Lea Griffith began sneaking to read her mother’s romance novels at a young age. She cut her teeth on the greats: McNaught, Woodiwiss, and Garwood. A firm believer that love makes the world go round, she still consumes every romance book she can put her hands on, but now she writes her own.
Lea lives with her husband and three teenage daughters in rural Georgia. Two dogs, a cat, and a beta fish named Coddy George complete a family that is always in motion. When not working at the EDJ, she’s usually at her keyboard, using every spare second to write. Science fiction, paranormal and contemporary romance, oh my! Nothing is off-limits when it comes to her writing.

Bone Deep is heartbreaking and absolutely captivating, as is the character that this book is named after. It is with a poet’s hand that Lea Griffith puts pen to paper.

“The night split open above her, the black fading to gray and slowly the gray to pink. Fingers of orange sifted through the clouds like a mother stroking her child’s hair. The colors bit deep into her mind, but as the darkness exhaled and gave up its breath to light, all Bone knew was a pin-pricked numbness, and it was beautiful.”

Bone, Bone Breaker, is beautifully broken in perfect imperfection. Her story will break your heart just as all her sisters before her have. First Team is nearing the end of their mission...or, at least they’re hoping that they are. All in the name of Ninka, a sister lost too young; one that has bound them together and fuels their fire for revenge, redemption, and retribution. They will have it at any cost.

However, what Bone didn’t count on was the effects the Russian-born Dmitry would have on her. Her “pass” comes to haunt her in the most confusing and delicious ways. He is on his own path of revenge. It’s the smell of sugared apricots that tempts him and has him rethinking and changing his plans. Will he be able to break the unbreakable: the walls built to keep her safe?

Over all, Bone Deep is action packed with twists and turns that will have you turning pages with break-neck speed. So much of the past is revealed in book three of the No Mercy Series that fans are gonna get a true understanding into what drives these women.

The romance differs from the previous books, and the focus is more pinpointed on women of First Team and less on the men in their lives. These are all moves in the right direction if you ask me. I am a massive fan of the series and hate that we must wait for the next installment.

It’s a solid bone breaking 5 star read!

“I will not break!” It was a scream from the very heart of her.
“I will not let you but neither will I let you break me,” he whispered

We could wax lyrical about Lea Griffith’s writing and the world she creates in the No Mercy Series but whatever we say would not adequately do her words justice.

‘She was a velvet promise that you reached for with eager hands, the stroke of her presence in your life soft but brutal.’

Her sweeping narrative engrosses us, yet we have to pause and reflect at the talent of this phenomenally gifted storyteller. Lea Griffith takes words and spins them into stunning passages that have us torn between wanting to ravenously wanting to get to the end, yet at the same time wanting to savour ever single beautiful word.

Lea Griffith certainly puts us through our paces! She keeps us guessing, throws in suspense, mystery and revelations at an astounding rate, yet never once does she lose us with the speed in which her story progresses! Not at all! From Russia to Australia from London to America, Lea has taken us on a gripping, intriguing, suspenseful and heart breaking journey with four women whom we’ve come to care about as each of their stories breaks us just that little bit more.

‘Her face was a testament that there was a God and he knew beauty. Her tone was proof there was a devil and he’d built her from the ashes of despair.‘

We won’t cover too much of the story being this is the third instalment, the reader needs to experience each woman’s story as it carries a piece of the puzzle to complete their stories. Conspiracies are discovered, lies told, truths bent and all come back to the ‘First Team’ of four women, Bullet, Arrow, Bone and Blade. Women raised to kill, to show no remorse and be black of heart.

‘Better to kill with the ice of hate, than with the fires of rage.’

Bone’s story was just as tragic and heartbreaking as Bullet and Arrows. Each story begins with their point of view in a tragic scene that is the catalyst that sparks off a chain of events in which the women (and many others) seek retribution. Honestly, each time we hear this painful, harrowing event from one of the women, our hearts break even more, never failing to shed tears at this harrowing and heartbreaking scene.

