In the arid lands of Arizona, a guilt-ridden rancher protects a vulnerable young woman from a vicious outlaw.

A year after burying the last of his family, Texan rancher, Newton Tanner, sets out for Arizona to buy horses from the legendary horseman, Joey Thunder. The trip offers Newt a respite, both from the past and from the lonesomeness of the Tanner homestead.

He comes upon Joey, murdered, hanging in a tree a few miles from his cabin. Suddenly, the trip to buy horses takes on an unexpected danger.

Newton discovers Joey has been caring for two wards. Leah Anson and a mute boy. In Leah’s nineteen years she’s known nothing but hardship. Orphaned, and tricked into coming west, she’s sold to the outlaw Crocker gang. She escapes their sinister plans after shooting the notorious gang leader, in the head, point blank.

Nobody survives a gunshot to the head.

Nobody, except Rufe Crocker.

Crocker is ruthless, hell-bent on vengeance. He’s murdered the boy’s parents. He killed Joey. Now Crocker is hunting Leah.

Newton Tanner came to the territory looking for horses, not trouble. After finding Joey dead, he should have gone straight back to Jericho Springs. But he can’t leave now. Not when Crocker intends to hunt down a defenseless woman and child.

They need his protection. Very quickly he realizes he needs them, too.

*** The Long Way Home is book 2 in the Jericho Springs series of western novels. Each book is a standalone story. They can be read out of order, but reading experience is enhanced if the series is read consecutively. ***

If you enjoy a great western adventure then, than The Long Way Home is for your entertainment of a lifetime. Believe me when I say that the group of Newton, Harlan, Leah, and the exciting your man of the group, Master Tom will definitely create one of the most exciting adventure you have ever enjoyed. .

Definitely another five star masterpiece by an exceptionally talented author of great American folklore adventures that appeases the most demanding reader's desires. I was hooked within the first chapter of this amazing family-friendly and heartwarming adventure story. The characters were perfectly selected throughout this outstanding display of camaraderie and definitely entertaining episodes from beginning to end. Too, the storylines were perfectly selected for each and every individual, even the really bad guys.
I love Mr. Scott's uniqueness of maintaining his readers complete attention from the very beginning to the final word of the last chapter. I have read books one and, and looking forward to book three, and I complete this review. The compassion for Newton and Leah is certainly heartwarming and every episode is one adventurous excursion after The other. Too, Harlan leaves no stone unturned she he is in pursuit of the bad guys.
I certainly recommend this compassionate masterpiece to all readers loving exciting adventurous excursions, romantic overtures, and family-friendly, heartwarming adventures. There is enough suspenseful episodes to maintain your complete satisfaction from beginning to end! I would hope you have read book one before starting this one. They stand alone, but the first read is also worthy of you time.😇

THERE IS A ROSE GARDEN

A great story, started out sad and it got sadder. But with all ugly situations there is light at the end of the tunnel. Harlan and Newton childhood friends are starting a new chapter in their lives. This also includes Tommy the little boy who saw his parent murdered in front of him, causing Tom my to lose his voice due to trauma of seeing these horrific situation.
The author has promised more about Newton, Leah and Tommy on the BarrTT ranch. Newton is on the search for the predators who worked with Bannercock, who arranged all these so called adoptions for poor orphans...fast reading novel..

The Long Way Home (Jerico Springs Western Book 2)

Leah, Newton and Tom had a rather unique set of circumstances that brought them together. Murderers, outlaws, kidnapping and continuous shootouts kept me in my seat turning each page as fast as I could. This is the kind of western that I truly enjoy, fast action, great characters, and lots of tension to keep the pages turning. BRAVO 👏👏BRAVO. I'll be looking for more books from this author.

A Western Where Two Friends Look for Horses Find a Woman and Boy

SS has penned a western story with four different plots that blend into one. Orphans girls are sold as wives. Three are together until separated. Two men searching for horses find a woman under the watchful eye of four crooks. They rescue the woman and boy then return to the ranchers home. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Long way Home!

This was a sad story I have such dislike for people that take advantage of these children. I know it was done back in that time I also know it happens in today's time. Enjoyed the writing.

An entertaining and feel-good read. The best of the trilogy. The characters were more interesting. Although the "unkillable baddy" trope almost outstayed its welcome. The next (final) book is disappointing.
