Generally I do not agree with the way that creeds and articles are used, and I have a suspicion that the way they are used has a detrimental effect on the intellectual integrity of the church, and on the minds of churchgoers.

Having said that, I like the integrity of this book. I cannot help but be impressed by the rigor and honesty of this work.

I find it very useful to have the 39 articles explained so clearly and unapologetically so that I know which ones I agree with and which I do not, and so that I understand the point of view of clergy and the constraints they face.

A classic, standard interpretation of the basic theological standard of the Church of England. Requied reading when I was a student in The General Theological Seminary, New York City, and remains a reliable reading today.
