Danielle - What’s that saying? When life hands you lemons… What if I don’t want to make a damn lemonade? What if I want to crush the stupid things and pummel them into non-existence? Anything is better than admitting that I really, desperately, want a taste of that sweet, sweet lemonade. That’s exactly how I felt when my PR assignment threw me in the direction of Miller Cain. My body screams for him while my brain is telling me to run for the damn hills. He is the captain of the Ice Hockey Team, a player with a cocky reputation, a sweet talker and all-around bad boy who promises to take me for the ride of my life. He is bad for my health. I just need to last one year without falling into his bed. What happens when he tries to break down my walls?
Miller - She came crashing into my world like a damn tornado. Sexy as Hell and an absolute firecracker with deadly green eyes. I want her, in fact, I need her and I will do whatever it takes to get her. She doesn’t know it yet, but she is mine.
WARNING: Miller is a steamy romance with a HEA and NO CLIFFHANGER. It contains sexual content and coarse language and is recommended for mature readers. Please be aware that some scenes may cause stress for some readers.
This was absolutely amazing! These people were put through the ringer and still came out on too. Miller is now my new favorite book boyfriend for sure! Ahh he's the best! This book had it all and man was it HOT 🔥! The dream team took me to a whole new place. I love the dynamics of the two couples! The girls were so hardcore and the alphas were the best! I can't say enough good things about this book and can't wait to read Jaxon's story!
3.5. Not bad. Liked it enough to start the next in the series. This book just has one of my biggest pet peeves. What country is this in? The title says Denver. The hockey team plays LA & Chicago. But, their dialogue is Australian! We don’t say mum. We wear pajamas. Our cars have tires. What are red frogs? It’s confusing and distracting. It takes away from the flow of a book. I’m prepared for this going into the next book so I hopefully won’t be as distracted by it. Hopefully an editor fixed that issue somewhere down the line in this series.
Thoroughly enjoyed this little gem. Miller was the sexiest, sweetest character ever. I could totally relate to Dani, I think we’ve all dated a bad egg at some point. Sophie cracked me up, and Tank was adorable but in a big burly kinda way. Sheridan Anne is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.
The plot and characters were interesting, but kind of bland. I found the major events to be rushed, and the character's reactions under-developed at best and atypical at worst. Lack of editing and unfamiliarity with cultural idioms and vernacular actually made the story frustrating to read. A near miss for me.
I am a huge sucker of college sport romances. I don’t know why but I fucking love them. I am always trying to find that hidden gem in this genre and this is definitely an underrated book. I will say that it is definitely an easy read, it has some typos (which do not bother me) , but the storyline was good, the build up was good, both MCs were awesome. The sex scenes were awesome ( and I am a very picky judge of sexy scenes In books) . There is some angst there is some heartbreak but by God this book sucked me in and I couldn’t stop reading it. There was really nothing I did not like which is very rare. Again I am a picky bitch. I am reading Jaxon now.
How does this book have such great reviews?! I couldn't get through chapter 4 (12% in).
So Jock dude thinks journalist girl is hot, flirts, and writes his phone number on her arm with a permanent marker even though she didn't ask for it. Really? Journalist girl thinks the way to sell the team with a bad reputation for fighting and drinking is to make calendars of the team scantily clad, write Hottie of the week articles, and have a guy auction. Way to go journalist - that's the way to represent a sports team and improve their reputation (sarcasm).
This is so superficial and dumb that I can't continue it.
Author is not an American or familiar with terminology used in the US. We do not use the term "lounge" when we mean living room So it's awkward.
I like the hockey game terminology in the story but I think most hockey players use agents to handle contracts or the very least a lawyer.
I think there was some story arcs that made story very exciting/sad/interesting but I was always thinking less of a story not properly handled as a story set in the United States. So I didn't hate it just felt off.
The story of PR student Dani and hockey player Miller. This was an ok read but I felt it lacked something for me. I am trying to work it out as really it has all the trophes I love.
College romance. Sports-themed. Hot jocks. Team camaraderie. Good side characters. Good college atmosphere.
So why only three stars?
