Be The Man: Stop Lying, Start Leading Today

Rate this book
MEN ARE LOST.
MEN ARE ALONE.
MEN ARE CONFUSED.
Men are desperately attempting to answer what appears to be a very simple question, being asked by the women closest to them.
What is wrong with you?
Why Don’t You Just BE THE MAN?
As much as I wanted to blame my dad for not raising me to be a man, the truth was, my father (like me) had been born into a Generational Game of Sedation that had been destroying the masculinity in men around the globe for almost a century.
Living in power as a Man these days is almost impossible, with the confusing set up of twisted rules and archaic guidelines that men are supposed to follow to BE THE MAN.
My Brother. You don’t have to continue to be lost. You don’t have to continue to play this game alone. You don’t have to continue to be confused.
This book is the gateway to a new conversation and also your entry point to a global Brotherhood of Men who have found the answer not only to this question of BEING A MAN, but also having learned how to dominate in Business, Marriage and Life.
This book is your first step down a Path that will forever change the way you see yourself as a MAN, a Husband, a Lover, a Father and a Businessman.
We are Here for you right now. The Next Step is Simple. Dive into the BE THE MAN BOOK Today.

It was an okay book, and had some interesting things to say. But it was very much a sales pamphlet for other products Garrett White offers, and there was probably only about 25 pages of material in this 211 page book.

Motivating book. Upsells to his other book Warrior book (which will read).
Top takeaways:

Marriages fail, businesses collapse and men play small because MEN LIE!

2 CHOICES:

Take action and do whatever to do whatever it takes to defeat it.

Bury your head and act like it's not there until it kills you.

We all feel alone in our pain BUT THAT'S A LIE!

Most entrepreneurs sedate their emotions by "the grind".

Most lie and hide the truth inside.

The goal is to activate the authentic self.

YOUR LIES SHAPE YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM!

To grow must dismantle old beliefs and expand new ones.

To change beliefs:

TELL THE FUCKING TRUTH.

BECOME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM HOLDING YOU BACK. (THE PIT.)

Your kingdom can be destroyed by boredom or burnout.

The truth may hurt but lies kill.

THE WARRIOR WAY IS LIKE A HAMMER, ONLY AS POWERFUL AS THE MAN SWINGING IT!

Einstein said "a man's mind lacks the capacity to solve the problem it has created at the same level of thinking that originally created the problem."

Results and expansion happen in the land of yes and no, not maybe!

Some will say this book is “salesy” as he promotes the $100 Warrior Book quite a bit. But if that is your big takeaway from this book, then you just wasted a bunch of time reading the book and getting nothing out of it. Garrett J. White tells you why you feel like shit in aspects of your life, but more importantly can relay this because he’s been there and has the experience. It was a real eye opener for me and I highly recommend this book and will be continuing on with The Warrior Book next.

This isn't a book. It's a sales pitch for another book. Double/Triple-spaced for easy reading by third graders, sections of larger, bolded font meant to seem impactful, like someone is yelling at you, it was a complete waste of time. If it was single-spaced, like most books for adults, it would be about 60-65 pages. I'm not being mean, I'm being real when I say this book was a complete waste of time - he would've been better off spending money on a real ad campaign for the other book/program he's trying to sell. I fully expect to see every sentence in this book repeated in the other book he's trying to sell (I'm you can already tall that I'm not going to do the selling for him).

As I just completed reading this book, I haven't had a chance to check out his program yet and can't make any recommendations on that, but if you're looking at making some life changes, I'd say go ahead and consider skipping this part of it, and just start on the rest of it. Good luck - hope this was at least a little helpful.

This book does not offer much in the way of solutions, but does a pretty good job of describing the issues that the Warrior Book and the author's coaching program are intended to address.

“The Hard Truth Is This…
One day you or your wife will be going to bed alone.
One day your kids won’t be able to call on you to ask for advice, share their wins or just hang out with their dad.
And there may even come an unfathomable day where maybe one of your kids isn’t around for you to take out to lunch, pick up from school or play with in the backyard.
THAT SHIT IS REAL.
This isn’t some “bullshit” emotional tactic.” Pg.136

But it actually is, all of it. This whole book is just an emotional tactic to purchase Garrett J. White’s continuously repackaged self-help material premise (a.k.a. The Code, Core 4, The Key 4, The Stack, The General’s Tent and now WARRIORBOOK) and “Join the Brotherhood” that will solve all of your perceived (purported) problems in life. But you BETTER ACT NOW before it’s too late!!! Smh, really?

Good for Garrett that he has had struggles in life and has buckled down, researched and studied, and adapted to find his way through to success in this thing called life, albeit at other peoples’ expense. P.T. Barnum, anyone?

