FAA attorney Terrence Rogers dreams of space, but he spends his days on informed consent for space tourists. Young foreign service officer Hal Cooper faces real change with the arrival of an alien spaceship, but it means something else for Terrence. A short story.
Wow! I just finished reading this story, and it was amazing. The storytelling was smooth, sure, and confident. I felt I was in good hands as I read. The characters were appealing and realistic. I loved the way the relationship between Terence and his young acquaintance developed over time. And the kicker, when it arrived, felt both inevitable and a complete surprise. Well done!
Go find more by Mrs. Montgomery! Its a short, but very thought provoking. Not a spoiler, but this reminded me. My Dad used to tell stories including one about a friend from church who called him once and suggested he should get out of town with the family on short notice. So, I recommend this if you like the nuts and bolts and sometimes heartbreak of mankind's attempts to make it off this rock to the next. Bravo
The story got interesting and then it ended. Most of the 40 something pages of it was headed somewhere, then it ended. Is it a prequel or book 1 of a 3 part trilogy? I'm baffled.
This is a great first-contact story (as in, a short story). I can't tell you anything about it without spoiling it. You'll just have to read it.
I gave this 4 starts to start with. I've rethought the story and decided that it was such a marvelous story that I had to revise my rating to 5 stars, even if it doesn't have the "social justice" sort of thing I look for at that level. It's just an awesome read!
