When Prince Rakturan asks Amel to help him find allies in the war against the Ifrit invasion, Amel agrees to help. But when Amel’s companion puts her in an awkward debt bond and an ancient artifact seems to hold the key to success, can she do what it takes to overcome these new obstacles? Fans of Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon Riders of Pern and Christopher Paolini’s Eragon will love Dragon School.
ANCIENT ALLIES is episode fourteen of the completed series, Dragon School.

Oh goodness, I could never get bored of this short yet brilliant series
I beginning to think Sarah loves to keep her readers on the edge of their seats every Time! And I can honestly say, I'm absolutely loving with moment I get with these beloved characters ❤
Once again, Amel finds herself separated from her friends due to an urgent call from the Chosen One, Savette, who has asked Amel to take a message to Prince Rak, her husband, asking for more allies in fighting the Ifrits and the Dusk Covenant pronto
Amel must find him, with the help of Renn, to gather these allies as quickly as she can. And since she was given a gift from an ancient civilisation, a gift to see visions of the future and present times of her friends, she must work quickly to get them help before it is too late
There are many things that go wrong for Amel in this journey, for one she travels with Renn, who is a lightbringer like herself, yet he doesn't completely believe the prophecies. And he betrayed her in the previous novel So, Renn isn't a reliable companion to be with, yet Amel has no choice but to let him come along since he knows the native language and Amel doesn't
But when she actually finds allies, it seems they have asked for her much more than she wanted to give. But if it is the only way she can get Savette allies fast enough, what choice does she really have ?
This was one heck of a ride, I loved every moment, basically love this series and I will be sad when it is over but until then, I'll cherish every moment ❤❤
Received a copy from the author herself, via Booksprout, for an honest review, thank you!
With the end being in sight with the Dragon School series – if things go as planned, it is to finish after twenty of these little ‘episodes’ – I find myself desperate to see how everything ties together. I’m starting to hope for resolution, yet it appears more questions are still being added. Despite how much I’ve enjoyed this series, I do find myself nervous of how things will end.
Dragon School: First Flight, book one, sucked me completely into the world – it was so much more than I’d expected, and I couldn’t wait to get more. Dragon School: Initiate, book two, sucked me in even deeper – it showed me there was more to the story than I’d originally thought, ensuring I would pick up the next. Dragon School: The Dark Prince, book three, was a very important book in the series – it may not have been my favourite book, but it was vital to the overall story. Dragon School: The Ruby Isles, book four, continues to move things forward in a wonderful way – it may not be my favourite of the stories, but it is another important addition. Dragon School: Sword, book five, was another brilliant read, adding more to the series – it was also the book that reminded me why I was following the series in the first place, pulling me back in after a short hiatus.
Dragon School: Dusk Covenant, book six, added plenty of new twists – more than enough to ensure I remained ensnared with the story. Dragon School: First Message, book seven, brought even more to the table – more was added to the storyline, plenty of things leaving me curious as to what would come next. Dragon School: Warring Promises, book eight, left on a serious cliff-hanger – all the books leave on a cliff-hanger, but this was probably the biggest of them all. Dragon School: Prince of Dragons, book nine, was probably my least favourite of the series, but it continued to move things forward for us.
Dragon School: Dark Night, book ten, was one of my favourites in the series, increasing the level of intensity and leaving us with so many expectations. Dragon School: Bright Hopes, book eleven, was a pivotal book in the series, giving us so many new twists and making so many promises for the future. Dragon School: Mark of Loyalty, book twelve, blew all the prior books out of the water, earning it the label as my favourite in the series. Dragon School: Dire Quests, book thirteen, didn’t quite live up to the potential, but I did give it a rounded up three-point-five-star rating. Dragon School: Ancient Allies, book fourteen, was another rounded up rating.
Personally, I was a bit bored with Ancient Allies for quite a bit of this story. I enjoyed how we got to see even more of the world, with something new opening up, yet I feel as though we drifted a bit from the main storyline for too long. In many ways, I feel as though this book worked to open possibilities for the future series the author has planned for this world. It was fun to see more, I enjoyed how we got introduced to new aspects, but I was left with a lot of waiting for something to happen.
In fact, for most of this book I was considering rounding this rating down to a three-star rating. Were it not for the end, I would have done so. The last few chapters in this one gave us what we usually enjoy about this series – the new information with shock twists that throws us forward – but the majority of the book wasn’t up to the usual standard, at least in my mind. I’ve come to expect so much more from this series, and this one was simply enjoyable rather than the amazing addiction I’ve grown accustomed to.