‘Pain is nothing but a reminder that I was created for death.’

Dmitry Asinimov is a man with his own painful past and whose life is intrinsically tied to the sisters. Dmitry is a man on a mission, on a quest to uncover the truth regarding his family. He is seeking his own answers, his own revenge and in the process shadowing Bone and falling for the woman he sees beneath the heart of a killer.

‘Only he was allowed to feel lust for her. Only he was allowed to hunt her. Only he would be allowed to break her. ‘

Their love story was as torturous as it was beautiful as two damaged souls seek to find the strength to love and will to hope. They each need their own brand of healing.

‘She knew every way to kill it seemed, but this man made her want to live and it hurt.’

This was an exquisitely told story and the only issue was a couple of times it came across a little repetitive. We understand the need to revisit parts of previous books, but as we’ve been there from the beginning, the retelling of some events only seemed to halt the flow of the story for us. Also; the women are their own person yet seem to blend into one in some ways. The same mould but varying attributes. We understand that these women lived ‘as one’ in many respects however; not much sets them apart.

Other than that, this story delivered and it delivered brilliantly. The writing was nothing short of breathtaking. The story exhilarating. Bone and Dmitry’s love was passionate and their story was engrossing. Once again we were mesmerized and extremely emotionally involved. The No Mercy series IS NOT TO BE MISSED!!!

"I want you to free me from my hate and let me free you from yours."

LOVED it. It's always hard to keep a series going, but this book did the previous books justice. Bone and Dmitry were 2 incredible characters and their book made me cry more than the other 2 - they were more connected than the rest of the couples, their story was just a bit more heartbreaking, for me at lest.

Bone is death's embodiment - she's all together the best killer of them all, she's the strongest, both mentally and physically (although she's the smallest of the 4), she's good with a gun and blades, but she's in her element when she can use her body to commit a kill, hence her bone breaker nickname.
 photo 1425809498.gif

I enjoy how apart from having particular skills, these 4 killers, are also individuals - you can tell that, from the way they talk, move, think and, most importantly, love. Bone is not afraid of loving Dmitry, she's only scared she might not come out if this whole, but even with this, she still takes a chance on him.

Dmitry, is her amazing counterpart. He's motivated by grief and hate, he wants to seek vengeance on The Collective for killing his family, especially his little sister Ninka. That's where they are connected - Ninka is what formed the First Team, and she's what kept Dmitry going.

The attraction between Bone and Dmitry is felt from the first scene they have together - they need each other to be grounded, they keep each other in check; Dmitry is the only one, apart from Blade, who can help Bone overcome her fears and hang on for dear life in even the most awful situations- in a way, he's her savior. Their conversations are truly a fight of sorts - it's funny, sometimes to hear they back and forth arguments - they complete each other <<< photo 1425812014.gif

 photo 1425812036.gif

And my last Holy Cow observation is . . . what a TWIST!!!!!
 photo 1425809543.gif

I didn't see that coming!!! The entire First Team's world might be crumbling down after this revelation - the 'new' character introduced, fittingly named Nameless, might be the one to hold the key to destroying The Collective.

Now.... when's the next book coming out!!!

These stories of 4 assassins leave me strung out after reading. They are written with such deeply felt sorrow and emotions and you cant help but feel the pain and anguish these women went through. As this is the 3rd book in the series the assassins are coming closer to completing their revenge against The Collective and bringing down Joseph. There were a few surprising secrets that were revealed over the course of this book and I am sure there will be more in the final book. As the story of these 4 women was started when they were children its hard to give an indept review of each book as it would be spoilers – each reveal of what happened to each of them and the many players involved needs to be experienced in the reading order of the books. After what was revealed in this one I know that Blade’s book is going to blow everything out of the water. Though I don’t want this series to end I also cannot wait for that final book so Joseph finally gets what is coming to him.

I love this series!

I love the almost formal way the sisters talk and act. It's almost lyrical! :)

Each of their stories is interesting in its own way and I'm looking forward to readin the next book!