I’m impressed that he can run 30 miles a day, while most people just buy a car to get around.
Unfortunately, this Wake Up Warrior – Be the Man WARRIORBOOK/Program is just snake oil with hard-sell tactics to incite you, the innocent reader, to TAKE ACTION in your lowly, miserable life. His premise, not mine.

NOTE:To be clear, I am all about improving my circle and my world. I saw this WARRIOR box set at a pennies-on-the-dollar, dirt-cheap price and thought I could glean something I might have missed elsewhere.

Written as spoken by a seemingly literate jock, this effort to describe a male pattern history as a failed mechanism caused by the Industrial Revolution, cherry picks the necessary bits (and far superior quotes from far superior men) to prop up the need for pack mentality to succeed thus allowing all readers to become A MAN and A KING (singular entities) yet within “The Brotherhood” (a group of likeminded individuals doing similar tactics arguably more DUKE-like), I digress.

He overlooks the actual accountability to SELF necessary before ever joining the Brotherhood of which he speaks. This program isn’t for everyone, probably not for anyone, as this book is just another late-night synthesis of better, more insightful self-help gurus’ material regurgitated into a jingoistic and militaristic format (Warriors, Generals, Kings, etc.) to gloss over the unoriginality and redundancy of the material. How do you get better at a skill? Practice with purpose and intent, without end. Too simple? Hmm.

Will we die one day, sure. Does that have any bearing on joining this Brotherhood, no. The book doesn’t even expound on “why” the Brotherhood is so necessary, elite, nor cool? (Methinks a healthy and recurring pyramid-style subscription fee (with branded notebook and pen), and perhaps an accountability to someone else has a factor to be played here that smacks of the AA format.)

As for those who feign disgust at his “rough language” get over yourself. This isn’t a Richard Pryor or George Carlin comedy set. (Both acceptable and beautiful uses of the language, imo.) Garrett simply uses common language to emphasize what he thinks are important ideas in his promotion. Heaven forbids it bristles your sensitivities. Just another reason to join the Brotherhood, lol, kidding.

Aside from the limited, elementary content that equates to a pamphlet more than a book, the formatting of my copy drove me up the wall. Pick a font, font size, and proofread the material.

I judge an author by his actual words. To me, it represents the speaker’s ability to deliver what he claims and what level of professionalism and experience is to be expected. And Garrett is lacking much. Although he might be ultra charismatic, I didn't get that from the text, just faux macho jockisms adjacent to bullying tactics.

Yet nearly every one of the, unnecessary, ten footnotes was a sales pitch to go to the book’s website or his podcasts, yes, plural.

Copy/paste is visible on seemingly every other page. Hard to believe in a cause that isn’t self-aware enough of their product and wants to deliver the goods (yet doesn’t have a least one proofreader/ editor to clean up this mess.)

I only speak from experience as a successful military recruiter that has helped thousands of people, and families, over two decades consider their situations, debate driving motivations, and choose life paths (with them taking action in their own lives whether they enlisted or not,) honestly and with selfless integrity.

To paraphrase Garrett, Brother, this IS some “bullshit”.

Read at your own peril.
Thanks for reading.

I'm a firm believer in the Warrior's Way system that Garrett J. White has put together. It's a little odd to me that this book was written AFTER the publication of the Warrior Book and then was recommended to read BEFORE reading Warrior Book... but whatever. This is a good primer for the system if his Facebook ads, podcasts, and webinars haven't started you on the journey.

From my study of his marketing and demand generation strategies, it does feel to me like "Be The Man" was a book funnel designed to lead to another book funnel that starts you up the value ladder to his coaching and events. No shame in the marketing approach, but readers expecting a lot of revelation from "Be The Man" may be better off jumping right to Warrior Book.

At least, now that I have finished this book, I'm hoping that's the payoff.

Garrett J White is one motivating mother f*cker. Although this book won't change your life, it WILL put you on the path to changing it. Garrett introduces a perspective and way of thinking that will have you wanting to go all in by the end of this book.

Honestly this book is like a long forward and introduction to his other book (Warrior Book) and program (Wake Up Warrior), but it's still an enlightening read! Garrett has some great references and revelations when it comes to what it means to be a man as well has what has happened to us a men and why we may have found ourselves in such an existential funk.

Read this book. Get out of your funk. Wake up the warrior inside of you. Manifest the man you were meant to be!

This slim volume is a sales piece promoting White's Black Book (or Warrior Book) and reuses text from that longer work -- but is still a worthwhile introduction to his approach to overcoming limiting beliefs related to body, being, balance, and business in order to develop a more self-aware, -conscious, and autonomous lifestyle. His commentary on the dangers of distractions such as social media and substance abuse, disconnection from family, and the power and potential of feelings and emotions as motivational tools and priority identifiers has real merit. And though introductory, the book contains useful guidance to begin exploring your purpose, make better decisions and choices, and otherwise develop a meaningful, balanced life.
