When Ilene Stanford’s husband left her after years of marriage for a much younger model, she just knew her romantic life was at an end. Having only known one man since high school, she was sure that at thirty-two her days as a love interest was all but over, and besides, she had a twelve year old daughter to raise. With her mind set on being an old maid, she was in no way prepared for bad boy ex-soldier Dane who came into her life literally through her bedroom window at night, and did things to her body that she didn’t even knew existed. Sure the lovemaking was off the charts good, but could she trust the craziness that he whispered in her ear in the darkness of night?
Before I start this review I will be honest and say I dismissed this book as NOT FOR ME. However, this book was totally for me. :D
Now before you read this book I will show you a taste of what this book is about. If you find the following line offensive then DO NOT read this book.
"...my woman has no need to work outside the house where other motherfuckers could ogle my shit, better she stay home and bear my seed."
These are Danes (the hero) thoughts about the heroine Ilene.
To say the hero was a total Alpha would be putting it mildly. Dane was gone over the heroine after one fluke glance of her at a random super market one day. He was in full STALKER MODE. He then goes about finding a way to make her life perfect with his plans
Here is where I totally fell in love with the hero with this Quote: "It took me 34 years to feel what I feel for you...I love you now and I will love you a 100 years from now."
Now I will add the content alert for those who need to make sure this book is Okay. This book contains spankings and mild elements of asphyxiation.
SAFETY Faithful, no pushing or pulling, very little drama except for the stuff imagined by the hero. Safe sex, no as they wanted to have kids.
Generally I enjoyed this book. I may read it again. This book has a totally hot fantasy element that I think may speak to a single hard working mom.
Also, what really made me love this book was the epilogues. I love when Jordan Silver does a book with an HEA with a BABY.
Sadly, I could not give it 5 stars. As the heroines behavior pissed me off, with her always going to see her ex when he asked. He said "jump" and she almost said "how high." NOPE NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Yeah I understand they have a kid but he left her high and dry for a younger model without any thoughts for her or their daughter. He does not deserve this consideration.
Again these are just my thoughts. Hope you enjoyed them. A la prochaine!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
DNF @ 52% because apparently I have no self-control...and I'm out, but not before skipping to the end.
Called on account of stalking and nightmare behavior. So sit back and let me tell you of this heinous fuckery children.
The total interaction between the two main characters before fucking the first time is:
1. He sniffs her.
I don’t know his name, his number or where he lives. I just know that three days ago he came up behind me, sniffed my neck unabashedly and declared ‘fuck I knew you were gonna smell good’, before walking off.
And then 2. three days later he speaks a single word.
He smiled at her but came to my side and whispered just one simple word into my ear that sent me into a free-fall. “Tonight.” That was all he said before he kept going on his merry way.
Then we find out he's been stalking her for two and a half weeks. Using his super secret government contacts he invades her privacy learning "everything there is to know about her".
After the "tonight" whisper - he breaks into her house, because God forbid they have a fucking conversation where he introduces himself or anything, and only makes his presence known AFTER her best friend gives up and goes home (because the bf was going to take his picture and get deets before leaving her alone with him) and then, still WITHOUT ANY CONVERSATION, begins to fuck her with his 12 inch cock while she's on hands and knees pressed into the bed ALL before ever even TELLING HER HIS NAME.
After fucking into her WITHOUT A CONDOM, and having only told her his name at this point, he tells her:
“This is your new reality, I am your new reality. From now on, this” I placed my hand over her heart before moving it down between us and covering the top of her pussy, “and this, belongs to me.”
ETA...Because even though I tapped out at 21% I still went back and continued to read. Some of the gems from this story (beware there may be some that are considered spoilers!):
I skipped to the end after that...
On the plus side, I no longer "think" but know absolutely that this has cleansed my palate and made me more than ready to flee back to M/M romance.

Another great book of Jordan Silver. OTT alphas and always end with HEA. And i love her epilogues! I also don't have to worry about the safety of her books because they're always safe to read for me and light. Though, for others, they totally don't like OW/OM drama or manwhores. But even though there are manwhores in her books and OW/OM dramas, they are all light and no heavy drama. And of course, the heroes are very possessive and protective of their women.
The story was about Ilene who was divorced for 6 months with a 12 year old daughter. Dane was in town for business but stayed longer because he saw her. He's so protective of her and her daughter Alana. And he's really good for her.
