A charming book, with amazing illustrations. Only a few of the animals get what I'd call a 'poem' that rhymes, but each animal gets a little story or caricature. I especially liked the parrot, who reminds me of my husband. The elephant shows personality, and his story reminded me -- fondly -- of the Saggy Baggy Elephant from the Little Golden Books of my childhood.
It was a gift to my son in 1974. He's soon to have his 50th birthday so I'll send it to him for his future, likely, grandchildren.