I suspect that then Joseph will get what was due! I'm really, really hoping he'll get a gruesome end! Yes, I hate him so much that I'm bloodthirsty! LOL

You guys….hey you guys…I’m going to gush this entire review. I’m sorry in advance but there is not one single bad thing I can say about Bone Deep. Lea Griffith is a freaking master! A year and a half ago, this series burst onto my radar with a vicious bang. Bullet to the Heart was my favorite book of 2013. It was gritty, it was raw, it was heart-breakingly beautiful. Then last year Griffith followed it up with Arrow to the Soul and I may have cried just a little at the injustice these women had faced as children and what had molded them into the weapons they were now. Then I settled in for the wait for book three. It was a hard wait ya’ll. The struggle was real.

Bone Deep features Bone, who may be the deadliest assassin of the foursome of ladies intent on righting all the wrongs bestowed upon them by a vile, evil man and his secret organization, The Collective. While each woman has a specialty, Bone seems to excel at all manners of killing but she prefers hand to hand combat. Her childhood was filled with blood but tears was something she very rarely indulged in. The bond with her sisters has been all that ever mattered. With them by her side, Joseph’s days are numbered. They have steadily been taking out key people in the organization but while they are working so has Joseph and he always seems a step ahead.

Dmitry may be working with Trident to take down The Collective but he’s always had his own agenda. Find out what really happened to his sisters and mother and who had his father and brother murdered. The elusive Bone calls to him on a level he hates to acknowledge and yet where she is, he’s never far behind. When he catches her in the middle of the job he does nothing to stop it because their motives align but getting her back to the home base in Virginia won’t be easy.

O.M.G…for real…this book was so so good! Bone and Dmitry are sheer perfection together. He seems to understand what Bone needs to quiet the rage she harbors with ease. Just his presence calms her frayed edges and she quickly learns that she may not understand the emotion in her mind but her heart clearly wants him. Their story isn’t pretty. It’s raw, bloody and intense. Bone is a ruthless killer. It’s all she’s ever known, change isn’t possible but maybe, just maybe, she can adapt. As long as Dmitry doesn’t try to stop her or her sisters plans. Their interactions are rough, borderline scary at times but the heat that flares between them cannot be ignored. Griffith can write a sex scene that will singe your lady garden. Dmitry is so damn sexy. Even when he’s being a complete ass to Bone and purposely goading her on. His slips back into his native Russian got me every time.

There are a million and one things that happen within these pages and every single one of them plays a part in the overall story arc. Some questions are answered, some others are raised and there is so much action that I’m pretty sure my blood pressure went through the roof and my heartbeat never got a chance to slow down. The revelations and the flashbacks of Bone’s past almost broke me. But Bone, she never broke.

Bone Deep is a dark, enthralling tale of retribution and revenge. It’s an amazing piece of literature that will stay with you for days after you finish.

I give Bone Deep by Lea Griffith 5 stars!

These covers are killing me....this is the third book in the No Mercy series and each one so far has such a cheesy cover....get past that and the writing is incredible and the story is solid...not at all like the cover insinuates.

Anyway -

So, this is Bone/Etzem's book and she is the strongest of the four assassins of First Team, the deadly group of women assassins that have gone rogue and are on a quest to bring down The Collective. She has been running into Dmitry for years now, him once having been her target (the only target she couldn't bring herself to take out), and she finally wants to know why she is so drawn to him. They have many secrets they are keeping from each other - secrets that intertwine with each other - and when they come out we learn a lot more about the boy, about Ninka, and about Joseph. And Bone and Dmitry learn about love, forgiveness, and acceptance.

It seems, though, through this whole story, that it is Blade who holds the key - and the most secrets - and she will be the one to unravel this whole thing when her book, the last in the series, comes out. Which is not soon enough!!