One thing though, Ilene pissed me off one time because she's a stubborn one. Dane told her not to come near her ex but there was a time she met with him. But after that, Dane handled it and everything became okay.
It has a nice epilogue too. I love Jordan Silver's epilogue.
The only thing that bothered me was the year of marriage. She mentioned that she was married to her ex for 18 years but she's only 32. Then near the end, she mentioned 15 years. But other than that, the story was a good one. Dane's 34.
Quick steamy read! If you're a fan of Jordan Silver.. then ya'll know the drill! We have a demanding alpha male and a somewhat insecure but likeable heroine. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to read this one, it has tons of hot sex, sex.. and sex..
Its a no brainer, I basically just read this to get off! lmao.
Anyway its a 4 STARS for me.
For once I would give my leg to be the heroine! Some hot Dane sniffing me (literally!) and creeping in the middle of the night!
Bad title, awesome hero. This is my favorite book from this author. I pretty much love how the Hero just bulldozes his way into the heroines life. He’s very possessive and took complete care of the heroine and her daughter. The daughter was a good kid, not bratty. I wish the author would make this into a series with the men working for the H’s security company. It’s short, but very satisfying for any alpha loving readers.
Trashy smut is my go-to when life is kicking my ass, and damn my anxiety has been killing me, so I thought I’d try another J.S. crazy alpha with his 12-inch cock to escape my head for a couple hours….
And I got to say…
“I have to prepare you for my meat, as tight as you are, my shit might tear you…”
…made me giggle…
But this went downhill rather quickly.
I’m not super picky with these reads, but I need some sort of plot/development and the H sniffing her once then telling her “tonight” … is not (IMHO) enough for her to be good with him sneaking in her window for sex… then POOF they love each other.
Bottom Line- I need some relationship building… a conversation… something to establish the connection. And some sort of plot… even if it’s just crazy drama-llama. Her newer stuff is better.
One of my favorite Jordan Silver books. I like that this one the heroine, Ilene, wasn't a young virgin, but a divorced woman with a daughter. I loved how Dane responded to both the mother and daughter.
NOTE: Read it for the 3rd time and still really liked it!!!
If you don't like to read rough sex and punishment scenes, this one isn't for you.Little om drama from her ex husband. He cheated on the h with his new woman. No cheating between the H/h. https://storiesinreview971130128.word...

Another OTT, possessive male. I liked this for the most part. There were a few times that I felt Dane was a little bit too OTT if there is such a thing lol. Sometimes I almost felt his behavior was abusive...just a very fine line such as punishing her because her ex came to her house. She didn't call him there and told him to leave but he didn't. Dane, of course, punishes her for that saying she knew she wasn't supposed to be around him. But, on the other hand, she never tried to explain to him that she had asked him to leave. It was just kind of underdeveloped. Other than that, it filled my need for the OTT, alpha male!
I used to love Jordan Silver's insta-love in her books but this one was just too over the top. Everything escalated too quickly and I was rolling my eyes most of the time. But it was still an okay read and she'll still be my favorite author when it comes to SMUT, a lot of sex and OTT alpha heroes. I'm glad that J. Silver's writing is improving lately. If you want something to read that will get you off, well, I guess you're in the right page, lol. 2.5 stars generously rounded up to 3.
Needed a quick hot read in between my longer books, and that's exactly what I got! Let me just clear something up though, Dane is no "boy"... He's all man, all 12"!!!
Yowza this book was HOT! I loved every smutty minute of it! It is a Jordan Silver book so you know what to expect but the heroine was not barely legal for a change. So I thought it was great! Plus I did not read one worst....
If you like JS, I think you will like this one a lot. There is a plot. There is some character development. There is A LOT of sex. What else do you need? The worst part for me was the title.
He exudes mysterious alpha male and he has set his eyes on single mom Ilene Stanford. Ilene had been dumped by her husband for a newer model and she had her daughter had rebuilt a new life for themselves. Enter Dane, he has secrets and has made it known from the beginning they are building a future together with her daughter. As a new chapter in Ilene's life begins, her ex has decided he doesn't want the other to close.
This reminded me a bit of Mystery Man, I loved Dane. He is rough, intense, and you know from the first moment he is head over heels for Ilene. I liked Ilene, she is tough but so vulnerable, her sole focus is her daughter. This was a bit different than Jordan Silver's normal books, loved it.