My fingers are crossed we start to move towards some kind of conclusion over the next couple of books, without any more big plot twists being thrown in. As much as I’m enjoying the series, I feel as though if new things continue to be added, things will start to drag.
Another fun read, certainly worth it if you’re a fan of the Dragon School series, but it’s far from my favourite in the series.
Oh my goodness! What just happened?!!! I definitely felt as if my mind was blown haha. Amel what can i say? You are an AMAZING character. And Raolcan is forever my favorite dragon. This series is so addicting, and just keeps on getting better and better with each part. I can't stop saying how GOOD it is. Don't even think about it, just READ this series. It is so awesome. That ending left me wide eyed and wanting more as always. I can't believe the new character Jalla though... she gets on my nerves haha, and what she did in the end...totally made me mad. That's not hers! So as you can see, once u read this series you become very attached to the main character. And feel every single emotions. Author Sarah K. L. Wilson, is one kick ass writer! Highly highly recommend her series!
I love how with every installment the world and the customs start growing and how we’re discovering it together with Amel (from a safer position, luckily). (It also shows how important cultural knowledge is for diplomats, btw ;) ). I love how self secured Amel has become and how the relationship between her and Raolcan has changed. She is far more in control, of course she listens to him, but she’s the one deciding what she’s going to do). Up to the next one!
And the amazing Saga continues. Will Rakturan make it alive to retrieve the ancient artifact? Can Amel help him? Will they both survive? Will the Ifrits, the daemons, win? Find out and get the book. I hardly could put it down. But since it is short, and i love that, it's quick to read
High energy, action packed and thrilling adventure filled with danger, mystery and uncertain loyalties.... Highly enjoyed every heart pounding twist and turn in this dangerous fight to save the world from evil.
While I loved the story, Jalla made me want to smack her, or at the very least, stepped on by Raolcan! Thank goodness the next in the series is already available!!!
Wow…now I loved the ending of this book, but everything before it? I just didn’t really like where it was going. I guess I’m not a fan of Jalla or this strange city! Amel goes against everything in her heart and promises to go on a mission for Prince Rakturan. As she flies to find allies for the upcoming war she once again finds herself in some awkward and troubling situations. Surely she can get herself out of this, right? I’m definitely hooked and will be finishing this series no matter what because that ending was so much more than I expected. The author has thrown us a very, very unexpected twist! One I know will give Amel strength to keep going.
Dragon School: Ancient Allies is the fourteenth book in the Dragon School series.
So much going on this book I don't even know how to begin!!
At the request of Rakturan, Amel, along with Ren head to see his uncle in hopes of gaining more allies. However, along the way they stop to see some ancient relic. An ancient relic so powerful that many in Beijang have tried to free, consequently being driven insane or losing their lives. Touching the object, Ren is injured and falls unconcious. Amel, quickly arrives to where Rakturan's uncle is and there she is made slave by Jalla (spelling?). It is determined that whoever can free the relic among the dark and crescent prince shall be named ruler of all of Beijang. Rakturan naturally rises to the challenge and is amazing. However, as the day and night progresses, the final battle to pull the relic is between Amel and an infred. Both are pulled into the minds of various Lightbringers. Both fighting for control over the bodies, determining the fate and choices of each, and of the situation they suddenly find themselves in. Amel manages to finally free the relic, playing it on her lips; with a strong gust of wind the ifreds suddenly disappear; and Jalla snatches the relic from Amel's hands.
Now, as always, I cannot even begin to articulate just how good each chapter and book is. They are so fast paced and entertaining; always making me want to see what happens next with all the cliffhangers each chapter and book brings.
Here the book truly highlights just how important and heavy each decision each character makes is. I really can't emphasize just how HEAVY. Each decision truly does have the weight of the world and heavily affects the lives and decisions of others. It truly is such difficult decisions to make, and with the war going on. Damn. It really is just damn.
If I were Amel I would be afraid of f**** up. I mean, she has to put so much faith in what she will say, and in herself. She can't let herself falter for even a minute. Every decision has a heavy toll that truly will shift the tide of the war to their favor or to something so much worse. You can see it throughout the book and in her decsions - how the battle between the crescent prince and Rakturan to decide who will rule all of Beijang commenced, how Amel invadertently became Jalla's slave, and each decision she made against the Ifred within the minds of her friends.