***ARC provided for an honest review***

Bone Deep picks up flawlessly after Arrow to the Soul (No Mercy Book 2). Just as the previous two books of the No Mercy series, Bone Deep is action-packed with twists that will keep you turning the pages. First Team is closer to their end game. Like her First Team sisters, there is no mistaking Bone is a killer. Bone Breaker is the strongest of the sisters who seeks death to soothe her rage. It is with Dmitry Asinimov’s scent, breath, and heartbeat that Bone recognizes there is another that is able to ease the rage. Dmitry seeks revenge. It is on his path of retribution that Dmitry acknowledges his need to deviate. As it goes with every scenario that is played amongst First Team, Bone’s “pass” has consequences that come full circle. Yet, it is with Dmitry that Bone Breaker finds hope. Bone Deep surpassed my expectations beyond measure. Lea Griffith’s beautiful words depict the need for the balance of dark and soft emotions. True to First Team’s character, this is one series that should not be overlooked and underestimated.

I really do love this series, I just wish they would come out faster so I can get to the end and find all my questions answered but I do enjoy this ride I'm on. Bone and Dmitry knew each other, knew how they felt for the other but with secrets things tend to spin out of control. They both have to deal with certain things from their past to move forward so they can both be happy. Bone is a kick ass lady just like Arrow and Bullet, from the two previous books and now we get to meet Blade next and see where she heads and hopefully we find all the answers.

Bone......what can you say about Bone! She is a BADASS!! She is different from her sisters in alot of ways but also exactly the same. Getting to know these sisters through these books has been such a journey. And seeing them with their men is heart warming. This book took more twists than the others and reveals just enough more about the past to keep you guessing. I'm dying for book 4 so I can meet Blade and figure out what the hell is going on!!

Bullet is still my favorite but this is a close 2nd

This is a series that you absolutely have to read in order. Every time I think Lea Griffith can't possibly blow my mind anymore, she does. While this book answers so many questions, it creates more questions. She does suspense well.
Normally I wait for an entire series to come out prior to starting it. I hate the wait in between, but I make an exception for the No Mercy series. It's just that good!

Bone has the ability to kill people in any way imaginable, and she has used them all throughout her career as an assassin. Dmitry has been following Bone for months and realizes that she may have answers to questions involving the death of his parents and his two missing sisters. Their attraction to one another introduces more complications that become evident when the two of them meet face-to-face for the first time.
The beginning chapter of each of the three books in the No Mercy series has focused on the same night, when all four of the First Team assassins cemented their connection to one another and inspired their ultimate plan to murder their brutal trainer, Joseph Bombardier. Bone Deep brings more information to light about Ninka, the loving but weak girl who died that night and how her story connects all of them. Less of this book is spent on the romance between Bone and Dmitry and more about setting the stage for the final book in the series. We also meet some new characters introduced into the series including, Nameless, the woman who gave birth to the boy they are all so desperately trying to find. Overall, this was a good story especially the parts that develop the final installment. I look forward to the next book, which I assume will focus on not only finishing the series, but also telling the story of the character, Blade.

I thought I wasn't interested in Bones story... but I was more interested than even I knew

Dmitry is kinda perfect and I love him for how complementary he is for Bone

SPOILER: that time he was all uh I'm not gonna save her bc she lied to me and offed my corrupt father whom I loved.... well that made me feel hurt--- don't make promises of love and protection you don't intend to keep

every scene with blade had my heart singing bc she said just what needed to be heard!!!

the ending wasn't good....

5 STARS!!

Lea Griffith never ceases to amaze me! This series has been one of the most unexpected and amazing discoveries of the last year. It is not a common romantic suspense or a dark romance but it's both things and much more.
The author has created a plot that keeps you in suspense from the first page of the first book. The four heroines, or I should say anti-heroines, of the whole series are women who have suffered and experienced pain from a very early age and therefore it's even more touching to see how love changes the meaning of their lives. The better part is that their change is real because it doesn't happen overnight, but gradually. They must struggle daily to hang on to the ephemeral happiness they have found with their respective men.
As happened for Bullet and Arrow, I'm deeply fond of Bone, to the point of considering them all my step-sisters.
Dmitry was a pleasant surprise! He also has a dark and mysterious past and many shocking secrets that are revealed little by little.
The relationship between Bone and Dmitry, unlike the first two novels, is not hard-fought since they surrender more easily to the attraction they feel for each other, but nevertheless it's filled with moments of tension and anxiety.
The sex scenes are very sensual, erotic and stimulating while not described explicitly. You can say, Lea Griffith has a very poetic writing style.
In short, Bone Deep is a masterpiece of its kind and it is worth of reading!