Meh. I think I'm being generous with my 3 stars. I really liked a couple of books by JS, but other than that they seem to be misses. There's not enough substance to support the necessary suspension of reality.
OOOOOOOkay... I had to DNF this one. Usually, books like this are right up my alley (or pretty close), but this one was just bad. Like AWFUL. There were a few things in the beginning that I felt ehhh about but that didn't stop me from continuing. Like when we find out that Dane has been stalking Ilene for a couple months. Or the time when without even saying anything to her he walks up behind her and smells her. Or the time when the only word he says is "tonight" and then shows up in her bedroom to have sex with her. That was weird to me but I didn't end up not wanting to finish this book until Ch. 17. The way Dane treats Ilene in regards to other men and the way Ilene just kinda accepts this treatment makes me violently angry. Especially because there was a part where Dane says Ilene doesn't know how to be treated like a woman because of her ex. OH HA HA HA DANE I SEE YOU THINK THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU! I'm gonna try and give you guys instances in a coherent fashion:
1. Ilene's EX shows up on her doorstep asking to see their daughter (which legally he is allowed to do because and this I'm just assuming, Ilene doesn't have full custody). And also she wants her daughter and her father to have a relationship because that's what her daughter wants. ALSO DOES NO ONE TALK TO EACH OTHER IN THIS BOOK?? Anyways, Dane shows up as the EX is leaving and since the EX isn't there he takes his anger out on Ilene. He grabs her by the throat (not forcefully but still) and asks what HE was doing here. When Ilene gives him an answer he doesn't like he gets angrier. Instead of talking rationally he's pissed and tells Ilene that man can't come here anymore and that if he does Dane will take it out on both of them. UMMMMM WHAT THE FUCK DANE. Seriously how is that attractive? If a man ever said that I had to be the one to control my EX's actions, especially when there is a kid involved I would be like BYEEEEEEEE. It's one thing if Dane is seriously concerned about the well being of the woman he CLAIMS he loves and her child. But this just seems like petty jealousy. Seriously though this would be a red flag to me.
2. Dane takes Ilene to a club. When he goes off to get drinks some random guy hits on Ilene. Apparently, she doesn't shut it down fast enough because Dane comes back sees the guy hitting on Ilene and tells her he's gonna punish her when they get home. Normally I would find that hot, but this just creeps me out. He takes her to his house and spanks her and tells her that he doesn't like her talking to any men at all and that she didn't shut him down and she seemed to be liking it. Here is my problem with this (and I have several). First of all, Ilene has no control over this random man or his actions. Two she's alone for the time being and again this is a random stranger. Three if I was in her shoes I would be very apprehensive about turning this man down and what his response to that would be. The biggest problem is Dane doesn't seem to have any care to talk to her about what happened. Or to make sure she's okay. He just quickly places the blame on her. How does a random man hitting on her somehow become her fault?? How is that swoon-worthy or even remotely attractive? Sorry, that's not okay with me. I get very uncomfortable with men approaching me while I'm by myself but if on top of that the guy I was with blamed me and acted pissily, it would make that situation 100x worse.
3. This is where I had to stop reading. Not only was this the worst one but I was grossed out to the max. Ilene is home alone when the EX shows up but not at the front door but inside her house. Somehow he gets inside without her knowing because he wants to talk to her. He then starts acting strange calling it his family and his wife (they're already divorced). Sorry if any man (despite knowing him for years) breaks into my house and starts acting really strange I would be internally freaking the F out. THAT'S BAD BUT IT GETS WORSE. Because right at that moment fuckwad... I mean Dane calls. He hears EX's voice and demands Ilene get rid of him (BY HERSELF) or else it'll be both their asses*eyes roll so hard I see my brain*. So not only is Ilene dealing with an EX that's acting strange and broke into her house, but she now has to deal with her current boyfriend storming in the house and punishing her FOR ONCE AGAIN ACTIONS THAT WERE OUT OF HER CONTROL. He shows up and instead of finding out what happened or finding out if she's okay he says “What the fuck part of stay the fuck away from him don’t you get?” Somehow no matter what happens when it comes to men it is always Ilene's fault. It doesn't matter that her EX broke into her house or that she can't control his actions all that matters is that Dane gets to punisher her and the author thought of no better way then to have the woman be at fault for everything. Sorry, don't find it sexy. Also, don't find Ilene's attitude about the whole thing cute. She's afraid to speak up, she's afraid to say anything to Dane. Sorry, that's not a cute relationship to me. It's gross.