Just so wild and actually really thought provoking. Each book almost always has a conplexity and deepness to it that really reflects the choices and situations in our world, I really feel.
Anyways, I look forward to the next book! I will truly be sad to see the series end!

I think it was a really bad idea to have such a long break between book 11 and all the others. Book 11 was epic and amazing and I know that the three books I've read now are the first episodes of a series after their mid season finale, but it takes me some time to get into the books again.
I still love Amel, the way her illness is portrayed, the role her crutch plays and the prejudice she faces. I still love Raolcan, who's the most amazing all knowing character in the whole wide world, with wits and sarcasm and a nice sense of humor. I love all the other characters, Savette and Lang. But that true spark that I felt while reading the first books is missing now.
It might have to do with the slight road trip vibes the last few books have. I hate road trips. It always feels like a writer coming up with as many possible detours as possible to make the story longer. I'm not saying they can't be interesting or fun or amusing. But they're not really my cup of tea.
That being said: Even with those minor complaints, I still think this series, and this book, is among the best I've read this year. It's amazingly well written, the world building is mind blowing, the characters are lovely and the story is gripping.
I can't wait to read on and I for sure can't wait for the season finale!
I totally adore this series and don’t understand how Sarah KL Wilson can keep up the high quality so consistently but she does. So here we are with two fantastic characters, Amel and Roalcan, a superb supporting cast and an equally superb continuation of a great story arc. The bottom line is pretty obvious: there is no way to do anything but give this ebook 5 stars. A wonderful series addition and a lot of fun. Can’t to much better than that in my opinion. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Most of this novel is spent in Baojang, though we do see glimpses of how things are faring over in the Dominion. I liked getting little glimpses into Baojang's culture, and some of the complicated relationships Rakturan has with his countrymen and even family.
The plot shifts to Amel trying to help Rakturan gain allies in his country, and then bring him back to the Dominion to help Savette. Interesting, but it did feel like a bit of a pause from the go-go-go this story has been so far, since we're removed from the main action. However, things pick up near the end with Rakturan pitted against another Baojang prince to see who gets to rule the land... I found the final chapters quite engaging and was desperately rooting for Amel & Rakturan!!
I can't figure out Renn, he seems a nice guy but then again, he brings Amel into hairy situations... Like in this episode where they are flying towards Rakturan's uncle to secure allies. But on the way, curiosity gets to Renn and Amel gets tricked when she tries to get help for Renn. We also meet Jalla, Rakturan's cousine. I like her, although she's the one tricking Amel. She could be a good match to Renn. This episode is full of excitement and battle, less physical but mentally and Amel once again gets a chance to show how much she loves the truth and light.
With Amel finding the path across the sea to Beijong, she can finally start trying to build allies for Savette’s and Raktoren’s causes. Though the task seems impossible, made worse by the poor decisions made by her newest companion, hope still remains. Until Amel becomes unwittingly tied to a family of Beijong. Things could be worse, but she does put herself (or perhaps Rak did) in a difficult situation. Despite the odds against them, Amel and Rak are able to push through to attempt to unite the people of Beijong so she can return to the Dominion. This episode is finally gripping enough to finish in one go, and can’t image what will happen next.
When you google (or learn in an English class in grade school) the elements of a book it says, "A story has five basic but important elements. These five components are: the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the resolution. These essential elements keep the story running smoothly and allow the action to develop in a logical way that the reader can follow."
In this series, we have characters, setting, a plot, and lots of conflicts. It's the resolution we seem to have an issue with in this series. There are many plot lines that open up in these "books" but they are rarely resolved at the end of a "book". The "book" just ends in the middle of the plot. I can't really recall if any plot lines are properly resolved at the end of a "book" because all of the "books" run together in my head as one giant plot that has yet to resolve despite being 15 in. I would like to know if there is an ending in sight or if this is going to be a Shade of Vampire situation where we go in 60 deep with no ending in sight. I gave up on those after 20 or so but I seem to recall a plot resolving every 3 books at least. Maybe in this series, a plot will resolve every 20?