Another Solid Five Stars

Here's another solid five stars for the authors work. As my prior review for book two, I had finished this novel a few days ago but couldn't post a review due to poor internet connection where I was staying at so here is my review. I love this series. The author does not disappoint. She has maintained her captivating writing style on the No Mercy series with these alpha female assassins. Bone was as strong as the other characters and just as broken in her own way. Love is not a known concept to these woman but they move forward and sacrifice themselves to what they feel is theirs. Bones story was a tough one as she was considered the strongest one of the group as well as took on punishment for what was hers to protect. I felt deeply for Bone as she was so much more broken to me than Bullet or Arrow. Dmitry was the perfect alpha male for her. Their storyline was one that pulled at you. There was lots of history there, lots of hurt, and deception. I can praise on and on how amazing this series has been but only you as the reader can truly appreciate the authors work and why I love this series when you read it. It's riveting, romantic, sad, full of action, and most of all you learn that what's considered broken is nothing more than perception...what's broken and weak to one person is viewed as strong and giving to another.

Bone Deep is book 3 in the No Mercy Series which tells the story of 4 girls - Bullet, Arrow, Bone, and Blade - kidnapped by Joseph and the Collective and trained to be his assassins. The girls, now women, have gone rogue and are seeking revenge against Joseph and ultimately, to bring down the Collective. Each woman has a role to play in bringing down the Collective and avenging Ninka’s death. This is Bone’s story and her developing romance with Dimitry Asimov, a member of Trident Security.

Bone is a very complicated and intense character. She is perhaps the deadliest of the four girls in that hate and anger motivates her on all levels. This book takes a lot of twists and turns, revealing many of the women’s and Dimitry’s secrets. Much like Bullet and Rand (book #1), Bone and Dimitry have dark past ties that bring them together. This book will pull you into the drama and intrigue of the story. And Lea Griffith amazes me with her ability to slowly reveal tantalizing secrets and hints of the ultimate outcome. You can’t help but keep reading. And these women’s stories just tear your heart open. This is not your feel good romance but you will definitely be pulling for these kickass women. I highly recommend and anxiously await book #4.

I love a good mystery, and I love this book! I couldn't put it down, and was sorry I had to work and couldn't just stay home and read. I love the fact that Paige is a strong character, I am so tired of the teen who makes the typical mistakes over and over. I also enjoyed the Native American aspects of the story. I especially enjoyed Jalen's Uncle Billy. I could see making this available to middle and high school students, as a fiction tie into archeology, southwestern history, and Native American stories. It would be a fun read and an interesting tine in. This was an ARC book.

This was the third book in the series and the story continued from the previous books. Bone was born to contract killer parents. When Joseph the head of the assassin group 'The Collective' comes to kill her parents, they offer their daughters life to save themselves. Bone had learned some hard lessons in life and she believes she has no soul.

Dmitry is looking for his father's killer and he is searching for his missing sisters. In this book we learn the true identity of Ninka and her relationship with Dmitry.

I am looking forward to read the final story of Blade.

Very Intense Story

I've read all three stories in the series. Each woman was trained to be the perfect assassin. Taught that emotions were a sign of weakness. Now their creator is on the run as his creations systematically destroy the Collective.
The series can't end like this. What about Blade? What's her story? Then there's Rands' brother in law Ken. That man is full of secrets. There's also a mystery woman by the name of Nameless. Her story is blended into the lives of Team One. There has to be another book to wrap up the series.
