ASIN moved to this edition I’m high on her, flying. Consumed by Colby Harlowe in a way I’ve wanted since that afternoon in Kona.
Until tonight, I didn’t believe it would happen. I swore I wouldn’t let it.
“What took us so long?” she whispers.
Suddenly, I have no idea.
COLBY:
Orion Walker is many things.
Breathtaking. Brooding. A quiet but unstoppable force, drawing me closer.
Graphic designer. Single father. One of many who lived because my cousin didn’t.
The night she died, I learned an imperative lesson: the need to keep my stupid mouth shut.
People have told me my entire life I’m too blunt—socially inept. Maybe it’s time I listen.
Maybe then I’ll have a shot with the guy who loathed me at first sight.
ORION:
Colby Harlowe has many problems.
Way too blunt. Doesn’t know how to talk to people. Grates my nerves like somebody’s paying her to do it.
But, God—she’s beautiful. Sweet, funny. Brutally honest, a quality I both hate and admire. If it was just me, I’d go after her in one stuttering heartbeat.
But it’s not just me. My daughter is Priority One.
I’m not looking for a girlfriend. I’m looking for London’s new mom. The day we met, I knew that search couldn’t possibly end with Colby.
Then we meet again. And the closer she gets to me, the closer she gets to my kid...or, maybe, the other way around.
She’s not at all what I’m looking for.
Which is exactly why I can’t stay away.

When We Break is a slow-burning standalone romance with an HEA. It’s the final book in the Love in Kona series by Piper Lennox, which can be read in any order.
Love in Kona Series: Pull Me Under Crash Around Me When We Break
Please be advised: this novel contains intimate scenes some readers may not find suitable.
Piper Lennox is the author of New Adult and Contemporary romance novels Darling, All at Once (an Amazon Top 100 Bestseller), Fake Halo, The Midwife's Playlist, and more.
Her books have sexy and broken heroes, feisty heroines, and beautifully real, flawed people falling in out-of-this-world love. For all the tears, there's always laughter, irresistible heat...and, of course, a happily-ever-after worth melting over.
Piper lives in Virginia with her husband, kids, and a Siberian Husky way too smart for his own good. Before she spent her days writing about life and love, she wrote copy for insurance companies. And she will never, ever go back.
I will have to say that this is my favorite one of the trilogy. Although I haven't read the second one yet. This was a deep but wonderful story. They met in a weird way. However, they both had some issues in life. Thankfully they were able to meet and enjoy life together.
This is the third book in the Love in Kona Series (though each is a stand alone.) This book has all new characters and really isn't involved with the island, other than it is the heroine's hometown. Most of the book takes place on the mainland (Cali to be precise.) There are some characters mentioned and events that happen, that were in the previous book, Crash Around Me, that clear up somethings that happened in that book, if you've read it, but has no real bearing on this book. You do not need to read either of the previous two books to follow this one.
She left the island to go to school and make it on her own. She didn't want things handed to her because of who her parents are, and there's an even bigger reason she didn't want to return. He is on the island, reluctantly, in honor of the person he owes his life to. Both are down and not really feeling the celebratory vibe when they meet. They hit it off, but he has his walls up and won't let anyone get too close. Both have personal issues they need to fight through if they want to have a chance at a lasting relationship. His character is one of those that you feel bad for him and what he is going through, but at the same time, you wanna smack him upside the head. She is strong willed and a tell it like it is, which is part of her problem... that behavior gets her into more trouble than not. Honest to a fault.
The main supporting characters are a hoot, and help move the two in the right direction. There are a few laughs, but more subdued and emotional scenes. A couple teary eyed scenes as well. It's easy to read. Flows smoothly. Fairly quick read too. There is some sexual content, but it is minimal. There is some mention of drug use, domestic violence and sexual assault, which may be triggers for some, but it isn't the core of the book and only plays a small part.
I read an advanced copy of When We Break by Piper Lennox & holy feelings! It is listed as the third installment of the Love in Kona series but, having not read any of the previous books, it read perfectly as a standalone with out any confusion or feeling of missed history. Lennox does a fabulous job in developing the main characters, Colby & Orion, to the point where the reader feels a deep connection and understanding for both of them. But, this isn’t your cliché, sweep you off your feet, fairytale romance. Colby & Orion have both LIVED in that way that either totally changes or fully cements who we are - for better or worse. They’ve both lived through unimaginable pain and heart shattering disappointments along with all of the subsequent walls that get put up. Both of them seem to live in a constant state of waiting for the other shoe to drop (as it had so many times before) so, as you might guess, their love story is a roller coaster ride. The kind of ride that you really want to go on yet, once it is finally your turn, you freak & start to consider backing out. In the end, those rides are the ones you remember. That high once it ends that makes you want to do it again & again makes the initial panic so worth it. The trajectory of When We Break feels just like that. Everyone loves a good fairytale but, at this point in my life, I know that real life is less fairy godmothers and wishing on stars to make your dreams come true & more about sweeping up the pieces and grinding them into your own pixie dust. I so appreciate authors like Lennox that dare to go beyond the surface to give us complex characters & stories that demonstrate this. As soon as I finished this, I immediately downloaded other books by Piper Lennox. If they’re anything like When We Break, I might have found a new favorite author.
When We Break by Piper Lennox ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Colby Harlowe still mourns the death of her cousin/best friend Eden. And she doesn't like the idea of having a party/get together with all the Eden's organ recipients. While at the affair, she meets Orion Walker, a kidney recipient, who doesn't really want to be there either. Turns out these two met previously in a different situation with Orion's six year old daughter, London. This is a rather gut-wrenching story because of the organ donor aspect, but rather uplifting in that people's lives have been saved in so many ways. Colby is considered to be a loudmouth with who lacks tact, and people skills. But she's a very likable protagonist. Orion, on the other hand is very regimented and is looking for a mother for his daughter, not a lover. The two clash on many things, but they're still attracted to each other, and Colby just loves London., whom she met at the vets office she where she's a receptionist. But can the three, plus Orion's bestie Walt, craft a relationship? Or will Orion overthink the situation and get in his own way? The whole story, besides being about the transplants, is a sweet and heart squeezing story of letting go and letting in. I loved the characterizations in the story, especially Walt and London. Ups and downs and in and outs, this story has it all. I voluntarily reviewed Advance Readers Copy after receiving a free copy.
Can life’s obstacles be surmounted I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my 4th book by Piper and I love an author who writes in dual point of view. Colby returns home to Kona, Hawaii for her cousin’s memorial that is being attended by recipients of her organs. Orion, the owner of a kidney, breaks when he sees the mother look into the recipient of her daughter’s eyes and heads outside. Colby see Orion’s panic and offers him a rescue candy as she calls them. They spend time talking and walking outside when Orion recognizes Colby as the vet receptionist who was against his parenting beliefs when Orion and his daughter, London brought a bleeding stray cat into the vet. When Colby meets the donor of her cousin’s eyes, she has a panic attack. Now it’s Orion to the rescue to calm Colby down. When things almost get to the point of a kiss, Orion backs off and they end their evening. Both back on the mainland, Colby ends up moving into the same apartment complex where Orion lives. When Orion needs a babysitter for London and Colby needs to make extra money to go to Vet School, it’s like fate falling into place. Will Orion’s issues get the better of him? Will Colby fight to stay with Orion? You have to read to find out and will enjoy the story along the way of meddling roommates and seeing life through the eye of a child.
When We Break (Love in Kona Book 3) by Piper Lennox is another emotional journey for two young people dealing with hardships that leave seious emotional scars. Orion and Colby suffer from their own emotional baggage, vulnerabilities and flaws. Orion is the strong, mature young man many would hope their son's will become. Colby is fiercely independent and extremely blunt, but totally honest. The secondary characters, Walt, Clara and Georgia are a hoot and definetely add some levity. Their larger than life personalities compliment the more serious Orion and Colby. Although, they manage to have some fun too! How could they not, London is absolutely adorable! I really enjoyed the character's storylines, how they came to know each other, accept each other for how and who they are and developed/grew their friendship into something meaningful. Very well written overall, this book will tug at your heartstrings in more than one way, but ultimately leave you smiling with a fitting HEA for Orion, Colby and the Love in Kona series.