With the emergence of an accident ally amel continues her journey to help Prince raj the allies bless amel, rak, and those that fight for ought with them with curtains of the present. Given a message to deliver from rak amel runs into some interesting circumstances how will she hemp her friends in the dominion??? I'm in love and can't wait till the next book wishing they cane closer together but so glad it doesn't take months or years. Counting the days and hours
The fight to save the Dominion is growing critical. Savette (the true Chosen One) and Prince Rasturan need more allies. Amel is sent as a messenger to Bao'hauld to enlist the help of Rasturan's uncle, Prince Gahteen, in an effort to unite the many princes of Baojang. This alliance is needed to build the army necessary to defeat the Dusk Covenant and the Ya'kar, and their underworld Ifrits. Unfortunately, a broken custom changes everything for Amel and her dragon, Raolcan.

In this latest epic adventure for Amel and her dragon Raolcan, they find themselves heading into unknown territory to find allies for the Chosen One and the Dominion! Amen has to dig deep within herself and she does! Delivering messages is not all that Amel Leafbrought has going on. She is powerful because she believes with all her heart! Not giving anything away in my review! This one is definitely a must read in this breathtaking series! Oh man what a wild ride!

Dragon School: Ancient Allies by Sarah K.L. Wilson is a very short instalment that continues this amazing series. A quick and easy read, it continues the story of Amel and Raolcan, and how best they face the different trials and challenges put in their way. With an excellent cast of supporting characters, it is action packed, fast paced, full of danger and mystery. The Author does not disappoint as she takes the reader once again on a fantastic journey with her well thought out and beloved characters. Recommended! I received a copy from Booksprout which I voluntarily reviewed.
Book fourteen in the serial for Dragon School and as always this author never disappoints! Amel and Raolcan are by far my favorite characters this year, they make this series so addicting. So much happens in this series that you just have to read them all. Amel has that fighting spirit that keeps her going and keeps me on the edge of my seat all the time! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Enjoyable, SHORT read. I feel the chapters are annoyingly short to the point that they disrupt the actual story. Its sad, I think these so called books would have been Soo much better if the author put in a real book series, like three of these short ones for one book. But it would also force her to work in the world more... I still gave it 3stars because I like the idea of not needing to be perfect and extremely beautiful, plus dragons have a lead role in the storyline.
So, this book was ok, but here the story slowed down here at the beginning, but let it pass and after some time the story will get into that pace we got used to in that series. So the second part of the story resued that book fro 3 stars review, as when events got faster everything went in GREAT pace that I love that stories for! More of the world is revealed to us so we can enjoy new places, characters and situations.
Amel takes us to Bao'hauld in search of allies. We meet some new characters. One of which is Jalla, and can I just say I don't like her at all. Hope she redeems herself in the next book. I liked the idea of the magical artifacts choosing the leader. It was a very interesting way to go about it.
Amel is heading to find Prince Rakturan's uncle and get more help. I don't like Jalla at all, and hope that she isn't as bad as I think she is. The Trogs are interesting and I want more. Getting to see bits and pieces of what the others are doing is interesting as well. I hope things are going to be ok with everyone, and that ending was...well it was an ending. I need more and soon, please!!!
I've run out of superlatives to describe the writings of Sarah K.L. Wilson. Another amazing read in The Dragon School! It’s all coming to a head & I can’t wait for the next book to come out, although when completed I can see this being republished as an epic with each book being a chapter. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)
Dragon School Ancient Allies is mind blowing. I said OMG I don't know how many times when I was reading it. Amel has been gifted with the gift of visions and has to help Rakturan retrieve a ancient device important to his people but there is a twist to the storyline. This series just keeps getting better and better.
The Prince asks for her help to find allies to help defeat their enemies she agrees but it will not be easy. Her companion puts her into a no win situation and she has to do a bond debt. What is the bond debt? What will it mean for their tasks? Will it help them? There is only one way to find out read

I received an advance readers copy of this book and I freely give my review. I loved this latest book in the series. Amel is sent by Rakturan to see his uncle, hopefully to get him as an ally. Although Amel is declared to be a slave, she gets everyone at the required place for a showdown between the forces of good and evil in Baojang. The whole book is action from beginning to end.
Another exciting installment in this wonderful short story series. Amel and Raolcan are on their quest for allies for the Light. Can Amel and Raolcan complete their mission or will being made a slave impede it? I enjoyed this story very much and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Amel finds herself far from her friends in a pursuit of allies against their enemies, including the terrible Ifrits. With the help of the dragons and the Troglodytes, can they win? Fast paced action with a great plot and characters. Loved it! I received a complimentary copy and freely give my honest review.