Oh did I also mention that every time a man goes anywhere near Ilene Dane fucks her so hard he hurts her? I am all for bad boys or alpha males and rough sex but this-this was nasty. Dane doesn't give a shit about Ilene. He doesn't care about her well being, he doesn't make sure she's okay. in fact, never once has he sat down and talked about her EX with her. He creepily stalked her and used his ties to find out everything about her instead of, I don't know having a conversation. And let's not forget the fact that not once has he asked her about protection, He doesn't care. He wants to get her pregnant and it doesn't matter to him if she wants that or not. Even though he can TOTALLY TELL SHE DOES BECAUSE WHEN HE SAYS HE'S BREEDING HER SHE GETS WET. EYE ROLL!!! Okay, I didn't really mean for this to be so long and I can't imagine how long it would have been if I had finished. But seriously this is not a cute book it's not even steamy. This is a book that people would show you if they were trying to warn you to stay away from certain dudes and behaviors. I also honestly wouldn't even give this one star but it doesn't give me the option of no stars... So here we are.
My opinion there are better books out there that do this plot justice. This one is bad, save your time, your money and find a different book.
I enjoyed it but one small detail drove me crazy. The story pointed out the heroine was 32 and was married for 18 years. Hmmm...so that means she got married when she was 14? Typos happened but this was pointed out twice so it stuck with me. But I did love the story overall. Hope all of the hero's business associates get stories, could be the start of a great series.
The beginning of the book ruined the rest of it for me. A random guy breaking into your room is super creepy (and something out of a crime novel). There really is a fine line between a hot alpha male and a guy that might kill you while you sleep. Besides that, even as a super short read, it lacked a true conflict. The antagonist was flat and stereotypical, and less scary than the hero.
I was excited to read this one, but it did not work for me. The heroine's friend annoyed me. The actions were odd. I tried, but I just could not get into it. I don't get the "he sniffed me" and then the heroine's inner thoughts. Sometimes less information is better.
This may work for you, but it did not work for me.
Another home run hit for Jordan. Or maybe I should say "scoooooooooorrrrreeee"! Dane and Ilene's story was sweet, tense, sexy & heartwarming. I love the characters that this author creates.
I love a good bulldozer and the H definitely moved things right along to make sure he locked down his woman. The only thing that made this a 2.5 star was that he kept promising punishment if she didn't do as he said. it left a bad feeling in my mouth when he kept telling her that he would spank her a$$ for talking to her ex husband.....and she didn't even do anything to invite him over or anything. bleh. anyhoo, its jordan silver so you gotta ignore the bad punctuation, bad vocab, etc and just go with the flow. haha
Oh no. No. If you can ignore (or even like) the way over the top, unrealistic insta-love which of course come with insta-jealousy with absolutely zero discussion taking place to advance the romantic plot line then maybe this will work for you. But then...
I adjusted my meat in my jeans that were suddenly cutting off my circulation and kept my eyes glued on her.
And then...
“I have to prepare you for my meat, as tight as you are, my shit might tear you…” She fucking whimpered in her throat.
And STILL...
“Oww.” She tried looking over her shoulder at me but I pressed her head forward. “Yeah I know.” I screwed my twelve-inch cock into her silk cunt as she hissed and tried to pull off.
And I that's about 16%. And skimming the rest, it doesn't get any better.
This book is great!!!! I love Dane, I think he is the best Jordan Silver hero, even better than the hero in The Soldier's Lady. Ilene is a great heroine. I loved that is was a story about a mature woman with a 12 year old daughter. Her husband had left her six months before the book starts for a younger woman. It affected her confidence in herself. Then, he had been a jerk about money and she ends up living really frugally, while he keeps the big house with the other woman. The hero and heroine had an instant attraction to each other, but eyed each other from a distance for a couple weeks. The hero never expected to want a wife and kids, but once he meets Ilene, that all changes. The first time they say more than a couple words to each other is when he climbs in the window of her bedroom. The dialogue at that point is pretty sexy, but a lot of the book has really funny scenes, too. Well, once Dane has decided he wants to be with her forever, he strategicly works to make sure the daughter is okay with that. What he didn't expect was to develop a really great relationship with the great kid, and he almost immediately thinks of her has his kid. The conflict is the book is primarily dealing with a dog in the manger ex-husband, but Dane takes care of him, but good. Great story, lots of fun to read.