I haven't read the other books in this series, but I really liked this book. Orion and Colby had a connection that most people don't, he received her cousin's kidney. Going through what he did, he had certain ideas about the woman he wanted for his daughter's mother. I really liked how they took things show, even denying that they like each other. Just when they make strides in their personal relationship, instead of as babysitter and dad, things go horribly wrong. She makes a mistake, he finds out done potentially bad news, and things are said. Is there any way Orion can make it up to Colby, or will she leave for good? Is there anything Colby can do to prove she is in it for the long haul? I even his roommate and how honest and hurt he was when Orion tells him the plan for his daughter. I highly recommend this to and will definitely read more by this author. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
So I’m not sure how I felt about this in the Beginning. I mean I’m all for organ donors and all that but I’m still undecided about meeting the spouse or family afterwards.
But with Orion and Colby somehow with them two meeting each other I feel like maybe it was meant to be.
Orion is looking to complete his family by finding a woman who can accept him and his daughter. His best friend Walt is a trip and I adore him. It’s like he was meant to be in Orion’s life just to keep his head on his shoulders.
Colby wants to live her life and do what she wants without her family getting in the way and with them paying for things. She had an awesome relationship with her cousin until she met someone who changed her and took her away.
It was good story that I felt maybe could have sped up a little but overall a good one and I enjoyed it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book with no requirement for leaving a review. This review is being left voluntarily and any and all opinions are my honest thoughts on this book and/or the authors work. This is the last book in a series of three standalone novels. This story centers around Colby, Orion and Orion's daughter London. There is an intoxicating chemistry between Colby and Orion with a slow building romance between them. This is a story filled with all the feels. You will get a workout from all your emotions that are touched in this book. Loved the beautiful and wonderfully written ending. This is a strong book. One click worthy all the way.