Dani and BFF Sophie are tasked with a college project to work on the hockey team’s PR. I wanted more depth to this. I wanted to know what they wrote in their articles. It all felt a bit surface level. I wanted more! I felt this could have developed into some nice events in the book. The calendar and the auction were great. I wanted more of that. But that’s just me.
I also felt Dani was a bit too hot. She was hot, he was hot. He wants her, she wants him. It’s a slow burn in that Dani fights the attraction but it just felt a bit... inevitable. A done deal. I like a bit more push/pull. I like a non-perfect heroine. Maybe a bit geeky or non-traditional beauty. Or they wear glasses or cardigans. Something that means their beauty grows on the H. They reveal themselves.
I also felt that for a hockey team in active training, they ate badly, drank too much and went out too much. There’s a point where as top athletes in training for such a big career, it starts to be unbelievable. I just wanted to shout at them sometimes.
But my biggest gripe was the angstometer. It was high drama! Sad drama. I am just not into sad drama. I try to avoid it but I know many readers love it as it adds depth and poignancy to the story. It just makes me feel emotionally wrung out.
I would point out that this book does come with a trigger warning which I gaily skipped over. There is a sexual assault which I could have done with being less... just less!
This book was not for me, but I can see that others might love it.
Bad writing style The flow was very awkward because of unvaried sentence structure. There's a lot of, "I [action #1]...Then, I [action #2]. After, I [action #3]." This only made the characters come off bland and did not create a narrative. Instead, the story reads like a tutorial or a quick summary of events. Inconsistent - Dialogue seems to be Australian, despite this taking place in the U.S.
Grammatical errors Usually I can get past this but there were a number of misspelled words. For instance, "Coz vs. Cause", "Doe vs. dough". It seems like this wasn't proofread... There's a lack of formal or descriptive vocabulary but also, overused terms such as "smirk".
Characters Dani (heroine) + Miller (hero) They're too bland for me to even have an opinion of them LOL. The author really failed to present the maturity and depth of these characters in a college setting. Context seems more fitting in a high school setting with every other chapter having a PARTY scene.
Relationship Hero and heroine lacked chemistry. Their relationship felt very superficial.
Premise Storyline was very fast paced but only got messier with the number of events the author tried to incorporate. It felt like the author tried to make the story more interesting by throwing in some "twists" but lacked the proper build up for suspense and the events that occurred aren't further elaborated.
Blurb: Danielle - What’s that saying?
>Book Review – Miller >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Kings of Denver series and ends in an HEA. Dani and Sophie are college roommates. They are assigned a class project to work on the PR of one of the school’s sports teams. They were assigned the hockey team. The hockey players are roped into an auction and a sexy calendar. The descriptions of the calendar shots were very erotic. I did have a hard time believing the college would okay a nude photo shoot, though. >Miller and Tank are the “Dream Team” of the hockey team. Tank falls for the queen of one night stands – Sophie. Miller wants to be with Dani, but Dani has an abusive ex and is wary of a new relationship. The abusive ex plays a big part in cementing the relationship between Miller and Dani. The police are portrayed as very caring in this story, which is refreshing. >I love that this book is a sports romance with actual descriptions of the sport in it. Hockey is exciting and fast paced. The descriptions of the game showed how much love Miller and Tank have for the game. The description of all of the work the guys have to put in show how hard it is to be a college athlete. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 4 stars. The story lost a star only due to poor editing. Incorrect words that spell check alone would not catch were used. For example, the word “there’ is used in place of the correct word, “their”. This book is a great read and deserved to have the proper care taken in its editing.

3,5 stars for an ice hockey hottie finding true love. There was enough drama around Miller and Danielle to keep me entertained and let me read the story on one sitting. There wasn't too much drama to let me roll my eyes and put it down. There were just some little things that made me loose connection in between. I really really appreciate that they needed and got time to fall in love with each other. Not one of that 3 days later it's undying love. Well done to ceremonylessly spread it out effortlessly over months. Their dialogues were sometimes amazing sometimes weird. I can't pinpoint examples but It was like waves of excitement and loosing focus. Last but not least some things just didn't ad up. Like the fact that Danielle couldn't afford to travel home in months but had at least 5 little black dresses and a red one in her student wardrobe and her mother spent thousands of dollars on an auctioned date. Also that Miller broke down so hard about an unexpected event but was focused and calm five to six days later. I was mildly confused and didn't ask further to keep going. But in the end I loved the chemistry, want to know more about the other guys and will keep coming back.
