This book follows Lola, a troubled young woman, through a summer that will change her life forever. We enter into the world of Faerie and, even more interesting, the Unseelie Court. This fast-paced book transports the reader quickly into a world of intrigue and danger.

I was a little disappointed to see some insta-love. Although they fell in love a little too quickly, I do like the main characters and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here. The book is well paced but I would have loved some more details about the Fae world!

Overall a really pleasant read!

Of all the fantasy books I have read over the years, I’ve never had the pleasure of reading about Fae creatures. I’m so glad that Fate popped by Fae cherry.

This story was the perfect blend of suspense, intrigue and great story telling.

I may have found a vampire replacement. Move over Edward there’s a new blood sucker in town.

I bought this book at a book signing several months ago and decided to read it and I read it in one sitting. I really liked her writing style and I thought it was a very good storyline. I definitely want to read the next book!

This was a good start to the series. The concept of the book didn't blow me away and we predictable at times. I'm interested to see what is to come in the next two books.

This was a great book. Awesome world building, I really enjoyed picturing the world and characters in my head. I couldn’t get enough of this story when I was able to read it. I wasn’t able to read it in my normal capacity (a book in a day). This still didn’t stop me from devouring the words when I got the chance to read it. I love the main characters. Conall and Lola (a.k.a. Ianthe) was so heartwarming to read about. Their relationship from the beginning was so sweet and I want more. Lucky for me I was able to get the second book so I can continue the journey. If the second book is as good as the first, I am so stoked. I can’t wait to see what becomes of Ianthe, along with their relationship.

Looking for a cute PG fantasy book? This is it!

The FMC is a struggling teen who after meeting a series of strange individuals, eventually becomes a strong lead. The MMC is most definitely the silent, loyal type and has no problem with where his loyalties lie.

This book does leave a bit on a cliffhanger but probably more so because I was sooo invested in the characters! Can’t wait to read the next one!!

**Sidenote: I met the author and she’s a sweetheart!

Book 49 of '25 - "Fate" by Cathlin Shahriary (223) - book one of the Fae realm Series - i picked these up at a local author book faire in Ft. Worth, having a chance to meet the author and even get them signed!
The story follows Lola, a 17yr old who has had a few troubled years since her mother died. She has fallen down a hole of drugs and partying, much to her proper father's disappointment. After a particularly horrible experience at a party that involved being assaulted by a strange man, Lola is sent to rehab, and then as further punishment upon release, shipped off to her Great Aunt's house to spend the summer while her father goes away on business. Used to the cold distance of her life, Lola is surprised to find her mother's aunt is a loving, gentle woman - eager to meet her and share details of her mother that had always been taboo to speak of with her father.
As she delves into this new way of life, Lola notices a mysterious man at the edges of her Great Aunt's property. He seems to be watching her, and as she begins to dream of him she realizes he is much more than meets the eye. When she finally meets him in person, she learns he mistook her for her mother. Her mother had a fondness for learning about the Fae, and as it turns out it went far beyond learning, having been engaged to the Unseelie king! Lola's life is turned upside down as she learns who she really is and heads to the Fae realm with her new companion.
Curiosity turns quickly to concern as Lola must learn yet another new world quickly and decide where she truly belongs.

This was a quick read, and enjoyable. Im glad I picked up the whole series! 6/10.

I recieved a copy of this book from the author. My 16 year old daughter read it, this is her review:

Told from Lola's POV. Lola has nightmares about being attacked at a party. She is a recovering drug addict staying with her estranged great Aunt after leaving rehab. While looking out into the forest she saw a guy who starts appearing in her dreams. Wanting to know more, Lola heads out to the woods to meet with Conall and he takes her to the Fae realm after being chased by an unknown person. In the Fae realm Lola meets her biological father, the unseelie King. She learns her fate, being betrothed and becoming the next unseelie Queen.

Although the book was easy to read, it lacked plot twists and wasn't very well written. I was disappointed with the world building. We're told about fae but not in depth, just a passing mention. I did not connect with the characters. Probably will not finish the series or further read books by this author. Too much to the stories that could've been added. No real cliffhanger, could've easily been a one book story. The whole thing felt rushed.

A good fae book.

I loved the plot of the storyline. It kept me wanting to read on. It lacked a bit in detail, depth, and excitement. There were times when I was torn on continuing to read or put it down. I did finish. I’m glad I did but the end fell a little flat. I’d like to read on to the next book but honestly it probably won’t be a top of the list read. I do hope the second book is more exciting.
