city cat, and gets captured and dumped on the makes front porch in the depths of Alaska. Shift happens.
A nice story of two liner misfits finding a mate in each other. if your looking for sweet story, this is it. If your looking for steamy alpha male with raw passion, not gonna find it here.
A thief get caught and a mistake puts her with an unexpected house guest. With the bad guys back in the picture story has lots of action but the heat is there as well...and a nice HEA to complete the tale.
Lyn and Mason are so different from each other and yet very much alike. Their Insta-attraction is subtle as they get to know each other, but it was so sweet I just wanted to be in Lyn’s shoes. Loved this well written short tale.