Awesome introduction to a great sports romance series
This was my first time reading Sheridan Anne and I am so glad I did. I am a fan of sports romance and this book gave me so many feels. I really enjoyed meeting the main characters in the story, Dani, and Miller. One PR assignment forced these two to meet and their chemistry was hot.
Miller is the caption of the Dragons hockey teams, a playboy, and looking to make it to the NHL. He doesn't need any distractions that could possibly interfere with his dreams of becoming a professional hockey player. Then, he meets Dani. She is a student who is assigned to create buzz for The Dragons hockey team. She has just gotten out of a rough relationship and isn't looking to open up her heart any time soon.
The journey these two take to opening up and finding love is beautiful to read about. There were good and bad times, but that's what a relationship is. I am excited to read more of this author's work and more in this Kings of Denver series.
Dani is getting over an abusive relationship and has no intentions of starting a new relationship any time soon. Miller is Captain of the Denver Dragons and dreams of being in the NHL. He is the campus playboy and has no desire to change that. Dani gets an assignment from her communications class that involves her and her best friend, Sophie following a college sports team for their season and doing a weekly article with photos. The girls plan to help restore the Denver Dragons to the status of Kings of the campus with some PR and awesome articles with great photos to kill their assignment. When Miller sees Dani for the first time he knows he wants her in his bed, but Dani's not going to be that easy. Is Miller willing to work for it? Is he willing to enter a relationship? Cause that's probably the only way he'll get Dani. Is Dani even ready for a relationship? Will things even work out? What with Dani's crazy ex and the championships, things are not ideal. Grab this wonderful book today and find out what happens.
Miller Cain is a hockey player and a playboy. Dani is a student and her professor gave her an assignment to cover the news for the hockey games. When Miller sees Dani he knows she's different. Will Dani be able to see past the playboy and open her heart again after her faith in the opposite sex has been demolished? Will Miller really be able to change his ways and become a one woman man? This an amazing story with twists and turns that keep you interested. The crazy ex that will stop at nothing., several trips to the police station and even the passing of a loved one that they need to endure. This is truly a story of a couple that can withstand everything and their love gets stronger every day. ( the secondary characters were really intriguing as well. Best friends with Miller and Dani, Sophie and Tank are really a spectacular couple. )
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first Book in the Kings of Denver series, but can totally be read as standalone.
Danielle and her best friend Sophie get asigned a new project in their communications class. Promote the famous but not so popular Hockey team , the Denver Dragons. Ofc that means a lot of contact with the team members, especially Miller, the team captain who instantly has his eyes drawn to Danielle who is by no means immune to his charms, but shadows of her past still hunt her.
This book is in many ways exactly what u expect of a good romance novel. Its an enjoyable read with a nice flow, good developed story line, interesting charakters, some hot moments and a touch of humor. I liked the ideas Danni and Sophie came up with to promote the team ;)
If you like sport romances, im sure you will enjoy this book.
I’m hovering at 3.5 stars for this one. I enjoyed it, it was better than just good, but didn’t quite make it into “I love this book!” I enjoyed the characters and how their relationship developed. I even cried more than once. But, there was a couple of times where I wondered where things were going and what the point of certain passages were. Though that being said, it did become clear without making me wait too long. There was also a couple of things that felt like they could have been more involved or intense. Like plot devices that served a purpose but didn’t want to be too much of a downer. Which I don’t really mind, it just gave me that NA book feel. Overall it was nice to read. I finished it in a day. I enjoyed it enough that I want to continue with the rest of the series as well.
Blissfully free of a third act breakup, which istg I will always point out because it's a trope I love to hate. I love that these two were so supportive of each other and looked to each other for comfort in hard times instead of pushing each other away. This is such a great relationship. A lot happened, and some things seemed to get resolved a little too neatly, if you know what I mean, but I loved seeing these two support each other through it all.
