A little boy lovingly describes all the birds that reside in his backyard--from the wren living in the birdhouse, to the pair of cardinals who seek shelter in the tall pine tree, to the yellow goldfinches splashing in the birdbath
This joyful and colorful picture book celebrates the many birds that a child spots in his family's suburban backyard. Kids will enjoy the large illustrations of songbirds, and it may just inspire them to start paying greater attention to the natural world around them. It also models creating a bird-friendly habitat through the family's efforts to provide food, shelter, and water for backyard birds.
This was a nice book about many different kinds of birds, but what I liked the best was that the child in the story tells of the birds they see when they look out the window into their own backyard. I would use this book to introduce my kids to the idea that there is a big world right outside the window, and they can learn about it if they just look around.
I liked this and the variety of birds shown. A good variety of birds, most you could see around feeders in the suburbs. A few I wouldn't expect, but I'll take it. Mostly east coast varieties. Good artwork.
