Magnetiize: Stop the chase. Understand the change. Take control of your future

Rate this book
The world is caught in a never-ending chase. Life and business seem only to get more complex, confusing and fast-paced.
How can we regain our calm and clarity? How do we retain control and live purposeful lives when for so long doing business has been all about madly prioritising profit?
In his best-selling book What’s Your Moonshot? John Sanei asked, How BIG is your thinking? Now, in Magnetiize, he asks, How CONSCIOUS is your thinking?
With his unique blend of psychology, business strategy and future studies, he reveals the new way. He asks us to look inwards first, to find authenticity and meaning. Then, in looking out, he explains how purpose-led business isn’t just the ethical choice; it is ultimately the rational choice for long-term sustainability in a world looking for conscious and ethical solutions.
It’s time to Magnetiize!

I thought this book was more interesting than it was useful. I dreaded reading this at first. My boss gave it to me in an ongoing self-help, business improvement book exchange thing that we have going on and I was horrified. There’s all sorts of ridiculous business and self-help mumbo jumbo thrown around as its basic concept. I thought it was going to be an absolute chore to get through.

However, as an interesting, quick read, it’s great. If you’re looking for a tangible concept to put into play, I don’t think it quite works. I took a few things away from it, but I don’t think it’s going to completely change my outlook on things. This might be because I actually already agree with a lot about what he’s trying to convey here, so it’s didn’t hit as hard as it’s probably meant to.

3 stars but with a recommendation to read as it’s quick and engagingly written.

John Sanei makes some good points in this book of his. He shines when he talks about the ‘micro-aspects’, that is when he is talking about how to introspect and apply specific lessons to yourself.

His personal stories are engaging, and they do reveal something of the conflicts that he has faced in his life. These stories set the tone for some good lessons.

However, when he starts to talk about the ‘macro-aspects’, that is – the business part – he goes on a wild ramble. I am not sure what lessons he wants us to take away from these sections of the book. He does make some good points, but they are lost in the verbiage.

For me the key theme of this book is that we all need to slow down to go faster. Focussing on truly understanding ourselves as functional human beings we can achieve so much more by being more conscious and self aware. The message is driven home with a great collection of personal experience shares and exciting future trends. Easy reading.

Another enjoyable book from the author

Moonshots for the same author is a really inspiring book this Other can be read as a continuation or for itself .
The themes treated like conscious capitalism and Quotient of adaptability are very relevant in this era.