I also loved seeing Sophie and Tank's relationship grow alongside the main characters' relationship as the book goes on. It's like a two for one romance.
No cheating. TW for sexual assault and abuse by the FMC's ex. Lots of spelling and grammar errors, and I usually don't note them when I see them, which means it happened a lot in this book.
I’m a hoe for a hockey romance and this book delivered!
I was immediately hooked from the start and did not stop until the very last page. I loved Miller and how confident he was. He was a jock but he wasn’t a massive douche or anything he was actually so sweet and HOT!
Dani was the perfect match for Miller. She didn’t fall at his feet because he was hockey captain, she fell in love with him because he didn’t give up and proved they were made for each other
Here we get introduced to so many great characters. The top 4 are Miller, Tank, Dani, and Sophie. However the main 2 this is really about are Miller and Dani. Miller is the captain of the Dragons and Tank is right hand guy and together they made up the Dream Team. Dani and Sophie are best friends and tasked with a class project to promote the colleges hockey team for 50% of their yearly grade. This is how the girls end up meeting the boys. However, we see Tank and Sophie meet right before that without knowing one another. So imagine Sophie's surprise when they meet the team and she realizes Tank is on the team. Miller is a playboy who chases Dani and she eventually gives in to him. We watch these two fall in love. Super cute couple, and great start to this 4 book series.
This is my first book by Sheridan Anne and I am hooked! I absolutely loved the story of Miller and Dani. This is a book that kept me flipping the pages as fast as I could. There were a few surprises that I didn’t see coming. This book is mainly about Miller and Dani, but we get to meet Sophie and Tank, their best friends. We also meet some more of the guy’s teammates. If you’re looking for a new author, then I highly recommend this author. This book is a steamy read full of love and friendship. No spoilers, so do yourself a favor and go grab your copy.
This book develops the relationship between Miller (Team Captain of the Denver Dragons) and Dani, in a slower, more realistic fashion. It doesn't feel rushed like so many romance novels. I like that Dani played hard to get and made Miller work for it. The author lets us get to know the inner workings of both characters as well as Sophie and Tank. (a future story I hope). We get to see their baggage and also their good points. I was delighted and saddened by the twists and turns along the road and the ending made my heart happy. What more can a reader ask from a romance story? I plan on working my way through the novels in this series!
I love Sheridan Anne’s work and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. Like OMG Miller… I feel like that is all I have to say. Miller wanted Dani physically from the moment he laid eyes on her, and she didn’t really bother with it because of the past she has. But Miller being persistent she finally gave into him and then they both realize how perfect they were for each other. I loved Dani and Miller’s love story, this book had me going through the emotions all the way up until the epilogue which didn’t disappoint. I read Miller all in one day just because I needed to know what happened next. I mean who doesn’t love a cocky hot hockey player… I can’t wait to read the next one.
I wanted to like this series so much! However, I just couldn't get through all the grammatical errors and the incorrect verbage used in common idioms. The story also doesn't flow well. There are huge time jumps that aren't necessary and I feel like they often occur before the author is finished with her thought. Some of her dialogue isn't believable and comes off as juvenile and a little silly. Even though I couldn't finish the first book, I do feel like the story had potential, so I gave it two stars. The writer needs to focus on how she is presenting the intelligence and maturity level of these characters and find a better editor.
I started the book and just kept saying to myself – OK one more chapter and whoops I finished the book and everything else I should have done today is still waiting for me. I didn’t expect to get so reeled in by this book, but I just couldn’t help it. Miller and Dani were great, as well as their best friends Tank and Sophie. I laughed, I cried and swooned. A great read! I really enjoyed it and would recommend this book without any ifs, ands, or buts.
I received an Advanced Readers copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really could relate to these characters. The author did a wonderful job putting real life problems in their way from controlling exes, death, fear to move on to a new relationship. All things that I can definitely relate. I am looking forward to this series. I am definitely hooked. I was really hoping Tank and Sophie's story was next but I also liked Jax. Great job Sheridan it was a pleasant surprise to find this book. Looking forward to reading more of your work. :)
