Lisa Jackson is the number-one New York Times bestselling author of over ninety-five novels, including the Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya Series, the Pescoli and Alvarez Series, the Savannah series, and numerous stand alone novels. She also is the co-author of One Last Breath, Last Girl Standing, and the Colony Series, written with her sister and bestselling author Nancy Bush, as well as the collaborative novels Sinister and Ominous, written with Nancy Bush and Rosalind Noonan. There are over thirty million copies of her novels in print and her writing has been translated into twenty languages.

Before she became a nationally bestselling author, she was a mother struggling to keep food on the table by writing novels, hoping against hope that someone would pay her for them. Today, neck deep in murder, her books appear on The New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly national bestseller lists.

With dozens of bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity—and back—in novels that buzz with dangerous secrets and deadly passions. She continues to be fascinated by the minds and motives of both her killers and their pursuers—the personal, the professional, and the downright twisted. As she builds the puzzle of relationships, actions, clues, lies, and personal histories that haunt her protagonists, she must also confront the fear and terror faced by her victims and the harsh and enduring truth that, in the real world, terror and madness touch far too many lives and families.

What will an iron handed parent do to his children to insure they do what he feels is best for them? When Jonah dies his three children, Max, Jenner and Casey must confront the secrets that revel just what he has done. Now, each has to decide how to live with the past or correct it. In addition, even with Jonah dead, someone still is out to harm the McKee family.

Jenner McKee is injured in a fire that appears to be arson. His grandmother is sure that the only way to help Jenner is to reunite him with the son he never knew he had. Beth and Cody have been summoned by Mavis and Beth fears that the McKee family will take her son away from her. A bigger fear is that Jenner still holds a piece of her heart. The murderer makes another attempt.

I had a bit of an 'continuity' issue with this book. In the first book, it's mentioned that the jerk father had broken up Jenner and the woman he loved - Beth.
But in this book, Jenner and Beth had only spent one night together and he didn't remember her at all.
That kind of thing makes me crazy.

This book was ok but it really was too similar to the first one in the series and I started noticing key phrases for everything. It felt like they cut and pasted from the first book to this one.

Utter bunk...Has Jackson lost her mind?! Rich people get paternity tests (even poor mere mortals would have one done)! End of story! No one in their right mind would continue to dilly-dally with whether or not a child is their own when millions are at stake. Just plain silly and insulting! Jenner and Beth are both walking disasters (Cody deserves better). The meddling by Beth's mother, Jenner's mother and grandmother and brother Max isn't even interesting enough to salvage this stupid-sappy-soapy hot mess...*sigh*...Well unfortunately I signed on to read all three of these silly stories as part of a book group, so on to C is for Cowboy so I can be done with this mess!

WAY TOO MUCH ROMANCE! I don't mind if the characters fall in love during a good mystery, but don't leave out the mystery!