This is my first book by Piper Lennox and I absolutely loved it. I will make sure to read the other two books in the series. When We Break is a very emotional read about Orion a single father that had his daughter at a very young age, who is looking for a mother for his daughter. Colby has moved to California from Hawaii to study vet school and prove to herself and everyone else that she can do it on her own instead of having everything handed to her. Colby is outspoken and says whats on her mind even. Well written storyline with wonderful main and secondary characters that make this an entertaining and heart warming read. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
I’ve never read anything by this author of a car and I must say I’m truly amazed how much I love this book! I was given a copy of this Book and I’m choosing to leave an honest review them. You fall in love with Colby and hurt with her over her cousin’s death Your overjoyed when she meets Orion that took finally have some happiness. Of course like all storylines and doesn’t always work out that way for a while.
London what an amazing child and she takes instantly to Colby and Colby falls completely in love with her. Of course there’s twist interns in all storylines with this book is strictly amazing
I thought this was a great read. It read better than the other Kona series books actually. Colby chances on a meeting with Orion as he got an organ from Colby's dead cousin. She struggles with finding tact, financing her dreams of going to vet school, and family pressures for her to move back home. Orion is a single dad who hasn't had a date because he wants a mom for his daughter and no one has fit the bill yet. I liked how we got to see Colby and Orion build their relationship from the ground up. It's great to see characters with flaws-it made the book seem more genuine. Loved the voice used in the book too. Definitely not a quick love story but flows with ease.
This is the first book I've read from this author, I really enjoyed it,,,,,
This was a very good book,,, I loved the characters,,,,the twists and turns in the book had me not wanting to out it down,,,a well written book,,,this is a part of a series, but truthfully, each can be a standalone,,,,, I would so recommend

This is the third and final book in the Love In Kona series and can be read as a standalone. This book doesn't take place on the island like the other two. Colby and Orion will take you on an emotional roller coaster in more ways than one. She wasn't what he was looking for but turned out to be what they needed. A good book that was entertaining to read. I read an arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review.
This was a sweet romance far from erotica which it was classified as. The story was cute and love prevailed. The story was unique but a little farfetched when if comes to donor recipients meeting their donor's family members and even more re-connecting in a good size city. I still enjoyed book, just not enough heat for my taste is all.
First time reading Piper Lennox's book. Grab a couple of tissues before you sit down to read this. A beautifully written love other between two souls suffering loss. I loved the way Walt manipulates his best friend Orion so that we finally get our happily ever after .London is so adorable I'm happy she gets a second chance in finally having a mum to love her in Colby.
A tragic event brings these 2 characters together. I loved the story of Orion a single father and Colby a young woman trying to get over the tragic death of her cousin. This book will bring so much tears but so much laughter and love.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved the chemistry between Orion and Colby and the way their relationship evolved. This story was emotional, well written and ended beautifully. I recommend the series.

Colby and Orion’s story was filled with so much emotion. Both struggling to get by. Unhappy and alone. What they find in each other Was so much more than love...a way to move on and be happy. Their journey was a great story to read.
The third book in this trilogy goes deep. It’s emotional and heartbreaking. The past not only haunts Orion and Colby, it lives with them each and every day. It’s a fight to get to happily ever after but so worth it.
Sexy, emotional, and heartfelt! I have not read any of the previous books. That being said, I didn’t feel like I missed anything. The story was great, but there was just something about Colby and Orion that drew me in and kept me riveted. The chemistry and connection was intense. I really enjoyed Orion’s friendship with Walt. This book had more that a few “tissue box” moments. Loved the epilogue!

I now need to go back and read the first two in this series!!
Colby moved to California hoping for a better life than what she had back in Kona. When tragedy strikes and she loses her only friend her life takes a turn she wasn’t expecting. A year after her cousins death she is back in Kona at her mothers request for a gathering. It’s there where she is reunited with someone she met a year ago at work.
Orion is in Kona to attend a gathering for a young woman’s organ recipients. Shortly after arriving he starts to have a panic attack and steps outside to calm down. It’s here that Colby walks up to him and starts talking to him. When he finally figures out just who she is he can’t help but be drawn to her, he just didn’t how much his life would be flipped upside down.
I can completely understand Orion’s feelings in this book. Actually I can relate to some of it as if this was a story about my life. I would love to see more of Orion and Colby, to see how they grow together and with London.
I voluntarily read When We Break by Piper Lennox. The storylines and characters were well written. The male character sounded very sexy. I recommend reading this book. I liked this book and this author. I hated for the story to end.
